November 12, 2020: The possibility of $5 per gallon gas due to Joe Biden's energy-restriction policies was a right-wing conspiracy theory and fake news, experts say.

expertssaythosefearsareoverblown.jfif

expertssaygasisfine.png

Last night, The US Energy Information Agency's national average gas price calculation was, get this, four dollars and ninety seven cents and seven tenths. $4.97 7/10.

So... not five dollars.

What do you think it will be tonight?

The Tampa Bay Rays made their players wear "pride" rainbow patches, but some players refused.

On Saturday, the Tampa Bay Rays held their annual "Pride Night" game. As part of the festivities, players wore a special rainbow patch on their uniforms to support LGBTQ (and whatever new letters they've added this week) pride. Well, most players did. A few players decided to take the brave step of not playing along, choosing not to wear the patch on their uniforms.

ESPN reports that "Among players who elected to remove the logos were pitchers Jason Adam, Jalen Beeks, Brooks Raley, Jeffrey Springs, and Ryan Thompson, according to the Tampa Bay Times. According to CBS News, "Adam was elected to speak for the group after the game, saying it was a 'faith-based decision' for many of them."

Chris Jacobs, the Republican congressman who rushed to embrace gun control laws in the wake of the Buffalo mash shooting, has announced he will not seek reelection.

He was surprised to discover that his Republican constituents were strong supporters of the Second Amendment, which should tell you something about the "leadership" class's actual level of engagement with the beliefs and desires of those they presume to represent.

"This obviously arises out of last Friday, my remarks, statements on being receptive to gun controls," Jacobs said in the interview. "And since that time, every Republican elected (official) that had endorsed me withdrew their endorsement. Party officials that supported me withdrew, most of them, and those that were going to said they would not. And so, obviously, this was not well received by the Republican base."
...

Rep. Chris Jacobs' new willingness to support certain gun control legislation has led to a scramble for other Republicans to challenge him in August's primary.

For his part, Jacobs concluded that he didn't want to be part of a bitter primary battle.

"I truly believe that I could win this, but it would be an incredibly divisive race for our party, for the district," Jacobs said. "There's a high likelihood that there would be a lot of outside money coming in, so it would make this gun issue the issue. And that divisiveness is not good in any effort to move this discussion forward in a productive way."

Kathy Griffin is, get this, screaming about a hot-button topic she saw on Twitter.

And she's attacking Johnny Depp's looks.

I mean... has she seen herself?

Kathy Griffin has turned on actor Johnny Depp in the wake of his $15 million win in the Amber Heard defamation trial, calling the Pirates of the Caribbean star an "orange, fat, bloated boozebag... Donald Trump with a ponytail."

...

"I just think Depp is gross," she declared:

These Johnny Depp stans that are talking about this trial and yet they refuse to show pictures of what he looks like now, which is a big orange fat bloated boozebag. He looks like Donald Trump with a ponytail. And so they keep sticking up for him and being like, "Amber is taking down Johnny! He's so gorgeous and dreamy!"

Speaking of actors with opinions, Matthew McConnaughey spoke at the White House about gun control. For reasons I'm not sure I get, conservatives are praising him, despite his support for some gun control measures like red flag laws and increasing the age requirement for purchasing rifles to 21.

I suppose he's being praised for also mentioning social/cultural problems?

But... what about the gun control stuff?

te>

Yes, it's nice that he's not beating up on Republicans. But he's still doing the old rhetorical trick of saying, "Solutions are neither Republican nor Democrat, so let's unite and pass these Democrat solutions."

Or am I wrong?

16 I was thinking about something recently. There are several references to "sorcerers" or "magicians" in the Bible, including by apostles.

Now this is easy to disregard or mock as superstitious stupidity "They believed in magic! What losers!!" But putting aside the thought that maybe its not entirely false (ask any missionary), that's not exactly what was meant by the word.

They didn't mean a level 15 Wizard casting Lightning Bolt. Sorcery had to do with people who used drugs and psychology to control, manipulate, and delude people. It was more than trickery, it was reinforced with genuine psychological facts and medications.

