The Saturday Night Joke

The following story was submitted to us by our friend Hrothgar. I didn't know Japan was in danger. But, now I do. Thanks.

Breasts Are Saving Japan From Woke Culture

No country is too far from the grasp of social justice values to try to take hold, and sure enough, the country of Japan has been enduring its own attempts by the far left to infiltrate and take over the culture.

Particularly, a feminist movement in Japan had been growing within it, but it would appear that the young women it was attempting to seduce are rejecting it thanks to several factors, but one of them is their breasts.

No, I’m not kidding.

Raging River, Rising Community: The Yellowstone Flood of 2022
Less than a week ago, I was tucked in a sleeping bag next to the Yellowstone River. Today, that campsite is underwater, as is the bridge that stood next to it.

Paradise Valley is a living Montana iconography. On the east side of the valley, the Absaroka Range leans tall and jagged against the skies.

Hobbies? I think I'll stick with fishing, thank you very much.

PAOLO MENNINI HAD GONE SEVERAL months without finding any unexploded ordnance. Not a single bullet. But he had a feeling about this place. We had driven down a one-mile dirt road, past derelict farmhouses and the flat fields south of Mantua, in northern Italy, and walked into a grove to reach a half-collapsed fort.

“Try down there,” he told Andrea Gabrielli, one of his employees. Gabrielli started scouring the ground with a metal detector—a beeping monitor with a long yellow handle, a shoulder strap, and a rod pointing down, roughly the shape of a leaf blower.

I wonder if anyone has ever created an equivalent type of automatic washing machine for humans.

Do you suffer from hay fever? This might be better than that decongestant you've been using.

Did you know that having sex *might* be able to alleviate some of those nasty hay fever symptoms?

Streaming eyes, itchy and runny noses, thumping headaches – it seems that everyone is experiencing those dreaded symptoms this summer.

And it’s not even the height of the season just yet.

Dosed up with antihistamines that don’t quite hit the spot, could there be a more pleasurable way to wave goodbye to seasonal allergies?

Local sign of economic fuckage: Miley and I go the local Cracker Barrel in Simpsonville for dinner tonight.

The menu looks a bit sparser than I remember. Didn't see any catfish in particular, and didn't see some other stuff. Waitress confirms they've downsized the menu, and are gonna have to downsize it some more.

Catfish was one of their popular items, but she said they can't get it delivered reliably. Same with other meats. She said they're gonna soon reduce the breakfast menu because of that same problem.

I don't actually use a wooden spoon as I find them somewhat cumbersome, I use a wooden straight-edge scraper. It's great to use in making batches of soup, large pots of red sauce, chili, hot dog onions and things like that. It not only stirs somewhat like a paddle, but it also scrapes the bottom of the pot real well to prevent sticking. But I don't use it in my non-stick pans, in which I cook eggs. For eggs I go with a silicon/plastic spatula because I have more control.

Now prices at the Cracker Barrel. I got out of there for four meals for just under $60. That sort of surprised me. One of the local joints in town, a mid-range family restaurant that's been in town for decades, you're up to $90 for four meals like that.

It was two for Miley and me in there, and then I pick up some for my elderly parents.

That local joint does catfish (Miley doesn't like their grilled/broiled as much as the Cracker Barrel's), and still does. $90 vs $60 may have something to do with that difference.

Now, as far as the higher end restaurants, good Lord. We took my folks to one of those for my mother's birthday, right before Mother's day. Even got my father there.

They were $180 for the four of us. Now, that joint has been in Greenville since the '60s or so. They are closing at the end of this month. Haven't found a buyer yet, so it may be the end of it.

My mother wanted to go one last time, but hell, they're booked solid until the last day. Everyone wants to go one last time.

One of the hots for the drop to the shop is severed right by the pole. Seen through binoculars, the end looks melted. And there is a rat's nest of single-strand wire at the cable-head where the 3-conductor cable running up the pole from the meter meets the drop. I think wind and tree branches may have chafed the hot against the neutral, until it arced, burned out the hot, and maybe a few strands of the neutral, too.

Or could have been a lightning strike.

219 Cobain Batman, final thoughts:

The villains were poorly done, especially Ritalin Riddler. Low T cast over all. Colin Firth was terrific however. Paterson did a good job but I don't think he's the right man.

Everything else was competently or good. The chase with the muscle car was really good. None of the fights were prolonged, and I don't think the director wants to be put in a place where he is compared to Nolan.

The origin story changed a little bit, and the alley shooting was wisely not revisited.

I used to cook with wooden spoons, but when I used the same spoon for soup, spaghetti sauce and making cookies, something broke inside, and I switched to silicone. Silicone works great, cleans great, and I haven't burned it yet, so I'm thinking it's a win.,

In 1974 I visited Yellowstone Natl Park in early September. The park was on the verge of closing and the canteen had only chili left - breakfast, noon and night. This was North, near Montana line so we drove over to a tiny village but it had this great restaurant and I had fresh tout out of the river. Delicious.

Bishop Robert McManus issued a formal decree Thursday prohibiting Nativity School of Worcester from identifying itself as a “Catholic” school in response to the school refusing to remove Pride and Black Lives Matter flags at his request.

In addition to stripping the school of its Catholic title, the school may no longer perform mass or sacraments on its campus or sponsor any masses or sacraments at churches in the Diocese of Worcester, according to the decree.

