The Morning Report - 6/7/22

poxeclipsenow.jpg

Good morning, kids. Tuesday and on the one hand, we have two stories in the Health section regarding a couple of seemingly, tantalizingly, miracle cancer drugs. On the other hand, given the state of our nation and the world, I ask myself if I really want to live long enough to see where the hell we're headed? Even if the world doesn't go out in a blaze Chi-Com mushroom clouds or the rusty hacksaws of Religion of Peace Inc.'s head-choppers and clit-clippers, they'll give me 10 extra years but I'll run out of money after two, at the current rate of stagflation.

Despite the impending decision that trashes Roe coming perhaps by the end of this week, and the CDC (Center for Democrat Control) now calling for all of us to mask up (déjà vu) because of monkey pox, a disease primarily spread by unprotected homosexual sex (déjà vu vu), even staunch propaganda organ CNN is openly declaring the Dems are going to get wiped out this coming November.

I suppose it plays off as a counterpoint to my observations about the cancer treatments, but perhaps America needed to be brought to the brink in order for people to finally wake up and understand that what's going on is fundamentally not right. Even someone like Cardi B, who isn't exactly a Mensa candidate defended Tucker Carlson a few months ago and yesterday came out and demanded Biden (whom she campaigned for) admit the economy is in the shitter. And then there are folks like Glenn Greenwald, Matt Taibbi and even to a certain extent Bill Maher getting on the right side of at least one issue, and it is perhaps the central pillar of our nation and society: freedom of expression.

Are any or all of them going to suddenly transform into Constitutional conservatives? Well, considering we are for sure in a post-constitutional nation that question becomes moot. Maybe that's a good thing because it liberates us from being shackled to words like "liberal" and "conservative" and could lead us to the common ground found in the word "sanity." That roundabout spiel brings us to someone whose bona fides as liberal and even leftist are well known; Naomi Wolf. More and more, she is sounding about as sane as you can get, regardless of your political pedigree.

I wrote this essay some weeks ago, but I kept waiting to publish it til tragic mass shootings were no longer in the news. But that day looks as if it will never come, so I am publishing it anyway, with grief and mourning for those lost to gun violence, as we must nonetheless have this difficult conversation.

The last thing keeping us free in America, as the lights go off all over Europe- and Australia, and Canada - is, yes, we must face this fact, the Second Amendment.

I can’t believe I am writing those words. But here we are and I stand by them. . .

. . . Why do I raise this all of this?

In part because — I have evolved my view about firearms, and I understand that doing so is in fact in alignment with the Constitution. And the thing about really supporting the Constitution is that you do not get to pick and choose. I can’t choose my favorite Amendment, the easy one, the First Amendment, and then shy away from the glass-clear directive of the Second Amendment, simply as a result of my own cultural discomfort. You have to stand up for it all, if you are to call yourself a supporter of the Constitution. . .

. . . I am also re-examining my reflexes about the Second Amendment because I believe that we are at a moment that our Founders, in their nearly-Prophetic wisdom, knew might come to pass. We are at the kind of moment for which the Second Amendment may have been written in just the clear, unequivocal way that it was.

You know that I see tyranny descending all around the formerly free nations of the world. I say these days that the coup in America has already taken place — a stealthy, sneaky coup, mounted without a shot being fired.

[So-called quote-unquote "president"] Biden extended Emergency Powers in February 2022 due to [Chinese] COVID. A few days ago, he extended emergency powers again — I didn’t see this massive news covered anywhere — but this time, bizarrely, with [Chinese] COVID in retreat, he extended emergency powers due to the challenges posed by the stabilization of Iraq.

At which we must ask: who writes his material? But under emergency law we remain.

States around the country, such as New York State, where I write, are still under continually-renewed emergency laws. New York’s Governor Kathy Hochul extends emergency law month after month. . .

. . . The democratic protections of the formerly free nations of the world — Canada, the Republic of Ireland, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand — have been shut down with the ease of someone switching off a light, and with almost no resistance from citizens. Yes, there have been protests, and there have been petitions, and innumerable complaints online; and a few brave legislators have spoken up, if only to echoing chambers.

But the fact remains that when the unidentifiable police or mercenary forces, as in Canada, are violent, and the protesters have nothing but the moral high ground with which to deter their violence, then even the bravest of resistances is fleeting. . .

. . . You can hate guns. I have hated guns most of my life. I hate violence. I hate gun violence. I hate the slaughter of innocents. I am a peaceful person.

But it is becoming obvious even to us pacifists, vegans, and tree huggers, that formerly free people who are unarmed are defenseless against the criminal tyrannies exerting massive violence and control upon them.

