The Morning Rant: Minimalist Edition

punk-monkey.jpg

These are the lackeys of the Iranian mullahs; doing their bidding, using Iranian money and, probably, arms and training. These are the favored freedom fighters of the left on college campuses and NGOs all across America and the West.

Far from being "freedom fighters," they are murderous animals whose blood lust knows no bounds. All they want to do is kill and destroy, and the Biden junta is busy making deals with one of the countries that enthusiastically supports this terrorism.

Rest assured that the funds being released as a result of America's capitulation to the Mad Mullahs will go to fund more of this sort of behavior. Although to be fair to the Pallies, they would do it for free!

Palestinian Fatah Movement Glorifies Bnei Brak Terror Attack

When news of the attack and the identity of the attacker became known, celebrations broke out in the Jenin area and in particular in Ya'abad itself. Processions were held and locals handed out sweets, and a Fatah rally was held near the home of the shooter, who was apparently a member of this movement,[2] at which statements and slogans praising the attack were heard.

In addition, Fatah and its military branch, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade, issued statements and posters glorifying the attack and the shooter. Fatah's local branch in Jenin province, for example, congratulated the "heroic martyr," and spokespeople for Fatah and its military wing promised that the intifada and the martyrdom operations would continue.

Oh joy. Maybe in a few thousand years these medieval sub-humans can join the human race and begin to learn respect for human life. But I 'm not holding my breath.

Unfortunately Israel is plagued by the same lunacy as America...protecting its borders from invasion is apparently too difficult for it government.

'The terrorist could cross the fence & reach Bnei Brak in an hour'

The gaps in the fence they showed media are just a few of the many that exist along the hundreds of kilometers of the barrier. Some of the gaps are even large enough for a person to drive across in a vehicle.

Engelman related that for the last few months, inspections have been taking place along the fence, but he called out the government for its "significant and substantive failures" on the issue. He also highlighted ridiculous quirks in police regulations that only permit an indictment to be served against a Palestinian infiltrator after he has been arrested three times.

Sound familiar?

The weakness of many Western governments in the face of invasion and existential threats to their culture is still amazing and completely foreign to most people. Even Israel is not immune, and they are surrounded by enemies...and not in the rhetorical sense.

There is an insane conceit that if only we could get along with our enemies all would be sunshine and spring flowers and unicorns shitting skittles! And worse, it is our responsibility to modify the relationship. That's just nuts.

I do know what would work on the Israeli border and on the American border: tall concrete and steel fences protected by claymores and auto-firing machine guns and snipers and drones armed with anti-personnel missiles and...

A fella can dream...

If the fight is avoidable, getting along is better than fighting. Keeping them out is also better than fighting. Pretending to get along while actually fighting but not committing to the fighting and thus losing is, however, the worst option.

I watch my carbs and have found cream cheese on Sandwich Thins (plus coffee of course) to be a good, low carb breakfast. But it has been difficult in the Joeconomy to find Sandwich Thins (and cream cheese but that's another story). Often, as yesterday, only Sandwich Thins made from cauliflower rather than flour are available. They suck.

I don't expect any food shortages on American produced product...where we might have some is if other countries horde their stuff b/c they have shortages b/c we aren't exporting...

AKA - Mexico might keep their avocadoes...or Italy might keep its olive oil, etc. But, we're gonna have wheat, corn, potato, soybean, cattle, chicken, pork, etc, b/c we make that...

Although, yeah, b/c of inflationary pressures and overall supply pressures, there will be large price increases on our stuff...even Good Housekeeping was admitting the "8 biggest food inflation" categories in their mag this month...

134 Here's my analysis of Republicans: They *don't* fight because not fighting is what pays. A goodly number of them are just Democrats who found it convenient to and easier to slap an R on front of their name (worse deceivers than actual Democrats, imagine that). The rest are there for the cash.

No need for a deep psychoanalytical dive. This is why much of the country hates them. They can sense they are liars and shysters of the worst order but have no such sense of Democrats because in a very warped way they are more transparent about what they are. They look and act like slobs. This new preening moralism (formerly at home on the Right) is an interesting angle that is changing the electoral calculus.

Us? We're just glad they're not Democrats and squee with delight when they give us a morsel of common sense or patriotism.