272 I’ve got a Trump rally story for ya, Square:
Drove through a heavy downpour three hours for the Cape Girardeau rally with Rush. Stood out in the rain with our teenagers and had to ditch our umbrellas because of security.
Some people threw theirs away but I had a couple of really nice ones so I tossed all four into a little pile over the rail on the grass with maybe 75-100 others, at the time we entered.
Rally was great. Rush was great. Trump was great. Sat right behind Fox interview box. Kids met Hannity n got hats signed. Unfortunately they put us on tv a lot and my hair was all frizzy.
When we left we figured the parking lot would take forever to empty so we stayed inside until most all of 5,000 people left before us.
Our umbrellas were still where we left them.
I shoulda called Rush the next day.

They gave away all their rights to some company in Massachusetts in exchange for that company giving them free internet. Well, I guess someone told Niue, "hey did you know those two companies made about 150 million from that TLD and you could have bought a whole butt load of free wifi for 150M you dummies". 350 I was transferred from a U.S. company to a French one, both owned by a parent company, back in 1976. I flew over with a V.P. of the U.S. one. They put us up in a nice hotel and fed us in the executive dining room. That's where I learned to like French cheeses. As soon as my old V.P left they moved me to a dump of a hotel with one bathroom per floor and didn't care if I starved or not. Never did see an Executive bathroom.

It involves ginormous boobs so large they are many sigmas beyond normal range. At that size, they become repulsive. And it's very formulaic. There's a list of boxes, a very long and specific list of boxes that have to be checked in the performance.

Snake in the terlet story for Miklos, and her Grace was trying to relay:

The wife who had sublet the trailer out to various renters, who would stay for a few months to year, was cleaning it out between renters one time. Very dry summer, and the poor snakes were hunting water. One got in that trailer and curled up inside the terlet.

My father and I were out in the shop, and we heard this blood-curdling scream for over there at the trailer. We went running, sounded like the gal was dying. Well, she had to go, and sat down on that toilet and felt something. She looked down and saw a snake hear coming up.

She demanded we kill it. It was just a King Snake, one of the good guys. I put him out in the woods and told her I killed it.

It's an absorption cycle. Liquid refrigerant evaporates to pull heat out of the chilled space as normal. But rather than having a compressor to suck that back up, compress it, and then cool it, you have another liquid that absorbs the evaporate refrigerant.

It holds the gas in solution. You take that solution and then heat it up, driving the dissolved refrigerant out. This then runs through a condenser and starts the cycle over again.

You can do this without any moving parts, just a heat source. Although, some pumps and fans might be nice to increase capacity and all that.

Much easier for the Dems to cheat their way out of the mess they've created than actually face the wrath of voters in an honest election. 446 I had major flooding in my bathroom back in 2018 that went on for several weeks when my upstairs neighbor showered because the common drain his shower and my sink connected to got clogged. (I was mostly living elsewhere during this time.) Finally got the bathroom remodeled last year and, to my astonishment, there was only a little black mold at the base of the sink cabinet. Otherwise, the water drained through the lino (squares, not a solid sheet) and through the subfloor which was not a solid piece. Did put new subfloor, lino, baseboards, etc., down, but it was not remotely as bad as I feared.

We still have mandatory face diapers here (NYC) for public transportation and hospitals/doctor appointments (including veterinarians, not for the pet but for the hoo-man); some doctors won't even let you wait in a waiting room/area but rather outside and are called on your cell when it's 'safe' for you to come in. It's why I don't see my doctors as often as they would like. I fucking hate that face diaper, especially knowing it doesn't bloody work, and I have a real hard time breathing when I wear one.

Yes, they can use ammonia as the refrigerant. You can also used ammonia in a regular compressor cycle.

The concept here is no compressor, using a liquid (water and such) to absorb the evaporated gas and then heat it out, rather than a compressor.

525 Good morning, Horde and good night! I just got back from seeing a Kid Rock concert in Raleigh, NC (a friend had some tickets). When I got back, here after a long drive in which I had to force myself to stay awake, I poured myself a small glass of Hendrck’s Neptune gin on ice. Scrolling quickly through the comments, this looks like a nice comment thread {ladyL!} but it may be a day or two before I get back to it.

A small town in my AO had a large reindeer herder cohort though not many are still around these days -- bigger reindeer in Floridia, I suppose... Many homes there still have backyard saunas (known locally as "saaaaaooooonaaaaahs") converted to garden sheds and garages...

527 Thanks Farmer, hubs and I are are both making adjustments, we miss each other, the choice was the right one to make. Thanks for asking. Horde, I am off to bed, I bid you all a good night.

Oh, when me and Miley was drivin' to the Cracker Barrel this evening, where I learned about the catfish discontinuation, there was a bit of traffic jam between Ft. Inn and Simpsonville, on Hwy. 14.

Turned out there was some sort of concert going on at this damned outdoor thing they call the CCNB Amphitheatre at Heritage Park. You can look that up.

Turned out somebody called Cody Johnson was performing tonight. Never heard of him. Anyway, there was one hell of a traffic line up down this little side road. I figure Google Maps was directing a lot of idiots coming from the East that way. Luckily, it didn't affect us to much, because we were going sort of the wrong way most of the time for the incoming bunch.

Good fish though.
