Hey CBD-
Here's a suggestion for the Art Thread. Show us only about 25-30% of the picture. Leave gaps as if it is a jigsaw puzzle missing most of the pieces. We'll go ahead and make up the rest out of whole cloth, like we do with most news stories. Maybe one out of a hundred will come up with the correct full picture. But the other 99 wrong results will be entertaining. Posted by: Muldoon at May 26, 2022 09:32 AM (cPDW+) 9

And to top it off, Republicans tried to push a bill in the Senate that the Parkland parents have been trying to get passed since that horror show occurred, but Chuck You Schumer said: "Nope, that puts more guns in schools." ******* Odd. When I was in high school a church group was returning to CO from Canyon de Chelley and one of our vehicles broke down (after dark) somewhere in Navajo country. I volunteered to stay with the vehicle while the rest of the group went on to the next town for help. While sitting there in the dark, amid the silence I heard an eery moaning/wailing sound coming from the nearby hills. Yeah, he has a big ego, but justifiably so. That's alright. And he doesn't seem to be afflicted with all the personal issues the rest of the Beatles have. Pepsi has sponsored its Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show since 2013 and noted that it had sponsored 26 musical acts representing 168 Grammys throughout the time. Pepsi added that the move represents a “larger strategic shift to bring unprecedented music and entertainment experiences” to consumers “where they are now, and where they will be in the future,” AdWeek reported. “As entertainment evolves, and the way people consume music changes, Pepsi is intent on showing up and showing out,” Pepsi added. The NFL claims that a long line of potential sponsors are already asking for Pepsi’s spot. Posted by: SMOD at May 26, 2022 10:44 AM (RHGPo) 356

The actor of the day is sometimes an actress.
Tia had a good-girl / bad-girl fight in True Lies with Jamie Lee Curtis. Curtis is more funny than Sigourney Weaver (the action-sci-fi female standard-bearer) but not as tough as far as I can tell. Tia would kick her ass in real life. Posted by: BourbonChicken at May 26, 2022 10:49 AM (44ww/) 379
Regarding the Beatles, and music in general, I mentioned to my wife the other day, that, one of the great thins about shows that are period pieces, supposedly happening around in the seventies, etc., is the sound tracks tend to be outstanding.

One apartment we lived in during '88-'89 spooked my cat Arizona. He would not go into the bathroom of the place without me there; I had to place his litter box in the corner of my bedroom. I never noticed anything odd. When I moved out, though, my landlord told me my predecessor there had painted the bathroom walls black and had black candle wax residue all over. . . .
Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius at May 26, 2022 10:41 AM (txdEq) I knew a man, quite reliable and level headed, who lived in an older apartment (building about 100 years old) He said he never had any problems at all in the place, but whenever he left a girlfriend alone there (and it happened to several of them) he said things would fly off the shelves and be thrown at them until they left. But when he was there everything was quiet. Posted by: Tom Servo at May 26, 2022 10:49 AM (trdmm) 385

I do. If anything by that band or any member of the band comes on my radio, I turn it off. I don't waste time trying to change the station, just turn it directly off. The only, ONLY exception to this rule is Live and Let Die. I prefer the Guns n Roses version.

You don't get it because you weren't listening to the music at the time. They sounded different, fresh. You can't look back and understand that.
Posted by: Notsothoreau at May 26, 2022 *** I was about 10 when, listening to my Christmas gift transistor radio, I first heard the Beatles. At first I thought the name was spelled like the insect. They did sound great. But there was a lot of good Top 40 pop tunes back then -- Dean Martin and Sinatra still had a couple of Top 40 hits in the early and mid-'60s. I think part of the reason of the near-veneration of the Beatles is that they *looked* different, but not so weird as to turn off the teenage high school girls. The Fab Four in 1964 were pretty clean-cut compared to musicians 10 years later. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius at May 26, 2022 11:03 AM (txdEq) 470

The worst drum track of any Beatles song is Back in the USSR and McCartney played those drums. Ringo is a superb drummer. Ask George Martin if you don’t believe me.
Ask pretty much any famous drummer. There's a video on YouTube of famous drummers (Stewart Copeland and Dave Grohl to name two) flat-out fangirling over how Ringo played. He wasn't flashy or bombastic like Keith Moon or John Bonham, he played exactly what fit each song and stayed in the pocket. Posted by: Ian S. at May 26, 2022 11:07 AM (ZGrMX) 482
