The Quotes of The Day

Quote I

‘After recent play inspection training we were advised not to have daffodils in play areas as all parts of the daffodil can be poisonous’, St Blaise Town Council spokesperson said.

Quote II

The Overlord would never rescue "migrants" who risked life-and-limb on leaky boats made of empty plastic bottles or 55-gallon drum rafts so they could suckle on the ample American tit (as an aside, I'd fire warning shots to turn them back from these shores, and when that failed, open fire for reelz. This isn't because I "hate" immigrants; I hate lawbreakers, no matter what moral spin you try to put on it).Matthew Noto

Quote III

"Today I'm announcing my administration is extending the pause on federal student loan repayments through August 31st of 2022. I know folks were hit hard by this pandemic. And though we've come a long way in the last year, we're still recovering from the economic crisis it caused. This continued pause will help Americans breathe a little easier as we recover and rebuild from the pandemic.”***President*** Joe Biden

“This project is not only for me. I am very happy to climb Everest again. But I want to use my reputation to do some good things.” Seasoned alpinist and mountain guide Marc Batard

Lenten services and white liberal guilt collide.

A church in Chicago reportedly announced it is “fasting from whiteness” during the season of Lent.

The First United Church of Oak Park said it will not be playing any music written by white people, according to a story published Tuesday by Fox News, citing the church’s website, which was not accessible Wednesday morning.

“In our worship services throughout Lent, we will not be using any music or liturgy written or composed by white people,” the church’s website reads, reported Fox News. “Our music will be drawn from the African American spirituals tradition, from South African freedom songs, from Native American traditions, and many, many more.”

Now this is the proper way to use tax dollars. It's also a good attempt to get a message across.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott has announced the state will provide charter buses to send illegal immigrants to Washington, DC.

The crisis at the United States-Mexico border has shown no signs of slowing down, and the Biden administration has done little to quell the flow of illegal immigrants into the country.
In response, Texas governor Greg Abbott has decided to bring the issue directly to those in Washington, DC.

Don't State Attorney Generals have enough to worry about other than the NFL? For example, I know the State of New York has many more serious crime issues than women being harrassed.

6 State Attorneys General Threaten to Investigate NFL for Allowing “Overtly Hostile” Workplace Culture for Women
The attorneys general have “grave concerns” about allegations of workplace harassment of female and minority employees

But, on the other hand, the NFL can go suck a bag of dicks.

Of course it's our fault and we have let Disney down.

Disney Hires Obama Aide To Stop The Boycott
Their new PR strategy: blame it all on Republicans!

Disney has found itself on the losing side of the political battle over Florida’s anti-groomer bill that Governor Ron DeSantis has now signed into law — so the pro-pedophile corporation has turned to Michelle Obama’s former communications director to be their top spokesman and help stop the bleeding. She was hired yesterday.

Good grief. Is every little set back in life going to find it in my daily ONT research?

‘He cussed me out and tried to belittle me’: CEO berates, fires unpaid intern during Zoom call in viral TikTok

Users were shocked yesterday when a former intern revealed a video of his ex-boss, tech CEO Lawrence Griffith, cursing him out in a viral TikTok.

There has to be a nicer, kinder, gentler way to obtain bodily injury clients/plaintiffs.

A Florida personal injury attorney has been disbarred after she was accused of mowing down four people in a parking lot because of “voices” in her head, police said.

Beatrice Bijoux, 31, was charged with four counts of attempted murder after she allegedly mounted the sidewalk and struck the pedestrians outside a Fort Lauderdale grocery store back in February.

She told cops that “voices in her head had told her to kill the people,” according to an arrest report obtained by the Miami Herald.

Bijoux, who was allegedly driving at about 35 mph, made no attempt to slow down during the attack, police said.

At one point, surveillance video showed her “reversing at a high rate of speed” before she allegedly tried to strike another pedestrian, according to cops.

Dewey, Cheatem & Howe, S.C. concurs with The ONT opinion.

The ONT's counsel also approves of this verdict. Not Guilty!

