Last time I was there, when PA shut down its liquor stores, it was still against the law. Owning a gas station in Camden NJ, pumping gas, and having a pocket filled with 20's, is probably the most unsafe profession in the world.

I saw some birds flitting in the tree one morning and, based on the size, I think they are probably screech owls and that they likely have a nest in the tree.

Anyway, this morning just as it was getting light, she was growling under the tree when a screech owl came flying at her full speed and hit her before speeding off! Fortunately a half-pound bird can't do much damage to a 55-pound dog, but it was quite a sight. Dog was totally unfazed and continued her hunt for the feathered invaders.

165 A blessed Sunday to all. Off to Mass but thought I would leave this beautiful quote

The following quote by Congressman Henry Hyde has provided inspiration for many in the pro-life cause.

"When the time comes, as it surely will, when we face that awesome moment, the final judgment, I've often thought, as Fulton Sheen wrote, that it is a terrible moment of loneliness. You have no advocates, you are there alone standing before God -- and a terror will rip your soul like nothing you can imagine. But I really think that those in the pro-life movement will not be alone. I think there'll be a chorus of voices that have never been heard in this world but are heard beautifully and clearly in the next world -- and they will plead for everyone who has been in this movement. They will say to God, 'Spare him, because he loved us!'"

In 2016, there were just over 6000 military absentee ballots that came into Maricopa County. In 2020, there were 10,457. In that same period of performance, I was the commanding general of the Guard. That’s a 68% increase in digital ballots that were submitted, and an 11% Decrease in overseas deployments. I enjoy the pretzel making. Gays vs. Muslims, so they can't discuss it at all.

Speaking of, did you know there was a mass shooting in an Alabama church last week? Yep. White guy shooting white folks, though, so *poof*, not news.

But what made it even more not news was that the shooter was an ATF gun dealer who had received numerous record-keeping violations, missing inventory, and "failure to record" citations. In other words, a gun criminal. A known gun criminal. And yet again, the law wasn't enforced, and the only thing that will fix it is more laws.

Nothing to see here, citizens.

204 > Abortion is not in the constitution.

Yep.

Everyone is posturing over this. Biden, Schumer, and their evil mob are vowing to protect the right to murder babies. The useless and idiotic Mike Pence is vowing to ban abortion at a national level.

Never mind that the actual decision says that both of those are absolutely off the table.

205 More Maricopa cheating uncovered:
In 2016, there were just over 6000 military absentee ballots that came into Maricopa County. In 2020, there were 10,457. In that same period of performance, I was the commanding general of the Guard. That’s a 68% increase in digital ballots that were submitted, and an 11% Decrease in overseas deployments. I believe that the chief law enforcement officer in the state has reasonable suspicion to open a criminal investigation into that.

With the favorable election climate for the Republicans, maybe the best in 100 years, if you can't overturn RvW now then when?

I think that some Republicans may lose because of the decision BUT those are probably the Republicans in the bluest districts and are RINO squishes anyway. So the decision has the salutary effect of cleansing the party of squishes.

221 Morning peeps.

The black robes putting the question of abortion back to the states used logic and language that I think is going to be used often for several other past decisions. An awful lot of "social law" has been crafted that way when it probably shouldn't have. However rolling back gun laws probably won't be one area. I would like to see the woke get their comeuppance now that many corporate entities are realizing what embracing that mental illness does to their bottom line. The academic sector is lost tho'.

224 Insty linked to Ann Althouse yesterday and I was fascinated to see that even she is jaded on the issue. She made the remarkable (for her) point that if the Dems had ever been serious about abortion, they would have introduced legislation to codify Roe, just like they did with other Court wins.

They didn't, because they didn't want to put their names on exactly what they stood for, and now it bit them in the ass.

Either she (or someone in the comments) remarked that in the immediate aftermath, the Dems might have secured a "first trimester only" bill that would have withstood the Supreme Court but since they've gone absolutist, even this compromise is now untenable for them.

I carefully explained to her that this was all lies (which to her credit, she figured) and that all court actually said was: We don't have any authority over this one way or another. It is up to the STATES to determine how it works.

I then pointed out to her that Michigan's (now suspended) law levies no legal consequences for women who seek abortions, it only punishes people who perform them. I then suggested that after she corrects her friends she asks them why she would trust anyone ever again to tells such blatant lies.

I'm a lot more optimistic than I have been in a while. The last few months have seen some massive strategic shifts in terms of resources. The left's burning through its cash reserves at a completely unsustainable rate with no possibility of a course correction.

In addition to instantly saving thousands of babies from a grisly death, the strategic balance has now swung strongly in our favor. Before the Dems could raise money off of Roe but didn't have to spend any of it on actual persuasion. The courts had their back.

Meanwhile, the pro-life movement was forced to conduct sustained, expensive siege operations with almost nothing to show for it legally.

Now the field is wide open, and the pro-lifers will get an infusion of energy because WE CAN DO THIS!

Nah, using liberal illogical rationale, it is easy to explain away and use to their advantage. Muslims who commit atrocities are not real Muslims. Like Blacks who do not vote Democrat and aren't leftist are not real Blacks.

Also, the Left will use this to say "see, this is an example of what Christians and conservatives in America want with their dangerous and hateful anti-Pride statements. This is what Christians and conservatives are going to do next."

This is a huge problem and a large part of the fall of the republic, though. It was seen in the 2020 election, and iirc Proposition 8 in California was the template.

Fellow travelers sue under sympathetic Attorneys General and Governors who won't defend the laws they're sworn to uphold, and the like minded judges change the laws accordingly. Need new voting laws? Here you go. Want gay marriage? Sounds good!

I don't see any easy way out of this when elected politicians and their judge friends believe that they have that veto over 11-40M voters.

At least the left understands that it's not the government/institutional process that matters, its the results - ie they are there to serve the left's purpose only and when they don't, they want them destroyed.

GOPe/NeverTrumpers prop up the institutions that support their grift and could care less about the actual reasons they exist, ie to protect the liberty of Americans. See: Trump and the FBI/DOJ.

They don't just believe they have veto power, they know they have veto power.

This is what happens when the Deep State rigs and steals a Presidential election and not only faces zero consequences for it, but every single person involved is in position to do it again in every future election.

And every single person involved knows they will never face any consequences, because the Deep State is in control of every single institution in the country who would enforce any laws or regulations.

2016 was the last arguably free and fair election in the former USA. People sadly have still not woken up to that fact. Polling and voters don't matter anymore. Who counts and certifies the votes matters.

There is no "final say" where the Left is concerned. Besides, the Left thought Roe v Wade was "the final say". Look how that turned out for them.

Maybe. But while we can, let us appreciate all that is good and beautiful in the world, the literature, the art, the music, the architecture left to us by generations past who revered it.

374 2016 was the last arguably free and fair election in the former USA. People sadly have still not woken up to that fact. Polling and voters don't matter anymore. Who counts and certifies the votes matters.

Minor point of disagreement:
Votes are where those who legitimately have the voting franchise cast their ballots with their chosen candidates.

Ballots are what are counted. Ballots, since 2016 have nothing to do with votes. Votes happen as a matter of process and a cultural artifact, but ballots are what has been and what will be counted. Ballots are thought by many to be a function of votes, but ballots no longer are. Ballots can have their provenance from a variety of sources - only one of them legal.

For as long as the Powers that Be count ballots and don't care about where or how those ballots come to be, there will be no such thing as an election. It will be just a ceremonial process to install rulers chosen behind closed doors.
