Trump: Piers Morgan Deceptively Edited the Tape to Make It Look Like I Stormed Out of the Interview When I Did Not.

The 30-second clip that Morgan's team released splashed across tabloids and media outlets, taking the lead spot across the Drudge Report with multiple links accusing Trump of having a "meltdown." In it, Morgan splices several clips together that make it seem like as on-screen graphics and a deep male voice over says that Trump is a "former president in denial" over the 2020 election. The promo, which calls it "the most explosive interview of the year," pulls a few short clips of Trump calling Morgan "a fool" and saying "this is very dishonest" and "let's finish up the interview," before showing Trump standing up and walking away and saying "turn the camera off." But that's not what happened--not even close. Trump spent more than an hour with Morgan, and the way the promo clip cuts together what it calls "Morgan Versus Trump" moments to promote the interview which will air on this coming Monday night is particularly deceptive. Most of those moments had nothing to do with the election issue at all, and the full audio of the last bit of the interview shows that Trump standing up and walking away and saying "turn the camera off" came after Morgan ended the interview and thanked Trump for a "great interview." The audio file obtained by Breitbart News, which is about seven and a half minutes long, begins with Trump spokesman Taylor Budowich interjecting into the middle of the interview to tell Morgan to wrap it up. "We're an hour in," Budowich says. "We need to wrap." Morgan responds by begging for more time with Trump. "Just a few quick questions and then--" Morgan says. "Thank you," Budowich responds. Morgan next asks Trump to define the meaning of a woman, to which Trump responds by bashing Lia Thomas--the biological male transgender athlete who has been competing in women's swimming events--then Morgan just keeps rolling asking more and more questions.Check Breitbart for the all of the questions asked here, but they are not about the election of 2020 -- but that's what Morgan deceitfully edited the video to make it appear was asked of Trump before he "stormed off."

So Trump had been trying to wrap the interview for more than eight minutes and none of the questions at the end were about the 2020 election but Piers Morgan just flat-out lied and claimed that questions about the election led to Trump storming out. Now, bear in mind, Piers Morgan now works for Fox News -- this is for his new show, "Piers Morgan Uncensored" on Fox's streaming service Fox Nation -- and so Fox is paying for this complete fabrication and has this open and brazen fabricator as a "news" star. Even NBC is exposing Fox's shameless dishonesty! That's how far Fox has fallen!
Morgan then starts asking another question, this time about his time together with Trump when they co-starred on The Apprentice, and another Trump aide can be heard in the background saying as Morgan begins it: "Last question." Morgan replies to that person by saying: "Yeah, yeah." After another minute of back and forth between Trump and Morgan, Morgan asks Trump's team for yet another "last question." Budowich replies by saying: "You've done last question four times now. I feel like you're lying at this point." Trump interjects and says "very deceptive." "You've said last question four times," Budowich says. "I haven't asked about--I wanted to end with your hole-in-one," Morgan says, then asks Trump to describe his recent hole-in-one when playing alongside golf legend Ernie Els. Trump agrees and says "go ahead." Then Morgan asks his question, and Trump answers for more than a minute. After that's over, Morgan agrees the interview is over and thanks Trump for a "great interview."
NBC News, which also published a story about the Trump team's audio file, got a spokesperson for News Corporation to provide this comment in response to the deceptive editing revelations: "We have nothing to comment beyond the public information (i.e. the video clip and Piers' column in the NY Post)." "A producer for Morgan did not immediately return an email for comment," NBC's report adds.So what are we going to do about this? How long are we going to put up with Fox attempting to Con the Rubes back into being compliant little neoliberal sheep who follow the orders of their corporate Chamber of Commerce masters again, and stop with their distasteful social conservative and border security demands and get back to the important business of "conservatism" like cutting the corporate tax rates and the personal income tax rates for billionaires? I have taken and defended hundreds of legal depositions. Probably 50% were video recorded, and some from back in the day when that cost thousands of bucks a day. Never once was any of the video actually used at trial or for anything. It never really was intended to be. The real purpose was to keep the deponent -- and the lawyers -- "honest" and on their best behavior. It worked.
I have no doubt that asshole scumbag interviewers like Morgan would be less asshole-y and scumbag-y if they knew full video was being taken by the interviewee.