Judge Acquits J6 Protester in First Defeat for DOJ

D.C. District Court Judge Trevor McFadden today delivered a major blow to the Justice Department’s aggressive prosecution of January 6 protesters. Following a bench trial this week for Matthew Martin, a New Mexico man charged with the most common misdemeanors related to the Capitol protest, McFadden found Martin not guilty on all counts. It is the first acquittal in a January 6 case; nearly 800 Americans have been arrested and charged, mostly on petty offenses, for their involvement in the four-hour disturbance that day.

Martin was arrested a year ago on four counts: entering and remaining in a restricted building, disorderly conduct in a restricted building, violent entry, and parading in the Capitol building. Prosecutors confirmed he was in the building for roughly 10 minutes.

He pleaded not guilty and opted for a bench trial before McFadden, a Trump appointee. Taking the stand in his own defense, Martin said he was “waved” into the building by Capitol police. According to BuzzFeed’s Zoe Tillman, who is covering the in-person trials in Washington, an official for the U.S. Capitol Police testified that police “were so vastly outnumbered and couldn’t stop people [and] all they could do was observe [and] try to make sure no one got hurt.”

Many universities and colleges do not believe in "Free Speech". Now they are taking the position that you can not face your accuser.

Why is Linfield University investigating English professor Reshmi Dutt-Ballerstadt?

Today, she enters a third week as the subject of a major university inquiry — complete with an outside investigator — still awaiting an answer to that most basic question.

Linfield told Dutt-Ballerstadt it commissioned an investigation of her late last month, a few days after she poked fun at the business school on her personal social media accounts, praising English majors and emphasizing tensions between Linfield’s English department and business school. Now it appears to be doubling down on ditching due process for faculty. Linfield announced via newsletter last week that all employee complaints are confidential. So confidential, it seems, that faculty accused of wrongdoing like Dutt-Ballerstadt are not allowed to know why they’re even being investigated.

Some "How-To" books aren't worth the paper they are printed on. ‘How to Murder Your Husband’ author on trial for husband’s death

(NewsNation) — Nancy Crampton Brophy, a 71-year-old romance novelist, has authored nearly a dozen books, but it’s a blog post she wrote in 2011 titled “How to Murder Your Husband” that’s now turning heads.

More than a decade after penning the post, Brophy is on trial for the murder of her 63-year-old husband.

Chef Daniel Brophy was found dead inside the Oregon Culinary Institute in 2018 as students arrived for their classes. Nearly four years after the well-known chef’s shooting death, the murder trial is underway and expected to last weeks.

One key point in the trial is that Crampton Brophy’s “How to Murder Your Husband” blog post has been excluded from the trial. The novelist wrote the post for a writers workshop and it has garnered loads of attention since her arrest.

I can't speak for you. But, I chuckled at this.

Electric vehicle charging points in a council's car parks have been hacked to show a porn website on their screens.

Isle of Wight Council has three charge points in Quay Road, Ryde, Cross Street, Cowes and Moa Place, Freshwater.

In a statement the council apologised "to anyone that may have found the inappropriate web content".

The authority said staff were due to visit the charge points "to ensure the third party web address is covered up".

You get what you pay for. Genius Award Winners.

A tree removal job went terribly wrong in Bellevue on Monday, sending a 140-foot Douglas fir tree crashing down into a home in the Newport Hills neighborhood.

The neighbor who owned the tree told KIRO7 he was hoping to get the tree cut down for free in exchange for the wood.

It ended with his neighbor’s home getting destroyed.

26 Well. I am visiting colleges with my daughter. Eye opening.

Today we visited one of the last remaining "women's colleges." They were all about their history as one of the seven sisters, and how women and alumni stick together. Except, also they made clear - they are not really a women's college - they have a LOT of trans-men.

So what is the value prop here? Is it a women's college, or is it not? Are trans-men okay at a women's college because they are really women? Or somehow different from men? Because my understanding is that transmen are men. Despite their ovaries and periods and stuff.

They closed hard with the women's college pitch! Yay women! No icky cis-men in the gym! But also, really we are a safe space for all marginalized gender identities.

101 This continued pause will help Americans breathe a little easier as we recover and rebuild from the pandemic

Eighty-five percent of Americans don't have student loan debt. The average student loan debt is about $39,000.

The people with six-figure student loan debt tend to fall into two classes: doctors and dentists who can easily repay their debts, and people who went to expensive private schools, and then went onto graduate school. At most, 5% of the American population is in the second group.