Now... who does that make you think of these days? With the left playing mind games and trying to drug everyone? Especially vulnerable children?

Every Trash Panda eliminated would be sold to a furrier, and I'd get the cash,...easy peasy! Note: Made a little bit of summer cash this way!

In Killer Joe, he portrays a corrupt cop who enjoys doinking a mentally deficient girl. In The Paperboy, he plays a guy who likes to be handcuffed, slapped around, and sodomized by black men. He's really convincing too. Maybe a method actor. Or something.

4.79 on the way to work yesterday. I needed gas but put it off until after work.
5.08 was the cheapest I could find on commute back home. I pass a minimum of 8 stations.

Matt being praised is because he says some common sense stuff and also the GOPe and ConInc really want to criminalize gun owners. They just let the left do the talking for them and then of course will find the "middle ground" on "common sense" measures.

270 Interesting to look at the history of weaponry. First took what was lying around, to use for blunt trauma instead of fists. Limited by how fast you could swing a given weighted object. Then self-powered ballistics appeared, giving distance between you and the target: spears, slings, bolos etc. Then mechanical ballistics: arrow, catapult, trebuchet etc. Then propellant-aided ballistics: guns, cannon, etc.

There will always be a way to enhance your fighting ability, unless you're the Black Knight. Enacting arbitrary controls on one type of weapon will not stop lethal violence, if history is a judge.

272 Gas in Philly about two hours ago: $4.99 9/10, a deal.

Gas sales in the east side of my county, abutting Philly: $5.04 plus to almost $5.19, depending how far west from the airport. (West, like Philly, is less expensive.)

Gas in Delaware is roughly 20 cents or more less expensive than the best prices in eastern PA. And the roads & highways are clean...amazingly clean....and the State Police are everywhere.

273 Ace is not wrong. McConnaughhshey's suggestions are "reasonable" in the America long past, but we don't live in a reasonable country and haven't for at least 25 years.

Red flag laws would be used as an adjunct of the divorce rape process: a legally acceptable way to send the brutality of law enforcement to attack men when women have beef with them. That's before they before they become politicized, like the distinction between parading rioters and bomb-throwing protestors has been.

The age increase for semi-auto rifles might be reasonable in the America long past, but the question now is: for who? For what? Does anyone think this will stop the next mass shooting? Does anyone think that MSNBCNN will moderate their calls for more gun bans after the next mass shooting? Did Trump's cvcking on bump stocks cool their demands this time? If not, why give them anything?

278 How long do you think it will take Democrats to figure out that they are disarming their own voters?
https://t.co/ul7Jv6kvZl

Sen. John Cornyn of Texas, the lead GOP negotiator, has been pitching his colleagues and the public on a proposal that would place certain juvenile records - for individuals between the ages of 18 to 21 - in the FBI's National Instant Criminal Background Checks System, or NICS.

A Cornyn spokesman clarified in a statement: "A mandatory, across-the-board waiting period for 18-21 year olds is not being considered by Senator Cornyn."

Tillis said he is on board with the Cornyn plan, noting that juveniles are arrested for roughly 45,000 violent crimes each year, crimes that usually do not appear in the federal background checks system.

"It's reasonable to be able to look at those records and determine whether or not if they had been committed as an adult, they would have been a disqualifying event," Tillis said.

296 Conservatives are praising McConaughey because they are starfuckers who crumble for a celebrity.

Red Flag laws in theory are a very good law, the problem is it will be Democrat judges and prosecutors in charge, so they'll start flagging everyone, the won't be any due process or uniformity. The other problem is how most criminals don't but their guns, so thre laws addres bullcrap.

Again, the Republicans need to put forth a gun control bill, and continually point out how that bill will target 99.99% of gun crime. Their bill should be that if you're committing a crime with a gun, especially an illegal gun, you get 30 years in prison, non negotiable (this is one reason all that libertarians screaming about "non-violent drug offensives" or higher sentences for crack are full of it, because they know most of those people plead out the gun charges also coming to them) Put all actual gun criminals in prison and the murder rate will plummet, but Democrats don't want that because those are Democrat foot soldiers and voters.
