The Morning Rant: Gluten Intolerance, Transgenderism, and Providing “Affirming” Treatments for Social Contagions

[Disclaimer – I fully understand that celiac disease is real, and that those who have celiac disease must eat a gluten free diet. I also know that a minutely small percentage of people have lifelong gender dysmorphia…people that didn’t just discover their condition on social media, or get talked into it by a teacher. I’m not talking about them. – Buck]

It’s a good thing the political-medical establishment didn’t advocate sterilizing and mutilating the bodies of those who got caught up in the gluten fad like they do for those caught up in the transgender fad. Both are social contagions - self-diagnosed maladies that inexplicably became trendy.

In the decade between the aughts and the ‘20s, the gluten-free dietary fad morphed into a pandemic of self-diagnosed gluten allergies that made its victims almost unbearable to be around.

Like me, you probably knew several people that turned their self-diagnosed “gluten allergies” into performance art, creating scenes in restaurants if even a crumb of bread touched their plates. Sadly, I also knew people who genuinely thought of gluten as if it were nuclear waste, and that simply being around it could cause them illness or death. They just knew they had the gluten disease, and it became a defining part of their identity and their lifestyle. What if “gluten-affirming care” had required that they be disemboweled and carry a colostomy bag for the rest of their lives?

Not coincidentally, most of the people I know who convinced themselves that they had deathly gluten intolerance were liberal fad-chasers who are always passionate about the latest big thing.

Right now, LGBTetc is the big thing. Straight young liberals don’t dare identify as heterosexual so they have to contort themselves to come up with a defining sexuality that allows them to be a part of the rainbow flag while still having a straight sex life.

Study: Rise in LGBT Identification Among Young People Is Significantly Influenced by ‘Social Trends’ [Legal Insurrection – 6/04/2022]

“The LGBT surge is socio-political, heavily siloed among very liberal young people. The General Social Survey shows that the heterosexual share dropped about 20 points, to 66%, within the most liberal fifth of young people. It changed far less among others.”

Fine. If they want to call themselves non-heterosexuals-who-still-date-heterosexuals, whatever.

What’s disturbing, however, is the sudden surge of people being seduced into identifying as being “assigned” the wrong sex. Per Pew Research, ”about 5% of young adults in the U.S. say their gender is different from their sex assigned at birth.”

Transgender chart.JPG

The medical industrial complex has some diabolical (and very profitable) treatments for those who get caught up in the transgender fad. Ace and others have started to cover the multitude of horror stories involving young people – some minors – who now regret that they are sterile, will never enjoy sexual climax, and have irreversibly mutilated bodies.

The transgender fad will pass, much like the gluten fad has mainly passed. But unlike the former gluten sufferers who have moved on and are now happily eating artisanal bread, the victims of the transgender fad will not be able to move on once they fall prey to “gender affirming care.”

*****

While we’re on the subject, could someone please tell Transgender-Americans that white supremacy is not cool.

Progressive Lutheran Denomination’s First Transgender Bishop Accused of Racism, Resigns One Year into Term [Breitbart – 6/09/2022]

Lutheran Bishop Megan Rohrer of the Sierra Pacific Synod (ELCA), the first openly transgender bishop in a major Christian denomination, has resigned over racism allegations after firing the Puerto Rican pastor of a church in Stockton, California.

Just because transgenders are the ascendant victim group at this cultural moment doesn’t mean they should feel free to unleash hatred and bigotry upon people of color.

21 A lot of this "non-binary" -ism comes from the fad of "gender studies" that takes applies every demon and sin imaginable and associates it with men (either to shame men into neutering themselves or to convince ladies never to date men again), so they "take themselves out" of the dating pool as to never come across the various aggressive behaviors that humans typically partake.

Take out the gender studies and men-bashing and all this non-binary crap goes out the window.

this is HUGE. notsothoreau is completely correct!

also I wanted to mention my personal experience with fertility doctors really soured me on medicine in general. it's a very long story but that area is total Wild West too! money thrown about, not great oversight at all. a lot of fooling with numbers (by kicking out couples who don't conceive after X amount of time) in order to show "look at our success rate."

