The Morning Report - 4/27/22

joeyveget.jpg

Good morning, kids. Wednesday and the reaction to Elon Musk's takeover of Twitter continues to top the links, and I think for good reason. Getting beyond Musk's somewhat checkered résumé as a businessman (big fan of SpaceX, Tesla and all the other projects I'm not so sanguine about) which earned me criticism yesterday appropriately enough on Twitter, the reaction from the propaganda pimps, media gatekeepers and the Junta is telling. Free speech and the free exchange of ideas is one of the foundational principles of this nation and society. At least, such as it was, or was intended. The big newspapers, followed on by radio and television decided which stories were news and just as importantly which were not. Plus the way in which those stories were reported influenced the way Americans were supposed to think, feel and vote.

The emergence of talk radio, particularly Rush Limbaugh of blessed memory, might have cracked open the door, but the internet kicked it in, and took down the frame and the whole damned wall with it. One of the tired old bromides hurled at Limbaugh and others is that all they do is tell millions of people what to think. Forgetting that it's insulting, it's an incredibly fatal conceit on the part of the critics. Rush and his colleagues didn't tell people what to think; they merely reflected what millions of people were already thinking, and had been thinking for years, yet never had a voice to express those thoughts. That's why his audience grew by leaps and bounds for 33 consecutive years and why Leftwing imitators like Air America flopped. Well at least Randi Rhodes and Al Franken can breathe a sigh of relief since their fiasco has been supplanted by CNN+.

Right at the start of the last episode of CutJibNewsletter Speaks!, John Hayward, f/k/a "Doc Zero" marveled at the beginnings of the blogosphere, where writers and pundits had a space to gather, comment, debate and provide a forum for the free-flowing exchange of ideas: ideas of course that ran contra to what was being pimped on the big three networks, The NY Times and WaPo. He also lamented how social media as well as Big Brother big tech put a huge damper on all of that, especially in the wake of the 2004 election where the real journalists exposed key propagandist Dan Rather and his attempt to sabotage George Bush with the TANG fake news. Stay tuned for Russian Collusion and Pee-Pee-Gate.

Beyond the free-flowing exchange of "dangerous" ideas and opinion, the organizational platform by which like-minded yet heretofore isolated individuals could unite presented the obvious existential threat to the Democrat-Left. And the rest is history. But it's a history that is still being written with Musk's acquisition of Twitter. Let me state that Elon Musk by himself is not the savior of free speech nor is Twitter on its own the, or even a key crucial platform that by itself is the main conduit of information/communication. But, again, it's the reaction to it from the Left that is telling.

Looking at the 2020 election, there's no way in hell that Sponge Brain Square Depends Joey got 81 million legitimate votes. But for sure, he did get millions. The 9:00PM swing district mass ballot dumping notwithstanding, how many legitimate Biden voters might have stayed home (they wouldn't have voted for Trump for sure) had Twitter and all of social media along with the rest of the mainstream agitprop Democrat house organs not defamed, ridiculed or outright spiked the NY Post's bombshell story about the Hunter laptop -- the same story that 18 months later they suddenly have declared to be true, albeit buried somewhere in the middle of the papers in tiny type?

New incoming Twitter boss Elon Musk responded to one of the most controversial aspects of the 2020 presidential election on Tuesday after the company unanimously approved his offer to acquire the social media platform for $44 billion.

Musk weighed in on Twitter’s decision to censor an explosive story that was published by the New York Post about then-Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, and a laptop that purportedly belongs to Hunter that is filled with content that was problematic for his father’s campaign.

“Vijaya Gadde, the top censorship advocate at Twitter who famously gaslit the world on Joe Rogan’s podcast and censored the Hunter Biden laptop story, is very upset about the @elonmusk takeover,” political commentator Saagar Enjeti wrote on Twitter.

Musk responded a short time later, writing: “Suspending the Twitter account of a major news organization for publishing a truthful story was obviously incredibly inappropriate.”

