Gun Thread: It's June, Damnit! Edition

BB2 060522 scaled.jpg
It's June (Cleaver)

Howdy, Y'all! Welcome to the wondrously fabulous Gun Thread! As always, I want to thank all of our regulars for being here week in and week out, and also offer a bigly Gun Thread welcome to any newcomers who may be joining us tonight. Howdy and thank you for stopping by! I hope you find our wacky conversation on the subject of guns 'n shooting both enjoyable and informative. You are always welcome to lurk in the shadows of shame, but I'd like to invite you to jump into the conversation, say howdy, and tell us what kind of shooting you like to do!

Welp, I'm back from secret mission numero two, and all that's left now is the MoMe. The NoVaMoMe! I know I speak for my bestest blog buddy bluebell when I say we are really looking forward to next Saturday and seeing all of you people!

With that, step into the dojo and let's get to the gun stuff below, shall we?

Secret Mission #2

nh 2 060522 scaled.jpg
Serious shooters evaluating serious conditions

I had the opportunity to shoot with some of our Gun Thread pals on Friday. What a great time! It was a rifles-only day and we had the the range, with targets out to 1,100 yards, entirely to ourselves. Amazing. And the weather cooperated bigly, with light and variable winds just to keep it interesting. I don't care what activity you are pursuing, there is nothing quite like spending the day doing something you bigly enjoy with people you really like.

So how did we do? I'm here to say we have some real shooters in this group! A good variety of rifles in various calibers; .308 Winchester, 6.5 Creedmoor, .223/5.56 and .303 British were available, and all put to good use. We started on the 100-300 yd range as a warm-up, and soon adjourned to a firing point with targets from 500 - 1,100 yards, and got down to the business of making the targets look stupid.

If you have spent much time on the ol' Gun Thread you have heard me encourage practicing with a purpose, and this was no exception. Every single time I get behind a gun, even when shooting for funsies as we were doing on this trip, I am focusing on some element of basic marksmanship. I have had the good fortune to fire tens of thousands of rounds and I still concentrate on the basics, whether it be setup behind the rifle, breathing and trigger control, target alignment and wind estimation - all of the elements of good fundamental marksmanship. During this exercise, we discussed these fundamentals as various members of the group were shooting and talked through what worked and what didn't work.

Q: Weasel, so what didn't work?
A: Well, Weasel trying to hit an 18 inch plate at 1,100 yards with iron sights on a Lee-Enfield didn't work.

Hey! It's a really long way!

Despite embarrassing myself and shaming my ancestors, it was a truly outstanding day with some great amigos and I cannot wait to do it again!

I'll invite my shooting buddies to chime in and share their thoughts on the day.

First up, our pal WTM shares his experience with the Ruger P345 and dry firing.

wtm 2 060522 scaled.jpg

While in the vault looking to retrieve the S&W "lemon squeezer", I uncovered my Ruger P345, which I bought in 1995. I got the last one in stock.

I'm a big fan of Ruger firearms and have used them extensively for about 45 years now. However, their "P" series was not a landmark in pistol design and has since been discontinued. Some swear by their P series and the P345 has garnered a lot of praise, being considered a primo carry gun. It is accurate, compact, comfortable, and lighter than a 1911. Recoil in this gun is surprisingly light, given its own light weight. So what's my problem with it? Two things.

First, this pistol is very particular in its ammo. Ruger says to use only factory ammo, but I consider that nonsense. I've reloaded .45ACP for well over 40 years and have fired thousands of rounds of it with nary a misfire. But, using my pet load of Unique powder under a 230gr HCRN, I encountered numerous misfires in this 8+1 pistol. I gathered the misfires, ran them all through one of my 1911's, and every one of them fired. Curiously, I find that handloads utilizing small-primer brass DO fire reliably. To be fair to Ruger, my Glock 21 is also a finicky eater of .45ACP handloads, even though it too will digest the small-primer reloads reliably. Both the P345 and the Glock 21 produce shallower primer indentations than does the 1911, but why this circumstance affects handloads and not factory ammo is a mystery. Is there a difference in the primers? I keep the P345's and the Glock's magazines loaded with Winchester White Box, but factory ammo is too scarce and too pricey these days to use for regular target practice.

