The Morning Report - 5/10/22

luftmaknwhoopi.jpg

Good morning, kids. Tuesday and as far as I can tell, the Left has lost on the abortion issue. There are a number of angles to this so let me try and tackle them one by one. First of all, there's the purely legal angle to this. While the leaked ruling is from February and there may be still some time for changes to be made to ruling or even justices to change their vote, by all appearances the likely 5-4 vote means Roe v. Wade will effectively be overturned. There may be a couple of tweaks/carveouts that satisfy Cheap Justice Roberts to Dobbs but it won't affect the outcome.

The reason I'm saying this is that both Justice Alito made it a point in his brilliant opinion, and Justice Thomas verbally opined, that the Court cannot and will not bow to outside pressure or threats in the discharging of its duty. And the words as well as actions from the occupied Oval Office on down to its bought and paid for goon squads in the streets speak volumes. The communiqué from the Junta is mealy mouth double-talk and gobbledygook. Well, what did you expect from liars, dementia patients and a lying demented stooge president?

Psaki was pressed on Friday about progressive activists’ plans to protest outside some of the Supreme Court justices’ homes. The press secretary called it an example of “peaceful protest” and said that “peaceful protest is not extreme" . . .

When the public at large were revolted by this, as they have been revolted by the mostly peaceful "summer of love" rioting that laid waste to scores of cities, and the persecution of the government against parents protesting the mind, body and soul rape of their children, only then did they start backpedaling. Peppermint Piss-Hockey tweeted:

.@POTUS strongly believes in the Constitutional right to protest. But that should never include violence, threats, or vandalism. Judges perform an incredibly important function in our society, and they must be able to do their jobs without concern for their personal safety.

. . . Republicans slammed the Biden [junta] Monday for its latest statement, with many suggesting it came too late and others saying the condemnation did not go far enough.

“The White House is playing word games,” Republican Arkansas Sen. Tom Cotton tweeted. “Biden needs to clearly condemn the mob for *showing up at private homes* at night (with kids present) to intimidate the Justices. This intimidation is unlawful and unamerican.”

Republican Missouri Rep. Vicky Hartzler said after Psaki’s tweet that “the White House is waking up Monday morning and trying to clean up their mess.”

“This wasn’t the sentiment last week. Not even close,” Fox News contributor Joe Concha also pointed out.

Unfortunately, the Junta's minions aren't getting this message or else they like the rest of us can see "nudge-nudge-wink-wink" at the end of the White House's "condemnation." Case in point is some skank pseudo-journalist named Caroline Reilly:

The tweet from the far-left Times said, “The headquarters of an anti-abortion group in Madison, Wis., was set on fire Sunday morning in an act of vandalism that included the attempted use of a Molotov cocktail and graffiti that read, “If abortions aren’t safe…”

Reilly retweeted the Times‘ tweet with her own call for more violence of this kind.

“[M]ore of this,” she tweeted. “[M]ay these people never know a moment of peace or safety until they rot in the ground.”

The tell here is that no one in the Democrat Party nor its propaganda arm, with the exception last week of Dem Senator Mark Warner, actually came out and unequivocally condemned the harassment of the Justices. And that was before Molotov cocktails were hurled at pro-life offices, pro-life individuals beaten and rent-a-mobs appeared in front of Samuel Alito's driveway. Even with all of that not one peep out of Warren, Pelosi, Schumer, Titty Caca or any of them.

Personally, given everything we have seen going on years now, it is we who will never know a moment's peace until these tyrants are plowed under, rhetorically speaking. Meh, let them rot where they are. "Buzzard's gotta eat same as worms," as Josey Wales would say. But I digress. I'm sick of these people and a bully is never going to stop until they get a fist in the mouth and they swallow their teeth like so many Chiclets.

Hold onto that thought for a second. Psaki-Psircling back up top to my assertion, having lost the issue in the courts, the attempt to weaponize it as a means to gain momentum and save their control of Congress come November is a big bust.

