New York City Fires Lawyer and Mom for Asking the Mayor Why the City Continues to Forcibly Mask Toddlers

The Big Apple mom who crashed Mayor Eric Adams' press conference Monday to blast him over his tot mask mandate was fired shortly afterward from her job at the city Law Department, The Post has learned. Daniela Jampel, who served as an assistant corporation counsel, learned she was canned less than an hour after she confronted a caught-off-guard and apparently annoyed Adams over when he would "unmask our toddlers." Jampel had publicly challenged the mayor at an unrelated event on LGBTQ issues -- as Adams stood in front of a podium banner that read, "Come to the city where you can say whatever you want.'' "Three weeks ago, you told parents to trust you that you would unmask our toddlers," Jampel told the mayor. "You stood right here, and you said that the masks would come off April 4. That has not happened." As Jampel attempted to ask why, City Hall staffers tried to cut her off when they realized she wasn't a reporter, but Adams, seemingly miffed at the mom getting a question in, allowed her to continue, although he told her she needed to "come to a conclusion." "Turn on your phone so you can get my answer correctly but come to a conclusion," he snipped. Sources close to the matter said Jampel -- a leading local critic of the toddler mask mandate and pandemic school closures -- was informed by email shortly after the presser that she was fired. The Law Department's spokesman confirmed to The Post that Jampel was terminated Monday, although the rep said the decision to fire her was made "prior to today.

City attorney and public defender are different things. A city attorney might find himself defending a civil suit against a teacher, cop, prison guard who is a city employee and for whom the city may be liable. Public defenders do criminal defense for whomever they get assigned to.

I've seen a couple. Where I used to live was a county with an entrenched and corrupt Republican machine. There was a commissioner candidate who ran as a Dem because she couldn't run as a Rep because the good 'ole boy network in the county didn't want competition. Her positions were excellent and she was actually running to the right of the incumbent Republican.

Ah, so she was a city-employed lawyer who defended city employees in cases where the city might be exposed to liability.
So she proudly defended dirty cops, violent prison guards and sexually predatory teachers but toddler masking goes too far? I reckon she and her kid have never been the victims of a dirty cop, a violent guard or a teacher molester before. I vividly recall coming home from school one day (mid 90s) and telling my dad about my lessons that day and how we had covered "tolerance" and whatnot. He told me to be very, very careful about that kind of thing. I asked him something like, "But why? Isn't tolerating different people good?"

I read up on the surgeries a few years ago, just because I was curious about how it was done. I have read descriptions of what the fake "neo" organs look like, but I haven't seen any photos.
One "transition" surgeon quoted in an article was talking about how he sometimes has to use tissue from other parts of the body to construct the "neo" (fake) sex organ. He said that some surgeons use part of the colon, but that he doesn't like to do that because it smells foul and has the wrong texture and can make the new organ more susceptible to cancer and other things. There is just so much about these surgeries that is disgusting and grotesque and wrong, it's hard to know where to start.
But you're right, according to a lot of the people who've had it done, it IS mutilation -- and that's when the person gets a "good" result.

Right. She was a civil attorney for the City of New York (albeit a "counsel"). If this action against her were not so egregious it would almost be karma but it's a dirty job and someone's got to do it. Think the difference between the judiciary and the government (theoretically, at least, distinct). She represents the government in a judicial setting.
On a related note, maybe the illegals being shipped around the country can be trucked directly to NYC to repopulate it.

I lived there for 3 years in the 90s. It was a liberal city of course but it wasn't retarded liberal. It was at the tail end of the Giuliani era.
The thing about the city is there are 8 or 9 million people. And within that number there are all sorts of people. Even 5% of that population is a lot of people. So in my little world I just avoided the stupidity. I hung out with sane normal people for the most part. I'd run into some crazy types at a party or a friend of a friend thing, but in my daily life it never impacted me.
Today I don't think it's possible to avoid.

Yes. That's why in a criminal case you never ask your client whether he did it. You just ask what the state is going to allege and what evidence the state has. Then if you put him on the stand (almost never a good idea) he can lie his ass off and you aren't breaking the rules.