wtm 3 060522 scaled.jpg

The second shortcoming, and I learned this the hard way in 2018, is that the P345, if dry-fired without a magazine, will invariably be damaged. Mine was, and it required repair by the factory. Even though there was no charge for the repair, shipping a handgun by insured UPS is not inexpensive. It's my fault for not having read the owner's manual in the first place, which does warn against doing that (see excerpt below), but, having dry-fired my 1911's many times to break them in, I did not suspect that dry-firing the P345 even once (on a whim, I did so 4 times after cleaning) without a magazine could cause damage. And this was a RUGER, for Heaven's sake, a manufacturer whose firearms are legendary in their strength and reliability (their revolvers are, anyway). Quite the disappointment in Ruger, and I marvel that they intentionally designed their P series with these faults. At $34 per, I don't keep empty magazines for this on hand.

It is of course a double-action semiautomatic, but when fired in single-action mode, the trigger has quite a bit of creep that takes some getting used to. Otherwise, it's a very nice gun, but now I am a bit paranoid about its reliability, and that's not a good feeling to have for a firearm that may one day be called upon to defend home and family, if not person. Right now, one of my 1911's is used for home security, whereas the P345 had that honor from 1995-2018, before it was dry-fired that one episode. Now it lives in its box in the vault. Live and learn - and expect to pay $$ for the life lesson.

Great info, thanks WTM! What was your impression of the service you received from the Ruger factory?

Scientific Testing the RI Red Way
Next up, our pal RI Red shares some scientific measuring he performed recently regarding the effect of a suppressor on muzzle velocity.

ri red mv test 1 060522 scaled.jpg

Results for suppressor muzzle velocity and accuracy. A bit nerdy, so picture equals lots of words. TL, DR - suppressor slightly faster, just as accurate.

5/16/22, 80 degrees, no wind, 100 yards
Muzzle brake v. Suppressor
6.5 Creedmoor, Hornady 140 g. ELD-Match
Hodgdon 4350
From Caldwell Lead Sled

Hornady brass, Winchester LR primers
Top left target: 11 o'clock just off the paper, .800" group. Muzzle brake.
MV 2486fps, SD 24.7, ES 73

10 o'clock just off bullseye, .850" group. Suppressed.
MV 2529fps, SD 27, ES 73. POI shift -4", 43 FPS gained.

Browning nickel-plated brass, CCI BR-2 primers
Bottom left target: 11 o'clock from bullseye, hit 7 o'clock off middle left target, .574" group. Muzzle brake.
MV 2457fps, SD 14.9,ES 45

10 o'clock from bullseye, .610" group. Suppressed.
MV 2469fps, SD 3.8, ES 10. POI shift -3.5", 12 FPS gained.

Lessons learned:
1. Bipod and sandbag is more stable than lead sled. There is a lot of play, comparatively, in the sled. Heart beat and breathing were more noticeable, and it was not a comfortable shooting position.
2. The reloads in Browning nickel-plated are better all around than the Hornady brass.
3. The CCI Bench Rest 2 primers appear to give a more uniform ignition and burn than the Winchester Large Rifle.
4. Accuracy is virtually the same between brake and suppressor.
5. POI shift for suppressor is -3.5' to -4". No horizontal shift.
5. Suppressor increased MV slightly.
6. Best, most uniform results are from suppressed Browning nickel-plated brass with BR-2 primers.

And this, folks, is how that is done. Very nice, RI Red!

What are your thoughts on the muzzle brake v. suppressor results? Surprised?

Our pal blaster reports on some gunsmithing for the Ruger P95.

rir p95 1 060522 scaled.jpg

I finally found an adapter plate for a Ruger P95. This was a struggle though. The frame mounted de-cock lever is on both sides and that made it not fit in the slide pusher. Had to take the extractor out to get one side off and that was enough. And getting the plate seated in the dovetail mount took a lot of hammering. I have a little gunsmith hammer with a nylon head and ultimately I got it properly seated.

I like the way it came out. But I don't know that I will do the other P95. It was a LOT of work. If I do I will have it done by a gunsmith. Next to see how it shoots. This one is very prone to limp-wristing and I just added mass (not much but some) to the slide.

Cigar of the Week
Our pal rhomboid brings it with another excellent cigar review. Thanks rhomboid!

rhomboid 1 060522 Monte White Series 1A scaled.jpg

Herewith another see-gar review, this time of the Montecristo White Series. So far in my still young-ish exploration, it leads in the category of a mild yet flavorful cigar with perfect construction, though that Joya de Nicaragua Antano Connecticut I reviewed earlier may be a tie-vote for that category.

