AoSHQ Weekly Prayer List

Please submit any prayer requests to me, “Annie’s Stew” at apaslo@hotmail.com (apaslo atsign hotmail dot com). Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks unless we receive an update.

Prayer Requests:
2/12 – D asked for prayers for John Rogers and his family. John was diagnosed with liver cancer last week and is at stage 3. He is not doing well and any prayers for him and his family would be appreciated. His daughters are 8, 11, and 14. A “GoFundMe” has been established if anyone wishes to contribute: https://gofund.me/1fe7aabb
5/6 Update – John is home and the treatments for cancer are helping him keep food down. He has lost a lot of weight, but his faith is getting him through this. Everyone is very grateful for the prayers being sent their way. They are still waiting to see if this is just one cancer they are dealing with or two, but it is liver cancer for sure.
5/12 Update – John had to go back to the hospital because of issues with the treatments he has been taking. They are now also dealing with a blood clot in his kidney.

2/26 - Long-time reader Birkel’s wife has a medical concern. Hoping for the best but worried it might be a bad diagnosis. Please pray that it’s just a scare and nothing life threatening. God bless you all.
3/21 Update – They are still waiting for a proper diagnosis. 3D imaging is next.
4/23 Update – Birkel sends an update: “Birkel would like to report that prayers were answered. What was quite a scare has resulted in an all clear. Thank you all for the kindness you showed. I hope I’ll live long enough to deserve such a wonderful group of Morons and a wife who makes my life special every day. Thank you.”

4/2 – April asked for prayers for Mr. April, who had some abnormal test results, which may mean he has cancer again. Also, he thinks he is ready to stop drinking. Please pray for his health and sobriety.
4/30 Update – Mr. April’s tests came back without anything worrisome, so it was either a false alarm or quick healing response to the prayer warriors. Thanks, friends.

4/19 – BA offers prayers of thanks that his mother got to enjoy Easter from heaven, as she passed away last week (at age 100).

4/30 – MKC sends prayers of thanksgiving for all, and for his SIL who successfully underwent brain surgery a week ago to remove a benign tumor.

5/2 – creeper sends a request that a fellow blogger needs our prayers. MOTUS is fighting two brain tumors, metastasized from esophageal cancer.

For submission guidelines and other relevant info, please contact Annie's Stew, who is managing the prayer list. You can contact her at apaslo at-sign hotmail dot com. If you see a prayer request posted in a thread comment, feel free to copy and paste it and e-mail it to Annie's Stew. She tries to keep up with the requests in the threads, but she's not here all of the time, so she may not see it unless you e-mail it to her. Please note: Prayer requests are generally removed after four weeks or so unless we receive an update.

Romans 8:26-27
26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.

Years ago I saw a pickup truck towing an open trailer with what appeared to be household goods on it in the opposite lane leave the roadway and dive into the median coming straight at me. Shit flying everywhere but I was able to shit lanes and get out of his way before he crossed my lane of traffic. The trailer stayed hitched to the truck the whole time.

35 Geez, Martini Farmer. That would get the heart rate going.

Some years ago, I was driving from OH to TN, and came upon a tractor trailer in the median. It had lost the front left wheel, and plowed a deep furrow from where it left the road to where it came to rest (upright) just inches from oncoming traffic.

I said a prayer of gratitude for skilled truck drivers and the grace of God.

36 This is interesting and fun reading-

"Interstellar Travel is Hard"
https://tinyurl.com/vepc7eaf

Even (most) of the comments are interesting. The issue gets all stirred up with the Fermi Paradox, of course, but the no IT with people for you seems to have the best of it cuz-

1) The universe, as we understand it, doesn't allow for FTL travel. No warps, wormhole use, nuthin'.
2) The energy issue. Huge amounts of energy required for the distances required. Fuel requires fuel to carry the fuel, etc. Maybe small load (robotics) solar wind sails. Still gotta be huge to work.
3) Space ain't empty. Plenty of rocks out there from the particle to planet size. An itty bitty pebble can kill you going at fast sunlight speeds.
4) Cosmic rays. Can't block them. Chances are you'd be a pile of cancer long before the journey ends. The magnetic field required to block them runs into the energy problem.
5) Not really mentioned but heat dispersal generated by energy source. Thermodynamics is a bitch yo!
Anyway...check it out.

64 You want to bring down inflation?
Let’s make sure the wealthiest corporations pay their fair share.

That is a non-sequitur, followed by gibberish.

What is meant by "wealthiest corporations"? And why is it corporations, not include wholly owned properties of Blackrock or some other hyper wealthy entity?

What is meant by "fair share"? Fair share of what? Taxes? Fees? Fines? Regulatory bloat? Bribes? Who defines what "fair share" is? What makes it "fair" and by whose authority?

"Pay" implies fees for services earned. Since the government is violently hostile to human flourishing and is a comprehensively massive burden on "corporations", wouldn't "fair" mean that the Fed prints up more fiat and hands it over to "corporations" for the negative "service" that government imposes?

When over half the country doesn't pay taxes, rather grabs money from the treasury, when tens or hundreds of billions are just handed out to anyone around the world, how is it possible to even use the word "fair"?

