Good morning, kids. The weekend is here and of course the leak of Justice Alito's majority opinion that indicates overturning the hideous anti-Constitutional Roe v Wade decision tops the news. The issue of abortion is not, for lack of a better word, important, or at least should not be the focus of things. Like everything else the Left gloms onto or otherwise uses as both a shield and cudgel, the goal was, is and always will be to seize absolute power and hold onto it "by any means necessary," as the saying goes.

The reaction from virtually every level of Democrat-Leftist political leadership has been absolutely appalling if not surprising. Worst of all is the reaction to this from the rotting cabbage at the top, via the kontrollers in the Kalorama Klown Komintern.

“You guys spent some time yesterday talking about what you think are … extreme wings of the Republican Party. Do you think the progressive activists that are now planning protests outside of justices’ houses are extreme?” Doocy asked.
“Peaceful protest? No. Peaceful protest is not extreme,” Psaki replied.
“Some of these justices have young kids. Their neighbors are not all public figures, so would the president think about waving off activists that want to go into residential neighborhoods in Virginia and Maryland?” Doocy pressed again.
Psaki pushed back, saying that the United States had a long documented history of allowing peaceful protest.
“We certainly encourage people to keep it peaceful and not resort to any level of violence. Let me tell you what I was referring to and what the president was referring to yesterday,” Psaki attempted to redirect the conversation.“
Not about yesterday, just about moving forward — these activists posted a map with the home addresses of the Supreme Court justices,” Doocy said. “Is that the kind of thing this president wants to help your side make their point?”
“Look, I think the president’s view is that there’s a lot of passion, a lot of fear, a lot of sadness from many, many people across this country about what they saw in that leaked document,” Psaki replied, saying again that the White House supported peaceful protest.
“He doesn’t care if they’re protesting outside the Supreme Court or outside someone’s private residence?” Doocy asked.
“I don’t have an official U.S. Government position on where people protest,” Psaki replied. “I want it — we want it of course to be peaceful … I think we shouldn’t lose the point here, the reason people are protesting is because women across the country are worried about their fundamental rights that have been law for 50 years. Their rights to make choices about their own bodies and their own health care are at risk. That’s why people are protesting — they’re unhappy, they’re scared.”

Yeah, they want it to be peaceful. But if Sam Alito, his wife and his kids should wind up burned to a crisp because of mostly peaceful Molotov cocktails hurled through their window, while the police and fire department are ordered to look the other way, well that'd be a real shame but completely understandable because the hurlers of said incendiary devices were "unhappy" and "scared."

The highlighted quote from Peppermint Piss-Hockey above is proof positive that not only does this Junta approve of the terror campaign, they more than likely are paying for it and orchestrating it. Just as they did in the wake of the criminal George Floyd and no doubt all the other innocent-as-the-day-is-long little lambs "murdered" by white cops /sarc. About the only spark of sanity is Democrat Senator Mark Warner who has come out unequivocally to condemn the terrorizing of the justices as well as the leak of the decision. Good on him for that.

There's a reason they're doing all this. A growing mass of people across the political spectrum are truly "unhappy" and "scared" to say the least over what this illegitimate junta has done to them and the country in the span of barely 15 months and are champing at the bit to kick their asses out power. Dao-Min Yen shenanigans at the polls notwithstanding.

But there's more to it than that. Even after more than a half century of indoctrination in the schools, societal dissolution via cultural rot, and balkanization via mass immigration without assimilation, the fact that we are on the cusp of tossing out a landmark (for all the wrong reasons) SCOTUS decision that is the sine qua non of Leftist dogma, utterly debunks their belief that they represent the majority of thought in this country. The more I think about it, the more I don't think the election of Reagan was a one-off and for sure Donald Trump. Both were complete rejections of the Socialist/Globalist project to fundamentally transform America into a totalitarian shit hole prostrate before the world. When you see who each one defeated and what they had wrought during their terms in office, that becomes crystal clear. Especially Obama.