The people who went into six-figure debt for largely useless degrees tend to be women from affluent families, to the extent that student loan debt is characterized as a "woman's issue". They also tend to be all Democrats.

Poor babies.

BTW, if any of you have watched some silly Allstate commercials, here's the latest song they've been using: Michel Legrand's "Digue-A-Ding Ding:"

Heavy drinking will mess with your chemical balance. Causes depression even if you're sober a day or two. You have to dry out for a while. Take your vitamins. You'll feel balanced in a few weeks.

Vitamin D is especially important.

156 If the women-in-STEM activists were serious about it, they'd take on the "we own you 40+ hours a week, 50 weeks a year" culture that pervades the very heavily corporatized STEM world. And a lot of men would join forces with them because we'd love to get more free and/or family time even if it means taking a pay cut. I don't claim to be any sort of expert in females--I am an engineer, after all, so females are just a vauge metaphysical concept--but the ones I've known tend to be more interested in being promoted to mommy than being promoted to management. So they're not really interested in fields with no concept of part-time employment.

But the women-in-STEM activists will never do that because they're a coven of careerist spinsters. So all they'll ever do is extort some money out of the corpos that remains exclusive to careerist spinsters.

160 Ultimately, I think endorsements on any side have very little influence.

I agree. I do think going on the stump for a candidate will help them, but that’s less the endorsement than the added publicity of having some well-known individual on stage with the candidate.

Of course, some barnstormers do generate enthusiasm for the candidates they stump for. Trump, for instance, probably convinces a lot of people to get out and vote for other candidates, people who wouldn’t otherwise do so.

No, it won't.

Granted, my viewpoint is poisoned by my living in MA, but high gas prices will not make a difference in blue state voters' minds at all. They will, with the help of the MFM, blame it on greedy oil companies, Trump or the GOP. Or, if they don't blame anybody, they will - masochistically - say that they deserve to pay high prices for gas because Americans have it too good and the only way to force the deplorables into buying earf-friendly electric vehicles is to jack the price of horrible gasoline so high that the middle class (but not the illegals, who will be given absolution and vouchers) will have to get rid of their horrible cars, trucks and SUVs.

The problem with your formulation is that you are just spoutting the same stuff you said 3 years ago and you never actually look at what is happening.

You constantly change the goal posts because just like the left you want certain people indicted instead of actual crimes charged. That's not how the law works despite what you or I might want. Not everything that is morally wrong is a crime.

The job of a prosecutor is to investigate and prosecute actual crimes. And you keep assuming that that those who broke the law will willingly turn over the evidence of their criminal acts.

You should follow what's really happening instead of insisting nothing is. There's a reason Hunter's laptop is being talked about and Durham's investigation is asking for evidence held by the Clinton campaign and the DNC when you said for years it never would be.

305 MPPP,

You need to put the bottle down and stop with the erotic stuff. Get your butt into a church that still has traditional Latin Mass ( I KNOW we are from the same ethnic background, so yah, consider me a relative with no filters...)

Got so much time on your hands? Find a place that needs you. Volunteer someplace where you see how good you really have it. Make NEW friends. Do not be alone. Covid and the the collective mental illness that is leftism destroyed family ties and life-long friendships. You can write, so you are already leaving something of yourself for posterity. That's more than most people do. Teach people to write who wish they could write.

Maybe you have to find your tribe ( maybe the northeast ain't it?)

Get out of your head and into the world.

There are amazing folks in these here grey boxes. I've seen them show the best of humanity towards each other. Get to know them and talk to them when you need to get out of your head.

You presume that I have not read them. I have. What is happening, exactly? Some paper is being shuffled? Oooh. That will bring justice, punish the bad guys, and warn people off from doing the same thing in the future.

I read all this stuff, at least at the same time as you, and perhaps even before, and so far no one has gone to jail for the Russian collusion hoax. And even with all this paperwork, it still doesn't look that way. Presume that Sussmann gets some jail time. What is the crime he is indicted for? False statement to the FBI. He isn't being punished for pushing fake info to frame a Presidential candidate/President. He's being prosecuted for telling the FBI something that wasn't true.

This will be used to immunize the FBI from their bad faith. They knew who Sussmann was and who he worked for. They knew where it came from. But now they have an excuse. And Durham is giving it to them.