And it is becoming obvious that similar tyrannical moves against the people of the United States have been thwarted in advance or deterred - and only state by state — pretty much only because the people of the United States have the right to own and carry weapons, and because many do so.

Boom.

Read the whole thing and bookmark it, because IMHO it is probably one of the most important essays to come along since Angelo Codevilla's that identified the ruling class, and it is delivered by someone who as even she herself admits is the last person you would ever expect to give both a full-throated defense of the Constitution in its entirety and as a clarion call and warning about the clear existential threat to our freedom that we are now facing.

Friend and friend of the blog Michael Walsh has bemoaned the fact that we constantly step on our dicks in picking who our allies are. We dismiss Naomi Wolf, and indeed Maher, Greenwald, Taibbi and even someone like Cardi B or Kanye West to our detriment. We'll never agree with them on some particular things, or even the vast majority of issues, but when the chips are down, and brother they are down right now, the more voices we have with us in the trenches the greater our chances of living through this madness.

Bravo Dr. Wolf.

I meant to include this yesterday. The World at War, Episode 17: "Morning — June-August 1944" Both Laurence Olivier's narration and Carl Davis' score made this series most memorable.

NOTE: The opinions expressed in the links may or may not reflect my own. I include them because of their relevance to the discussion of a particular issue.

I 'dismiss' the "welcome to the party, pal!" assholes like Cardi B, Maher, West and Wolf because they were laughing, dismissive, prejudiced elitist nickelfuckers until the careening 18-wheeler of cancel culture, pedophilia, economic crash and tyranny was suddenly on the verge of mowing them down, and not just the Jeebus-humping, flaggot, gun-stroking Trumpkin rubes.

They are in no sense our allies. They are using us to hide behind in order to escape the world they themselves created. Fuck them all.

43 A comment left on the Wolfe essay:
The Nazi Party was socialist in name only, just as Democrats are not really democratic and Republicans don't really believe in a Republic. The Nazis were fascists. the exact opposite of socialists. Socialism means support of ordinary working people. It means democracy in the workplace. It means prosperity for everyone not just the elite. It means a strong safety net. Capitalism is predatory. In capitalism the big fish eat the little fish. Capitalism creates billionaires and poverty - little in-between. Capitalism was originally a good thing, but it has evolved into finance capitalism, which is evil and self-destructive. It makes money by parasitism (skimming off other people's money with rent, fees, penalties, etc. ) Socialism in China lifted 850 million people out of poverty in my lifetime. Economic development in China, especially since 1978 has been - by far - the fastest growing economy the world has ever seen. China has ended homelessness; they have built a strong middle class. They are the future, while America is a dying empire where half the country is living at or near poverty.

60 That piece by Wolf was the 2nd good thing I've seen her do in the last couple weeks. Equally good and perhaps better is the interview she did with Jesse Kelly the other day regarding Pfizer, the FDA and the China virus.

If you remember Pfizer tried to hide their research and testing on their vaccine from the public for 75 years. A federal judge told them to GF and turn it all over. There are 10s of thousands of pages of documents and Wolf has been taking the lead in having them reviewed and broken down by thousands of medical and scientific researchers on a volunteer basis. What they are showing is beyond disturbing.

We have all suspected the vaccines are useless. They are much worse than useless and Pfizer and the FDA have been lying from day 1.

This is 13 minutes well spent.

96 Saint of the Day
Bl. Anne of St. Bartholomew (1549--1626) was born in Spain, one of seven children. Her parents died when the plague swept through Spain, leaving her an orphan at the age of ten. She then became a shepherdess tending her brother's sheep. From a young age she was graced with many visions. In one of them the Blessed Virgin Mary told her she would become a nun. When she tried to enter the monastery she was turned away for being too young. Years later, when her family tried to arrange her marriage, she finally entered the Carmelite monastery at the age of 21, the same one in which St. Teresa of Avila lived. St. Teresa chose Anne as her personal secretary, even though she had to teach Anne how to write. It was in Anne's arms that St. Teresa died in 1582. After Teresa's death, Anne assisted in the foundation of several other monasteries in France, becoming prioress at three of them. She went on to found a monastery in the Netherlands where she remained until her death. After her death over 150 approved miracles (and many more that have not been officially approved) were attributed to her intercession. Her feast day is June 7th.

The stunning announcement has called into question the results of our previous investigation, which determined that Lorenz was born Oct. 21, 1984, and is therefore 37½ years old.

It would also mean that Lorenz was at least 41 years old when Fortune magazine named her to its "40 Under 40" list in September 2020. Her recently updated Wikipedia page now states that Lorenz was "born c. 1978–1987." The Washington Free Beacon will not rest until we find the (long-form) birth certificate. Stay tuned!