I always thought I'd someday write a book from my notes on our depressing (and costly!) experience. and at the time too there were surprising amounts of younger, not infertile couples going thru the treatments (why?!?!) because they didn't get pregnant in the first couple months of trying. and the docs were happy to have them!

anyway - that stuff was a prelude to the tranny malpractice, methinks.

What truly irritates me about "Juneteenth" and every other "month" is (beyond the obvious and planned Balkanization of the country) the presumption that honkies have no idea of the wonderful contributions and the number of heroes that black / asian / hispanic / whatevers have made or have existed in this country.

72 Non-binary is a deeply subconcious rebellion to the Tyranny of the Polemic. They are right but they don't know why they are right. The problem with monotheism is it posits a polemic. People do better with polytheism cuz it offers many archetypes to choose from. When Rome adopted Christianity they quickly started minting Saints to fill the void left by erasing polytheism. Same is true of the Orthodox church. The ancient Greek cosmology contained 3,144 gods and goddesses. Humans have a profound need for choices and guides.

77 No, it's not that at all. I've read it in several places. Some people think it's that the EU restricts the use of Roundup, which is used a lot in this country. And I'm pretty sure that we grow a different variety of wheat here. Also some folks that are sensitive to gluten can eat older varieties of wheat like spelt. I think it would be interesting to do some research on the issue.

Needless to say she left in a huff.

The attraction of being gay, or other forms of deviance is that you are not conforming to standards. That gives you a thrill in a "being bad" way.

Seeing long "kept quiet" fetishes become mainstream forces people to become even more outrageous in order to get the same thrill.

Some of the long time members of these communities are now openly telling people to knock the shit off and quit trying to get "acceptance" because they don't want to be accepted.

It's like dealing with vegetarians that insist you must eat vegetarian in front of them (don't kill the poor widdle animals!), but at the same time they are pro-abortion. In Chinua Achebe's book, "Things Fall Apart", there was a phrase used by the the natives: "I can't use my knife to cut up the dog, so I'll use my teeth". Dog meat was anathema to them, as was using a knife to cut up a dog, but hey, it's my teeth, not a knife!

183 anyway - that stuff was a prelude to the tranny malpractice, methinks.
***

Watching that "What is a Woman" movie I learned something interesting about the so-called "transition" surgeries.

We know there have been lots of botched surgeries. For example, the kid "Jazz" who was on the reality t.v. show about being transgender, had a fake vagina created. It wasn't done particularly well and the tissue that the surgeon used was too weak and the fake vagina split open within days of his initial surgery (causing horrendous pain), and he had to go back for additional surgeries to repair the damage.

There have also been multiple trannies who have recounted, online and elsewhere, their own surgery horror stories. One guy wrote on Twitter about how he's now completely numb in his groin area, his fake vagina is too small for sex, and he has chronic urinary incontinence after his transition surgery.

So why haven't these quack transition surgeons been sued? According to a woman (she was a F to M tranny) in the movie, because the transition surgeries are still considered "experimental," there is no legal baseline standard of care, so it's impossible to successfully sue.

210 Oh, and another point to add to my Manson Family posts from above: Manson was on parole and under LE supervision and surveillance during this entire time. Somehow he was allowed to move around from city to city (a parole violation), and even commit more crimes, without his parole officer or anyone else doing anything to stop him, even though they knew exactly what he was doing. They all but encouraged and enabled him, to the extent some have theorized he was on the FBI payroll as some kind of loose canon to fracture and de-legitimize leftwing hippy culture. Sound familiar? I wouldn't have believe this a few decades ago. Today? Even money.

212 We've always had ranges of "acceptable" behavior within norms of the gender binary. For millennia, tomboys and sissies were dealt with -- albeit often harshly -- by a society that knew the norms were beneficial to each gender and that the two genders were complementary.

And then came the sociologists and psychologists. With nothing left to do as far as breakthrough studies, they began down the road of all pseudoscience -- they just started making shit up. (That group of actual scholars who tested the system of "peer review" by making up their own bullshit should have been a reckoning. Instead, *they* were vilified.)

And now, we've got lefty culture wildly expanding the definition of gender -- just look at that ridiculous flag and the laughable number of letters now necessary to encapsulate what we used to call "gay." With a fungible definition, and a culture that says "it's cool to be mentally unstable," is there any wonder that generations who care more about social media than their parents (if they're luck to have them) are doing anything to fit in?

