Twitter, Inc. today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by an entity wholly owned by Elon Musk, for $54.20 per share in cash in a transaction valued at approximately $44 billion. I think Netflix just falls apart from this point, a lot like CNN is going to do. Too much competition, no actual profit centers remaining, no reason to keep it propped up. Twitter is valuable because it has a near monopoly in its space.

I think its obvious that Big Money behind the scenes spoke, and not just Musk's. As Elon pointed out, the Board members only owned a tiny fraction of the stock. They acted like they ran things, but they were little more than the catering staff living it up while the attention of the Lords of the Manor was focused elsewhere.

Not all of the dotcom blow-ups were vaporware. A lot of them were, but a lot of them were very real companies with very real products who had market valuation and internal projections and guidance based on growth at current rates forever. A lot of those companies also engaged in very very poor financial practices since they were certain that the growth was coming and permanent.
Sun Microsystems (now part of Oracle) and Cisco Systems (still around, still big, still important, still valuable) are some prime examples of the latter. The internet boom would grow to the sky unchecked until there were more internet users than there were people, and so all those web servers (Sun) and switchgear (Cisco) would be needed at ever-accelerating rates - so it's cool if we engage in vendor financing at a large scale. The vaporware as the popular memory, but there was a lot of real shit caught up in the madness, too

(2) OTOH, Musk may just be able to do the dragging. I have no doubt he was an interested observer of how Trump was undermined by the deep state and how devastating the deep state was to Trump's efforts.
(3) I suspect Musk has factored all this into his effort. Maybe he thinks he can cut a check and sit back & watch his minions make Twitter transform itself. But I doubt it; I imagine he knows the stables will need to be mucked out to make this work.

One of many sneaky shit things Twitter does is verify very shady accounts. There are thousands of crypto scammer accounts with 400 followers that have a blue checkmark. Meanwhile, people posting under their real names with tens of thousands of followers are not verified.
I don't know what Musk plans to do about that, but I suspect that's one of the things his statement is about.

Not at all. In fact Russia's first reaction was to let everyone know they were going to move them in theater, when everyone knew they were already there. We pretty much know what nukes they have, range, etc and have some pretty good guesses on targeting. They put them near Scandinavia as a warning, not because that tactical deployment made sense for any other region.