103 This quote from the Wolf piece is the key point:

"You know that I see tyranny descending all around the formerly free nations of the world. I say these days that the coup in America has already taken place — a stealthy, sneaky coup, mounted without a shot being fired."

The continual expansion of emergency powers, with "emergencies" that never seem to dissipate, has been a thing since at least 9/11 if not The Great Depression/World War II. The coup, which actually was a revolutionary power grab, took place because for the most part Americans liked the result, at least initially. As the descent into totalitarianism speeds up, folks are having second thoughts but the truth is there likely is no turning back until the collapse is complete.

Lost in the rigging of the presidential race in 2020 is the fact that Democrats lost in an a not insignificant way in the House during that same election cycle. Forgetting that is almost virtually impossible for a second it also shows that Democrats weren't all that excited during that election cycle with where the party was headed.

There are a good many old time Democrats who aren't down with the communist drift of the party and never have been. They might not be hard core conservatives but they aren't brain dead communists either.

No, it isn't. Not yet. It's become obvious to a small minority of them, and the laundry list that Sefton provided in his preamble is a decent roundup (though I disagree on Maher - he is correct (sometimes) on only one issue).

It will become obvious to the vast balance of starry-eyed, moon-faced loony toons who think that trees grow to the sky and that rivers flow with milk and coffee only once they're enslaved, raped, murdered, etc. They won't get it until they're lashed to some Dickensian mill's wheel, marching in circles to produce rainbow flags for their armed overseers who lash them with whips while chanting about tolerance and inclusion.

Only then, at that dark moment, will they silently (for to speak will mean death) lament the loss of all they had and long for a big, scary man to pick up a big, scary gun and rescue them.

135 That Naomi Wolf piece is powerful precisely because she's still not actually on board with the 2nd Amendment. She still thinks a wait for a permit and "background checks" (as though a background check has ever stopped a crime) are "as it should be."

But that just makes the end of her piece: the realization that the only way to resist tyranny is with modern firearms - semi-automatic is the rock bottom, there - and that, as horrific as the death of any innocent is, disarming would only lead to worse - that realization is all the more powerful because she's still on the side of "common-sense laws."

I'll argue with her over particulars, but that article needs to be spread far and wide.

If the GOP were the same GOP of 2012, I'd be much less sanguine about our future. However, it's not the same GOP.

GOP leadership in Congress is still tied to 2003 mentalities, but they're not the only game in town. Trump changed everything about the party in 2016. If the GOP Congress wants to quietly assume power in 2022 with no mandate, that's fine. I don't want the mandate that they want. The lack of narrative from it just opens the doors for someone else within the party to define the party in 2024.

The 118th Congress will do nothing. The biggest story will be how they passed so little legislation. And then Trump will walk to the nomination and form the platform. I'm fine with that.

Prokofiev has done some very nice pieces, but my problem with him is that he's extremely self-referential. Themes and phrases pop up commonly throughout his work. Listen to "Peter and the Wolf" and then listen to "Romeo and Juliet" for a good example of this (or vice-versa).

I like his stuff, but I feel no need to collect his works. Have a couple of pieces and you might as well have his entire body of work. In some respects, he's a bit like the Nickleback of his era.

Deng Xiaoping was more pragmatic and he liberalized the economy somewhat while keeping all the political power. He is the guy that built modern China - though the China he built works more like fascist Italy/Germany then the Soviet Union.

Personnel is policy, and any Democrat will have to choose from the same talent pool to staff departments.

Ironically, it might have been the GOP's insistence on not working in the Trump administration that helped lead to his executive level successes like deregulation. The grifters denied themselves spots of power in such large numbers that Trump had to find people outside of the power structure.

Can We Become a Serious Country Again?

Of course we can. But some things must happen first or it will never happen. The country must get back to learning the true nature of our freedom and liberty and our founding. Why it was constructed and built the way it was. How prosperity soared in America because of it. The education system must be totally dismantled and every Marxist removed from every level of learning. Next, the Democrats must be recognized by the vast majority of America for what they really are: socialists/soft communists/totalitarians on every measure. And the true story of that ideology the world over must be taught. The truth must be told. The Unbrainwashening. Only then can we begin to rebuild what was once the greatest, most prosperous gift to mankind any nation ever brought.

In the last mostly free/fair election they had in Ukraine the western parts voted for the candidate that wanted closer ties with Europe and the Eastern parts for the candidate that wanted to balance Europe and Russia.