Reuters interviewed 21 women in the northern suburbs of Phoenix following Politico‘s report indicating the Court might rule to no longer uphold abortion rights. While suburban women played a crucial role in securing [so-called quote-unquote "president"] Joe Biden's victory in 2020, Reuters described the interviews as a "cautionary tale" for Democrats hoping to capitalize on women's abortion concerns to win the 2022 midterms. . .

. . . Laura Wilson, a 61-year-old mother interviewed by Reuters who said she is pro-choice and voted for Biden in 2020, said abortion rights are not on her radar in 2022.

"It's the economy and jobs," Wilson told Reuters. She also blamed Biden for high inflation, which hit a 40-year high rate of 8.5 percent in March, and "too many homeless people on the streets."

Another pro-choice voter told Reuters she doesn't "have a strong opinion" on abortion. She's worried instead about paying twice more for groceries now than she was a year ago.

Of course, this is anecdotal but given who was polled and where, and by a reliably Leftist propaganda mouthpiece, it's safe to say that Roe v. Wade doesn't cut the ice as it might have a few short years ago, when the economy was booming under a different president or the orange persuasion. Will any of this stop the Left from ignoring the First Rule of Holes on every single issue that got us here and dealing with the criticism? Of course not.

. . . Nonetheless, the intensity and irrationality of the tantrums and lies will likely move beyond words when the decision is formally announced, unless the earlier threats work and at least two justices submit to the intimidations of the mob. That outcome will be a sad day for our already weakened Democratic Republic, when one of its most critical protections against tyranny––the independence of the judiciary, upon which the integrity of democratic justice relies, and its crucial principle of equality before the law rests––is cancelled by intimidation and violence.

This resort to force, as we saw on graphic display during the BLM and Antifa violence in the summer of 2020, is a repudiation of the founding principles of democracy going back 2500 years. The foundational principle of Athenian democracy, or any constitutional order run by citizens, is the substitution of language for violence. . .

. . .The protests and violence have already begun. On Mother’s Day a Madison, WI pro-life office was fire-bombed, the exterior walls covered with Antifa symbols and the threat, “If abortions aren’t safe, then you aren’t either.” There’s no doubt that if the decision argued in the leaked draft is confirmed, such violence will metastasize––yet another assault on our Democratic Republic. What the Left is promoting is not democracy as it exists in the Constitution’s order of checks and balances, but what the ancients called ochlocracy, or mob-rule-–– the symptom of a political order decaying into tyranny.

Moreover, the other critical check on concentrated, centralized power, federalism, will be strengthened if Roe is overturned. The sovereign states were created to recognize the complex diversity of the colonies and peoples, and allow them as much as possible to adjudicate complex, conflicted issues beyond the ken and power of a distant federal government and its agencies. As such, states can be what Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis famously called “laboratories of democracy,” venues for new ideas and institutions, good and bad, and refuges for those citizens who can vote with their moving vans for something better.

Abortion is the epitome of such a conflict that is best settled at the state level. Or supporters of abortion can work to pass legislation in Congress, or to put a Constitutional Amendment before the people. Those two Constitutional recourses, of course, are highly unlikely to be successful, which is why the Supreme Court had to corrupt the Constitution to rig a solution whose architects the people could not hold accountable––unaccountability being another characteristic of tyranny.

All they have left is the use of force, be it via a completely corrupt bureaucracy, a weaponized justice, law enforcement and intelligence community that engages in political terrorism to crush all opposition to the junta or goon squads committing acts of terrorism and repression to keep ordinary people in line. But even that is likely to go out the window when the groceries run out and the gas gauge hits empty.

Diesel prices reached a nationwide average of $5.54 per gallon on Monday, setting a new all-time record, according to AAA travel agency’s gas tracker. In March, the cost of regular unleaded fuel remained less than half a cent from its record high of $4.33 per gallon, at $4.328 on Monday.