Montecristo White Series - a well-established standard for quality mild-medium cigars. This one in the corona vitola (size), formally the No. 3 Especial, 5.5" X 44. Ecuador-grown Connecticut wrapper, Nicaraguan and Dominican long fillers. I'm getting mostly coronas now. Shorter smoke, and the shape tends to emphasize the qualities of the wrapper due to proportions of wrapper/filler, so easier to choose your flavor profile more reliably. Ample rich smoke, smooth, some mild flavor hints, I'd say in the nut and wood category. Perfect construction and burn. Available online for around $6/stick, and up. Highly recommended for newbies or those looking for a very good mild cigar. Oh - and Colt Magnum Carry revolver. Also highly recommended, but slightly more scarce and expensive.

Excellent review, thanks Rhomboid! Anyone else care to share a review of a cigar they liked or even disliked?

I saw this comment on today's First-World Problems Thread, too late respond before the Food Thread went up:

My problem, my favorite cigar brand unerringly make a cigar of great construction, draw and taste at a reasonable price. They also glue the bands just enough to rip the wrapper about 50 percent of the time. While smoking the last bits of a cigar is a pleasure a cracked wrapper makes me sad.

Posted by: USNtakim deplorable, now with ultra maga at June 05, 2022 03:47 PM (0OmEj)

PROTIP: If you aren't already, smoke the cigar until you're close to the band. Sometimes the heat will loosen the glue enough to aid in removal.

Have to say it was a pleasure shooting this past Friday with Weasel, CBD and our host RI Red.

It was a fantastic time and especially nice was the weather cooperated big time.

It especially helped that Weasel was my spotter. ;-)

32 Ok, lot's of info to go back to and consider. First off, yes, I will be at the MoMe. Weasel, you and Bluebell have my phone etc. I'll be getting into the area Friday and am really happy to help with any set up. Unfortunately, Giggles will not be with me, as we are not able to have her come to VA twice in two weeks.
Why is she coming to VA, but not to the MoMe? 'cause we're going to Argentina to shoot wildlife at the end of the month and she's meeting me here, then we go to Atlanta (everyone has to go thru Atlanta) and on to Buenos Aires

What are you all doing for your anniversary?

'Cause I didn't wanna be embarrassed when the 2nd safe is delivered, next week. Of course, the side benefit is now I can dive into a long overdue project, a detail cleaning of every single item of Canoe Ballast I can dig out. Preparatory to all this, I also purged and reorganized all the clothing drawers, and ended up with several plastic grocery store bags full of cotton items perfect for use as gun-rags. Which, I expect to burn through at a furious rate, I've much cleaning to do!

43 Answering my own question, I am thinking it would. The larger cartridge in the 1911 produces more of that (legendary) .45 recoil, making it take longer to put on target after firing.
The carbine is steady as a rock, smaller cartridge.

45 I won't be able to get to the range for about a month. So I'm focused on making the guns in the safe look pretty and reading and watching lots about firearms. It's therapeutic.

First, last week I mentioned I have a 357 Blackhawk from first year made, 1955. It came with some crappy plastic grips. It now has almost pure white holly grips from Texas Grips. Perfect fit. That gun has the slight purple-ish tinge that some of the older Rugers developed over the decades. Those holly grips look fantastic against the deep blue. Since that revolver will only be used with 38 special wadcutter loads, I don't need recoil absorbing rubber grips.

Yay, me!

54 I have one of the original Ruger P85s in 9mm, back when it was their contender for the military contract that eventually went to Beretta. It's built like a tank, as most Rugers are, but the trigger pull is measured in inches and not mm. I use it as a test platform for my reloads. If my powder charge will cycle the P85, it'll cycle all of my other 9mms. Also, I figure there's little chance I'll generate a load so hot that it'll blow that gun apart.

Concur. The field reports from the Marines who used it were very favorable. The 2 drawbacks were the bayonet was an afterthought and besides minor issues with small parts etc. Melvin Johnson was just not capable of producing it in the numbers demanded like the M1 Garand.

I think Melvin went on to work for ArmaLite and of course we know what came out of that.

61 Weasel! Horde! Last week I asked for advice on cleaning a 1911, and as always, the Horde delivered! On Monday, armed with last week's thread and several recommended videos, I field stripped, half-ass cleaned, lubed, and reassembled my new Rock Island 1911. I got stuck a few times, but nevertheless, I persisted! I know this is basic stuff but it's a BFD to me.

