THE MORNING RANT 4/25/2022

Biden Sending Oil From Strategic Petroleum Reserve To Western Europe

21st century Western Europe is like a spoiled rich kid who has never had to dirty his hands or work for anything. It expects America to pay for its defense and fight its wars. It also expects its fossil fuel needs to come from somewhere other than Western Europe, so it outsourced its petroleum needs to Russia.

Being reliant on Russia for fossil fuels is suddenly looking like a very bad decision.

So Europe is going to drill baby drill, right?

Nope. It’s once again looking across the Atlantic for some help from Uncle Sugar.

Even though Europe has cheered the Biden administration on in its war on American oil production (in the name of climate science, of course) it now desperately needs our petroleum products. But thanks to Biden, America is no longer producing a surplus of petroleum. We don’t have excess oil to export any longer.

So Biden is draining our Strategic Petroleum Reserve and sending it to Europe.

Oil From U.S. Strategic Reserve Heads for Europe Amid Global Supply Crunch [Bloomberg – 4/18/2022]

A cargo of crude from the U.S. Strategic Petroleum Reserve departed a Texas port bound for Europe, a signal of increasing oil-market disarray as refiners shun Russian supplies and prices surge.

The ship, chartered by an affiliate of French energy giant TotalEnergies SE, is bound for the key European port of Rotterdam.

Having done so much to destroy our domestic oil industry, Biden is now draining our strategic oil reserve and shipping it to foreign countries.

This is impeachable malfeasance. He is intentionally destroying our ability to fuel our national defense in a major crisis.

Until Western Europe ditches its idiotic climate religion and shows that it is willing to defend itself and power itself, the US does not owe Europe one American life or one American barrel of oil. If Western European industry shuts down and its people have to shiver in darkened houses, that is the bed they have made for themselves.

How Can I Invest In A Stock Fund That Mirrors Pelosi-Crenshaw Investments?

Congress isn’t very good at governing, but our Congress-folk sure do excel at trading stocks.

Rather than ride the overall market with index funds, I wish I could invest in a mutual fund that mirrors the investments of certain Congressional stock trading savants. Specifically, I’d like to get a piece of the action in a Pelosi-Crenshaw mirror fund. But even an all-Congress index fund would outperform an S&P index fund.

Congressional Trading in 2021 [Unusual Whales – 01/10/2022]

On average, House Democrats and Republicans had returns at +14.7%. Meanwhile, Senate Democrats were at +15.4% and Senate Republicans just under +13%.

To compare, we can take the same transaction periods and estimate $SPY returns. Using this method, SPY returns were found to be only +13.6%.

This means that in 2021, on average, Congress beat the market.

Some members of Congress are such investment wizards that they should be teaching the hedge fund hotshots in Connecticut how to outperform the market.

Unusualwhales - Congress beats S and P.JPG

And what a surprise! Two of the top-5 stock pickers were Dan Crenshaw and Nancy Pelosi.

Dan Crenshaw became a DC swamp-creature so fast that I almost admire his sheer audacity. He quickly made it clear that his constituency is federal employees in Washington, not the Texans who elected him, and that his purpose in going to DC was to get rich.

Crenshaw on Congress Trading Stocks: ‘You have no way to better yourself’

“If you want only millionaires and billionaires to run for Congress, then keep making sure we can’t raise our pay,” he added. “Just keep in mind that no one will run for Congress because you have no way to better yourself.”

For those of us who invest our savings in the stock market to gradually accumulate wealth, it is eye-opening that Crenshaw is so forthright about padding his disposable income by trading stocks for short-term profit.

I’ve known several individuals who attempted to make money by day-trading or playing with options. Some took a beating, others lost an amount that they excused as “play money,” but not one made significant money.

Crenshaw, Pelosi, et al are different. You wonder if some how they invest with knowledge that everyday investors don’t have. But I better not go there, that might imply that members of Congress aren’t completely ethical.

Jeff Carlson - Dan Crenshaw.JPG

If Dan Crenshaw ultimately decides he just can’t live on his Congressional salary, he can always take his talents to Connecticut.

