So I ventured to vacuum New House, which is more than twice the size of Old House and carpeted throughout where Old House had hardwood floors in the living areas.

The FAA is ordering airlines to update faulty radar altimeters. (Ars Technica)

The argument has been going on for years, with cellular network operators swearing that their equipment couldn't affect aircraft instruments, and airlines swearing that it did.

Turns out they're both right, because the instruments themselves are faulty. The altimeters were designed decades ago when nothing else operated anywhere near that radio frequency, so the designers just didn't bother to filter out other signals. And now that there are other signals, there are problems.

The networks are happy with this decision. The airlines not so much.

The PCIe 7.0 spec is due out in 2025 - it will be twice as fast as PCIe 6.0, for an aggregate half a terabyte per second per slot. (Tom's Hardware)

A x1 PCIe 7.0 slot will be as fast as a full-size x16 PCIe 3.0 slot.

It took seven years to progress from PCIe 3.0 to PCIe 4.0, and just eight to get from there to PCIe 7.0.

I don't know if or when this will show up in consumer systems, but PCIe 5.0 was adopted very quickly. By Intel. Nobody else is shipping it just yet.

Re the "baby trials" of the coof "vaccine" shit by Pfizer. Seems the placebo arms had a higher than expected rate of adverse events. This makes the active arms look better of course.

DId Pfizer Pfudge this. Is the placebo not really a placebo shot, saline, but something else? Or are they just making shit up?

Well the thing there is that without proper filtering the instruments are already unsafe. A 5G signal can throw them off, but so can any radio signal in a very wide frequency range.

Monday afternoon I watched a film noir from 1953 on YooToob, 99 River Street, with John Payne and Evelyn Keyes. Very exciting flick, and you can imagine why Payne might well have made a good if Americanized James Bond. He took out an option on the novel Moonraker, which is a solid suspenser in itself. It never came to anything, but it might have been quite good.

122 At the risk of posting to a too old comment thread: Don't get the Roomba that returns to base and empties itself. The software is great. The vacuum is mediocre, at best. Manually running the Dyson after the Roomba says it's done fills the Dyson's dirt catcher.

It does a decent job if you run it daily and do the occasional (bi-weekly or so) "get it actually vacuumed" run with another vacuum. It is not a replacement for a real vacuum cleaner.
