The Morning Report - 4/1/22

shillbabyshill.jpg

Good morning, kids. April Fool's Day. The weekend is here and yet again, while the Biden Spongiform Encephelopathy continues to physically eat away at the frontal lobes of the man "elected" president by 81 million ballots (barely 25% of them cast by actual individual voters), it has only served to enhance his ugly, thuggish personality that has only grown uglier and more thuggish over the past 50 years of embellishing his bank account at the expense of the American taxpayer and our national security.

Whether he, or really the Klain Kalorama Komintern controlling his mouth (and having less and less control over it with each passing week) understand or even give a damn that killing off the fossil fuel industry will not only not lead to a green, clean utopia where polar bears will knock on your door, give you a "bear hug" and slip you the tongue for driving a Prius but absolutely turn is into a dystopian nightmare of disease, starvation and early death. If we're lucky. Before that happens, the figurative slitting of our own economic throats will give rise to a bevy of international throat-slitters that will make us yearn for the relative cuddliness of Vladimir Putin.

So, what's a globalist commie to do when their planned demolition of society to pave the way for the glorious remaking of it in their own image goes a little too well? Meaning, skyrocketing gasoline prices cascading into stagflation across the board just as an election season heats up? Invoke a well-tried Leftist mantra: "The Beatings Will Continue Until Morale Improves."

Biden urged oil companies to start producing more oil, threatening to punish them if they do not respond.

The [so-called quote-unquote "president"] accused oil companies of “hoarding” federal oil leases, announcing a new “use it or lose it” plan, where he would charge companies more fees if they failed to develop their oil leases on federal land or even take them away.

“[T]hey can put those profits to productive use by producing more oils, restarting idle wells, or producing on sites they are already leasing,” Biden said.

He acknowledged it took “months, not days” to ramp up production, announcing he would release one million barrels of oil per day to help fight shortages in the meantime.

Biden told reporters his efforts could bring down gas prices as much as 35 cents a gallon. . .

. . . “This is not the time to sit on record profits. It’s time to step up for the good of our country,” he said.

But Biden did not offer any proposals to reduce the regulatory and environmental burdens that oil companies face, which only increase the cost of oil or gas. He also did not announce a plan to fast track or speed up new leases after spending his presidency trying to ban oil leases on federal land altogether.

Instead, the [so-called quote-unquote "president"] said, he would “double down” on his clean energy agenda to “speed the transition to a clean energy future.”

“Ultimately, we and the whole world need to reduce the dependence on fossil fuels altogether,” he said.

So, blame the evil money-grubbing bastards for hoarding profits and sitting on drilling leases yet at the same time blame Putin. Hold out the Arafat olive branch arm by invoking patriotism and then brandish the Arafat pistol-packing arm and force them to shoot themselves in the head with it. Aside from the dementia, you know Joey Soft-Serve did not write those words. It reeks of Stalinist phraseology the same way the Bolsheviks of yore went after the Kulaks.

In the here and now, what he's saying is, Gasoline = Evil! Getting my party wiped out in the midterms = Even More Evilerer!

The latest amount of U.S. oil release being considered, which is equivalent to about two days of global demand, would mark the third time the United States has tapped its strategic reserves in the past six months, and would be the largest release in the near 50-year history of the SPR. . .

. . . High gasoline prices are a political liability for Biden and his Democratic Party as they seek to retain control of Congress in November elections.

Given that the United States is taking a "muscular stance toward Moscow, promising more sanctions if Russia continues to wage war in Ukraine, we believe the SPR release is being used as a tool to blunt the impact of these foreign policy decisions for U.S. consumers," RBC Capital said in a note to clients.

U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said last week that the United States and its allies in the IEA were discussing a further coordinated release from storage.

Let me say that I am no special pleader for the fossil fuel industry. Like Big Pharma before them in the push to foist national healthcare on us and most recently these unnecessary at best and lethal at worst vaccines on us for the General Tso's Sickness, corporate America has gotten in bed with the Junta for fun and profit. The fun part is subjugating and lording over us filthy, ignorant lumpenproles. But, at least some of the oil execs told the Junta to go pound sand by refusing to be roasted in front of some kangaroo congressional committee.

The solution is absolutely simple. Stop this green madness and drill for every last subatomic particle of oil, coal and natural gas. Of course, for many reasons, that is a non-starter. It's ironic in the extreme that the environmentalist movement itself, if not created out of whole cloth by the old Soviet Union's KGB, was thoroughly coopted by them back around the first Earth Day in 1970. What a co-iny-dink; it turns out it was Lenin's birthday. The Junta gets the uninformed all wee-wee'd up about Putin being a tyrant when the greatest extension of Russian tyranny - The Environmental Protection Agency - has been absolutely strangling progress, economic growth and prosperity since Richard Nixon got bamboozled into creating it as a way to make the Left like him. Sound familiar?