Here's a dirty little secret about NYC... the shopping, restaurants and music are pretty much available in most places now. As a performer who finally 'escaped' the NY Metro area a few months ago, I've been noticing for years that lots of states have smaller metro areas, and even suburban areas with great cultural offerings. NYC has been coasting on it's reputation for a while now.

I recall during the SSM debate that I stumbled across the site for Beyond Marriage org (long since deleted), and it specified how their goal was completely redefining marriage and family to be any legal union between 2 or more people in order to take advantage of the benefits of marriage/family (taxes, benefits, etc.). They put right in its mission statement that they would start with gay marriage, but that was simply step 1. So many academics and organizations had signed on to it, and it was at least 10 years old back then.
It was a real eye-opener as to how the Left operates. All that "love is love" crap was obviously an emotional appeal to LIVs, while really they were being so calculated, having mapped out destroying the traditional family completely.
They were never going to end with SSM.

Judges need room to be judicial, because the law is ignorant of situations and circumstances, it only knows bare facts. Leaving judges room to be wise and rule based on information surrounding the case often can lead to justice where bare imposition of law does not.
However, judges have been so inclined to abuse this to simply impose their social justice worldview on cases and try to manipulate culture or simply let people off lightly that the pity or like that the system is breaking down. Judges must be wise and judicious to properly use their judicial authority, and too many are not (like Ms "I'm not a biologist").
Prosecutors are in the same kind of boat, they need range to decline to prosecute some cases based on the circumstances and person involved, but are just using it to promote a lunatic worldview.

The "specialists" are other government employees and they are doing a cosmetic rearrangement of the CDC's deck chairs while not doing their own day jobs. It's still perjury for the defendant, but if you don't actually know that he's lying, then you haven't knowingly put a liar on the stand. It's on him. If you do know that he's going to lie, you can't let him testify. So the key is not to ask the defendant what the truth is, then you have no ethical problem. Just ask what the state is going to say you did, and what can they prove.
He would probably lie to you anyway. I don't do criminal work, but my civil clients lie to me and tell half-truths all the time, and we have privilege so there's no reason to.

Yep. I was enraged when I started reading articles about how they're now pushing puberty blockers on young kids. They're lying to parents and telling them that the effects are "completely reversible" but that is not true. And that's not my opinion, that's what recognized, credentialed, experienced "transition" doctors say. Two prominent transition docs wrote an article for the NYT about how puberty blockers are dangerous and have permanent, damaging effects on kids' bodies. The NYT refused to print the article, because it doesn't serve the lefty narrative. (The WSJ eventually published it.) And yet despite what we know about these drugs, states like NJ are still passing laws that allow these drugs to be pushed on grade school kids. It's madness.

The fascists figured out they would have better outcomes without nationalizing industries by default. The businessmen cooperate and do as the state says and achieve their objectives and in exchange they can be rich. Nationalization absolutely does exist, though, and it used as an overt weapon. If you fail achieve your goals or don't toe the party line, you'll be nationalized and you personally may be arrested or executed.
Fascism is still socialism, it's just pragmatic socialism.

He went all over the country for a decade, and he said that New Orleans was the nastiest, dirtiest, ugliest, and stinkiest place he ever stayed. He was there several times, and every time the same crap was there: the same piles of trash, the same ruined buildings, etc. Like nobody cleaned up anything.
But... the food was amazing and the life music was wonderful. Just not worth the visit.

Mira Mesa in CA now has ONE lane for two-way traffic - yes, you read that correctly - with bike lanes on either side of it. If you encounter someone coming the opposite direction, you're supposed to swerve into the bike lane to pass either other.
I'm not making this up. On the good part, this will probably get rid of a lot of cyclists, which is no bad thing IMO.

They're shoving these drugs on kids and forever altering their bodies and their lives, condemning many of them to horrible, lonely lives of sexual dysfunction, bodily deformity, infertility, and inability to achieve emotional intimacy. And they're doing it while deliberately lying to the kids' parents about what they're doing.