Obama, as we all know, suffers from narcissist personality disorder and cannot handle either rejection or criticism. When he doesn't have a teleprompter or an audience of confederate clapping seals, he truly is a stuttering clusterfuck of a miserable failure. Joe "the plumber" Wurzelbacher proved it and we all know what happened to him.

I would say in another time and another place, when you look at Obama's words and deeds - regardless of who put them in his mouth - politically speaking, there is very little to distinguish him from a Saddam Hussein or an Idi Amin. Then again, in this time and in this place, that is exactly who he is. With American citizens continuing to languish in the Garland Archipelago because of an FBI entrapment scam, as well as an impending Ministry of Truth run by a Department of Internal, er, Homeland Security that ignores Leftist and Islamic acts of real terrorism while targeting spurious fictional "white supremacists" and "insurrectionists" and more to the point peaceful citizens who are speaking out against the Junta's legitimacy as well as its policies, Obama and his beard with the tiresome angry black woman schtick are damning the first amendment while at the same time urging the mind numbed robots of the left to "get in their faces."

Remember, Obama was the one (heh) who kept going on and on about the Constitution needing to be trashed because it was a compendium of what he called "negative rights." I doubt he came up with that but the crux of the biscuit is that he hates the Constitution because it protects the individual while constraining an all-powerful State. To him, that is a negative - mostly because he views himself as the State. And so, here we are. Everything crashing in on the Left and worse, crashing down on our heads as a result of what they have done. They've stolen elections, they have a virtually uncheckable bureaucracy and they thought they had SCOTUS in their back pocket. And now this.

I really think with everything happening, there is nothing they will not resort to that will prevent them from the final overthrow. Even the completely unthinkable.

It has been odd and alarming watching the powers-that-be relentlessly escalate the proxy war our government is waging against Russia. It’s not just that we’re sending billions of dollars of weapons into Ukraine, are calling Vladimir Putin a war criminal and issuing other fightin’ words, are training Ukrainian troops and are trying to effect Moscow’s economic destruction. It’s also that, senior American officials have now revealed, via intelligence aid the U.S. has helped to:
-- kill Moscow’s generals,
-- down a plane carrying Russian soldiers, and
-- sink one of Putin’s warships. The kicker:
By revealing this publicly — perhaps as strikingly inappropriate as leaking a Supreme Court draft opinion — Biden [junta] officials appear to be bragging about these “exploits” and rubbing the Russians’ noses in them. If you wanted to provoke a hot war, this is exactly how you’d do it.
But why would our officials seek conflict with the nation boasting the world’s largest stockpile of nukes (6,000) in the name of thwarting aggression that, as I explained here and here, globalist policy invited and is none of our affair? It all has a very Dr. Strangelove-esque quality about it.
But there may be method to this madness. And, no, a mere desire to enrich weapons-manufacturer political donors doesn’t explain it. There is one motivation that would, however:
A serious conflict would provide the Left an opportunity to seize complete domestic control, to cement its power — perhaps permanently.
This, not mention that Nancy Pelosi called the longest ever occupation of an American government building — leftists’ 2011 takeover of the Wisconsin Capitol — an “impressive show of democracy in action.” This statement was, of course, as true as claiming that the stolen (and it was) 2020 presidential contest was “the most secure election in U.S. history.”

It’s not pretty, and it adds up to this: A major war under Biden’s handlers’ watch would become a pretext for the greatest Big Brother seizure of control in U.S. history. The question is, however, would the radicals in charge be crazy enough, or desperate enough, to risk nuclear war for power’s sake? . . .
. . . Note two matters when assessing this. First, being completely un-American and unpalatable, the Democrats have nothing to run on in the midterms aside from the just ginned up Roe v. Wade abortion controversy. Second and as I often warn, these demagogues aren’t normal. They’re power mongers.
Just as people can lust after food, sex or money — motivations everyone can understand — so can they exhibit that rarer phenomenon: lust for power. And just as a man may endanger his marriage and career to indulge his prurient desires, megalomaniacs may assume great risk to satisfy their dark cravings. . .
. . . A major war (along with food shortages) could certainly fit the bill. And while this may appear a crazy theory, the people in charge may just be crazy enough for it to be true.