In fact every rotten thing about the counterculture going back 60 years was a communist plot created in Moscow to destabilize and destroy us from within. And with the Soviets gone the Red Chinese have taken over and ramped that up to eleventy-leven.

It cannot be said often or loudly enough:

OIL IS LIFE

Everything you eat, wear, consume or otherwise come in contact with is either made in whole or in part by some form of carbon compound that is found in oil, coal, or natural gas. Until the free market, via innovation, discovery via experimentation or sheer dumb luck discovers alternate materials and processes that give us everything we need to sustain and improve our lives at a lower cost than that of fossil fuels, then forcing us to do otherwise by decree is tantamount to mass murder, sooner or later. Not just because of hurling us back a few hundred years in terms of quality and length of life, but opening the floodgates for global tyrants who won't go green to subjugate those of us who won't freeze and starve to death first. Or won't be shot into a mass grave for protesting.

Have a good weekend.

23 One of the better non-fiction books I've read is The Prize, a history of the oil industry, it doubles as a history of the 20th century. Oil explains everything.

I lived through the stagflation of the late 70s. Early on, it defied most of the macroeconomic models then in vogue. In retrospect it was simple. A large, quick increase in oil prices increases the cost of nearly everything, while simultaneously depressing economic activity.

Claim that they *are* giving out leases (or that they don't need to because there are plenty out there for exploration), and the problem is those EEEEVIL OIL COMPANIES!!!!!!11!!!!1!!!ELEVENTY! who won't actually drill (because they don't want more profits? hush, they're rolling).

72 But Biden did not offer any proposals to reduce the regulatory and environmental burdens that oil companies face, which only increase the cost of oil or gas. He also did not announce a plan to fast track or speed up new leases after spending his presidency trying to ban oil leases on federal land altogether.

Instead, the [so-called quote-unquote "president"] said, he would "double down" on his clean energy agenda to "speed the transition to a clean energy future."

I believe it, really.

1. Very few people understand the math involved, or realize how much more expensive it is to own an electric car. They only know what the TV tells them, and the TV tells them that EVs are the car of the future.

B. Government subsidies (both to the individual and to certain businesses) really do cut down on *perceived* cost of ownership. When you can drive to the grocery store and charge up while you're shopping, and then drive to the movie and charge up there, too, so at night you only really need a little bit of a charge - and the government is subsidizing THAT too... it doesn't seem like it's costing that much to power your vehicle.

III. The majority of people I know only travel further than about 50 miles in a day a couple of times a year (vacations). Anyone I know who travels further than that every day DOES already understand the EV scam, but they would definitely fit into that other 45% that wouldn't consider an EV.

77 The solution is absolutely simple.

THE REST OF THE ANSWER
Releasing oil from the strategic reserve can reduce gas prices for a very short time.
Then because of all the stupidity crippling the production of oil and gas. Prices will rise again rapidly.
In fact, gas prices will rise even higher and faster because the Strategic Oil Reserve needs to be refilled because it's a Strategic Oil Reserve, retards.

SpaceX is years ahead and they need to be knocked down a notch. They would have had men in space doing runs to the ISS long before they actually did it if not for the interference. They were ready for a goodly while before they finally got permission. Trump cleared a lot of roads by removing arbitrary regulatory obstacles. Obama threw them up and Biden is doubling down. Government road-blocking of SpaceX is a small example of what's going on everywhere. Obama had bonkers, bad policies that Biden is moving further down the road.

For SpaceX specifically, it's pretty clear why (at least to me). They're a threat to NASA. They are moving faster and much more cheaply but more importantly, they're doing it wrong. They're not spending years in supercomputer simulations, they're blowing up rockets and collecting telemetry and trying again. It's old school. It's *wrong.*

I think there's a good chance of the bloodbath happening. Midterms are much harder to steal and it's much less centralized. Turnout is lower. The number of places you have to misbehave is much larger. Stealing the presidency is far easier than stealing big chunks of Congress.

But there are also a ton of reasons why that bloodbath might not happen. There's fraud, of course, and it will be a factor in many races. There's also the problem of the Republicans shooting themselves in the feet. Like supporting a war in Ukraine and flipping to confirm Jackson on the SCOTUS, for example. Those things hurt. Why vote for that?

And then the real problem, which is that even if the bloodbath happens, it matters little. It will be failure theater as a distraction while the deep state does what it does.

115 Bill Gates, Warren Buffet and Jeff Bezos are working on nuclear power for you.

Nuclear power brought to you by Microsoft and Amazon? I see no way *that* could go wrong...

