Disney's hold on the Chinese market has been faltering for a few years. The biggest movies in China for the past handful of years have been Chinese in origin. Mulan, for instance, bombed pretty badly (https://tinyurl.com/4rbbcxjd).
Maybe Disney is giving up on the China market and turning back to America. However, in their view the American market isn't traditional America, it's Twitter. So, with China faltering, they're going to cater to Twitter for the next few years to try and bolster themselves.

For some normie parents, this collapse is beginning. There were parents who felt Turning Red had a "dark" feeling to it and it made them have to answer too many uncomfortable questions. So they won't let their kids watch it again. Not a preference cascade yet but a sign.
JustSomeGuy had a good rant about Turning Red. How it's a Mary Sue for the creator and her personal wish fulfillment project. Lassiter would never have allowed this but they canceled him.
The critical drinker has a good vid on how the old Disney films like Mulan have great lessons. The newer films like the live action Mulan cut out all those valuable lessons and are substituting them with good ones. This will be to kids' detriment.

Actually...yeah. People get so wrapped up in nostalgia and idealization that they completely ignore what's actually going on. My folks were terrible about this. The world that they had me believe in and conditioned me for didn't exist in reality. People really need to get their heads out of their asses and see things for what they are, not what they wished they were based on a world that hasn't existed for 60+ years, and probably didn't even really exist then. That's why I find it useful that this stuff is coming out. Its showing those people what the business is really like. I think back when Walt was in charge it was a family friendly, happy place that loved fun. But those days are long passed. The business is composed of largely discrete and severable parts afaik. Idk why it'd be categorized as too big to fail, it's not even really in that part of the finance industry either I believe. Bank and insurance failures are a big deal. Investment management less so.

ok so I have done this for a past Disney trip. it IS much cheaper than staying on property at WDW and the WDW hotels really suck and are small room-wise (and a fortune).
BUT! but - WDW then makes it incredibly difficult for you to simply visit the Magic Kingdom park with your rental car. They are bastages. They ream you on the parking fee and it's a bitch to get to the gates. We ended up only going one day and then being much happier driving to Universal's parks, the water park there, and Sea World. Oh and Legoland! All of the other parks were super easy to visit.

I agree. Sadly tween and teen girls are very susceptible to this sort of faddish body image manipulation. Boys are too, but I think girls more so. Both sexes experience confusion and maybe shame as they go through puberty, with things happening to their bodies (and emotions) that never happened before. But I think it's worse for girls.
I remember mine. I was growing hair and zits in places I never did before, my dick was doing things it never did before, I suddenly needed to wear deodorant, and I began to have strange urges towards the icky yucky girls who up until that point I had avoided my entire life. It was confusing and somewhat scary.
And I was otherwise a normal, well-adjusted, popular "cool kid." I can only imagine how much harder it would have been if I was already insecure or had body issues.

We went to Legoland six or seven years ago and it was fantastic. Sadly they've apparently embraced The Gay, too, but when we went it was during Hey I Like Men Do You Like Men See My Flag Sticker Advertisement Let's Hook Up and Bang Month and there was not a single Gay anything anywhere, which was shocking since the Lego colors really would be easy to use for that crap. My point is that after the NFL went whole hog for activism, they seem to have calmed down to the point where you have to look for the activism. It's not shoved in the audience's faces anymore. Ratings have recovered.
If Disney decides to go, "All gay grooming all the time," that's going to be different from the current state of the NFL, so the NFL's current state isn't going to be all that predictive of how the masses will react to Disney's moves.
