New Civiqs Poll Puts Approval for Biden at... 32%

The Putin Effect.

The latest Civiqs approval rating hit 32%, with 56% disapproving of the president. Even Democrats are expressing frustration, with their approval rate at a low 69%, according to the data.

At this stage of his presidency, Donald Trump was in better shape though also underwater with voters in the same Civiqs survey, at 44% approval, 52% disapproval, numbers he rarely broke from.

Recent presidents have all had very temporary low approval ratings below 30%, according to Gallup, but they didn't stay there. Biden's trend line, however, has been steadily down in the Civiqs survey since May 20, 2021.

Hispanic approval is at 41%. White approval is 26% -- all Karens and the Karen-Adjacent -- and black approval is at a weak 59%.

Once again, his best age group is those 65 and over, at 40%. As I think a commenter said here: Partisan loyalties were stronger in the past and weaker now. His higher-than-average approval with those 65+ is probably just due to dyed-in-the-wool Democrats reflexively approving of any Democrat. The very left-leaning 18-34 group only gives him 24% approval, because, while they skew to the left, they don't have strong identification with the Democrat Party.

A new Rasmussen poll finds similar levels of discontent:

...

The latest Rasmussen Reports survey of likely voters found that just 27% were good with Biden's handling of the economy. Some 71% said his handling was fair to poor.

And when asked who they blame for the poor economy, a majority said Biden, not the many targets of his finger-pointing, including Russian President Vladimir Putin. Some 52% blamed Biden for high gas prices, for example, but just 11% blamed Putin.

Meanwhile, NeverTrump's favorite game show, the January 6th Show and Tell Show, isn't changing people's minds.

The GOP's electoral trajectory remains unaffected by Jan. 6 developments

An NPR article says that the January 6th game show is actually... backfiring:

Tom Bevan
@TomBevanRCP

January 6 Committee hearings appear to be backfiring on Dems, making them seem out of touch with voters' main concerns.

From NPR:

Kimberly Berryman lives in the countryside outside Fredericksburg, Va., but drives 20 miles to the suburbs to do her shopping. She keeps a cooler in the trunk to keep her corn cold as she travels from store to store, trying to find the best deals on groceries.

For Berryman, it's worlds away from the hearings about the Jan. 6 insurrection going on at the U.S. Capitol.

"I got other things to do," she said with a laugh.

Berryman, who works with special needs students, said she was shocked and scared by the attack at the Capitol. But she said she's more worried about price hikes and supply shortages than litigating Jan. 6.

"Just move on to something else," she said.

Berryman said she usually votes for Democrats, including Abigail Spanberger, who currently represents the competitive 7th Congressional District in Congress. But Berryman said she'll consider voting for a Republican if they do a better job addressing her concerns about high prices.

"There are people out here that really can't afford it. And I'm one of them," she said.

This guy makes a good point about the Democrats' efforts to suddenly cry that political violence is just turrible, turrible:

33 It's astonishing, isn't it, that Biden's biggest support comes from over-65s. I think aside from stronger partisan ties, old people simply watch more mainstream media than younger folks do. Every channel from the broadcast networks to CNN and MSNBC are hard-left these days.

In the past they at least pretended to be somewhat balanced and gave some of both sides. But they've abandoned all that completely.

The old folks stuck watching broadcast TV and CNN get spoon-fed Democrat propaganda day and night. I've seen it in action among some of my old relatives. They end up voting for people who hate their guts and everything they stand for. The power of propaganda is scary.

95 I wonder if the woman in that NPR story bothered to compare prices before starting her shopping and figuring out if saving a few cents on a handful of items makes up for her fuel costs in going to multiple stores. Sure, her food bill might be a few dollars lower when all's said and done, but is she buying more gas as a result and eating up that savings?

I was driving to my favorite market to buy fresh corn that had been shipped in from California, and my three year old daughter looked over to me from her car seat with tears in her eyes and asked, "why do the Trump supporters insist on blocking the President's release of oil from the Strategic reserve to allow cheaper shipping on out of state vegetables"
I had to say, I didn't know, but I suspected they were trying to make political points by starving children.

A special session demanded by Wisconsin's Democratic governor was opened and immediately closed on Wednesday by the state's Republican-led Legislature, which is refusing to repeal a 19th century abortion ban that remains on the books.
The Republican leaders in the legislature gaveled in the special session at noon only to gavel out immediately, state Senate Minority Leader Janet Bewley, a Democrat, said. CNN has reached out to the speaker's office for comment.
Wisconsin's abortion ban from 1849 was invalidated by the decision in Roe v. Wade, but the law is still on the books. It's been essentially dormant for nearly half a century but has received fresh attention given the possibility that the Supreme Court could overturn Roe as soon as this month.

Central banks and political leaders have managed to "win" the PIGLIFE scenario for decades, but at a cost that can no longer be cloaked by happy-happy statistics.

Go fuck yourself. Voting Democrat is what got you and the rest of the country into this mess. What you want the "Republican" to do is tell you that you're not responsible, that your vote was an understandable mistake because of the Bad Orange Man.

448 I was driving to my favorite market to buy fresh corn that had been shipped in from California, and my three year old daughter looked over to me from her car seat with tears in her eyes and asked, "why do the Trump supporters insist on blocking the President's release of oil from the Strategic reserve to allow cheaper shipping on out of state vegetables"
I had to say, I didn't know, but I suspected they were trying to make political points by starving children.
My heart weeps for my poor child, and the dystopia she will inherit.

Its not a fake liberal daughter story if you don't burst into tears along with the three year old.

450 427 422 Take corn in it's husks, and soak the whole thing in water for about 20 minutes.

Then push the wet husks and hair back then smear corn with a preparation of butter, pepper, garlic salt, and paprika.

Pull back husks to cover corn and tie off with a little strip of husk.

Grill over medium fire until the husks are a little charred.

I think it's project farm, but that guy does a great job figuring out how to test all kinds of things. The only issue I ever had with him was testing folding knives, and even then it's just because there's too many variables.

There are lots of videos on adding sheet foam to the inside of a regular cooler if you need better performance. Some of them don't do a great job--it shouldn't be hard to do, though. It probably works great.

465 Weed is against Federal Law. Many states have "legalized" it, in direct contravention to Federal Law. Federal Law is Supreme. Texas and Arizona can't enforce Border Controls because of the Supremacy of Federal Laws.

When Law is selective and benefits only the party in power, then there is no justice. No justice, no peace. FJB.

466 I don't want to dump on Kimberly too much, but how is it not obvious that "usually voting for Democrats" won't inevitably lead to the shitstorm we're experience right now. For at least 50 years now, each Democrat administration or Congress has resulted in the further degradation of American society and its institutions. From malaise, to selling-out to China, to don't-ask-don't-tell, to "the cops made mistakes," to COVID lockdowns, to "peaceful" riots, to tranny insanity, and now to hyper-inflation, food shortages, alien invasions, supply-chain destruction, military humiliation, ...

469 My sweet corn advice:

1. Buy from a farm stand the day the corn is picked.
2. Criss cross on a trivet in an Instant Pot with a cup of water. You might have to cut the cobs in half. Cook on high pressure for 4 minutes.

OR

Bring a big pot (8-12 qt) of water to a boil. Add about 1/2 a cup of milk and a tablespoon of sugar. Reduce heat and add corn (you probably won't have to cut the cobs). Cover and bring to a boil, then turn down to a simmer and tilt the lid. Cook for about 15 minutes.

The second method will make even shucked, storebought corn wonderful.