I can't quite bring myself to believe they're evil enough to be building one or plants designed to fail to try to stick the final nail in the coffin of nuclear power in the US, but sometimes even my cynicism falls short of reality.

That said, if they're really building nuclear plants that are really going to be operating at reasonable capacity and really going to be hooked to the grid - I'm all for it. Those guys are slimeballs, but they're not wrong about nuclear energy being the best thing we have going for the grid.

I would be much, much happier if the people building the plants were more trustworthy.

As for motive, It's possible that they have *also* done the math on EVs and realize the grid simply can't support even 50% adoption of them. If they want the proles to be stuck in their 100 - 150 mile bubbles (to be shrunk later, I'm sure), they need to make sure those EVs people are being convinced, cajoled, or shamed into buying can actually get them to and from work and the store.

Yeah, the relationship is odd and there's been flow of money from NASA to SpaceX. That money was used very well. But a lot of the obstruction tricks being used now - FAA interference, canceling launch windows, etc. - were being used under Obama. Another favorite trick during that administration was playing games with launch capacity at Canaveral. It was weirdly contradictory, but I think the obstruction was the dominant theme after 2012.

214 You don't have to be very deep in the oil industry to understand the simple facts. That is, a little over a year ago we were energy independent and gas was hovering around two dollars and change. So what happened? Brandon's War on Energy happened. They have sicced the regulatory state on the oil and gas industry, including refineries. They have essentially shut down the federal oil and gas lease process. They have shut down further exploration in ANWR. They have stopped, on day one, a pipeline that would have led to much more supply from Canada.

Releasing from the reserve won't do squat over long term prices. Most of the commodity brokers already moved their targets for a barrel of oil up to ~$115.00. Trying to make oil companies and their employees the bad guys for your green delusion isn't going to work.

215 intent to terrify, intimidate, or unlawfully influence the conduct of a candidate for public office, public servant, election official, or public employee in any decision

The way representative government is supposed to work, is that people elect representatives that will vote the way they want.

How do the representatives know which way to vote? By getting regular feedback from the voters.

Now they throw in the weasel word "unlawfully" but you should be able to demand, yell it, swear at, and threaten to vote out officials based on their take on the issues of the day. Violence should be off the table...but basically everything else should be ok.

IIRC, this sort of law has been used against voters that have said they will lead an effort to vote against, recall, or have an official fired - which should all be protected as it is the heart of the way representative government is supposed to work.

This can't possibly be true. I've been assured by the media that Ukraine is easily winning this war

I read Western and neutral sources and occasionally Russia sources when I can.

And then I balance it all against the maps of territory controlled which you can find.

And the western sources bear no relation, whatsoever, to what control on the ground apparently looks like.

That Russia is taking more losses then it originally expected is a reasonable interpretations. That the Ukrainian army won't lose the war baring direct western intervention though is just not correct.

The only question now is how much pain the Uke government wants before giving up the Russian enclaves and...if this keeps up if the Russians will eventually demand all the territories that oppose Western candidates (in the last mostly free election in 2010 Ukraine was split between Eastern and Western supporting candidates)

And releases from the SPR cannot help natural gas. We've been getting a free ride on gas for a long time now, with it selling for below the cost of production. You get a lot of gas when you frack for oil, and it has to go somewhere so the price comes down, even to below the cost of production, because you're after something else and just get it as a consequence. And what happens when you have such cheap gas for a long time? You switch to it. Many power plants switched to it. Gas becomes preferred.

So this war on oil and fracking hurts gas a lot - tremendously, even - toward the end of a major a capital cycle that switched over to it and made us far more dependent on it, putting more everyday things downstream from it. A great time to make the price surge.

242 The process to get a federal lease is very complicated and expensive. Lettuce Brain had his regulators make it more arduous (and probably violating federal law). They are basically shutting down oil leases in the gulf by not putting out their program (in violation of federal law). In the end, many of those leases do not produce ANYTHING. That is, after a company has spent the money for exploration. This canard that oil companies are sitting on leases is total bullshit. Especially since Brandon has weaponized the permit process against the drillers.

Not to mention that they know, by experience, that when operating under a hostile government, it's easiest and just as profitable to stop investing and simply make money by watching prices skyrocket.

273 You know, a great deal of the problem is that Biden has been convinced or convinced himself that he gonna be FDR 2. Hell, not even that, -

FDR Cubed as The Daddy of Green America and the New Green World.

But, you'd have to be senile and/or very stupid on a basic level to believe that can happen the way they're going about it. Biden is both and the stupid is bone deep.