The idea failed when conservative legislators pointed out that the Soviet Union had a constitution which was full of such "Positive Rights", and it was used to grant that government dictatorial powers over all of society, since it was the only one that could enforce those rights.

If you have the "Right" to healthcare, then the Government has the power to conscript doctors and nurses at gunpoint and force them to provide it, on pain of death.

FDR tried to get this done as his "Second Bill of Rights," which were all essentially state monopolies of key human industries and a federal payments/wages and pension schemes. I don't know that it would be as big as what Wilson pulled off during the Great War, but it may well be or even surpass it. Unlike with Wilson, however, none of it would be undone by the next guy. It will be permanent if it happens.

And I don't know about the premise. They might be thinking that way, but such a scheme would require a plausible argument that we could *win* such an engagement. We can't. We probably couldn't defeat Canada or Mexico right now, let alone Russia. As the losses pile up and home-town oppression ramps up, people tend to get pissed and government officials mysteriously winding up on lamp posts tends to become a problem.

The government in a liberal country is positioned first and foremost as the guarantor - not the granter - of rights. Rights come from G-d (or from your nature of being human, if you are non-religious or anti-religious) and are *protected* by the state. With things requiring a contribution of some kind - be it services or money or property or whatever - being classified as "rights," the government guarantor *must* provision those things, which means the people who actually perform the service or have the money or whatever *must* furnish those things to the government - or else. "Positive rights" with the state as guarantor makes the state into a slave owner and the people into slaves.

100 Watching the local news is a real "two movies, same screen" deal. The local newscast is fairly tame. I haven't heard anything about COVID in weeks and they covered the Roe decision leak fairly straight - that there was a leak and it appears that the SCOTUS might overturn Roe. Some people are happy and some people are sad. They cover major developments like record inflation but try to play it pretty straight. Beyond that, it's local and regional stories along with traffic and weather and that's it. It's a bit liberal but not extremely so and is largely decently neutral.

Then at 07:00, the feed flips over to the national morning show. There it's all COVID killed a million people and the Roe overturn would mark the end of the world, and fascist states have already outlawed "telehealth" abortion (drugs by mail) because they hate women and now the hate is going national, and how inflation is bad but you can overcome it with I-bonds and the state will fix the problem, and Putin is Hitler and we should go to war, and so on and so on.

I wonder how people who watch the news and take it seriously handle that kind of train wreck of a segue between local and national where it happens.

I have serious doubts about China invading Europe. They don't have the capability for long distance warfare (other than lobbing nukes, I guess). They can gobble up the Eastern Frontier of Russia, but that's about as far as it'll go.

They can also continue screwing around with the world economy by buying up resources in Africa and other locations, so they can cause a lot of trouble.

The might get the eastern frontier of Russia anyway. Among big countries, Russia is the weak sister and needs to align with a strong player. For many years, that strong player has been us (through our proxies in Europe). Russia is not in love with the west, but she has aligned there. Russia's industries, banking systems, etc. are all western-aligned. Russia's factories use European and American equipment. The integration runs pretty deep. Russia was not especially cooperative or helpful, but was essentially aligned with us.

That keeps Russia out of China's sphere. That's over now. This debacle will force Russia into China's loving embrace. It will have no choice. When the dust settles from all of this, China will be strengthened quite a lot. And China *always* gets paid, one way or another. If they want Siberia, they'll get it.

Unless and until you acknowledge that man - the individual man - has immutable value and structure your system to protect it, you wind up with tyranny. You have to be admitted to practice before the SCOTUS, so they can pull that admission (which means you can no longer argue cases in the SCOTUS), but they can't pull your state bar admission. Of course, they can contact your state bar and recommend that you be disciplined there if you've done something unethical in their court. All the bar ethics rules require lawyers to behave ethically in every court.

FWIW: The day after Easter I started getting flu like symptoms. The next day I popped positive for COVID. I got over it pretty quickly, after the first day it was just an occasional cough and runny nose.

