91 Useless Trivia:

Sour cream and onion flavored potato chips exist because, in olden tymes, it had become a fad in California to mix Lipton's onion soup mix with sour cream and use it as a chip dip. Lipton's, of course, was only too happy to exploit this fad in their advertising, and soon the popularity of what became known as "California Dip" had spread far and wide. From there, it only took an enterprising potato chip company to put the dip flavor right on the chips, and Sour Cream and Onion-flavored chips were born.

That was Spider-Ham.

The character was created back in the '80s, and published under an imprint that otherwise did stuff for little kids (mostly cartoon adaptations, like Thunder cats; Spider-Ham was pure spoof, with references only older readers would get). Over the decades, Marvel has teased readers with cameos on things like variant covers. But they've only recently done a couple of stories with him.

Shit, this isn't even a "working poor" thing. Being a middle or even upper-ish middle-class wage-earner and having your car stolen or totaled by some retard should nearly qualify as a major life event even if you carry full-retard insurance on it.

You're going to be out a car and in a rental for a time if you're lucky, and be forced to find a car to drive to work in a short period of time, and one that may be more than you'd normally pay and not one you'd normally like, just to get back to "normal."

What a clueless, slapdick ass position to have.

Correct. Subject to your HO policy's 1% - 2% deductible, IIRC. Or maybe it's a flat stated deductible amount for 'personal property away from the home".

And commercial property, say like precision tools used in a trade or business, would need coverage under a commercial policy.

452 We had snow yesterday. I had a 5" diameter maple branch come down to the side of the front door. Lots of small stuff. The branch will stay until they come out to do the yard work this weekend. It's very confusing to the old dog. And the snow is all gone today.

453 WOW. Wind died down enough to do damage assessment. Power lines down Iin my front yard, 2 huge old hackberries in my neighbor3s yard got yanked out of the ground by their roots. Smashed back of neighbors house, missed my garage by about 12 inches.

458 I find it weird that people get so hung up on cars. If it gets stolen, get the insurance money and a new car. Unless it is some hard to find exotic or classic, whatever you drive, there are 1000 others to choose from it just like yours.

Yeah I know it is a pain in the ass and all. But still, its just a car. No need to create boobytraps fer crying out loud.

1983 Grenada, 1989 Panama

One I observed personally, although I'm not sure how intentional it was. In the olden days there used to be riots every summer in Korea. The university students used to be drafted into either riot police or army, and the riot police knew they were going to be university students, so there was a built-in grudge, and when colleges were off in the summer they used to riot. In 1987 the riots were unusually bad. They got into Itaewon, the shopping district, and ladies going to the department stores got tear gassed. Students and riot police got killed. It was sort of like the George Floyd situation in that the whole country was talking about it. Then it was announced that the Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs, Gaston Sigur, was coming to visit Korea. The entire nation asked itself why he would be visiting now. Part 2 to follow.

480 In Korea they think they have a lot more of America's time and attention than they actually do. For example, right now I'm sure they are coming to the conclusion that our actions in supporting Ukraine are being undertaken primarily to deter North Korea from attacking them, but they are concerned that our unwillingness to commit our forces means that we might not commit our forces to Korea, and that Korea policy is the primary driver of our policy in Ukraine. The fact that 99 percent of Americans go through their daily lives without ever thinking of Korea does not compute.

So Gaston Sigur came to visit. The entire country leapt to the conclusion that he was coming to ask Chun Doo Hwan, the general who was dictator, to resign. I have never seen anything like it. Korea TV news tracked his airplane on its way to Korea. A news reporter did a visual from Hawaii where he stopped to refuel with the airplane in the background. When it landed at Kimpo, it was on live TV, and his motorcade to the embassy was covered live. The next morning, he got up, drove the short distance to the Blue House, met with General Chun, and then drove to Kimpo, got on the airplane and left, all covered live.

485 Part 3: Face being what it is in that part of the world, on Monday morning General Chun did the only thing he could do and resigned. General Roh Tae Oo, the vice president, became President.

I have often wondered whether anyone at the State Department in Foggy Bottom had any idea what they set in motion when they announced the Assistant Secretary's visit. But once the announcement was made, it was like watching a slow motion drama that played out over a span of three weeks or so and resulted in the change of a government.

Those guys on Oak Island right now couldn't find the treasure in a starter D&D dungeon. Of course, the guys writing their scripts couldn't do it either. As for Skin Walker Ranch, well, random weird and creepy stuff is random weird and creepy stuff. It's not going to show up when the people with TV cameras want it to.

I would say yes they knew what might happen, since it was the time of Ronaldus Magnus when the government was mostly effective and did some good while they were at it, instead of burning $$$ like Heath Ledger's joker and finding new ways to screw over the USA and the free world at large.