Again, had the story not been embargoed, would enough legitimate Biden voters been dissuaded from voting? A recent poll showed that 16% of Biden voters would not have pulled the lever for him. Would it have been enough to have overcome the steal is an imponderable but in any case it's all water under the bridge. What is important now is that for whatever reason Elon Musk is now in the forefront of the free speech restoration movement in this country. As such, he has painted a giant target on his forehead, and I mean that in both the literal and figurative sense given who and what we are dealing with.

Beyond the avenues of speech is the very nature of speech itself. Who controls it, who shapes it, who gets to decide what is and what is not appropriate is the ultimate weapon.

This tyranny of minorities has long since come to define the Democrat coalition which knits together single-issue victimhood voters whose pet issue, whether it’s police shootings, green energy, racial justice, men pretending they’re women, or the right of teachers to sexually indoctrinate kindergartners against the wishes of their parents, must take precedence.

That is why the Biden [junta] will fight for an otherwise unpopular mask mandate.

Democrat political authority comes from the moral authority of defending oppressed minorities. The old Democrat party which asserted that it represented an oppressed majority being kept down by men of wealth has made way for a coalition of increasingly implausible minorities.

That’s the wide gap between the party of Jackson and of Obama. And it’s Obama’s party now.

Beyond the racial minorities of the civil rights movement, the moral minority consists of wealthy white elites, their sexual fetishes, cultural obsessions, and neurotic tics. Masking is just the latest neurotic tic that the decadent element that makes up its ruling base demands of all of us.

From police defunding to mandatory masking to men roleplaying as women, the outré demands are a minority even within the Democrat coalition. But the minority of minorities, by banding together, take something that only 2% of the country might want and turn it into something that the 31% of Americans who identify as Democrats are obligated to support on the party line.

And if the Democrats win, the will of the 2% is ruthlessly imposed on the 98%. . .

. . . Morality requires universally agreed on values which moral minorities attack at every turn. The great effort to transform the existence of moral minorities into its own moral authority through intersectionality requires unsustainable amounts of messaging and outright intimidation. Cancel culture terrorizes people into not speaking or even thinking for fear they’ll run afoul of constantly changing codes that no one except their cultural oppressors can even keep track of.

Totalitarian states deploy mass propaganda like this either at the height of enthusiasm for their revolutions or at their insecure decline when everyone is starting to lose faith in the revolution. And it’s been a generation since even the faithful believe in the cause rather than the anti-cause characterized by a rotating cast of conservative hate objects in the media and social media. . .

. . . How can you do class warfare when you’ve become a movement of billionaires whose supreme causes are electric cars that cost more than the average annual income, the sexual fetishes of wealthy men, and the fussiness of remote workers who don’t like being around other people?

It’s getting increasingly hard to disguise the fact that leftist revolutions aren’t about liberating the majority, but about enslaving it to the cultural obsessions of a tiny minority.

You can only dress up the tyranny of an upper class in oppressed drag for so long.

The moral minorities aren’t out to liberate anyone, including themselves, but to force everyone to use the words they want, to eat and dress like them, and to live like them.

There’s a leftist term for that, it isn’t revolution or liberation: it’s colonialism.

When 2% of the country gets to tell everyone else how to live, that’s true oppression.

It's easy to see why Leftists are in absolute freakout mode over Elon Musk and Twitter. If Musk and his new executives decide to allow Trump, Tucker Carlson, Libs of TikTok and everyone else who was muzzled by Vajajay Grabber or whatever the hell the weepy censor calls herself, that's disastrous for the Left. And, as Daniel Greenfield points out, if they are indeed 2% of the thought/political leadership of this country which represents maybe a third of the total population, you can see why they are rushing to flood the country with tens of millions more illiterate peasants from south of the border.

That said, has anyone asked them why they want to come to a country where their children would be turned into sex slaves or suffer genital disfigurement via hormones or surgery? Meh, too many of them are doing that already as we have seen. Cue Titty Caca Cortez crying in front of the chain link fence.

14 About $2.5 million in federal funds were spent supporting UP’s mission to become a “tissue hub” for human remains ranging from six to 42 weeks’ gestation (the typical pregnancy lasts approximately 40 weeks), according to Judicial Watch’s analysis of documents obtained from a separate 2021 FOIA lawsuit.