I'd be fine with higher congressional pay. I don't like it, but I'd accept it. But open books and no hands-on investment direction. Your invested assets must be in index funds or ring-fenced under a manager who is *not* you and doesn't take your calls unless you're raising capital for a stated purpose and it's subject to review (buying a house, paying tuition, etc.) and even then he - not you - determines what to sell.

And end the "dual households" argument for open corruption. Build a nice, luxurious federal dormitory of nice two-bedroom apartments with a separate office. It would be expensive but not unmanageable and then just provide in-DC housing as a basic benefit of elected congressional service.

78 Regarding congressional investments, keep in mind that there are a lot more congresscritters than 35. in 2021 79% of active fund managers underperformed the S&P, meaning 21% outperformed. 6.6% of congresscritters outperformed vs 21% of active fund managers (and typically these metrics are net of fees).

It's easy to solve... build 535 oubliettes with money seized from Congress members' bank accounts, and then lock them all in them for life. Put $100 on each of their books, so they can invest in rat-traps for their food supplies.

Solved.

82 France voted to surrender to Islam yesterday. The rest of Western t Europe is on-board with this plan. We should pull out of NATO abandon them to their fate.

According to charts I've seen, the majority of support for Macron was voters 60 and older. This seems like a self-correcting problem, except that France might not exist by the time it fixes itself.

83 Yeah, I'm no special pleader for Congress. But their performance isn't that great. It's also concentrated in issues that are fairly public. A lot of people have those investments, and the more you can plow into it, the better you do. That said, you could make a blind trust mandatory to eliminate the appearance on impropriety. But they still go after you for that. See Loeffler.

The suggestion is made that he invested some money in Boeing I think prior to the stimulus bill passing, and that he then invested his money there. The airline and Boeing parts of the stimulus were publicly known and the passage of the stimulus was never in doubt. It was about as close to unanimous as you can get. Well, along with the TSLA, sra blaster and I invested in some Boeing, too. And we made some money on it. Boeing was already a bit smashed by the 737 Max thing. They picked up pretty well. Then when the first telegram was revealed, the Germans were stupid enough to send a second 'even now' telegram to Mexico.

BTW, for those arguing that it was a false flag, you have to get around the fact that Germany's foreign minister Zimmerman admitted sending both telegraphs at an open press conference on March 3, 1917 causing consternation among German supporters in the US.

Umm, Buck. Look around you, look into the price of many things here in the USA, look at the massive opportunity costs, outright grifting "investments", and other damage being caused by the idiotic climate religion right here in the good ol' former USA.

When Trump ditched the Paris Accord, he didn't even go near the substance of the matter, unfortunately (yeah yeah he in many ways was a one-man army fighting many yuge battles after decades of idiocy on several fronts, and there are limits to what one can do). It was a "bad deal for America". Point here, even Trump, in one of his best moments, was constrained by the extent of "climate" delusion in the US.

Until the C19 debacle revealed how utterly collapsed "public" science and its institutions are - and how lazy and submissive and ignorant most of the population is - climate religion was my main worry. And at this point I put it back up there as the chief threat to freedom and prosperity.

153 Biden signals a message for the midterms: Democrats bring results, Republicans bring MAGA.

*

MAGA was $4500 in real wealth added to households for the first time in 40 years.

"Results" took that $4500 away. It took it away to the tune of $400/month just to tread water to stay where MAGA had put us.

154 Madison Cawthorn spelled out how it occurs in his interview that is more noteworthy for his comments that he was invited by congressional members to orgies and watched them snorting coke.

He mentioned how many congress critters loaded up on a company that produced batteries for EVs and then pushed through a bill to add huge numbers of EVs to the post office and other federal branches.

There was brief blowup over the weekend where leftist activists magically got their hands on a photo of Cawthorn on a cruise ship wearing women's lingerie for some kind of wacky contest and insisting it disqualified him from Congress.

The same activists got really quiet about it when everyone replied with pictures of Admiral Levine.