He obviously believes that if you, follow me here, completely destroy and dismantle the petroleum based energy and economic system, then magically the new petroleum-free society will arise over night, because-

of course, everyone will be able to pay $50K for a new EV. And the power grid for this will spring up over night. And everyone on gas heating, etc can just throw away their old HVAC system and buy a new one, and on, and on, and on.

It's clear Biden and his handlers haven't thought one millisecond ahead regarding consequences and process. Unless, you want to totally drive the country into mass poverty,

which Biden probably wouldn't care about as long as he gets his 10% anyway.

Yesterday, our Weather Channel had some crap about how in Nova Scotia it only cost $380 [at 15-cents/kWh] to 'fuel' an EV for 15,000 km contrasted with something like $3,000+ for a variety of ICE vehicles.

I couldn't find it out for N.S. but Ontario's CAA had a cost calculator that does take into account initial cost, estimated repairs etc. and taking all the other expenses into account, the midsize ICE vehicle beat the EV even if the $380 for 15,000 km is accurate [although I used 20,000 km in the CAA Calculator as it didn't have a 15,000 option]. I think I used midsize Hyundai or the like as the ICE vehicle.

Don't disagree. But this is more short-term. They need a graph that at worst will show the "35 cent" decrease before November.

In particular, pre, post Putin graph that doesn't show the run up prior to the invasion. In addition to people being "used to" the current cost.

347 300 I was just glancing around the web for current conditions in Ukraine, and it points out how frustrating and futile it is to try and make sense of what's actually happening there. Russia is retreating, Russia is advancing, the Battle for Kiev is over, the Battle for Kiev is just beginning, who knows? Impossible to find out, you can find "verified" stories to support any narrative you want to push.
Posted by: Tom Servo at April 01, 2022 09:16 AM (evAgx)

Absent a large unnoticed re-deployment the Russian forces near Kiev doesn't have the forces to press the issue, and sooner rather than later would've been the best time over the last month. Al Jazeera has the Ukraine military saying Russian forces near Kiev are retreating, Russia said in talks they'd be retreating those forces a day or two ago, and it makes strategic sense for them to do so.

Now this could be an elaborate deception in advance of a surprise attack but I think it's most likely the Russians are going to focus on the eastern part of the country.

349 You can't stop all possible venues for corruption.

The answer is to limit what the government can do, to reduce the needs to bribe politicians.

That and punish politicians whose corruption is observable. Make tar and feathers great again.

===============
The ruble dropped to half its pre-invasion value and has since recovered to only losing a quarter of its value. So, that's maybe a little bit of an overstatement. Losing a quarter of value as a result of the war is still significant.

But trying to get Germany to buy rubles to pay for NatGas would obviously help a lot, if Russia can pull it off.

"It's important that we do everything we can to help young people become porn literate and identify the pornography that's going to help them grow up as healthy, happy sexual adults."

Which is why porno is restricted to adults. Or, rather, used to be, I guess. Now it's in the curriculum even for young children. This is grotesque. There is a legitimate need, I think, to study pornography and its effects given its availability and the cultural shift toward normalization. Since that shift was driven by these same people, though, that kind of serious psychological and sociological study is not what this is. This is marketing and advancement, not honest and open assessment and consideration of effects and value.

374 The NFP report is the canary in the coal mine. Lowest job growth since September. Wages were up, unexpectedly, but that's largely eliminated by inflation. I also heard one analyst mention this morning that the increase in wages was to maintain employees or offer larger salaries to get them to work. We are only getting back to Trump levels now. The report was a slight miss, but I expect inflation, lower consumer spending and some of the other numbers presage a drop in the job market due to lower corporate earnings and our spiral into a recession. The Fed will hold on it's current rate trajectory, but that's a mistake IMVHO.

Zelensky did not elaborate on what had led to the two officials being dismissed, though he noted that under the Ukrainian army's disciplinary statute officers who "have not decided where their homeland is, who violate the military oath of allegiance to the Ukrainian people as regards the protection of our state, its freedom and independence" would "inevitably be deprived of senior military ranks."

You may recall Russia preparing the invasion for months, assembling forces. If you look at actual cross rates you can see the ruble (previously doing well) started looking shaky as Putin assembled his army, and then dropping through the floor at the actual invasion.

The chart shows the ruble is still down 26%, a big number in foreign exchange.

383 Traditional herbal medicines are based on the use of natural remedies
like Herbs and Roots, no special food no lifestyle change to
permanently cure drug resistance diseases. Patients who use this
methods will definitely testify. Though not all are natural and may
contain heavy elements which the kidney finds difficult to filter and
excrete that is why I recommend Dr. Omola
Two years ago I was permanently cured of oral herpes by Dr Omola
Dr Omola herbs are hundred percent natural, no after effect and is
guaranteed many have testified to this.