Which is fine if there was a natural fetal death. They don't say it, but I imagine UP would say "We didn't use any federal funds to procure aborted fetuses"

17 Old and Busted: "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me."

New Hotness: "Words that we don't like are LITERAL violence."

The Progressive left has always - dating back to the Alien and Sedition Acts - been anti-free speech. They have always supported "free speech, but with limits."

So any time they take a loss - however minor or temporary - they throw a tantrum. And any time they can point to someone saying something that would, perhaps, have been better had they self-censored, they have to make it out like it's the end of the world and that this is proof, PROOF!, that we need censorship and "content moderation."

It's not new to the internet. It wasn't even new to talk radio. It's been around since the Progressives realized the power of words.

19 I understand the reason why JJS focuses on "81 million votes". It's like a headline, and captures attention. But the real issue is (obviously) where those votes happened. The Big Steal might only have been powered by a couple hundred thousand fake votes, but very strategically distributed.

DevilCrats got tired of winning the "popular vote" and losing the Electoral College.

28 Twitters' sale to Musk won't be completed for about 4-5 weeks. There's plenty of time for the government to figure out some reason why it's not in the national interest to let the company go private. Or the shareholders be bullied into backing out... highly unlikely but who knows. Or something else regulatory related.

There are a lot of people with a vested interest in keeping Twitter a cesspool of left-think.

Those who seek power are, almost without exception, those who should never have any. And event he best men with the best intentions will make decisions that hurt others if they are forced to govern.

Mind your Ps & Qs, keep your hands to yourself, respect others' property, and let me live in peace. If it weren't for the fact the Kraken of Government first has to be slain, that would be about the extent of my political philosophy.

That fatal conceit is also projection, as is most of what the Left says about its enemies. The press complex *does* view its job as telling people what to think. What the press chooses to cover, the direction of that coverage, the opinions disguised as reporting, all of it is designed quite deliberately to tell people not what happened, but what to think about what happened (or, perhaps more precisely, what to think about what the press says is what happened).

Hell, Mika (I think) said it explicitly on MSNBC when bitching about Trump end-running the press and talking directly to the people on Twitter and Facebook. The press absolutely does see precisely this as their main mission.

62 JJS point is well stated: Many legitimate Biden votes would have been cast for Trump, had the laptop news been allowed to expose the Big Guy and his generalized corruption.

So many votes, in fact, that the Big Steal would have not been enough, and PDJT would have won. We might have a solid economy, peace in the world, and much reduced covid impacts. No one would be worried about WW3. Fauci might have long since been fired, the origins of covid would be more generally known, and he could be facing the Hague trial he so richly deserves.

But some of the other thoughts are that there are probably some there that agree with Elon on freedom of speech but haven't felt like they could act without the woke mob there firing them. So now they might feel like they have some more freedom to actually process and approve undoing suspensions and bans for wrong-think.

And as for follower increases, well they could be undoing shadowbans in advance of any audits that go looking through everything.

69 Again, had the story not been embargoed, would enough legitimate Biden voters been dissuaded from voting? A recent poll showed that 16% of Biden voters would not have pulled the lever for him. Would it have been enough to have overcome the steal is an imponderable but in any case it's all water under the bridge.
++++
It's possible, but such a poll is useless. They're asking a year after the fact when lots and lots of Biden voters have serious buyer's remorse. The "I'm a good Democrat and I vote for my candidate" set would need a compelling excuse to claim to change their answers or else they'll fall into a fugue state. "It isn't because I chose wrong because of my party alignment, it's because I was accidentally misled about this one person" is a good enough reason to paper over the problem. Most of that 16% would have pulled the lever anyway.

This is one of the many reasons the censorship regime is vital to the wider system, and why it will die very hard if it dies at all. If Musk actually is able to reform Twitter, Twitter at least will be destroyed and possibly Musk along with it. At least, that's where my wager is. I think he will see great initial success but then fail as the full pressure of the entire Complex is brought against Twitter. We can't have a non-censored major platform. If they turn off all the algorithms and code that were preventing conservatives from playing on a level field with Progressives, and they start un-banning people now before Musk takes over, what are the chances that Musk brings in a forensic team to review the code base? They can't just delete the source control history, but if Musk gets in and finds everything already set up the way he wants it (or close to), does he spend the time and money digging into the past, or does he just focus on the future?