Piers is up to his usual bullshit. I don't have a problem with the questioning. This is going to be standard questioning from the left. Trump has made the fraudulence of the 2020 election a centerpiece of his campaign for 2024 (re) election. I wouldn't have done that, but he did. He has to defend that.
And he has to expect to defend that from an extremely hostile propagandistic media.
But the framing around these clips, the dramatic voice-over of "A FORMER PRESIDENT IN DENIAL" is, well, pure Piers Morgan -- dishonest, carnival-barker-y, hyped-up tabloid lies.
Based on the hype, I was expecting Trump to look really bad. And then he looks... not bad at all. The "bad" thing he does is walk out, but that's not really bad. He gets up calmly and says "turn the cameras off" calmly, which is his right.

It's hilarious. I haven't trusted Fox since they were giddy with obvious glee (and a ton of obscenely early calls) during the 2018 election coverage. They exposed themselves then, but kept up the pretense for a while longer.
And yet, what has it bought Fox? Nothing. The right increasingly holds them in contempt because they're the same as all the rest and the left still hates them for being "conservative." Fox abandoned its actual market to play in the already saturated space of state-affiliated leftist propaganda outlets. I don;t think anyone is falling for it. Fox still has higher viewership than the others, but I know many people who now respond like, "Fox News? Fuck 'em."

One streaming service I use does this. They have a free ad-supported version with minimal library, a mid-tier paid option with a bigger library and still with ads, or a top-tier paid option with the full library and no ads. Netflix could try something like that. Dunno if it would work (probably not - their business model and books are a nightmare), but it would at least be a new approach to bleeding off subscribers.

no. sad fact, and it's hard to admit, but there is NO effective libel law in the US when a public figure is involved. It exists in theory, but I can't think of a case in living memory where any public figure won a libel suit. Melania Trump won one because she was able to file in the UK, not here, and they have actual libel laws with teeth.
It's one of the areas where the US legal system is amazingly inept.

This is where I respectfully disagree. Trump has better instincts than any politician I've ever seen before. As a neophyte who never ran for dog catcher, he zeroed in on an issue that professional politicians avoided like the plague, and rode it to the White House. He instinctively knew that huge deficits with the Chinese were weapons to be used against them, not reasons to buckle beneath them. It goes on and on, but I struggle to find an issue that he had bad instincts on. Except, of course, faith in the system that made him a billionaire. There, however, so many of us were very wrong.

Why? Simple fact is that Trump is old. He is in good health now, but older folks can decline very rapidly... its just a crap shoot at that age.
So, Desantis gets us past some of the Never Trumpers, and is younger, and you point Trump at specific issues... use him as a Hatchet Man, as he is already Hated anyway.

DeSantis was already a Congressman in DC where he was a member of the "extreme" conservative Freedom Caucus. You guys keep saying "Wait till he gets to DC, he'll show his true stripes." He already was in DC, he already showed his true stripes -- he was a very strong conservative.

People. The President makes about 2500 appointments, most of which are not Senate-confirmed. Hillary, I am sure, has 2000 names and would have left some of the others for her senior people to bring in their people if they weren't already on Hillary's list. Trump had about 20. Not having his own people in place killed him. He fought through it heroically and got a lot more done than I thought he would, but people were a huge flaw.
I thought that, certainly no later than the convention, he would have started putting together two things: 1. A list of Day 1 Obama regulations to repeal, and 2. A list of 2500 people to appoint. He did neither. The next nominee can't make that mistake.

I remember the moment DeSantis had a deer in the headlights look when he made a comment that was exploited by the media as racism. I remember thinking he would cave and oh no, not again. But since then he hasn't missed a step. Still, I fear he is still somewhat green in dealing with the media. But it seems he does not have the same naive trust that Trump places on his 'friends'. Maybe DeSantis faith allows him to see evil more keenly?
Trump truly angers me with some of his picks for congress which are truly unacceptable, and his poor staffing and dealings with the media in which he makes the same mistakes over and over.
