The Morning Report - 4/25/22

smoretocome.jpg

Good morning, kids. Monday and for a change let's start off the week with an item that's sure to warm the cockles of your heart, pun most definitely intended.

A Colorado man has died 24 hours after lighting himself on fire in front of the United States Supreme Court on Earth Day as part of what appears to be a religious protest against the use of fossil fuels and in order to bring attention to climate change.

On Friday evening, Washington, D.C., first responders airlifted Wynn Bruce, a 50-year-old climate activist, to a local hospital after he engulfed himself in flames. He later died Saturday evening despite medical efforts to save his life. . .

. . . Bruce is not the first climate activist to kill himself via self-immolation. In 2018, a prominent LGBT attorney named Bruce Buckell lit himself on fire in New York in the name of environmentalism.

“Pollution ravages our planet, oozing inhabitability via air, soil, water and weather,” Buckell said in his suicide note.

“My early death by fossil fuel reflects what we are doing to ourselves,” he added.

The ironies, and the staggering cluelessness of these individuals and far too many who think like they did boggle the mind. First of all, the fact that they had to douse themselves with some form of refined petrochemical, then ignite it using a match or lighter that is also made of some form of refined petrochemical is not "symbolic" of anything. It's kind of difficult to immolate yourself by rubbing two sticks together let alone with a solar panel, windmill or via unicorn farts. And protesting the ravaging of the air by turning yourself into smoke seems kind of a self-defeating act, no?

In any case, aside from water vapor that is released, the majority of chemicals released into the air are - wait for it - hydrocarbons. That is to say, carbon. The very stuff of life that these dupes and those that drove them to kill themselves seek to do away with. Yet before you let out a Nelson Muntz laugh at this pitiful case, there is an alarming element to this story. Instead of lighting themselves on fire, they could just as easily have spiked trees like eco-terrorism-linked Tracy Stone Manning who now heads up the Bureau of Land Management, or, given the proclivities of such wonderful humanitarian organizations as the Weathermen, the Black Liberation Army and more recently Antifa and BLM, a hell of a lot worse. Remember, this is not just Iron Eyes Cody shedding a tear to implore you to not dump trash on the highway. At the core of this are diehard Malthusians who view human life as a form of cancer that threatens the earth. We're damned lucky that the two individuals from the aforementioned link and others like them didn't light off an oil refinery, or a nuke plant or . . . a food processing plant?

A weird trend has emerged over the past few months that seems statistically unlikely. A number of factories, logistical centers, and food processing plants have caught fire or exploded, including two that had planes crash on them. More and more people have noticed and wondered about the trend on social media. Of course, this has caused the conspiracy theorists to come out in force, so one must make a sober assessment without jumping to conclusions. But man, this is weird. With all the negative pressures on our economy and supply chains, and even Joe Biden talking about global food shortages over the next several months, one has to wonder what’s going on here. . .

. . . The suspicious fires have not been limited to the United States. Russia shelled a large food warehouse area outside of Kyiv in March as part of its invasion; a large supermarket warehouse caught fire in Madeira, Spain; and food riots have broken out in Peru.

Is this just an anomaly, slightly outside the normal number of food processing plants and other industrial facilities that explode or catch fire over a period of months?

Just this morning, another one struck. This time, another General Mills plant in Iowa.

This is where it’s important to keep things in perspective. As one person responded on Twitter, there are over 34,000 food processing plants in the United States. . .

. . . Worries have long persisted over fertilizer and grain shortages, as both Ukraine and Russia produce a significant amount of both products on the global market. Disruptions due to the Russian invasion had already started impacting global food markets, as Instapundit’s Glenn Reynolds wrote in the New York Post recently. The World Bank issued a statement in March warning against hoarding. Now, the U.S. domestic markets are under increased stress.

With that as a background, back to the fires and explosions and plane crashes. The question remains—are these mere coincidences? One could be forgiven for not trusting official explanations in a post- [Chinese] COVID and post-election world in which panic porn and propaganda have replaced the news. Then again, one must guard against succumbing to fear over pressures on food supplies and jumping to conclusions.

It should be noted that two loons wanting to go out like Johnny Storm may be outliers, but what drove them to do what they did is part of the official line of the illegitimate junta in power: the abolition of the the petrochemical industry. And that is part and parcel of the globalist drive to rejigger society via a "global reset," a central pillar of which is the sheer transmogrification of the United States as founded into some sort of vassal socialist state controlled whole or in part by an international cabal of billionaires with to one extent or another the participation of the Red Chinese.

That is what's really at the heart of this; truly evil totalitarians who want to rule the world for ideological and/or monetary gain playing upon the amped up fears and good intentions of dupes like the two immolators to achieve their goals. As Lenin called them, "useful idiots." Remember, it's a very quick transition from setting oneself on fire to flying an airplane or two into an oil refinery. We saw how words can kill on 9/11/01. Same deal at the Waukesha Christmas parade or nearly so at a Brooklyn subway station one week ago.