These high fuel costs are just the first devastating drop, the negative effects of which will ripple throughout the entire economy, with increased transportation prices adding stress to inflationary pressures already shooting up the cost of goods and services. In March, the year-over-year inflation was marked at 8.5 percent, the highest rate since 1981. Bloomberg Economics predicts that U.S. households will spend another $5,200 this year, or $433 a month, for the same basket of goods as last year.

While diesel prices might not immediately alarm many consumers who rely on regular unleaded gasoline for routine transportation, tankers, trains, trucks, farming machinery and other industrial equipment rely on diesel.

“Diesel is the fuel that powers the economy,” Patrick De Haan, the chief petroleum analyst at GasBuddy, told CNBC. These increased costs are “certainly going to translate into more expensive goods.”

Despite the price increases, the Biden [junta] has continued to antagonize the oil and gas industry with a cascade of new taxes and regulations that hamper production.

If the thugs camped out in front of Justice Alito's driveway think they're untouchable, wait until 200 million of us can't feed our kids any more. You ain't seen nothing yet.

Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger announced the change in voter registration management in January.

The new system is built atop the data servicing and customer relationship management software platform SALESFORCE.

The Cobb Board of Elections has suggested an election challenge (after the election) as a possible remedy.

15 The music is clearly slowing down on Wall Street as rate hikes take hold. Consumers are likely running on credit fumes as well that will be ignited as rates creep up, while costs will be "sticky" at the high end for some time. Throw in the increasing knowledge of the election fraud and it's dangerous times folks.

31 I actually don't think all this hubbub is about Roe. It's about there being enough Justices with balls to start returning things to what the Constitution actually says, and that terrifies the Left.

If Roe (which is a pathetically bad decision and should have been gone long ago) is on the chopping block, what other decisions are at risk? Might we be able to overthrow the Delegation Doctrine? ObamaCare? What else?

If the Supreme Court actually starts returning us to the Constitution, everything that Progressives have "won" over the last 60 years will be thrown out the window, probably never to return.

THAT is why they're going to get ever more violent. That is why you won't get full condemnation from the puppet in the Oval Office. That is why the Media will cover for the violence as "peaceful protest" and "important for Democracy."

32 Ergo, conservatives must support the legalization of any act by a consenting adult, however permissive and destructive to oneself and society. This faux argument confuses conservativism with libertarianism; and conflates liberty with licentiousness. (And, in a pathetic irony of progressive propaganda, Libertarians aren’t swayed either, given their long tradition of not ascribing to the conservative case for much of anything.)

41 Also disgusting - since "rape and incest" have stopped working (that baby didn't rape you), now every poor woman who has had a medically indicated (but not emergency) abortion is being trotted out and told that they won't be able to get abortions either.

Now, it is possible that the language of some of the abortion bans is over-strict (the trigger law in Texas, for instance, forbids abortion entirely unless the mother's life is in immediate danger), but literally everyone agrees that actual medically indicated abortions are justifiable. It's just not "medically indicated" to have an abortion just because Jr. is going to have Down's Syndrome or be born with brain damage.

They're also trotting out old reliable - "Pro-Life stops once you're born" as though there aren't tons of charitable resources (not just Governmental ones) that will help single mothers. Also the "what about children who are unwanted or going to be born to criminals and drug addicts" as though killing them is somehow made morally right because their parents suck.

Here's a question...would it have ever moved the needle? One thing that's been shoved in our faces for the past five years is that the media lies. All of the media lies all of the time. The government lies. All of the government lies all of the time. The people who control the narrative prefer these lies.

Ran into an Afghan refugee in the elevator today. He was delivering groceries. Didn't know which buttons to push so I helped. Must have been new. As he got off the elevator, he thanked me and said "I am Afghan." I said good luck and welcome to America. He smiled. He's on his way.

GROOMER ALERT: Now They're Trying to Get to Your Kids Through Their Breakfast Cereal

--

One word: Boycott

Parents have a choice. The power lies in their hands fully. You either refuse to buy Kellogg's and put that LGBTlmnop garbage in front of your kids, or not. Let that company tank, hard. I would never buy that stuff and let my kid be exposed to its insidious brainwashing groomerism. People have to make a choice here. Seems pretty easy to me.