I had a routine checkup scheduled that week and had to reschedule it because I had COVID. The last time I saw the doc in January he kept prodding me to get a booster shot (I had the Pfizer jab in July and August but no booster). This time, although he knew I had just gotten over COVID, he didn't mention it at all; his nurse offhandedly mentioned that I would need to wait at least 90 days before getting a booster if I wanted one. So they seem to have stopped pushing the boosters as much as before.

I don't disagree Jack, as far as it not being (of and itself) a loser of a strategy. But Obama has always explicitly advocated direct action to whip up minority voter blocs, especially AA voters. Faced with economic devastation and foreign policy nightmares, Democrats have few options to enthuse their voters. Picking social justice scabs and going to the streets, and even attacking a few houses, might not be a great option but it is probably their only option.

And remember, it was Democrats who spent the last 5 years lying about Russia hacking the DNC and interfering in our election to help Trump. There's a whole lot of nothing between Beijing and Moscow. The logistics to support the operation would be a complete nightmare. Politically, they could probably move through Mongolia at will, but getting across that terrain would not be easy.

Yep. They are geographically well protected from invasion, but at the same time their neighbors to the west are also protected from them. They can maybe conquer the Korean peninsula (I think they have done so in the past) and southeast Asia. They'd have a difficulty time conquering Japan or the Philippines or Indonesia. Too much can go wrong there. We shudder at the thought of them conquering Taiwan, but there's a lot that can go wrong there.

Russia's quagmire in Ukraine has almost certainly given China second thoughts about attempting to grab Taiwan.

We had home movies of the ROC's first attempt at an amphibious landing in Taiwan. It was a stunning clusterfuck. The family was in Formosa to train the ROC Marine Corps for their eventual return to the mainland. You have no idea how hard it is to take fuedal peasants and turn them into 20th warriors. I mean Russia in toto. It was just a few short years ago we were the alpha dog of the world under Trump, not just financially but the world order ran through DC.

Xi was behaving, so was Putin and the Mullahs. Peace was breaking out in the Middle East and the world was generally a stable and safe place.

And look where we are now. None of that is true anymore. Russia might be enjoying some pockets of success but it is far from universal and their place in the world has been severely diminished not to mention their military badly exposed and damaged.

The world is about as unstable right now as at any time since WWII and we are facing a period of famine and massive inflation and unrest. I don't think anyone is facing a smooth few years.

Angie had great legs, but kind of a sad life.

Her only child, daughter Nikki (w/Burt Bacharach), killed herself in 2007. Nikki and Angie were extremely close, and Nikki (who had struggled with Asperger's and other disabilities related to her having been born very premature) was worried about her mom dying and leaving her alone in the world.

Ironically, Angie is 90 and still hanging in there.

Which is why Western Europe has significant influence over most of the country. Even though they have neutrality as part of their constitution and no foreign forces can be deployed on their territory there has been very good coordination through NACC NATO Summits, EAPC and other auspices. As of late, those discussions have stepped up. Especially with the movement in the Transdnestrian region.

I think 'Das Ganja' would be correct. The online Beolingus German-English dictionary in Chemnitz gives 'ganja' only on the English side, but the German side says "Cannabiskraut {n}; Marihuana {n}; Gras {n} [slang]", so if the other three words are all neuter, I imagine 'Das Ganja' would be too.

The big question is whether they would change the spelling to keep the J sound. I'm pretty sure 'Ganja' would be pronounced 'Ganya', so maybe 'Gandzha' or something? Anyone here actually know German?

Best thing about researching this: 'Das Cannabiskraut' literally means 'cannabis cabbage'.

574 As for Die Kunst der Fuge, I first started learning about classical music freshman year in college, and checked out The Art of Fugue (LPs, of course) from the public library. My little sister, also a freshman (she skipped a grade) and an Echols Scholar at UVa, saw it lying on the stereo console and said "The Art of Foogoo, what's that?" I never tired of reminding her of that in later years. (Don't get it? It's pronounced 'fyoog'.)