206 The approach HAS to be to take these people that are becoming convenient / coincidental allies and foster their appreciation for the moment and why. If Wolff is coming around on the 2nd amendment, what other parts of her leftist world view is also in complete disagreement with the Constitution ? I mean, I get that the likes of Bill Maher make far too much of their career poking fun at Trump and Bush to ever really come around, but there are plenty of people similarly positioned that could become permanent allies with a little nudge.

214 In the last mostly free/fair election they had in Ukraine the western parts voted for the candidate that wanted closer ties with Europe and the Eastern parts for the candidate that wanted to balance Europe and Russia.
-----------------
Ukraine is divided into three basic blocks - Ukes who want to join EU in the West. Russians who don't trust the west, and Ukes who see their future with Russian in the East. The one third Russian is an artifact of Stalin's Holdomor which consumed a third of the Uke population. He did the same in Kazakstan.

215 We should learn not to tinker so often in other countries politics, because this is a result.

This current war was unnecessary, and any reasonably competent American president could have avoided it through diplomacy.

For example, if Biden has offered a grand bargain that all American aid to Ukraine is contingent on Ukraine respecting the Minsk accords and no NATO in Ukraine in return for Putin guaranteeing the border of Ukraine publicly...I believe all sides would have agreed to that.

==

I have believed all along that what must happen to correct our fatal course as a nation is for us truly be "brought to the brink." Nothing short of that will wake up enough people. Knowing that it will be painful doesn't bring me any happiness, but this pampered nation...a nation that has the time and prosperity (at present) to engage in stupid soul-defeating nonsense like trannies and pronouns, CRT, drag queens, and wokeifying the country...will soon be facing some very negative consequences to their standard of living and their freedoms. Unavoidable pain is coming and it's going to be bad. We need it.

"The Barbarian hopes - and that is the mark of him, that he can have his cake and eat it too. He will consume what civilization has slowly produced after generations of selection and effort, but he will not be at pains to replace such goods, nor indeed has he a comprehension of the virtue that has brought them into being. Discipline seems to him irrational, on which account he is ever marvelling that civilization, should have offended him with priests and soldiers.... In a word, the Barbarian is discoverable everywhere in this, that he cannot make: that he can befog and destroy but that he cannot sustain; and of every Barbarian in the decline or peril of every civilization exactly that has been true.

"We sit by and watch the barbarian. We tolerate him in the long stretches of peace, we are not afraid. We are tickled by his irreverence; his comic inversion of our old certitudes and our fixed creed refreshes us; we laugh. But as we laugh we are watched by large and awful faces from beyond, and on these faces there are no smiles."

Whatever the Russians are, they aren't communist and Putin's goal, I believe, is to unite all ethnic Russians into one state. Bigger than current Russia but less than the USSR.

He has stated repeatedly, publicly, that the corruption of the West is poison and that TPTB are trying to kill whites. While he doesn't care about whites, generally, he is a Russian ethnic nationalist.

John Leguizamo had a "comedy" special Latin History for Morons.

You sound enamored of him. Daily Wire covered a 10/20/2020 appearance on the Bill Maher Show where John sez to Bill:

Actor John Leguizamo has likened Republican Latinos to roaches in favor of extermination. Speaking with Bill Maher on his HBO show last Friday, the "Moulin Rouge" actor said that Latinos engage in "self-hate" when they vote Republican.

Here's the roaches bit -- "Latin people for Republicans are like roaches for Raid," responded the actor, as reported by Newsbusters.

You know, the US government does not categorize them that way. Well depending on the agency. Some say you are Hispanic if you have a Hispanic surname (which is circular). Some say are Hispanic if you identify as Hispanic.

Thing about Hispanics is that Spain is in, umm, EUROPE. Which makes Hispanics European. It's really kind of a mess, actually. Many Hispanics ARE partly indigenous. the lovely and gracious sra blaster has about 20% South American Indian heritage. But it is not true that all Hispanics are partly indigenous. AOC's parents are Puerto Rican and most (60%) but not all Puerto Ricans have either indigenous or African heritage. So she might. But pace Leguizamo the culture is not indigenous it is European.

When government has become so unmoored from constitution, law, basic human or civil rights and respect for liberty, it takes us to a very dark place. It's why they want you unarmed and unable to defend yourself. These aren't paranoid rantings, they are demonstrably the material actions of Democrats. Our fundamental freedoms rely on not only wiping these people out in November, but making them a pariah party who shouldn't see any position of power for at least a generation, if ever again.

Rep. Cicilline-i could have stopped his statement at "I don't think." That describes every single leftist and Democrat when it comes to any issue. They don't think. They feel. Facts and reality do not matter to them.