To paraphrase Andy Taylor, "You've left us with a lot of unscrambling to do."

This. But I think it goes beyond just teenagers. There's this weird trend among even adults that they express individuality by doing exactly what everyone else is doing. Tattoos are a good example. Everyone has them today and almost the exact same tattoo in the same place. Piercings to a lesser extent. But if you ask them why, it will always be some pabulum about individuality and expressing themselves. ___________

Manson was basically a pimp and drug dealer, and he had some famous clients, which is why he was protected to a degree.

Manson had become friendly with Doris Day's music producer son Terry Melcher (who was living with his GF Candace Bergen at the time). Melcher's production company, which was funded mainly by his mom Doris, threw a lot of parties and Melcher would use Manson to provide drugs and girls for sex at the parties.

Manson fancied himself as a rock-star-in-waiting, and he desperately wanted a record deal. He convinced Melcher (who was afraid of him) to agree to sign him. But when Doris Day found out, she was very angry and she told her son that there was no way in hell he was signing that sleazy pimp Manson, because she was not going to have her good name sullied by association with a criminal like Manson.

Melcher had to tell Manson, and Manson was so angry that he decided to start the killing spree. The house that Sharon Tate and the others were murdered in had been the house that Terry Melcher lived in with Candace Bergen, and Manson had visited Melcher there.

Delayed adulthood wouldn't be such an issue if the 18-24 year old delayed adults were still treated like children. Given structure, requirements, and gradually increasing responsibilities. Instead, they get all the rights and freedoms of adulthood, but none of the obligations or expectations.

I'm cool with keeping people legally as minors until age 25, unless they legally petition for emancipation early. Kids are dumb and faddy....delay their ability to vote.

Yeah food allergies can be horrendous and deadly, which is why its tough when people bring one up. Being lactose intolerant, I know what its like to eat something I shouldn't, and that's relatively mild to some cases.

But there are so many people claiming crap that is patently false or at best a mild irritation as "allergy" and its tough to take it seriously in this society. Everyone has a boutique illness which can be infuriating to people really suffering from serious malady.

But why then try to justify on some grounds as individuality when it's the opposite?

I think its a combination of fear of seeming stupid and being perceived as a weak follower, and a basic inability to really express their reasons and chain of thought because they've never even stopped to consider, they just did.

385 By the way, when we adopt the leftwing language of a gender being "assigned" at birth, we are already conceding ground to these freaks. Something being "assigned" suggests that somebody made a discretionary decision about something, and decisions can be arbitrary or wrong. A doctor delivering a baby and seeing a penis isn't "assigning" any gender. He is merely recognizing obvious truth.

Celiac Disease is about 1-3% of the population. You either have the gene for it or you don't. And for unknown reasons a good % of the people with the gene don't have the disease. Science hasn't figured out why the immune system in Celiacs suddenly decides one day that the proteins in Gluten are pathogens worthy of nuking intestines over. There's probably some viral trigger that causes the immune system in those with the gene to go haywire which hasn't been detected yet.

You have no idea how much it sucks to pay 30% more for all your food and having to worry about the slightest cross contamination causing you to have severe digestive distress and projectile vomiting. Gluten is in fricken everything as a filler. Washing your hands or hair with the wrong soap and your skin starts peeling off like a sunburn.

421 I've watched several beautiful young women in my extended family get sent off by clueless parents to schools run by moonbats (that being, damn near any college), and get conned into ruining their lives by freaks and weirdos looking to increase their ranks.

None of them are happy. Some of them understand they've been had, but the really insidious thing about being talked into one of these groups is that they they brutally turn on anyone who tries to leave. It's just too much for most people to mentally turn the corner to understand they fucked up, AND then have everyone who had been their most fervent supporters hate them. They still have a huge family willing to support them at any time but once the "my family are all eeevil conservatives!" wears off, it is replaced with shame and embarrassment.

I think it's also worth pointing out that a significant portion of this en-freakening is partly enabled by stupid, overly harsh parents in flyover country who drive their kids away. It's one thing to be strict; it's another thing to be strict, stupid, and unfair.