Friday night I took it to the range and shot about 20 rounds. I'm thrilled to report that the gun functioned perfectly! (The shooter, alas, was not so good, but I got closer to where I was aiming with each effort and all but 1 shot on paper.) It feels great and is fun to shoot. I'm stoked that I finally have my very own 1911 to hug and squeeze and call George, and that I didn't eff it up taking it apart!

70 Also, sra blaster went to the range on Memorial Day to one try out the new XL and to see if we could figure out how we had lost our mojo on her P365.

I figured mine out - finger placement on the trigger. I noticed switching between the P365 and the P365 XL - the XL has one of those flat triggers. What I was doing with hers was getting the trigger in the first joint of my finger instead of the pad of my finger. So I was pulling back and it would angle the pistol off a bit. Shooting with the flat trigger revealed that to me.

sra blaster got her mojo back but cannot figure out what was wrong the other day. She thinks maybe shoe just shoots better in heels. I am not going to argue with her.

98 Weasel asks: What was your impression of the service you received from the Ruger factory?

I was pleased with the factory service although it took almost 3 weeks to get the P345 back and cost about $105 to ship it there. Return shipping was on them. They were evidently in a hurry, for there was a part that had not been reinstalled correctly, but I was able to fix that. Haven't fired it since, but I will take it out soon since I have about 200 rounds of small-primer handholds and an itchy trigger finger.

113 So I also took a couple of revolvers to the range to get reacquainted:

I had not shot the S&W model 1917 (1937 Brazilian contract) in several months. It shoots .45 in moon clips. I was missing entirely until I remembered that (duh) the sights are pretty different from the last gun I had in my hand, and I need to adjust accordingly. Much better! I like this gun, but think I need to change the grips as it is a little awkward to get my finger in the proper place on the trigger.

I finished my day with a S&W K frame .22 from Jesse's collection. The scuttlebutt is that it survived a house fire 40ish years ago. It's not pretty, but shoots just fine. I practiced shooting it double action some (following Jim SND's advice from last October).

I've noticed a couple things when shooting revolvers, which I generally do a little better than semiautos. If I miss with revolvers, I'm high, and not the classic low/left flinch I have with semiautos. Also, I can usually see the shot hit the target with a revolver. I think I'm closing my eye(s) at the wrong moment when I shoot semiautos. I have no explanation but this may be information I can use.

134 Re #71, Grump's comment about sketchy websites selling ammo. Yesterday after the pistol match one of the older regulars recounted how his search for powder had led to one of these places - only accepted some bank-to-bank transfers, no credit cards. A bit skeptical, he Zillow'd the business address. What appeared to be a small abandoned building (their web photos showed a yuuuge well-stocked warehouse).

So.

I would say, based on these two data points, that there is a thing here. Don't recall this happening in '13 (last big panic), but "progress", I guess. Be aware. Best of all, probably just buy from the usual sources, of course when/if they get stock.

"We're not going to do anything that compromises the ability of a law-abiding Americans to be able to buy a weapon. What we're talking about is trying to make sure that dangerous or potentially dangerous individuals don't have their hands on weapons."

They are just going to expand the definition of who is a potentially dangerous individual through vaguely worded red flag laws which strip people of their rights without due process and a labyrinthine process to prove innocence to unaccountable accusers.

156 Speaking of 1911s (aren't we usually?), yesterday at the handgun match I had probably the worst ever performance since I've been doing them, which is a few years now.

1911, which is OK - stock trigger/etc, which by now *should* be "shot-in" a bit and smoother, but it really isn't. That's OK, I've learned I can shoot if adequately with concentration and added support hand pressure over what's normal for me with semis.

Lots of strong-hand-only and weak-hand-only stages. I knew those would be brutal for me, and they were. Normal freestyle at normal ranges was OK.

One thing I love - problems whose only solutions involve .... more shooting. Here's one. Quit the indoor range last year, haven't done nearly the weekly round count as before. So after-hours at the outdoor range, here we come.

Nurse, if you can afford it (big IF for a lot of people, I know), I can wholeheartedly recommend the Benelli M4. Yes, it's a lot of coin ($2K +), but it's arguably the softest shooting, most rugged, and most reliable 12 gauge tactical combat shotgun for full power defense rounds/slugs on the market today. If you get one, I suggest that you pay the extra $$ to acquire the Military/Law Enforcement model that comes with a full 7 shot magazine tube and collapsible stock. The collapsible stock comes in handy if your arms don't work too well for the Benelli's length of pull.