It ended with his neighbor's home getting destroyed.

It can be very dangerous. The butt of the barber-chair can kick out very rapidly and hit you with a killing blow. If you are on the ground, falling, and you see it start to barber-chair, you can drop the saw, and run sideways to the cut. But if you are up the tree with a belt and climbing irons, and it barber-chairs while you are topping it, you have no place to run.

Long sordid Lifetime TV story. Anyways, found out last year that nephew had gone off to Chicago and was getting married; then found out that she was this ultra-woke harpy that looks like Lena Dunham who embodied all the worst features of his crazy mother, and we went WTF???

the final piece of the puzzle was learning that she was a trust fund baby worth about 20 million, and he gets the use of it as long as he does every single thing she tells him to do without question, and also that he cater to her every single whim anytime she tells him to. I'm pretty sure he's gonna find out this isn't nearly as good a deal as he thinks its gonna be.

They were felling a larch tree, and before the second cut was complete, the trunk "barber-chaired". Split up the middle, leaving a 2" slab of unsawn wood between the undercut and the main cut. As the tree topples, the butt end kicks out, FAST, like the footrest of a barber chair as it is reclinded. Hence the name of the failure. People have been killed that way, many times.

449 Barber hair has a number of causes, sometimes the cut was wrong or or the back cut was too high. Some times it is because a leaner has the back side stretched. The outside layer is drawn tight like a bowstring so when you start your back cut it barberchairs. The biggest killers are alder and maple, with a side of rotten hollow firs.

There are techniques to mitigate risks

460 AOP. Glad the '55 Chebby was abandoned.

All of those "X-frame" (a literal view of the chassis layout) GM cars were insubstantial deathtraps, in the extreme.

ZERO strength to absorb lateral, frontal or rearward impacts, with only the body-shell to render resistance to impact from those directions. No wonder the engine popped like a zit. Not to mention the abysmal "handling qualites" that such a guaranteed-to-twist frame lent to the erstwhile suspensions of the day.

GM has long been the "go the cheap route" manufacturer, while MOPAR was unjustly saddled with that reputation for years. Ford though, has always built strength into the platform, but with hit/miss quality and engineering.

Ain't no domestic winners for years, till the Quality Revolution of the '90s and beyond.

Heh. My friend, Paul was his name, said never be tempted to buy a car that had been hit buy a train, even if the damage appears to be light. If the engine was running at the time of the hit, the gyroscopic forces could have been enough to bend the engine's crankshaft, and even if it runs again, it won't last long.

Mom drove it here until around 1980 when she finally got a new car. I loved that thing. Once in a while the linkage would stick, mom showed me how to pop the hood and fix it, and back on the road in less than a minute. I remember some mexican kid telling mom, womens like you shouldn't drive cars like this.

Of course, it was red, with red and white tuck and roll m and d had done in socal in the late 60;s early 70's.

Even then, expect at least a ten to fifteen degree body & chassis twist, off the line. So very many Fuelers lurched out of their dragstrip lanes after the initial launch wheelie, that it's not even funnycar, anymore. Those "traction bars" from rear axle to frame were the ONLY thing that kept those cars even remotely straight on launch. At a minimum, weld in the "X" frame sections to become fully boxed sections, and run reinforcements down the body side sills from wheelwell to wheelwell.

483 I just finished reading the WSJ's editorial page. Alan Blinder had an op-ed up that urged us to wish the Fed good luck in how it will have to deal with inflation.

First of all, thanks Alan. We are in this mess due to your efforts and people like you on the left.

Secondly, I'm reserving what little luck I can personally hand out to the people I know who saw this crap coming and who tried to do something to prevent it from happening. They're the ones who deserve what little good fortune we're going to see in the upcoming years, not fools like Blinder and his gang.

Finally, I actually do hope that the Fed can mitigate this disaster to a considerable degree, though I know they won't be able to do so. What really needs to happen is to remove as many of the idiots who think like Blinder from their positions of power in the federal government and the corporate boardrooms (I'm looking at you ESG folks in particular) as possible.

That will help out greatly in the future.

The Fed is the reason we're in this mess to begin with. They are the ones who enabled all this wild spending and debt. By turning the printing presses wide open.