Which is why it can work in small, voluntary groups (families, some small, voluntary communes), and why it will never work in groups larger than about 50 individuals (and usually less than that).

Once you get to over 50, the statistical probability that you'll have someone who is a pure drain on the society (either through slacking or because they're just not good at anything) approaches 1. And the moment you have even one person who is a pure drain on the community, the collective starts falling apart.

++++
Social media was the solution to the problem of uncontrolled, uncensored speech on the internet, not the source of it. A tremendous number of people - though apparently not DocZero - have gotten this entirely wrong over the past couple of weeks of the Musk story.

Before social media, there were no all-encompassing "platforms." People had blogs and websites you read them or not. When social media happened, it made everything easier (important, since not everyone wants to or can run a website) and bigger with lots of people present (important, since you need an audience). The cost of that was centralization. The network effects inevitably took over and suddenly if you're *not* on Facebook or Twitter, you don't have an audience. So everyone is on those platforms.

And that centralization made the censorship possible. It wouldn't have been workable in the Wild West of pre-social-media.

Couldn't disagree more. First, SecState's all over the country (but especially in contended states, like Pennsylvania) had to illegally allow "drop boxes" in violation of state constitutions. Took months to gestate that plan and implement it. Then the ballot dumping was a logistical planning exercise.

I saw a recent article that I will try to find, and send to JJS, and it illustrates the whole thing pretty well.

True The Vote matched cell phone geolocation data to surveillance video and made the vote dumps visible. One can literally see the "mules" dropping off (presumably illegal) votes. Many of them are wearing gloves so their fingerprints aren't on the ballots.

Possible, though I think unlikely. A popular revolution around a billionaire would be bizarre, but these are also crazy times. It is more likely, I think, that the subsequent destruction of Twitter (if it happens) will be a great big signal to everyone involved that cannot be denied. Will it lead to revolution? Who knows, but I doubt it. More likely, it leads to more people checking out, phoning it in, slacking off and skating by. And that reduces the robustness of the surviving system pretty dramatically.

He smokes dope with Joe Rogan. He's trying to make The Jetsons come true. He gets real high-speed internet to every corner of the earth (Starlink ain't cheap, but it's really good). Now he's trying to make Twitter into a real free speech platform.

If it's clear that he fails because the Establishment brings its full weight to bear on him, I think it might go poorly for that Establishment. Sure, people may not "line up to die for some billionaire," but I don't think that will be their motivation. Rather it will be: "If they can and will do that to HIM, what will they do to me?"

At that point, you may (hopefully) still have just enough people who remember what Liberty should be that things would get very sporty.

138 Before social media, there were no all-encompassing "platforms." People had blogs and websites you read them or not. When social media happened, it made everything easier (important, since not everyone wants to or can run a website) and bigger with lots of people present (important, since you need an audience). The cost of that was centralization

If you are too lazy to publish a blog, a cheap statement made in under two hundred characters isn't going to draw my attention.

Besides, there are platforms like FB and more robust systems like WordPress, Wix, Drupal and Medium for those who might put some effort in to it but not want to build their own website.

Twitter was its most valuable as a news aggregator until the cancer of click-bait headline writing ruined that.

Twitter has always been unusual in that it is the "microblogging" concept, but the point remains. Facebook is also a centralized platform. So is Wordpress the way most people use it (yes, you *can* roll your own from scratch, but most people don't - they use Wordpress-in-a-can on a major platform, maybe even Wordpress' own).

Carter won in '76, as a result of the Nixon debacle. Carter was a nobody governor before that campaign, but the Dems wanted someone with a southern accent to be the nominee. After they won across the board, the left decided it was time to let all of their freak flags fly, just like now.

Reagan, as we all know, was the result. And it amazes me that so many Republicans love to forget that the GOP-e always hated Reagan just like they hated Trump.

It costs more in perpetuity, until the costs of system failure suddenly descend. Redundancy is expensive. It's also robust and makes the overall metasystem tremendously stronger and a lot more survivable because the cross-section of consequences from fuck-ups or malice is a lot stronger. If a state makes a bone-headed decision, it might hurt the people in that state. If the feds make a bone-headed decision, it hurts everyone in the country. If the decisions are good, doing it in just one place - the federal government, for example - is cheaper and more efficient because it reduces redundancy, all other things being equal. If the decision is bad, it is also *efficiently* bad.