The fight is on the front porch. It's at the doorstep of each and every household. No longer in the wings. Parents better step up and step up now. I can't help but reflect upon my own childhood, eating lots of kid cereals and loving reading the boxes while I ate. I can't help but think of the sewage that today's kids are subjected to. What a difference. I feel for them, I really do. And it's time to act.

68 I have become convinced it is impossible to be a Leftist and also be a good Christian.

1) The Left cares only about "the world": Temporal (and temporary) circumstances. Those are things Christians are supposed to care about only in terms of Eternity.

II) The Left presupposes it is morally superior to you without ever bothering to learn what you really believe. They epitomize "judge not, lest ye be judged" while unironically calling out Christians for being "judgemental."

C) To the Left, the idea that someone who is "oppressed" or "disadvantaged" should, or even can, take responsibility for their own choices and actions is "[whatever]-ist" and so there is no need for them to repent - only for you, who believe in right and wrong. Which, I'm pretty sure is 100% against the words Jesus actually said.

QED - It is impossible to be a Leftist and a Christian.

Active collusion, however secretly, is the only conclusion I can draw. Nobody is that stupid. Nobody is that helpless. This is an active pattern within the Republican Party and its leadership in particular. Just looking at their behavior during the Trump presidency seals it. When you are given every opportunity to act in the fashion that actually adheres to your supposed ideology, and you refuse to do so, the problem isn't because you're stupid and/or askeered. You don't want to. Because you're not who you say you are.

Not sure if this is serious or not (I don't recognize everyone anymore), but in case it is...

So why do Democrats keep opposing laws that would hold fathers accountable, too? Or, like the guy in Oklahoma (I think) who submitted a bill to that affect as a "gotcha" against Pro-Life Republicans and was stunned when basically every Republican in the chamber signed on as co-sponsor?

Of course we know it takes two people to make a baby, and that many (if not most) elective abortions are at least encouraged by the man involved. But you can't fix that without also fixing the abortion issue itself. And there's good reason to fix abortion first, since anything you do to hold the fathers responsible will make it more likely that they'll encourage an abortion (so as not to be held responsible).

121 In March, the year-over-year inflation was marked at 8.5 percent, the highest rate since 1981. Bloomberg Economics predicts that U.S. households will spend another $5,200 this year, or $433 a month, for the same basket of goods as last year.
++++
And that's based on official inflation. It is probably somewhat worse than that. Either way, it isn't manageable. People won't be buying the same baskets of goods as last year. There is going to be - it has already started - a pivot to a different basket of goods. More inferior goods and fewer goods in aggregate.

This is how the impossible condition of "inflation coupled with economic decline and recession" happens. The fact that they thought it was impossible when it first happened in a big way back in the 70s is indicative of how lousy our rulers are.

If part of the plan was to get money for what is shaping up to be a rough campaign season, that part appears to have failed.

137 And that's based on official inflation. It is probably somewhat worse than that.

Rule of thumb: tack on 10 percentage points (so 18.5%). Back when Clinton got in office, the calculation for inflation was changed and the government (BLS?) "corrects" for "increased value," which just means they pretend that everything is now *worth* more than it was last year, so that offsets part of inflation.

Which is BS made up to make Clinton look good, but other Presidents liked it, so it's stuck around.

I did the math a month or two back, the last time real growth outstripped real inflation? 2018 - 2019. The last time before that was during the Regan administration.

*

It's worth noting that Trump's policies - with both parties fighting him - helped households earn a median $4500 increase, and the first substantial increase for the first time in 40 years or so. The Democrats purposely removed it. Punitively and in anger at us for voting for him.

It's also worth going to glance at the Dow Jones chart for the last five years. We are just about back to where we were when Biden took office. All of the momentum from Trump is gone. All of the momentum from businesses being allowed to open back up and operate again is gone. All of the hiring of the same people who were working before is gone.