172 Some have mentioned it already. There's a reason that the "appearance of a conflict of interest" is the standard for rules and laws and traditions aimed at preventing ..... conflicts of interest in public service.

It's simple and it's effective, and the best we can do.

Blind trusts or TSP-type broad mutual funds administered by a govt. entity (well, TSP, why not, it already exists). Period. Obvious. All the other talk is really a waste of time.

Wasn't it Crenshaw who really beclowned himself, or rather showed his grasp of "public service", with the comment about people "bettering themselves"? OK, sure, even long before modern times, those of means were over-represented in elective office. Too bad. Doesn't matter. What matters are results. And you can't fix a stupid electorate, which is where the responsibility lies, so stop trying.

214 I know we're actually already far beyond any recognizable boundaries into orwellian dystopia, but the Dems talking about "results", and comparing themselves favorably to Trump, does register as a new high in delusion.

Trump had the best results (i.e., things a president can actually affect, not earthquakes or the depraved stylings of corrupt foreign regimes in Africa, or the quality of pitching in the National League, etc) of any recent president - really of anyone since Eisenhower, excluding Reagan. On domestic matters.

It's not even close. But corner the "smartest" NPR-listening Biden voter you can find, and quiz them about it. They'll not be aware of almost anything, any of the reality taking place during Trump's term. That Trump wasn't re-elected with a Reaganesque national sweep reflects the degradation of the electorate and the utter collapse of the information system ("press") in the country.

223 "Insider trading" isn't really what Congress does most of the time anyway. They have knowledge about a law, a change in a law or some type of regulatory change that will affect companies that are involved in doing "X" in a positive way and companies that are involved in doing "Y" in a negative way. They then invest accordingly.

Where it gets sketchy and I've no doubt Congress does this is when the laws, codes, rules, etc. are artificially manipulated to line their pockets. Sometimes to the detriment of the public good. That should be a crime, but I doubt it is.

GHWB--another example, distinguished service as a Navy pilot, John McCain, even good ole Benedict Arnold and Aaron Burr fought with heroism in the unsuccessful Canadian expedition.

289 Meanwhile, in less contentious newz, these two oil depot fires in Bryansk - which based on my thorough 2-minute investigation do look to have been caused by ballistic missile strikes - are interesting.

A few weeks ago two Uke helicopters hit a refinery in Belgorod (also in Russia). This was soon after the russkis hit a refinery in Kharkov.

Two things. Thing one, I wonder if the Ukes (that is, us and our "allies" - pretty clear the Ukes operate with pretty full intel support of the US and NATO, and probably heaps of operational advice as well) think a fuel infrastructure war makes sense for them. (narrator: it doesn't - their infrastructure is limited, Russia's is vast an almost entirely out of their reach).

Thing two, 2 weeks ago Russia's MOD spokesman made a striking specific threat at the end of his daily briefing. He said continued Uke attempts to attack targets inside Russia would result in Russian attacks on targets in Kiev (all the hysteria and misinformation of the western "press" notwithstanding, Kiev has not been hit), implying both infrastructure and command targets.

Well, Gen. Konashenkov, here's your red line being crossed. Whatcha got?

O'Hare Truck Service v. City of Northlake. The 1996 Supreme Court ruling stated clearly that when a government enacts an otherwise permissible law in order to punish an individual entity for their exercise of free speech, the law becomes unconstitutional at that point.

I don't know if this is accurate or not but it does not feel like it applies to this case. Then again, I thought that the Supreme Court could not possibly rule that Obamacare was a tax, since that would make the Deem & Pass method invalid and it made no sense so....

We sat and did nothing while we allowed the Left to take over all the high ground - education at all levels, communications platforms, corporate boardrooms and HR departments - and that was the result.

Out hope now comes from the fact that everything the Left takes over, they fuck up irretrievable. And we've got a chance to rebuild now that we didn't deserve, as everything the Left took over collapses.

note that I do not say that we can reverse things simply; for example, in education, we will have to destroy the existing system at all levels and start over, building a new system from scratch. Same goes for information.