180 For those with an interest in BP guns and history, Mike Beliveau's (Duelist1954) latest YT video is about the Colt Paterson revolver. Most cap and ball shooters know the basic story but Mike's video provided a lot of information about Colt the man and some of the innovations he began in manufacturing. It also provided the best practical demonstration I've seen of how they were loaded, how they were used successfully in combat, and the many downsides of the design.

It was a good practical lesson in history and worth the time to watch.

181 "Much like Iraq and Afghanistan, we will never win WWIII with Russia and China if I can't drive a thumbtack at 1000 meters. We need to consider terms of surrender now."

The Taliban has for a very long time played the range game. They would determine the effective range of an adversaries weapons and ensure theirs would reach longer distances. When they determined many of our 5.56 rounds were less effective beyond the 300 meters- guess what they did? They did it with the British in the 19th century by using Jezzail Flintlocks, and again with the Soviets by using Mauser and Lee Enfields. Part of our response was to focus on different rounds, which is why you see different 5.56 variants going out during those years. Others were developments like the m110 which more effectively accurately tossed to 800 meters or so. It's also by the M22/MRAD is a very important development. Distance is life. YMMV

I take it the industry has been working flat-out - sort of similar to gun and ammo industries - for a few years now, won't be surprised if quality assurance problems show up here/there. Premium cigar imports into the US *doubled* in one year, I believe, 2020 to 2021 I think it was. 214 Posted by: nurse ratched at June 05, 2022 08:08 PM (U2p+3)

Nurse, the Benelli M4 uses a gas operating system, not an inertial system that most other semi-auto shotguns use. That gas operating system eats up a lot of recoil, making quick follow up shots a lot easier. It also allows you to go full "tacti-cool" mode on your shotgun. Extra weight from red dot sights, flashlights, extra rounds, or other devices hamper an inertial system's operation, preventing round extraction or feeding. The Benelli's gas system doesn't care about what you hang on your M4. That's probably the reason why the USMC uses the Benelli M4 as its shotgun of choice.

218 So, based on the deft pResidential leadership I could see unfolding I decided to buy some more canoe ballast.
I had been thinking about the G17 Glock after I had test fired a demo model, but kept putting it off. Foolishly, I did not act on this until the factory installed MOS one was unavailable.
But the latest blatant coordinated maneuver to subvert that pesky 2A lead me to conclude upgradable canoe ballast is better than no canoe ballast, so I hied myself to the storied MCG range, which just happened to also be a Glock dealership.
They were nice enough to let me handle several models and I eventually test fired the G17 and the G19x. I concluded that the G19x grip just seemed far more natural for me, so I went with it (even though I kept thinking what would General Patton say about someone carrying a Flat Dark Earth pistol).
So I will be using iron sights for a bit but hope to upgrade to Holosun green dot optics in the very near future.

Most of the ones I saw had the wooden stocks and furniture replaced with fiberglass, with Picatinny rails, modern optics, better triggers, and match grade barrels attached. But I still saw a few M14s in their original configuration out there among the infantry.

Robert, you'll need to define what you goes into your ratings for "good," "great," and "awesome." For me, that's the optic's ability to take a beating w/o any problems in using the scope. Trijicon and Aimpoint go to the top of the heap for me for that reason. The Trijicon ACOG and Aimpoint Comp M4 are GI and Marine resistant. Therefore, they should be able to withstand anything you can dish out as a user and still work as advertised. I've seen these optics get stepped on, bashed around inside vehicles, and get hit by stray shrapnel in combat and not only continue to function, but keep their zero. Yes, they cost $$.

I did make it to the range this week. I needed to sight in two newly mounted red dots.

I made a earth shattering discovery - if you turn your adjustment screws in the opposite direction that will move your point of impact to where you want it to be, you will spend at least twice as long at the range and use roughly twice as much ammo as would otherwise be necessary.

Who knew?

I mean for a Daniel Defense top of the line AR-15 the tax would top at at about $2,500,000. Someone is gonna be getting that cash.

Here's an idea: a thousand-percent retroactive tax on any firearm actually used for an assault, as evidenced by a conviction in a court of law.