That just pegs the "Evil" gauge.

Those of us who deal with friends or family who have committed suicide (the real victims of suicide - the one who is dead doesn't have any of these problems) have a lot of negative feelings - guilt, anger, resentment, guilt over being angry and resentful.

Now imagine saddling a family with all of that just because you can't admit that you bought into a lie and made decisions based on it. That your need to be infallible is so great that you would lie to a grieving family and make their grief so much worse by claiming their child died by suicide.

I... I just can't imagine.

154 As has been said: It's not Roe that the left is freaking out about. That's just the dead babies they're using as a shield and to agitate their idiots.

It's the sword they're losing that has them going insane. A legal basis for cutting up the Constitution to create whatever "right" the left wants.

So, so many judicially-created rights/laws hang by the thread of Roe. That something is "Constitutional" because it's possibly maybe suggested as being related to a specific, enumerated right.

A short list of "rights" that won't withstand strict examination under Dodd: birthright citizenship, judicial immunity, official immunity, must-serve hospitals, must-serve schooling, entitlements (welfare AND social security), minimum wage laws, anti-discrimination laws.

I think shortages are inevitable. Even without the inflation or the serious financial problems at a lot of big firms, the system is structured in a way that makes shortages likely. So much stuff is single-sourced now that it exposes that risk, even without the other problems.

If you source a part from four or five different manufacturers, you'll end up paying a bit more per unit but if one of those manufacturers fails, you'll still be okay. If you source the part from a single manufacturer to achieve the best price, you will get the best price and you also be screwed if that one manufacturer has a problem. The quest for efficiency and cost savings as resulted in a ton of single-sources throughout the economy. It's a shortage machine when things start to go wrong.

They have mostly given up. For two reasons: one, the democrats are criminalizing any opposition to themselves, and the second is even more disturbing. There is a point in any created system, whether it be based on written procedure or software, where the system is too large and too complex to properly administer. A change in one subroutine has unintended negative effects elsewhere. Our system of governance has passed that point. Many things are unfixable without gutting large portions of it. I am fine with gutting large portions.

And as to him saying Trump wanted to send some missles into cartel HQ's, and how he recoiled at doing something like that to our sovereign southern neighbor? The church needs to cut him loose. It's the right thing to do.

Second, he did push for more therapeutics constantly and was ridiculed and fought at every step. Remember horse paste? He was all over therapeutics and the kind of treatment he got but the deep state fought him non-stop.

It's beyond clear that the establishment used the virus and the response to help take him down no matter the cost. 273 266 251 re Pringles --

Pringles is an American brand of stackable potato-based crisps. Originally sold by Procter & Gamble (P&G) in 1968 and marketed as "Pringle's Newfangled Potato Chips", the brand was sold in 2012 to the current owner, Kellogg's.

Thanks. P&G has a reputation for sticking with their brands come hell or high water. I am surprised they dumped their baby to Kelloggs. I remember liking Pringles as a kid but not liking the price.

274 I wonder why Johnny Depp didn't sue the ACLU over that Amber Heard piece that they wrote for her?

The ACLU clearly has much deeper pockets than Amber Heard, who is only worth a few million. And if the WaPo piece is found to be defamatory (which it appears to be, given the convincing evidence that it was Heard herself who was the main abuser in that marriage), the ACLU would be liable, since they are the ones who actually wrote it and got it published.

Were Depp's lawyers intimidated by the prospect of suing the ACLU? Did they think it would be bad PR for Depp if he sued them too? It would be interesting to know the strategy here.

284 There is a point in any created system, whether it be based on written procedure or software, where the system is too large and too complex to properly administer. A change in one subroutine has unintended negative effects elsewhere. Our system of governance has passed that point. Many things are unfixable without gutting large portions of it. I am fine with gutting large portions.
Posted by: Thomas Paine at May 10, 2022 08:36 AM (5kI0z

I think you make an excellent point, and we are seeing it in play in almost every institution in our society. Things have gotten too large and too complex, and actual "control" of any part of it has ceased. But still these systems run on, even though parts of them are easily hijacked and taken over by wicked people with destructive goals, like the groomers. But these people are focused on their own gratification, not on saving the system, so it will still continue to fall apart.