It started in 2008, of course, when they did to to "save the system" (too big to fail you know). Then came the Coof, and the shutdown of the economy with wild federal spending to give everyone money to spend so they wouldn't go broke. And enabled the biggest fraud in history with the PPP. People should be shot for the fraud in PPP.

Just look at graph of how money the Fed increased the money supply during 2020. It was fuckin' unbelievable.

As I've mentioned here before a time or two, Denninger thinks the Fed will actually do a Volcker if it has to, in order to save the dollar and save themselves. If the US dollar goes down, they and their bankster buddies go down with it.

The Fed has enabled the lunacy of Congress' spending all this years. A responsible Fed would've refused to print to finance, and let T-rates start to explode to reign in Congress. Congress would've raged, but they could have held firm, as they're supposed to be independent.

Right now, the Fed hasn't really done anything. It's jawboning: "Yep, inflation is getting out of hand, and we're going to have to do something. Yessirree, bobtail." They are attempting to talk the market into responding.

If the market doesn't they are going to have to do something themselves, which amounts to pulling the shit ton of money they put in the system out.

If the Fed goes Volcker, the economy is going to crash. It will be Great Depression 2.0. They know it. To save the dollar, a Greater Depression will be required.

Jim, I don't know. If the Fed acts to save the dollar, that would, at first blush, help with the dollar to gold ratio. You'd think. But I have no clue. But, it would be a good idea to have some metals. Not your whole wealth, of course, but just some fraction to have. Physical.

The biggest problem is federal health care spending. It's now $4.6T fucking dollars per year. That's Medicare, Medicaid, and VA, etc. Now, 20 years ago and earlier, one could see that the rate of health care spending was going to bankrupt the federal govt. We're at the "all at once" stage of the bankruptcy now.

Believe it or not, Social Security, proper, could be fixed and "saved" with just a little pain. But Medicare etc cannot. They are fucked. And those who depend on it will be fucked as well.

Those that depend on Medicare and Medicaid ain't gonna get no health care. Sorry, no money. Now, this should force the ridiculously bloated, criminal health care system to crash as well, and hopefully reset.

I've come to realize that the health care industry has been nothing but a grift, a way for psychopaths to get rich off the system for decades. The entire system is a criminal enterprise, doing nothing but milking consumers and taxpayers for everything they can.

Yep. I haven't looked at the government spending.org site (or something like that) in years, but what I recall is that transfer payments are like 70 percent of all fed spending. Like 20 percent welfare, 20+ percent medicare/medicaid, 20+ percent something else. 7 percent was interest on debt, about 14 percent military.

A real eye opener.
No clue of the breakout now.
No doubt horrific.

Yeah, a buddy of mine just relayed his horror story with his wife for the last few months. She got COVID, and was hit hard with it. He got it, but was down for a few days. She insisted, I think, to go to the hospital, and before you know it they put her on a fucking ventilator. The fucking doctors were coaxing him to pull the plug, but by some miracle, some respiratory measure dropped to some certain level, and she was eligible for a teach instead of the intubation.

After fighting with the insurance, she got moved to Mary Free Bed in GR (she was in Pontiac). Now she is home, and is doing therapy to regain her strength (she was/is severely overweight).

I saw my primary care Doc earlier this year after not seeing her for two years. She talked about having to work the ER during the Dempanic and watching patients die right before her eyes, knowing she could do nothing. A real heart-tugging barn burner of a story. She pushed me to get the jab, even though I'm a heart patient and the jab had been shown to have serious heart side effects. I then told her no, I wasn't getting the jab because the gub'mint has been lying to us the whole damn time. She said she wasn't going to get into the politics of it but that I should get the jab. I said the jab was the politics of it.

I think too many doctors push the jab because if they don't they might be cancelled (as in their medical license). I had no respect for lawyers before the Dempanic (sorry to any lawyers here) and now I have little to no respect for doctors, especially after those supposedly concerned with my health lied. Maybe that was part of the plan, I don't know.

Back in the day, those old independent doctors were not in debt, didn't owe anybody anything, and were the top tier of local society. Doc White, and his peers, in the day, were examples. Their "offices" were usually in their own houses. They owned a nice house, and some land, right on the outskirts of town.

