I own a device that was a new tech startup app company when I bought it. So I wanted another, but a gigantic big tech corporation bought them up. New gigantic big company cannot do anything with the old accounts. So I got a new account. BUT - I used the same email address and they can't make the new one work because it conflicts with the old one. Now they have to send a ticket off to "offline" support and they say it will be fixed in 2 business days. After spending an hour on the phone with them.

We recently bought a late model car and got rid of my 2005. I had the great idea to link my iphone to the new vehicle's communication system through Bluetooth. Big hassle but got it done. While on a long trip today a load of the apps I use all the time wouldn't work and I missed two important calls while trying to answer the phone. Which I couldn't. Stupid technology.

It was going to burn anyways, the question was whether it was going to do it sooner, or do it earlier when we have a chance to deal with it, or later when our kids have to shoulder it and they're in an even worse spot.
Accelerating the schedule is the big benefit of PDT that many don't understand yet, while they're focusing on the whole ripping-off-the-masks thing instead.
And on topic, if you don't have as many of your arms and supporting equipment as you can manage in some place other than your close or safe - leaving behind what you actually need in the moment - you need to fix that. They're not toys, and proper employment generally does not entail using them for interior decoration.

Our current operating assumption is that we're going to facilitate our kids GTFO'ing out of North America when they become young adults, if possible. Fallback plan is turtling up for the long haul in one of several incipient Redneck Switzerland-like regions.
We're willing to fight but have little interest in dumping them into Alamo 2.0 and saying "good luck". For some fairly large chunks of NA there doesn't seem to be any paths from here to "functional culture" that don't involve extreme unpleasantness.

That's the thing. Yes it would. At least with a container someone isn;t going to haul it off, and while the doors can be locked pretty well you can cut through the sides with a battery powered angle grinder if you have time.

The one case that caused the most concern was a young guy and his older supervisor clearing areas in an open field for a pipeline near Beaumont, TX . Semi Clear skies but you could see a thunderstorm gathering 10 or 15 miles away according to the Super. The supervisor was sitting on the dozer while the young guy was about 75 yards away gathering up surveying stakes. The Super said he heard a loud boom and looked over and saw the young guy laying on the ground. A beam of sunlight shone right on him.

Shipping containers can be good for some storage. Burying one is not a good idea. Coastal FL has a very high water table and, the containers, while strong at the corners will be crushed by dirt and sand compacting around them.
The septic tanks may be a better choice but, again, water table.

75 ft above sea level. The water table was seven feet down. Yes, pools can be popped out of the ground. Not mine, I read about it though.

We had wells at the house for watering. It's not good.
The water is so foul that it will stain the fences and paint. It also stinks. We had to get bottled water delivered because they use so much chlorine in it to get it clear it's bad. Makes awful coffee or tea. Our cat refused to drink it preferring to drink out of the pool.

hey AOP. bike update, eadiator cap was definitely bad, didn't even hold the slightest amount of pressure once i got the baby sized cap testor. got the cam chain tensioners installed, and still had three clicks left on both of them so i hadn't gotten to the chains slapping the inside of tje case just yet. will finish up this weekend with a compression check just to be certain i haven't got a crack in the heads or a blown head gasket.

Try being in the high peaks as a storm rolls in around you.
We were taught that is you feel the hairs on your arms / back of neck start to stand up, you need to find the lowest spot you can, as fast as you can.
And if you can't, get down as low as you can on your haunches, having only your feet in contact with the ground.
When everything is around you is rock, there are no low points. And yes, the hairs on your arms do stand up when electricity is in the air.

I have zero debt.

Worked on a restoration project a few years back for a "cotttage" in the Berkshires for a very well to do lady. Her cottage had the outdoor propane tank directly under the tallest pine tree on her property. Lightning hit the tree, jumped to the tank which did not do what you would think. The charge instead followed the underground propane line into her house which caused the gas stove to blow up with the expected results. Lightning can be real odd sometimes.

Collection is the hard part.
The easiest way to purify urea is to dissolve it in a methanol solution, and reduce the volume by a third. This is called crystallization.
Filter cold, and take the solids into a flask. Put solids under vacuum using standard techniques to get the last of the methanol off.
How pure do you need it?

I do what I can to use nothing much designed past the early 90s, and use much older things if they are still competitive. I hang on to electric devices til they just won't work anymore. It seems that after the early 90s, most things are designed with the idea of cutting costs and pushing a detrimental agenda rather than working dependably and lasting a long time.

It depends on how you're doing it. Shrimp soup is hard to get right. I still cross my fingers with it.
But for various sauces, here's what I do. Sautee garlic and shallots or whatever in plenty of butter. Reduce whatever wine til it's pretty close to done but not all the way. Let the shrimp cook the last minute or two in all that wine and butter and garlic. Then set it aside and get the rest of your sauce nice and cooked, cut it back to a really gentle simmer, and finish the shrimp and everything in that.

DEF, to reduce diesel emissions, is usually an organic diamine that is usually urea. It is injected into the exhaust stream.
Urea can be used, in a water solution, if injected into the exhaust catalyst area.
But you do need to remove the methanol before you make a DEF solution.

Indeed. Whenever there was some indoor event, the high ranking NCOs and officers would set their caps on a table or windowsill or whatever. I didn't understand that, we just put ours in our pockets, where they belonged.
So... I would usually take one when I was walking out. So now I have a nice collection of E8/9 insignia, Major clusters, captains, etc. My favorite is the Chaplain insignia.
Best part is knowing these goofs had to walk out of the building, hatless.

My job during Desert Storm was guarding empty barracks in Aschaffenburg. The night I discovered the bier vending machine in the day-room was one of the best things ever. 2 Mark for a fleisch.

Man I'd love to, but, if I take my wife anywhere it'll be somewhere for just us. She knows about the Horde and thinks it's pretty cool that I'm part of this community but, yeah, if I told her this is our vacation she may kill me.
And I don't blame you about the flying bit either. I've driven from Dallas Texas to Minnesota in a day. Granted I split the shift with someone, but, that was a bear.

Me and some buddies bought some E-9 insignia, and chopped the top part of, thus created the Command Private Major.
We never got caught. We prolly should have been flogged for that. Bored Soldiers are the worst.

Lavern thought Petty Officer 3rd Class was the next best job in the Navy, PO2 being the best. PO3 is E4, PO2 is E5. Explaining this for you old Army guys (happy birthday by the way). Anyway the insignia for PO3 is an Eagle over one chevron. Lavern, who had gray hair got saluted for a bird colonel everywhere. He's just return the salute of AF and Army E1s and E2s and say 'Carry on, men.' Good times.