It might just be something that you're saying in passing to a friend as you walk down the ice cream aisle, and a mom who is depressed hears it and it changes her outlook for that day, affecting her kids, and her youngest grows up and does something important.

And it was because of you.

88 Looking here at my handy-dandy ERCOT energy load app which is telling me that customers of ERCOT in Texas are in risk of having rolling blackouts.

Sure glad I saw the trend and moved the hell out of ERCOT and into a different power grid that has a greater reliance on coal and nuclear.

Texas politicians (read: GOP-e) have permanently screwed Texas by importing Communists from California while at the same time destroying the reliable grid in favor of unreliable just for the sake of attempting to win the approval of people that will continue to hate them.

Texas will be California and there is nothing that can be done about it except flee or accept your fate.

126 I received a letter yesterday saying that I was turned down for an auto loan by Ally Bank. This was for a dump truck and a pickup truck I bought over a month ago and I had no idea Ally was even involved. The dealer delivered the trucks the same day and never mentioned any problem. They financed through GM Financial at their best rate.

This is a new experience for me. I've never been turned down for a loan in my life. In the letter from Ally, they say I have a score of 891 out of 899 from TransUnion and my FICO score is 850 out of 850. But apparently, an agency called "SageStream" owned by Lexus/Nexus gave me a score of 625 out of 999. I have no idea what that is about. Has anyone else ever heard of SageStream?

163 I seriously do not understand why old people who already are fabulously rich want to put so much effort into gaining even more wealth they will never live long enough to enjoy.

Simple. Their hobby is generating their own personal wealth.

You don't have to share the same values or interests to at least accept the fact that they enjoy The Game and stopping it to do what?

I think Bezos and Musk are having the time of their lives building rocket ships and manipulating markets.

I can no longer tolerate black coffee. It upsets my stomach.

I also recently realized something about Coffee: Sugar does absolutely Nothing to eliminate coffee's bitterness; milk/cream does that.

Milk takes the curse off coffee's bitterness. The only thing sugar does is make bitter black coffee sweet.

We wanted to buy Fords, especially the dump truck, but there simply weren't any available in Michigan, Ohio or Indiana. The Chevy Silverado 5500 dump truck we bought was the last one this dealer had. Even the basic Silverado 1500 pickup we bought with it was one of only a few left on the lot. I hate buying in a time of short supply and high prices, but we really needed those trucks.

They said they get their info from Anovis and gave me their number. I called and a very helpful girl went over all my credit info and it agreed completely with my TransUnion info, which showed a flawless history. Well, I couldn't view the video, due to Twatter's nannying, but I repeat that to show intent, you'd expect some direct action by the driver of the dump to ensure the pickup was hit. A slow steady drift off the road is a hallmark of drivers falling asleep at the wheel. And, in some areas, the quality of drivers running gravel dumps is questionable. And some may work over-long hours. Sounds like negligence to me.

246 So here I am at the graduation. The graduation speaker is the Chief Social Justice and Accountability Officer for a local hospital. She just mentioned young people going great things for the Global warming and Climate Change movement including Greta Thunberg, and is now onto racism. There was no prayer it being a public school but they did have the National Anthem sung nicely cu the choir. However for their special selection they did "Love Shack". So odd. I left to get a drink of water.

Maybe. In which case, a bridge abutment would make a better "target". I am sure there will be an investigation. If the driver's cell phone is found to have been active during the collision, there is instant negligence, right there. Or if there are drugs/alcohol in his bloodstream. Kind of hard to "prove" falling asleep, but if the records show he had been on the job for long hours, or if his log book is falsified, that would be the working assumption, I guess.
Presumably there will be an investigation. I am willing to wait for that, before hanging the dump truck driver for murder. And, if it turns out that it was intentional, well, hang him high.

Removing the doors on my 94 Cherokee was not an option. I run $500 cars into the ground and dispose of them. That thing just won't die though. 16 years of hard life bounding in the hills, all manner of abuse and she still does everything I ask.

I read a good short scify novel recently about interstellar travel called Freeze Frame Revolution. They don't use any ftl magic to get around just lots and lots of time. Millions of years. The people on board hibernate for most of it. The novel deals with how people deal psychologically with the idea of crossing large spans of time. They are building giant travel gates around the galaxy but haven't heard anything back from earth. The only intelligence they encounter is a malalevant entity that keeps emerging from the earth side of the gates to kill them. They call it a demon for a lack of a better description. It's been many millions of years and they don't know what humanity has become. The ship AI is always forcing them back to their gate building task and preventing them from asking questions. The novel is mostly about their relationships with each other as some start to rebel.

No annual inspection here in Alberta. I could fix the rust if I had to; mostly it is the fender lips. But I will probably trash the body, and put a Studebaker cab and box on it.

By the by, it's amazing how large companies have all these diversity personnel, who seem to sit around all day and think of new ways to write policy, or offer "webinars" on the latest version of whatever training they think staff needs. Usually it's a different combination of the same words, just put into a bingo cage, spun around and drawn out.
