A Virginia Tech swimmer bumped out of the NCAA finals by transgender swimmer Lia Thomas claims her spot was stolen and has publicly blasted the collegiate sports authority for letting the controversial athlete compete in the women's division.
Hungarian-born swimmer Reka Gyorgy penned a letter to the NCAA arguing that although she is convinced Thomas is 'no difference than me or any other D1 swimmer' who was striving to be the best in her field, allowing her to compete is 'disrespectful' to biologically female swimmers.
She wrote: 'I swam the 500 free at NCAA's on March 17th 2022 where I got 17th which means I didn't make it back to the finals and was first alternative. I'm a 5th year senior, I have been top 16 and top 8 before and I know how much of a privilege it is to make finals at a meet this big.

'This is my last college meet ever and I feel frustrated. It feels like that final spot was taken away from me because of the NCAA's decision to let someone who is not a biological female compete. I know you could say I had the opportunity to swim faster and make the top 16, but this situation makes it a bit different and I can't help but be angry or sad.
'It hurts me, my team and the other women in the pol. One spot was taken away from the girl who got 9th in the 500 free and didn't make it back to the A final preventing her from being all American.
'Every event that transgender athletes competed in was one spot away from biological females throughout the meet.'

The Hungarian Olympian spoke kindly of Thomas and her efforts, but lashed the NCAA for putting both of them in what she said was an untenable position.

'The NCAA knew what was coming this past week. They knew opinions and minds will de divided and chose to do nothing,' she slammed.
'This week has been more about reporters, media and division in our sport than things like two women going under 21 seconds in the 50 freestyle, three women going under 50 seconds in the 100 butterfly and the first woman IN HISTORY to go under 48 seconds in the 100 backstroke.
Gyorgy argued that the outcome of Thursday's race was 'not a specific athlete's fault' but instead the 'result of the NCAA and their lack of interest in protecting athletes.'

I don't think other swimmers will join her. She's from Hungary, one of the most #based countries in the world, so she already has some built-in resistance to this bullshit.

In addition, if the worst happens and she's debanked and made unemployable by the left, she can always just go back to Hungary, where the left's ability to coerce others into accepting their religious dogmas is much diminished.

Meanwhile, the leftwing propaganda organ NBC went into truly Orwellian mode to propagandize for "Lia," using filters on Thomas that would make a Instagram model blush, to make him appear more feminine.

I have an application (Portrait Professional) that is a facial recognition program that allows you to smooth skin, open eyes, remove bags, increase radiance and hair sheen, etc., used by a lot of portrait studios. It's actually pretty awesome, but best used in small doses - where it's quite convincing. These weird-ass snapchat filters will take away every blemish, freckle and mole, make your eyes look like anime eyes etc. That's what we have here - it almost looks like a cutout paper mask plopped onto the photo.

I complained to the management and explained how communists break down people's modesty to exert total control over them. I also mentioned that they are setting these young girls up for potential abuse. They all looked at me like I was the crazy one. Haven't spent a cent there ever since, and made sure all the mother's of my daughter's friends knew about the policy so they could avoid that store.

But that's sort of beside the point. Regardless of the quality of the athlete, the rules and requirements have to be dealt with. But that could also have nothing to do with it. Like I said, it was just a guess. It always seemed to me that cheer should be considered an athletic activity rather than just an extracurricular activity.

I used the restroom in a restaurant where if you are in a wheelchair you use the ladies restroom. There is only one stall in there and I walked out and there was some young dude standing there. My observation is that race drivers look very skinny, so there must be something about minimizing the dead weight in the car. Doesn't mean they're muscular specimens, just not fat. The pros will tell you that they're much more accurate with a 9 iron than they are with a 5 iron. The further you can get off the tee, the better chance you have of scoring low on the hole. Closer to the green means closer to the pin in most cases after the 2nd shot.

Had childhood friends who were high level swimmers. Swam for the same swim club as Mark Spitz. The youngest boy broke all of Spitz's Jr. Olympic records. He missed the Olympics because of Carter's boycott. The amount of work and the years of dedication it took was unbelievable. It got bothhim and his younger sister, college degrees which ended with an MD. They were amazing superb athletes.

I miss golf. Right when I was getting so much better I had surgery and haven't played since. My last tournament I played in I shot 100, with 50 putts. And I birdied the second hole. My irons were on fire, just couldn't putt. I only have a 3 and 5 wood and irons and 3 wedges. I could never hit a driver.

The BMI formula I was taught in nursing school 17 years ago is this: base weight for a male is 106 pounds at a height of 5 feet. Add 6 pounds for every inch beyond that. With and plus or minus of 15% for normal range of weight. At 6'5" you should be 208 + or - 15%.

Once I was practicing with two guys who'd just graduated from college, one of whom was a pitcher who could hit the low 90s. We couldn't get on the field, so we went to an adjacent Little League field, where the pitcher threw tennis balls to us (from 45').

Now he wasn't throwing full speed, but let's say he was 75 mph. That's equivalent in reaction time to 100 mph from 60'. The first couple pitches zipped right past me. Then I started fouling off pitches to the offhand side, and gradually dialed it up until I could line drives back up the middle. Of course, then he threw me an off-speed, and I almost hurt myself swinging at it.

I never was able to dial it all the way up to pull the ball, and I'm naturally a pull hitter.

Its not really clear what the hell powers a light saber. They never run out of power, and nothing that the lore says they are built with is a power source.

I thought from the first movie that they had to use the force to power one, that it was generated by personal power, but no, Han picked it up in the second movie and cut a wampum in half or whatever they were called.

I think my idea is cooler and makes more sense. The saber shouldn't do anything at all for a normal person but be a small club.

I didn't finish that thought. I have two UPS units (both APC) and neither of them smell. I don't remember if they did when new or not, but there's nothing in a UPS unit that *should* continue to smell after all the plastics finish outgassing. Unless components literally burn up, of course.

I just finally got a UPS for my computer equipment - essentially a giant battery.

It's giving off a very "computer equipment" smell and has been for its first several days - nothing horrible, just obvious.

Could be ozone or could be battery offgasing depending out what type of battery. You'll want to keep any large battery in a well ventilated area.

There's probably a complex power distribution network, combined with various safeties. The exhaust port might be part of that, where it's not used regularly but is there in the case where they need to vent superheated gasses.

A thing I like about baseball is that it selects for normally-sized guys. A basketball or football team walking through a hotel lobby draws stares. No one pays any attention to a baseball. They're mostly normal-sized guys, maybe just a bit bigger than average.

I met Duke Snider when I was in HS (he was a friend of a guy who ran a semipro team I played on). Just an average-sized guy. About my size, actually. If you've got to run for speed, it's no advantage to be 7 feet tall, or weight 300 lbs. You have to be amazingly good at some aspect of the game to offset that drawback.

Its been a great sport for her. She's had tons of success at an early age, success that doesn't happen later. Now that she's playing college golf, she's beginning to see the kind of dedication that is needed to stay in form and still win. I have seen that the time needed to win tournaments is getting swept aside for more youthful, college pleasures. That's fine. Its life.