Embrace the power of "And."

1) Twitter is (and largely will continue to be) a cesspool where all discourse is lowest-common-denominator "hot takes." In general, it adds nothing of value to the public discourse.

HOWEVER

2) A LOT of people are on twitter and that's where they get their news and opinions. So having it *not* be one-sided (if you're a Leftist who needs all "public discourse" to be one-sided because your opinions are all trash), is a devastating blow.

Not all of it. Twitter has also been the best source for taking apart the Russia hoax and the China virus lies. That's why many people who were researching both were ruthlessly censored.

Of course it's awful when speech is limited to what the communists on the left want to say but a real free speech town square is exactly what we need. Many conservative accounts saw massive gains in their follows and retweets just yesterday and the way we beat their speech without going to guns is with more of our speech.

They know this and that is what they are afraid of.

206 It costs more in perpetuity, until the costs of system failure suddenly descend. Redundancy is expensive

This is funny because my son and I have been studying many of the economic arguments that were being had in the US from the time the Constitution was ratified up through the Civil War (we home school, it's part of his history credit this year), and many of the very same arguments (not 1:1, but very close) were made back then, too.

We still make them today. It is absolutely true that it is "more efficient" and "effective" to lean on Comparative Advantage and having fewer people do more things. However, it is also absolutely true that such "efficient" and "effective" systems are highly susceptible to disruption from any number of sources.

The hard part, that I don't think enough people even try to do, is figuring out where the balance is. When do we have enough economic diversity to enrich everyone, but enough redundancy and self-sufficiency to absorb economic shocks?

That will have consequences on Twitter, but the real fear is probably Facebook and to a lesser extent YouTube. How much of their shareholder value is fiction because too many users are bots? Will major shareholders start asking questions?

Bots are a known problem and it comes up sometimes, but is always tamped down. If Twitter demonstrates provably that huge numbers of "users" are bots, then suddenly Facebook and Alphabet may have serious problems. The shareholders might get uppity, but advertisers *will* get uppity. They're paying for impressions on human beings, not robots.

I'm not happy about the price of the hotels, but I think about trying to pay it next year (since I've seen the prices since I've booked skyrocket) and decided my spouse could have his gaming convention one more time til we live on "beach vacations" or "staycations" or "off, off season fun"...or til inflation gets under control or his salary matches it (well, the latter is never happening, so maybe the former)...

Maybe to some degree, but the numbers never really mattered much to Twitter admins anyway. Look at the "Trending" section on there. Some of the top Trending items have only a couple thousand posts. Others don't even have a numbers of posts listed. The Trending list has never been a list of the things that people are really interested in. It's a list of things the Admins want you to be interested in. You were never going to get some positive conservative news in the Top 30 list.

Stuff like that will change under Musk, I think.

This criticism of Tesla is wrong. No Tesla vehicles are eligible for sales tax credits. When the government buys electric vehicles, they do not buy Teslas. And the recent Biden pushes for government to "invest" in electric cars specifically does not mention Tesla because it is a non-union company.

People buy Teslas DESPITE government largesse, not because of it.

Think that's just people leaving? Lolol. They were gaming the entire content promotion/demotion part. That's not news to most people. But what is, is who was doing it. It was a deliberate effort between authoritarians at Twitter and government agencies.

Consider the secondary effects of that.

I don't disagree. And the advertisers have often tried to fight the bot problem - most notably Coca-Cola - but the combined power of big tech is pretty huge and if you want to advertise *at all* (and remember, Alphabet essentially has an advertising monopoly outside of Facebook, and Facebook has most of the rest), you shut up about it. Conclusive evidence that some huge portion of users and impressions are bots would be extremely damaging.

265 Look at the "Trending" section on there.

Posted by: Wally at April 27, 2022 08:36 AM (FJYfm)

I think once the "Trending" was legit. But then they did start to manipulate it because they didn't like what things were trending. And that's also why they altered it more to no longer be the hashtags but to offer an "explanation blurb" about it. To force the narrative.