They may have had a nurse, who might be their own wife, working for them. Their land and house was paid for, they didn't owe anybody anything, and they spoke their mind.

They made house calls. People who couldn't afford their fees, well, they ran a tab. Doc White was famous for "means testing", you might say, in his fee schedule.

If somebody was sick, he was gonna treat him. One could pay him later, maybe next Tuesday. He wasn't too worried about it -- you could work something out. Maybe give him a fifth when you could afford it.

578 It started in 2008, of course, when they did to to "save the system" (too big to fail you know). Then came the Coof, and the shutdown of the economy with wild federal spending to give everyone money to spend so they wouldn't go broke. And enabled the biggest fraud in history with the PPP. People should be shot for the fraud in PPP.

**********

I won't argue against the point that the Fed has screwed up badly and that they enabled Congress to spend wildly. They did but they're not the genesis of the problem. Congress and the Executive branch hold this dubious distinction.

The Financial Crisis of 2008 had its origins in the late 80s and early 90s when Congress, with H.W.'s consent, enabled activists like Obama to use CRA to force banks to make those loans to risky applicants, and this was further exasperated by the actions undertaken by that hideous Assistant Secretary of HUD that Clinton appointed, to name just two examples of why Congress and the Executive branch should be flame-broiled first before the Fed when it comes to assigning blame with inflation.

A great-uncle of mine was the shop foreman at a local Cadillac dealership in Greenville SC. Their biggest clients were doctors, lawyers, and preachers. This Uncle live to be almost 101, died in 2001, just a few weeks short of his 101th. Fate decreed that I would bear witness to his passing.

He retired in the '60s, and he and his wife went all over the country in an Airstream trailer. He visited all 50 states, which was his goal. He didn't take the Airstream to Hawaii, but they did fly out there.

He had some thoughts about his clientele: son, don't do business with doctors, lawyers, or preachers. The first are dumb -- they get their heads full of all that doctorin' knowledge, which drives all common sense out of their heads. The second are crooks, and the third, preachers, are just looking for a handout.

He confirmed that Doc White was the best in the area. The head of the Greenville Hospital system at the time told him so, when my uncle asked who was the best. That head of the hospital system was a Cadillac driver, of course.

He confirmed the "best when sober, second best when drunk" assessment of ol' Doc White. I took that as confirmation.

580 to name just two examples of why Congress and the Executive branch should be flame-broiled first before the Fed when it comes to assigning blame with inflation.

I don't think Hell, itself, is big enough to flame-broil all those who need flame-broiling.

582 Of course, by "flame-broiling" these people, I mean it figuratively, not literally. I'd like to see them shunned politically and socially to such an effective degree that they won't seek public office again and that any activists who think like them will know that they cannot act in the manner that these people did. They don't deserve to wield power ever again, given the grave damage that they did (and in the case of Obama and Roberta Achtenberg, Clinton's Assistant Secretary for HUD, did with full knowledge that they were intentionally harming America).

That great-uncle of mine use to laugh about a certain Greenville area preacher who demanded a 10% ministerial discount on his bill.

Uncle told the secretary, you just charge him normal price. You figure a list price that works out so the normal price is 10% off that. He paid what everyone else did, by thought he was getting a 10% ministerial discount.

You're a nicer person than I am. I'm okay with tarring and burning at the stake; hanging also works. Just having them shunned is not good enough as they have the financial resources (from their 'public service') to avoid the disastrous effects of policies they implemented. I'm a meanie: I want them to suffer and suffer bigly.

588 Robert Smalls broke several laws in 1862, when he stole the steamship Planter to escape slavery with his family, other fugitive slaves, and stolen Confederate weapons. I want him in Statuary Hall.

589 So you're an unpaid intern and the CEO wants you to call...

You don't call, and when he gets pissed and yells at you, then you (unpaid intern) tell the fucking CEO to "relax"

Yes, you're fired. SO fired.

592 What's up here, can anyone give a brief summary? I noticed the time is off 2 hrs from CST. Did that happen w/ the time change?

Saw a ool bit tonight, either on Tucker or Gutfeld. I've always despised the way Jen Socki lies w/ such condensation. It was a fun bit, going over 12 times Socki out and out lied.

She going to CNN? Should be a good fit. *spit*