Sebring invited him to a couple of their parties, including, I think, the fateful final one. Vaughn always said no. If he hadn't, we'd be talking about the Vaughn-Tate murders right now.
_________

Sharon Tate's two younger sisters had asked to spend the night at her house that night, but Sharon told them that she was too tired and they'd do it some other time. (From the sister's book).

After the murders, Terry Melcher was so freaked that he and Candace Bergen moved into Doris Day's house to hide out, and Doris hired extra round-the-clock security. Melcher reportedly spent the rest of his life looking over his shoulder, as he was convinced that Manson was going to send somebody to kill him.

I always thought it was kind of ironic that the Manson Family killing spree had been started because of something done by "America's Sweetheart," the fresh-faced, squeaky-clean, family-friendly Doris Day.

The 2nd carrier Shandong was built in China. It's more or less a copy of the Russian one they first bought. This "new" carrier has an angled flight deck like our carriers, EMALS, 2 elevators to move aircraft and is conventionally powered instead of nuclear like ours.

There is some question as to the carrier's airwing and what sort of composition it'd be. Supposedly China has a carrier knockoff of the F-35 (J-31) IIRC.

442 "But there was nothing I was qualified to do."

You couldn't wash dishes in a restaurant?

Or be a prep cook? or janitor?

I couldn't see myself doing those things. To sell books or records in a shop, yes, and I spread some applications around, but never got any nibbles. Then as now it was easier to get a job if you already had one, and failing that, if you'd already had one in the recent past.

(I never understood that "easier to get a job if you have one now" concept. Seems to me an employer would be thrilled if you could start right away; and if you'd been out of work for a while, he'd figure you'd be willing to take less money. But nooooo --)

443 We saw a double rainbow out over the lake yesterday. I never thought to associate it with the phoney pride crap at he time we saw it.

444 My wife and I are both pretty allergic to gluten. I really hate telling people this, especially since we are from the Seattle area. It makes us look like kooky libs from a blue city. We Don't have to be super careful about getting a small amount, but if we eat bread we both get painful stomach acid for about 3 days. Not a disaster but very annoying.
Our son was basically a celiac for about 3 years, then suddenly he could eat bread again no problem. Wish that would happen to us.

445 nuh uh, I know the playbook.

First the float it "as a joke"

Then they scoff and say it's a right-wing conspiracy/lie. Not happening. Don't be stupid.

Then they say it's happening but it's no big deal. And "akshully" it's good that it's happening.

Then they say it's always been happening and to claim that it hasn't is a right-wing conspiracy/lie.

Then they make it mandatory and call you a monster and a bigot for trying to oppose something as fundamental as the constitution itself

446 It took me two years after first suspecting wheat/gluten was fucking with me, to finally consider eliminating it from my diet. It was only after incidentally eliminating it while trying some low-carb/keto thing for a while that I realized it had to be done.

I was on day two of a seven day cruise when I pulled the trigger, and I have not eaten wheat on purpose ever since, exactly 10 years today actually.

I didn't want to be one of "those people" I don't have celiac, and I'm not allergic to wheat. For every day of my life since sometime in 1986, I (low estimate) averaged about 2 migraines every single day, for an average of about 1.5 hours every day. I thought the keto thing had somehow "cured" me, then I realized it was just the hamburger buns, and I figured out the rest from there.

For the last 10 years, I've had less than 20 migraines, probably fewer than 10, I stopped counting.

So, yeah, the freaks out there whose victim tag is "gluten free", fuck those people. They are almost as low as the freaks who feel the need to shit on them.

447 I've had this thought for a while now. In the 80's it was MSG consumption. In the early 2000s, everyone had a peanut allergy. Mid 2010's no one could eat gluten. And what's the worst that can happen? You miss out on some Chinese food, a pbj, or a slice of bread. Now the trend involves irreversible damage.

449 Ah, how well I remember in the 1980s that all the non-smokers were suddenly allergic to cigarette smoke. It seemed easy enough to point out to them that such a thing had been unheard of for some 400 years; that its sudden surge bespoke of fraud.

That particular "allergy" died very quickly. Today's people are not so educated as to be bothered by their hypocrisy, ignorance, and screeching self-righteousness.