Murtha served in Vietnam voluntarily and won the Bronze Star and the purple heart and was Nanzi's henchman in the House--he even accused service members of war crimes for her. GHWB--another example, distinguished service as a Navy pilot, John McCain, even good ole Benedict Arnold and Aaron Burr fought with heroism in the unsuccessful Canadian expedition.

Heroism or service in wartime is not necessarily related with being an honorable person as much as we would like to think so.

The Republicans have a sure thing. They could be out there right now talking about how they're ending the electric car bullsh*t where your option is going to be a $60K subcompact or an $80K small SUV or a $100K truck that can't tow anything, and they could be talking about getting the tranny nonsense out of sports and schools, and getting back to basic education, and getting manufacturing back over here and ending illegal aliens entering the country.

And they aren't saying a f*cking thing. They're almost completely silent. They could wipe the Democrats off the map and return the country to some semblance of normalcy in accordance with the voters' will, and they don't want to.

In fact it could be argued that granting a corporation an autonomous governance is unconstitutional. It can also be argued even more compellingly that these privileges were not being removed to just Pedo World. They were the only ones who had it so if anything it is leveling the playing field. Busch Gardens and Universal Etc. Did not have that privilege.

365 ACE might post on this later, but 4chan has posted stuff supposedly from the Hunter laptop showing an elderly man that looks a lot like Biden (its low res) completely naked and touching a naked girl who looks very underage.

I mean... this is awfully convenient for people who don't like Biden and I cannot conceive of why the hell Hunter would take a pic of this, let alone keep it, and its not very easy to identify the people, so worth a large block of salt.

382 320 The Northlake case had a punitive aspect in that one particular company was removed from the towing list which adversely affected income. What was implicated was the liberty interest that Northlake's owner had in political free speech plus the stigma (punishment) of not being able to participate in the towing list income.

In Disney's case, the whole Reedy District creation was a creature of the state government. In addition, a publicly owned corporation's freedom of speech is not necessarily as protected as a liberty interest as that of an individual. In the case of Disney, the Reedy and grandfathering all other pre 1968 special districts from present requirements was a benefit not available to every other corporation. Arguing deprivation of an existing special benefit consists of a stigma is a harder reach than in Northlake.

What makes the analysis more difficult for Disney as Disney has to decide whether to approve a new special district application within a year under the same terms as those post 1968. That could raise a standing issue.

385 I've often wondered why the GOP has been so quiet too. I think they more or less agree with the direction the junta is going. Maybe not the speed at which they're pushing the country, but the direction for sure. And the discussions up thread about Congress and their inside trading probably factor into it as well. Trillions of dollars stand to be grifted up over the next couple of decades if the powers that be can shift the national economy over to solar, wind, EV's, beyond meat, etc.

It's not really a surprise, the Texas Dem Party has gotten to where the only nominees they put up are self funded millionaires (like Beto) or local people who think it's a lot of fun to see their name on the ballot and never get around to actually running a campaign or anything.

That's why this year's Texas election, except for a couple of runoffs in May, is already over.

393 Dan Crenshaw is absolutely right.

As long as you jealous, cheap fucks keep thinking you can hire top notch people that have a responsibility to spend TRILLIONS of dollars each year for the price of a mid-level manager, you'll get the bored millionaires and broke no-nothings that populate congress now. Reasonably successful small business owners and professionals (the type of people who we need in congress and the senate) make between $300,000 and $800,000 per year. Add in another $200,000 for the additional expense of a second home in D.C. and you come up with a million per year. Pay half as salary and the other half as a bonus for getting all the INDIVIDUAL spending bills done on time and in budget, with no more omnibus-throw-the-kitchen-sink-in-at-the-last-minute spending bills.

You get what you pay for in this life.

398 Except that it was a privilege extended to Pedo World. It was not an absolute right. Pedo Rodents lawyers effed up in that there was never an agreement in perpetuity. Posted by: Minnfidel
----------------
The Florida Constitution was changed since Reedy was established which affects what powers that a special improvement district can exercise. Haven't checked it thoroughly but believe from related reading that since 1968, the state created overall consistency in improvement district governance and powers among all the districts in the state.