Ben Had,
Good for you! I've long thought that a shorter barrel 20 gauge pump loaded with #4 shot makes a great home defense weapon. Easier to control, not quite as loud, and less wall penetration (if that's a consideration). Deadly at household distances and it will still shoot through a door if needed. Fortunately, I haven't had to put my theory to the test.

294 71 I am a victim of caliber creep, now to include 5.7X28 in my magazine. So I started shopping around and have encountered an interesting thing. The best per round prices I find online are about -30% from the name vendors. But they don't take credit cards and they only sell bulk. Venmo, Paypal etc. The things that won't back you up on a rip off.

I think they are scams.

I've noticed the same thing with reloading components. No-name online "sellers" with much better availability and pricing than established vendors, but dodgy payment terms. I agree, they're probably scams, and to be avoided.

Those things were about as accurate as the old 57mm, 90mm and 106mm recoiless rifles the Army used during and after WWII.

I shot a 106mm one in Infantry school and it took the instructor 3 .50 cal tracer rounds to zero it on target before we could shoot. When we hit the target tank the round ricocheted and went about a mile up in the air, came down and started a fire on the range.

301 The problem is the ammo. Which is now old ammo.
Posted by: Hairyback Guy at June 05, 2022 09:00 PM (R/m4+)

Exactly. If one could reverse-engineer the manufacture of the ammo, perhaps the guns would be viable once more. My understanding, which may be faulty, is that the projectiles were hollow, loaded with smokeless powder as a propellant, with 3 or 4 canted holes around the rim of the base. Ignition was by a conventional primer in a conventional primer pocket.

But what were the projectiles made from, and how were they assembled and charged?

One reason the Soviets disliked and distrusted us and the Brits was because we sent troops to Murmansk and Vladivostok in 1918 and/or 1919 to help the White Russian forces (that's a huge simplification of a complex situation and time). The Japanese also sent troops to Vladivostok. Not much harm there - the Russians of all political stripes hated the Japanese because of the 1904-05 war. A very rarely mentioned or written about slice of history.

GyroJets would be excellent in orbit; minimal recoil to throw you off.

352 For changing AR barrels one tool that's really nice to have is a barrel rod. You clamp one end in your vice and slide your upper over the other end and it locks into your barrel extension. Then you can crank on your barrel nut without torquing on your aluminum upper, torque specs are 35-85 ft pounds so some are on pretty tight. You'll need an AR wrench for a A2 style handguard or a 1"-1 1/4" wrench for free floating hand guard. Pull your gas block, leaving the gas tube attached for easier re-installation. Have fun!

353 I shot a 106mm one in Infantry school and it took the instructor 3 .50 cal tracer rounds to zero it on target before we could shoot. When we hit the target tank the round ricocheted and went about a mile up in the air, came down and started a fire on the range.

I only got to shoot the spotter rounds. I did get to shoot a LAW. Once was enough. Did hit a hulk about 100m away.

How dare the west try to keep the Russians in the fight, and thwart the c*cksuckers who had declared war on all existing governments worldwide?

//Your Kid's College History teacher

but yeah a lot of problems would have been solved more efficiently had there not been a lot of commie symps in a lot of allied high commands even then.

General Graves took a thankless task and made it a useless one.

356 A late hello to the Horde, and thanks to Weasel for another excellent thread! Anyone have experience / opinions on the IWI Jericho in 45 ACP? It's recently become a focus of my googling...

361 Regarding these cross vice things. No clue what you're going to do with them, but I found them to be less than optimal. One of the shops i work out of had one of those on a decent size floor model drill press that they tried to make small parts on for the harleys. I'm talking little shit, like little aluminum brackets, or modifying certain parts for fit and it was a nightmare. Chatter, vibrations out the wazooo, etc. By the time it was adjusted to where there wasn't much deflection you almost had to be hercules to move it. I made them get a real one eventually, and then it was game on. Yeah, I'm a tad biased from working on actual milling machines, but I was horrified by the performance of the cross vices. The only thing I can say is very...very tiny bites, and use super sharp end mills, and forget anything over mild steel. What it was actually good for was accurate drilling. Now, if I can only get them to get a good lathe they can stop buying stupid axle spacers that are never the right size. lol

367 Here in Commierado the dems killed state preemption on gun laws. They knew it would lead to a disjointed patchwork of local laws.

The lib bastions of Boulder and Denver are taking the lead. Now local suburbs are playing me-too.