I think this is not right. They want America Diminished and America Poorer, but not America Destroyed or America Impoverished. The whole scheme as laid out by the WEF requires a smaller and poorer but still strong and rich America. Rather than the current condition of "strongest and richest" they want to usher in a new world of 6x roughly co-equal powers with their own spheres of influence in a somewhat chaotic pseudo-equilibrium.

Beyond that, taking the WEF types out of it completely, that degree of instability would be bad for ruling authorities. If the Dollar fails or the US government fails, everyone who is rich and powerful today likely goes down with them. Global trade shrinks. Wars break out. The world gets dangerous and poor, very quickly. They don't want that. They're also incompetent and reckless.

The COVID response - all of it - was entirely reckless. Trump has some blame for that. We'd be suffering some degree of high inflation even if he were still president. But the continuation of all that for an extra year - along with the regulatory regime stifling productivity and the outright war on energy, and the military failures, and the foreign policy disasters, and so on and so on - by this administration has compounded and enhanced the effects pretty dramatically. They've doubled down on every bad action of the past 20 years and halted every good action from that same time period.

It sounds very much like someone's taking orders from Beijing. North Korean society ain't exactly liberal, but they do harbor dreams of one day reintegrating with the South (and vice versa - though always on their own terms in either case). These may be "western trends" but they are also Southern trends in many cases.

But the policy looks awfully familiar, and it's a lightweight version of what Xi is doing in the PRC.

343 I am tired of hearing how Trump gave us Fauci and Birx. Fauci was and still is head of the NIH.

Fauci's been in NIH since 1968, and head of it since 1984. Anyone here started at their current employer when the Beatles were still recording? Good grief.

I used to put my phone in a metallic bag or just leave it home before "breaking the not-law" and driving somewhere

I had to sneak into the office to work onsite

I had a DE state cop try to arrest me for buying booze there when PA wasn't opening their state stores!

I think that saying is truer than we even realize. We are in a fight against global communism/socialism and we have been for a long time but we are only now really fighting back in earnest.

Whomever is leading the fight from our side is going to make mistakes and there will be setbacks because we have already surrendered ground over many decades. But we can win if we keep fighting and not letting tactical defeats drag us down.

The left will always lie and cheat. It's who they are. Fuck 'em, keep punching back cause they are losing.

How could that be illegal in DE? Driving it back into PA would be the issue I think. We went to 'jersey and stood in line with all the PA people.

Agreed. The markets have tried to price it in. But that money has not even hit the economy in large part. Plus the Infrastructure money is soon to follow.

There's a ton of money that will be out there little available to spend it on.

this was when we were meant to stay in PA. PA and DE had some kind of agreement to prevent us from "escaping" which I regularly did, but where I live in PA is super close to DE and in fact the border here kind of squiggles.

I had ordered from Total Wine ahead of time and was just waiting for them to deliver to my car. The cop started questioning me about why I was in the state etc and the TW employees came out and told him to get the hell away from their valued customer, and he actually did it! then I had to drive all over the place and make some more stops because he kept following me.

PA's lockdown was INSANE btw. people talk about Cali (which was bad) but ours was also really long and strict. I just ignored it tho b/c it pissed me the hell off. It was easier to go to WV and MD tho, they didn't have the same "agreement" that DE did with Wolf.

Oh yeah, I know. Cherry Hill NJ is about 40 minutes from my upper Chester County PA location. Stood outside with a line of PA residents about 20 deep. They only let about six in the store at the same time with masks on. I never heard that NJ had an issue with PA residents.

354 People are bashing Trump for the vaccine, but 2 things to keep in mind. 1. We know guts like Fauci were lying to him. 2. He always said the vaccine would be voluntary, never mandatory. Biden and the left forced it on People.