Anti-trust addresses a different issue from attempting to have companies try and be robust. In a normal competitive environment, losing in 9 years by efficiency to win in the 1 year by robustness doesn't work, you don't survive the 9 years.

276 You have to ask yourself why is the Left so afraid of the free exchange of ideas and honest, truthful debate. That question answers itself.

The advantage of a platform like Twitter is it can quickly, and broadly disseminate an issue. It creates the narrative. That narrative gets carried well beyond the platform, mostly by the MSM, their most prolific users.

Now In an honest, truthful forum, it can also be quickly eliminated and debunked if it's fallacious. Remember that same reach and depth exposes it to many people with a multitude of skills, point of views and ideas. It's additive to debate if allowed to function without intervention. But the Left doesn't want that. They can't have that because honest truthful debate exposes their lies, delusions and outright fabrications. That's why they rigged the process to promote their narratives, eliminate debate, demote opposing points of view and completely eliminate any truth that represents a threat to their power. A lot of people on the Left and their partners in the Deep State put all their eggs in the Twitter basket for a reason. It's a very powerful tool for control. This is far from over.

277 To put that in place there'd need to be some sort of centralized decision-making. Most of the time this ends up captive to special interests.

The government is going to have *some* amount of influence on the economy no matter what you do. Taxes are (and always will be, in some form or other) a thing. So will trade agreements and such.

So the people in charge of those need to keep that balance in mind. Too much protectionism and the country is poorer than it needs to be. Too much "diversity" and "outsourcing" and we're too dependent upon outside forces.

The best thing we can do is make things as transparent as possible and let people make the best decision *for themselves.* With that said, the government *is* going to have an impact, so it needs to be mindful of it.

If the politburo is smart, they'll *never* cancel student debt. They'll just keep deferring it 3-24 months at a time. Cancellation is a one-time deal and when it's over, it's over. Serial deferral is a gift that keeps on giving - and keeps the desired population firmly on the plantation.

313 I believe Russia has made a huge mistake by cutting off nat gas to Poland and Bulgaria - a typically heavy handed Russian move guaranteed to backfire on them. First, no one is going to comply when some foreign ruler threatens to crack the whip harder; see why Sweden and Finland now want to join NATO. Second, now the entire eastern bloc of countries, most of which relied on Russian supplies, is being forced to realize that Trump was exactly right, and Russia should NEVER be trusted as a critical supply source. They're going to find alternatives, and they are NOT going back to depending on Russia even when this is over.

Russia has just cut their own throat, economically. Remember, this is nat gas, not oil - Russia currently does not have the technical ability to sell it anywhere else.

There is no "Temple Mount". It was taken down in 70AD by the Romans. Not just the temple, but even the earth it was built upon. The belief was the the heat from the temple's immolation melted the gold and it seeped into the foundation, ergo, digging up and destroying the mount itself.

The Dome of the Rock rests upon the former Fort Antonio that was adjacent to the temple site.

It is literally impossible to build anything on the Temple Mount. It is gone.

Today is Junior's first reconciliation after work. My mom's coming in, and she'll be taking Dolley and I to dinner afterwards.

Tomorrow, Dolley and I have to sign our will.

Friday everyone else comes in (about a dozen relatives).

Saturday, early morning, is the rehearsal for Junior's first communion, and there's a big dinner for my dad's side of the family.

Sunday is the first communion mass (at the busiest mass held at a downtown church with limited parking) and then everyone's coming to my house for BBQ afterwards.

Have I ever mentioned that I'm not really a social creature at all?

For literally years, all they would allow is one negative woke review. Even when I knew of several people who wrote good reviews, these peoples' reviews somehow never made it to the sales page or if they did, vanished before the day was up.
Until, finally Karen McStickUpMyAss was gone or something happened allowing some positive reviews from morons to show up on the sales page. So, thank you, morons/ettes for that.

Anyway, I still can't believe that me, nobody me, and my comic novel written to make people laugh and have an entertaining read and even think a bit, was targeted by the/a humorless Karen(s) at Amazon.

