When I was in college, I had an elementary ed student has a roommate. She made poster boards as a mid term project, and fretted that it was "so hard to get the corners right - they take off points if they aren't at a 45 degree angle."
I had briefly thought about going into education, but after hearing that, wanted no part of that kind of nonsense. I was wrong to do that, because it left only those who couldn't really hack studying "hard" subjects to become the educators, and look where that's landed us?

I'd guess the Louisiana teacher is upset that they're not allowed to say "you can grow up to be just like me and you need to start right now.
Kurt Metzger made an observation on a random podcast that one of the biggest issues in transgender communities is "passing" as the other gender, and the dirty little secret is most people never will unless they begin transitioning before puberty.
There's a reason why "ok groomer" has become a catch phrase. These teachers really do believe they must encourage kids to avoid the same "mistake" that they made by waiting.

They might have toned it down for the interview.
I'm a software guy. I've done the Microsoft and Amazon full loop a few times. If they're interested in you, they call you and give you an easy technical screener question. If you pass that, you come in for interviews. It takes at least five hours. Each interviewer asks you a difficult tech question and you have to ask clarifying questions and write code on a whiteboard. If the interviewer notices any weak points, they will tell the next interviewer who will focus on it.
They'll ask you some soft skills questions, but the tech questions are the heart of it. Typically, if you get one or two "no hire" recommendations in your first three hours, you won't go on to hour four and five.
It's grueling.
From what I've heard from teacher friends, once you get to the interview, you're basically hired unless you really mess up. It's more like a 30-60 minute friendly chat to check the box.

My chemistry teacher in HS was a meteorologist in the Navy in WWII. There is a scene in "In Harm's Way" that always makes me laugh; the meteorologist is doing a weather prediction, and the guy playing the part looks A LOT like my HS Chemistry teacher. He retired as a full Commander in the mid 1950's and started teaching at HS and in College.
He was at a lot of A-bomb and H-bomb tests in the South Pacific in the early 1950's. Fun stuff.

The only thing I knew about any of mine was that my 8th grade Latin teacher had been on the 1968 US Olympic weightlifting team. He was an extremely intimidating man who had no reservations about using his size to keep the class in good order and discipline. I can remember him erasing a blackboard by picking up a miscreant and rubbing him against it (don't remember what the kid did). I can also remember him physically dragging me out of class and throwing me against the lockers when he caught me writing on my desk.
Guess what, I never did it again. Very effective.

I am not sure that it is. It is certainly more of a problem than it was, say, 20 years ago. This is to be expected, because public schools are downstream from colleges of education. I do think they crossed the inflection point sometime in the past four or five years and now are going for the brass ring. Are there actually major multiples more of these people now than there were five years ago, or are they just now confident enough to move more boldly? I don't know. It also doesn't matter. They all need to go.

The 'ol man was on subs in WWII and in fact was at Pearl Harbor.
He told me he only had one cruise in the North Atlantic and he hated it becasue of the weather. But overall, as long as the batteries could handle it, they'd submerge for big storms and said it was a pretty good ride most of the time.

Two ironies: if I proposed to teach anywhere in K-12, I'd have to take a year or two of teacher training, this after teaching at the university level for *cough* years.
The second irony is that when I started teaching at the university level (at a very expensive private school), my "training" of being told I was to lecture the following morning at 9 am, handed a piece of chalk, and pointed toward the science lecture theater.
That was it. Figure it out yourself. Which I did.

That very challenge was brought up here and an alleged "brilliant legal mind and analytical voice" went nuts on the matter when it was pointed out that bestiality, polygamy, and pederasty would be next.....

I'll admit that I made the chief detective in one of my mystery novels a gay man. That was for one major reason: to eliminate any hint or possibility of a romance between him and the straight young woman narrator of the story, who works as his assistant. I also could work in a funny gag or two about them being attracted to the same kind of men. All I did, though, was have her conclude that he was gay, so what, and had him mention it in passing as if he knew she'd already realized it. Then, on with the story.

Among child molesters who prey on family members or children in their charge, it's pretty common for the perps to tell their victims "Let's keep this our little secret, ok, Johnny?" That's what jumped out at me - the almost universal demand that the children not tell anyone about the gay pride/ trans pride activities the groomers are leading with these innocent kids who trust their teachers to do them no harm. It's wrong, sick, and in my book, criminal.