  • "With all the negative pressures on our economy and supply chains, and even Joe Biden talking about global food shortages over the next several months, one has to wonder what’s going on here."
What's With All the Food Processing Plants Blowing Up Lately?
  • Angelo Codevilla: "John Quincy Adams is the font of American geopolitical thought. Today, lesser men fail to grasp his teaching that alignment of interests among nations can only be creatures of time and circumstance (This essay is adapted from America’s Rise and Fall Among Nations: Lessons in Statecraft from John Quincy Adams)."
The True Origins of "America First"
  • "President Trump showed it was possible to drain at least some of the swamp, despite the fierce response that doing so elicited among many of the fierce creatures dwelling there. Sadly, the current [junta] seems to determined to refill it until we drown. We can, and we must, resist these denizens of the deep."
Drinking, Drowning From the Regulatory Firehose
  • Michael Walsh: "Time and again, conservatives have fallen victim to the fallacy that the Left's vocabulary and our are identical. They are not: the words may be superficially the same, but they have (of course) radically different means. And until the Right realizes this, the restorative war cannot be won."

5 President Raimondo spoke out about Title 42 over the weekend. Or Disney. Or something...

We know he is against discipline for Disney, but see if you can figure out his specific meaning:

"There's nothing conservative about deciding you're going to throw Disney out of its present posture because Mickey Mouse? In fact, do you think we should be not be able to say, you know, 'gay'? I mean, what's going on here?"

Disney has not filed an 8-A covering the impact of possible termination of the Reedy Creek Development area. They are in violation of the law. A shareholders suit should be Florida's next action (assuming Florida public pensions own some Disney stock).

The preeminent example here in Maskachusetts was Marty Meehan, who ran in 1992 promising to push for term limits and promising that he himself would serve no more than 4 terms. It will not surprise you to know that once elected, he realized the voters of MA needed his wisdom and expertise and ran again in 2000, not resigning until 2007, when he left to line his pockets and eventually end up as president of the U of MA.

And - a personal irritant of mine - local talk show host Howie Carr, known for his bluster and criticism of "hacks, bow-tied bum kissers and moonbats," was a vocal critic of Meehan until the one day Meehan deigned to appear on his show and Carr the Fearless turned into Carr the Fellator.

That first question might be able to be answered. The second cannot be. There's no such thing as a terrorist in this country anymore, unless he happens to support notions like separation of powers, clean elections, secure borders, parental control of education, the sanctity of life or fair trade.

And we also have the infrastructure in place so that rich and poor can live wherever they can afford and buy fuel for whatever car they can afford within a few miles of them, and with that purchase drive 300+ miles on one tank of fuel that should realistically cost $40-$70 for a fill up.

And all of that is being purposely destroyed just for the intentional shock and disruption of low and middle class economic well being.

People don't have the slightest idea how prevalent this will be very soon. You can go fill up your car this morning. You can't go pick up another battery bank when you need one. Heck, I still can't get a small replacement battery under warranty for a Craftsman tool.

This will be widespread, and people will wonder what went wrong as they tell their children about how they used to be able to go anywhere they wanted whenever they wanted.

In Rhode Island and Washington, where vaping flavors apart from tobacco were completely banned, there was an average 4.6% higher-than-expected per capita cigarette sales. Based on these data, the conclusion was that an additional 3.4 million cigarette packs were needlessly sold across the three states during the three-month study period in 2019.

Many troubled people in despair commit suicide every day all around the world. Everyone has their own reason and a common theme is a disconnect from the world around them such where they are convinced that they are alone and without any purpose.

Writing a note about a very popular and virtue infused social feature then killing themselves for reasons other than "making a point" is very easy. Many suicidal people believe that they are noticed and loved more after death than yet while living.

It was a disappointment, but hardly a surprise. After the first round, it was clear that it was going to be up to the hard core socialists, who have 21% of the vote. Their support was going to throw the election either way.

So, clearly the Socialists (and in France, they're really communists, since everyone is a socialist) decided that even though they hate Macron, they hated LePen worse. So they put him back in power.

223 I think Biden is on a countdown to resignation. It will probably take a few more months; but the Left only supported him because he was supposed to be able to "Get Things Done". He can't, he's not just a total failure in our eyes, he's a total failure from every POV. As the polls and the country gets worse and worse, they're going to need a fall guy, and he's the obvious choice.

--

I'm of the opposite view. He's too arrogant to resign. That's not to say he won't become so medically impaired he'll have no say in the matter. But short of that, I don't see that nasty, corrupt a-hole going anywhere if he has any say. Secondly, I think he's been quite successful in getting a lot done. Sure, his polls are in the toilet. But he doesn't care one bit. He's throwing huge sums of money, causing massive inflation, implementing colossal illegal immigration, riding high and in lockstep with the hard left bureaucracy and deep state, who have successfully imprisoned people politically and targeted others who dare dissent. I think he's done pretty well at slamming America into a brick wall at 500mph.

For over 50 years Cleveland newspaper columnists (like Brent Larkin, who wrote the above) openly supported the most socialist of Democrats. Being a Republican, especially a MAGA Republican, means you "sold your soul" and there is no redemption. Brent Larkin believes every lie, supports every fascist takeover, wants and end to free speech, and thinks Republican voters should be jailed or executed.