Posted by: Reuben Hick at April 27, 2022 08:53 AM (AHeqJ)

I've read a very plausible analysis that holds that, based on style and the oldest inscriptions still visible in the interior, the Dome was actually a Byzantine Christian structure built in the very early 600's, just before the Mohammedan explosion. Then came 100 years of war and very little actual record keeping by anyone, and at the end the new Caliphs jump up and say "Oh yeah we built that, and WE KEEL anyone who says different!"

Which makes the Democrat Party's military and financial involvement in Ukraine (despite Ukraine not being a NATO member) definitely a Chinese operation.

We know for a fact that most if not nearly all of the politicians are financially dependent on China, and China requires massive cheap energy in order to forever replace the West in general and the former United States in particular as the sole global hegemony.

The Chinese operatives in the fUS (aka "politicians") are simultaneously comprehensively destroying every vector of wealth generation and social maintenance while also guaranteeing rock-bottom price fuel sources by weaning Europe off of Putin's energy tit.

Nope. Slowly, and overall efficiency with the use of energy has become better every year. You need the market to drop back to where Trump had it and to stay on the current trajectory alone to sink the Russian economy. I am not a green person. A lot of it is horseshit that only profitable because they throw massive amounts of OUR tax money at it. It there has been some cool inventions and advances. Batteries are getting better and improving. All of that will continue to chip away at the fossil fuel market, which BTW isnt going anywhere. But it will get harder to run your entire economy on it. Now, it's not my job to defend India, and I wouldn't take it if offered. BUT I can't help but point out that story was misreported, like everything. India is *not* actually buying any Russian oil at the moment; they said that they wanted Russia to build a mid-asian pipeline so that they could start to buy Russian oil in 5 years.

Russia has surprisingly been sending very few oil tankers anywhere - they are probably scared of them getting confiscated. As far as I can tell, most of their actual sales have been coming from pipeline connections to Europe and China.

Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-TN) asked Garland if he knew of the probe into the president’s son. Garland refused to reveal any internal deliberations against Hunter but noted the investigation is being run by David Weiss, a Trump-appointed U.S. attorney in Wilmington, Delaware.

It's important because certain powerful people choose for it to be. CEOs who want an excuse to shit on their customers can point to a trending topic, saying if they don't do the woke thing, then there will be a firestorm on Twitter that will drag their name through the mud.

At this point, any serious minded person who uses it as an excuse is silly and should have no power over anything, but it's definitely an excuse they use.

465 When you print more money it means there are more dollars chasing the same amount of goods and services, which causes prices to rise. In just the past three fiscal years, federal spending has swollen to nearly $7 trillion a year, up from about $4.4 trillion in fiscal year 2019. Spending was $6.6 trillion in 2020, and $6.8 trillion in 2021.

If we want to put this into perspective, we can take a look at the monetary supply at the beginning of 2020, which showed just $4.0192 trillion in circulation. By January 2021, that number had jumped up to $6.7 trillion — but this was only the beginning.

By November of last year, that number climbed to $20.354 trillion dollars in circulation — meaning that since January 2020, the United States has printed nearly 80% of all US dollars in existence.

477 My barbershop is a chatty place. The barber herself is a real chatterbox and the customers all talk a lot, too. At my last haircut (about three weeks ago), the recurring theme was inflation and blame for it.

Spoiler alert: they aren't blaming Trump. One guy - who wasn't even me - pointed out that COVID spending was going to hurt no matter what, but what's happened since then is making everything so much worse.

Sanctions. Say, when do Joe and his foreign policy clowns expect the extensive and extreme sanctions to stop Russia from doing bad things in Ukraine?

In Joe's last press conference, at least 6 weeks ago, he said sanctions are not meant to deter actions; when asked when sanctions will have an effect on Putin, he said give it a month. Next time Joe or Jen is asked, I expect they will answer that our sanctions are having a devastating effect on the Russian economy. Period. They will not put another date milestone out in public. Structurally, this will all play out at a "level" above Twitter. The EU, yes. And in the U.K. And of course the Full Commie Tyrants of the US Democrat party will go straight to Google and Apple to create all kinds of pressure, such as was brought to bear when Parler raised the black flag for a hot minute.
