You can also get 3-ply yarn from one single (with no waste) by chain plying.

39 My grandmother went to college in the 1920's and while away at college she bobbed her very long hair because that was the fashion.
It was apparently so momentous for her family that she kept that roll of hair in a net in her vanity until she died. I remember coming across it when I was young, she saved pennies for me in that same drawer. We had the same color of hair.
While cleaning out dad's home office I ran across it again, and I have to figure out what to do with a 100 year old coil of my grandmother's hair.

You don't eat Fugu for the flavor, you eat it for the lovely warm lassitude the minute traces of neurotoxin the flesh next to the fins and liver gives you. It also makes your extremities slightly numb and tingly, which includes your schwantzstucker, and may make your girlfriend or wife happier should you decide to get intimate and you don't go into respiratory arrest.

A bud of mine had some at the encouragement of his Japanese GF, and he complained later of lower back pain, so that apparently is a side effect too.

93 Adventures in model building and am I the only one who is noticing this? Bought the Eduard mask set for the HK B-17F in 1/48 scale.

Some of the masks are so tiny would need tweezers and a microscope to install, so those are not going on and since this is the Sperry ball turret very few would notice.

Now it gets interesting. The masking set seems to omit a mask for clear part U8 but includes a mask for V25. On all three clear part trees there is no V25 but the instructions say there is in Step 20 and on the kit is an opening for V25.

Oh Step 20, what a tangled mess that step is. It also shows clear part U20 being installed, except first examination of the plastic shows no spot for U20. You have to look inside the parts to spot the indentation that needs to be cut out for U20. But if you build a late F with the astrodome, you do not open up the hole for U20.

So yes this kit is a challenge in more ways than expected.

196 Re: colorized historical films -- does anyone else get the feeling that they aren't real because we're so used to seeing the real things in black and white?

As for the 1929 gals, my grandmother (U. of Oregon grad) was a flapper. She lived to be 100 and a half. Great woman (especially in putting up with my grandfather with style and class). Gotta say, though, the 20's and 30's -- *to me* -- are not attractive clothing styles for women. They're like the early 19th century in that regard, but probably, at those times, a welcome change from earlier styles.

I had some friends that bought a rental based on the fact that it had a bar within walking distance and there were a lot of women outside. They stopped by and found it had pool tables +1, lots of women +2, great beer and shots deals +1. Turns out it was a lesbian bar (sad trombone) but the owners and the women never had a problem. The girls were off limits but the drinkin was good and they could walk home when they were too sloshed to play pool. When bands were there they'd call out the women, "Hey Ladies" and they'd all scream "YEEEEEAAAAH!!!", and then they'd point to my two friends, "and two guys", and they'd go, "hey".

Its counterintuitive. I often dated interraciallly more than 20 years ago, and maybe its less of a thing now, but then it wasn't THAT common, it was harder to meet people and figure out whether they wanted to or not, and both people had to really want to because there was some subtle pushback from many other people in many environments. You would think if your thoughts revolved around looking for racism, you wouldn't be motivated to put forth the effort to do so. Its weird how many of them do it.

Now a candidate can lend his campaign $250,000 at 20% interest, and the campaign can fundraise for a decade after the election to "pay it back". Like a reverse mortgage, but better. Great for a representative who can pull that trick ever 2 years and have multiple campaign loans in payback status.

A lot of it was filmed around our office building. I have a bunch of still pictures and some video's. Probably could have sold some on the net pre release.

352 343 Men have been restrained for generations by law, culture, ethical training, and personal discipline. We are taught not to raise that fist even though its part of our nature.

Not to women, it's not. We do not ever raise the fist to women.

Women have just been encouraged more and more by all of that to use their worst weapons freely and without restraint.

There are huge numbers of women out there who are not like that. Really. Maybe not in LA, or San Francisco, but they're out there, in the real world.

If you don't donate he can't do that. If you do donate, well, you get what you rented.*

*Politicians are whores - you do not marry them, you rent them on an hourly basis with a steep increase in the rate depending on what you want done.

Because if the patrons are gay, that means the drinks must be fake.

358 I think the point of the Cruz argument which Clarence Thomas agreed with by the way is being mischaracterized. It's the 250k limit on what a candidate can loan his campaign which was the issue. A Free Speech issue. I do though believe strongly there has to be a interest rate limit and find it hard to believe there is not one.

361 Men are often warned that if you have desires towards a woman, you don't want to find yourself falling into the "friend zone".

But in my observation as a bartender over 3 decades, this is actually one of the hunting methods of the lesbian.

She attached herself to the non-lesbian as a best friend, then bides her time awaiting the moment when her non-lesbo friend has a bad break up with a boyfriend, and then tries to smother her with attention and "let's get drunk" nights hoping that she might make her move while the non-lesbo's defenses are down.

I've seen it many times.

362 I am not going to get into bitter recriminations about my exes, but in my experience, (not personal by the way, I was lucky that way) a lot of domestic violence goes both ways.
However the domestic violence intervention industry comes in with the concept that only men are batterers, and a lot of women to avoid criminal and social consequences go along with that fiction.
I think it has bad consequences for the woman too, if she can never admit there was a problem. Especially if she thinks she has to keep the story straight going through AA or something similar, where one of the pillars is honesty.

I wonder if the Depp/Heard trial is going to have any effect on the popular view of spousal abuse?

366 Got a ticket in Meeker CO once many moons ago. Had to appear. I guess since I had a job, they made me wait all day watching court proceedings. Couple of dykes were arguing about a knock down drag out fight they had. I thought they were going to get after it in court. The judge was not amused. Meeker is a very small farming/ranch town.

I don't know. when someone is forced to defend a lie, the lie becomes more important than any truth that would expose it. It is how we are made. We would rather burn heretics than weigh their claims of reform.

Heard is for the long drop I am afraid. She may never work again since she is a "female domestic batterer" and breaks too many rules and might make people think.

She is a movie star, she doesn't need to act, she just needs to be able to look well.