This is why the Cleveland Press (my first employer, ass paperboy) no longer exists, and also why the Plain Dealer is forever in tough financial shape. Very few people agree with this crap, and yet they still keep Larkin employed. Inexplicable.

If the SCOTUS rules as I think they will this summer, we will be moving to where we have Abortion States and Pro-Life States, just as we once had Slave States and Free States. Clearly this is an unstable situation over the long term, and is a big step on the way to a national divorce.

For the time being, those who object to abortion are going to need to get the hell out of the Abortion States, or get used to living as subjects, not citizens.

358 Corporate sponsorship is the lifeblood of motorsports (all sports, really). As Corporations go, so go pro sports.

The biggest driver of this in NASCAR was Brian France. Prior to him, the goal was always attendance and viewership. Brian France led the current over-expansion.

I don't know if it'll be as soon as ten years, but I agree with the post upthread. NASCAR isn't smart enough to contract rationally and save itself.

359 Mr. Black was watching the NASCAR Talladega race yesterday. I caught the announcer talking about a particular car or sponsor (can't remember which one) being "carbon neutral." Glo-baloney warming has come to NASCAR. Isn't it great?

Restrictor plate "racing" isn't racing, its demolition derby. Smart teams will field their cars that have met the tax depreciation schedule and dispose of those relics in a fan appreciative way.

The Ram Hemi heads really dont like the 15 E. The twin plugs are built to ignite a concentrate of gas at one place in the head and then the second plug burns the lower concentrate of fuel. This is a physical timing of the location of the fuel in the heads. I guess you would write an ECU program to adjust the firing of the plugs.

458 Almost a decade - April 17, 2013 - after a massive explosion destroyed portions of a central Texas town, left 15 dead & hundreds injured, the investigation remains open regarding the West Fertilizer Company in West, Texas. AFT Special Agent Robert Elder said it was a criminal act during a 2016 press conference.

The June 21, 2019 blaze at a Philly refinery was likely caused by a faulty pipe. It closed shortly after and bankruptcy was filed in July. The refinery stopped all production in August. (Reportedly, +/- A thousand area workers became unemployed at that time but there was never a lot of drama concerning that fact.)

Refinery and chemical plant fires and explosions are not (and have not been) uncommon in the U.S., i.e., Fire broke out at largest oil refinery on the West coast Feb 2020, etc.

474 New York State about to get all up in everyone's bidness with various "fossil fuel" bans, e.g. no new gas hookups in a couple years, and banning gas cars in the 2030s. Of course its all a giant money-laundering boondoggle as their "Green Energy Partner" grifters get hundreds of millions of taxpayer largesse while everyone else gets boned and their basic freedom to transact and run their lives gets taken away.

And the New York GOP messaging? "Socialist Democrats Bad Vote GOP." Ridiculously out of touch. Nothing about illegals being flown to every town, overcrowding your schools and bankrupting your local hospitals. Nothing about how you won't even be able to build a house with a gas stove in a couple years, or buy a non-golfcart truck.

I actually spoke to a former head of the NY GOP recently at an informal event. While he seems like a nice and decent guy on a personal level, the total disconnect from a real-world agenda, let alone a MAGA point of view, is shocking. And the current Chairman is worse: another Buffalo "insider" -basically a Kathy Hochul from the GOP. And this in a year in which you have a weak, probably divided Democratic field.

1. How much immigration, combining legal and illegal do you think the United States should absorb annually? Is there any number limit you have in mind?
2. Do you actually want those immigrating illegally to leave the United States?

We know the answers to #2, and the Democrats don't care about #1: but I think it would be illuminating to the LIV/fence sitters if we/GOP actually pressed the left for their answers.

479 NPR gave a glowing review to a novel written by a transgender freak. The book is about other tranny freaks hunting down and killing women who don't share the approved tranny POV. J.K. Rowling is depicted as dying a horrible death by fire in her home.

Aside from the inappropriateness of NPR reviewing this piece of trash book in the first place, you have to wonder about the sanity of people who feel so threatened by the fact that others don't share their POV on some issue that they actually want to hunt down and viciously kill those people for the offense of having a different opinion than their own.

How weak and pathetic -- emotionally, intellectually, and mentally -- does one have to be to want to viciously MURDER people for not agreeing with their lifestyle choices?

HARP weather altering program, Chemical trail deposits (so whatever happened to "acid rain?"

Right after "LightBringer" was lapping up champagne and Wagu Beef with his feet propped on the Oval Office desk, I listened to Levin's interview with an oil industry engineer about the mysterious Florida platform explosion, who stated, "This NEVER happens..."

Afghanistan withdrawal and billions of armaments abandoned to the Islamists, who are also hand-picking the "refugees" getting on the planes heading for the USA...

I'm not certain I'd consider a transgender person as making a 'lifestyle choice' any more than I'd apply that label to an anorexic. In both cases it is an error in cognition. That same deficiency in the brain may cause the transgender person to lash out at those who refuse to abide by these new 'rules' they wish to have enforced. I haven't heard about any 'militant anorexics' though, probably too low energy for battle.