Locally I notice grocers have empty cooler shelves, I'm sure it saves on energy. Maybe 1/3 to 1/2 of available space.
Yeah, beers used to be about $1 each (and I griped about that). Now, $2 to $2.50.

Yep, I've only found one cauliflower product that's any good, and that's a pizza by Open Nature that combines cauliflower flour with rice flour for the pizza crust, so that you don't get that overwhelming cauliflower smell/taste when you eat it.

The other cauliflower pizzas I've tried taste too much like cauliflower, and those cauliflower "mashed potatoes" aren't fooling anybody, they taste exactly like mashed up, mooshy cauliflower -- in other words, nasty.

240 Retail inventory is all over the map where I am. I couldn't find a thermometer (for taking human temperature) outside of the expensive temporal type, which they had at Costco. Shoes are plentiful and haven't skyrocketed in price yet. Cable modems are easy to find with plenty of inventory, but the canned soup aisle looks like a desert. Or at least the consequences of AGW. The crux of the matter is how high the temps rise based on a 2x rise in CO2; according to math and science, should get about the same change in temp for every 2x rise, e.g. 250ppm to 500ppm, up x degrees, 500ppm to 1000ppm, up another x degrees. Guess what? We have historical temp data from when CO2 was about half what it is now, and guess what? Max rise MAYBE 1 degree C or so, not 10+C. 1.

322 CBD some of us were dumbstruck years ago, when it took literally years and dozens/hundreds of lives for Israel to finally move to build its security barrier with the West Bank.

And the "laboratory test" couldn't have been cleaner, or more stark. Small country literally under attack for generations, with a history of bold sensible action to protect itself, just sat there and dithered and indulged ridiculous arguments while children were being murdered.

And of course when the barrier was at last put up, such terror attacks dropped to zero. Duh (there are related security measures related to entry, also critical).

Ever since have had to keep this episode in mind to remind me that much of the west is quite literally suicidal in its unseriousness and imbecilic moral narcissism.

Yes, you would be surprised at how many mundane programs and policies were based on blase assumptions, and nobody ever goes back and reviews them until it becomes painfully obvious they can't handle large change. A lot of what I do involves reviewing programs and policies and adding common sense to them, or asking 'what if this happens?'. This is a big issue in the software world, and given that we interact with software many times per day, the entropy will be epic as society breaks down.

What 'us'? Our government is as much the enemy of morons as Putin is, maybe more. I wouldn't ally myself with a Democrat-dominated nation.

Mind you, I'm not exactly happy about this news, but I'm not shocked. India and Russia have been flirting since the Cold War.

Who would you replace Indians with? Thai? Vietnamese? Hot Chech and Romanian chicks? Can it be the latter?

Posted by: Mark Andrew Edwards, RIP Oregon Muse at March 31, 2022 12:17 PM (XvPQV)

402 It's not my job to defend India, and I won't. BUT there was a lot of silly hype about the recent "India buying Russian Oil!" story, which falls apart when you look into what actually took place.

Russia has not been using its tankers for oil shipments since this conflict started; apparently they are worried about either confiscation or defection. They are only shipping oil through existing pipelines, which are limited. (which btw is why I believe that Russia is currently in even worse shape financially than we believe)

When India offered to buy Russian oil, the actual proposal was about building an Asian pipeline which could allow India to start buying Russian Oil 5 years from now. If the pipeline was ever built, which is highly doubtful.

403 >>Tell me- why do we need India at all? Time to bring back all those jobs.

IIRC, most drugs are made in India, using ingredients from China. Recall that Trump had to negotiate with India when they decided to not share any of their HCQ(? one of the covid treatments) as their population's infection rate was flaring up.

405 India has had strategic and generally cooperative ties with Russia (then the USSR) since independence. For lots of their own very good reasons (now mostly devolved to: China). Their significant move towards better ties with the US (under Bush II and Trump) was very welcome, and will survive this episode.

The US under idiot children leadership (today) and the pathetic Europeans have/continue to beclown themselves over Ukraine and Russia, much of the world is declining to join in, and obviously are smart to do so.

I don't think the enlightenment is for everyone ... most people (unlike the horde) just want to be told what to do.

Even with all of that in mind, even ignoring how soul-sucking it is, Diversity Inclusion Equity is a dead end. Sooner rather than later I hope. The Russians who wanted to wait out the madness of 1917 waited seventy years.
