As part of their investigation into Hunter Biden, the Times reports, federal prosecutors have looked into emails between the first son and his former business associates that were recovered from the laptop. Some of the scrutinized correspondence was between Hunter Biden and Devon Archer, who had served with the first son on the board of Ukraine energy company Burisma, the report said. Archer, who was sentenced last month in an unrelated fraud case, has "cooperated completely" with the feds in their probe into Hunter Biden, The Post has reported. ... People familiar with the emails and investigation confirmed their authenticity to the Times.
Tony Bobulinksi, a former business partner of Hunter Biden and "The Big Guy," already confirmed the authenticity of the emails, a week after the laptop was publicized. Bobulinski was an addressee in the email threads and therefore could confirm that the email threads he was part of years ago were the exact same threads on the laptop. But apparently the New York Times thought Bobulinski, a Navy veteran, might be a Russian Disinformation Agent. Or something. They never really wanted to talk about Tony Bobulinski much. They couldn't outright call him a Russian Agent, or they'd get sued, so they just... pretended he didn't exist. The leftwing propaganda media does a lot of pretending these days.

Note that French never once offered any pushback against the various claims of the anonymous RussiaGate hoaxers and Adam Schiff -- he never advocated the non-publication of those claims until they could be "vetted." Quite the opposite. French believed every bit of it and demanded we all take the allegations as true. (Later he lied and claimed he "just supported the investigation" into the allegations he now says he never believed or endorsed.) But when it came to a Democrat, French supported censoring the story until we could properly "vet" it-- you know, vet it for as long as possible. Get us past the election, and then some.

Yup. Now that it is far too late to matter and also too early to matter, they perform a Brave Act of Journalism by confirming what everyone who's not a cucked-out, tucked-under Party apparatchik already knew.
This serves multiple purposes. First, they aren't biased, you see. After all, they will report on negative information. It's right there in black and white. Second, they are brave and committed journalists who tell the truth - no matter how long it takes to confirm. You see, they're just extremely careful and this speaks well to their character and professionalism. Third, regardless of Biden's status in 2024, anyone who brings this up will be bringing up "old news" and thus there is no need to "relitigate the past."

My long-running theory is that they're moving to force Biden out. The 25th Amendment was always a distraction, because there's no way to do it without GOP support. Instead, they're letting this percolate through the media, so that in a week or two somber Dem leaders can call for an "independent investigation" by the DOJ or state AGs. I do. Not at face value, though. I think the computer repair shop story is credible for two reasons:
1. The guy provided receipts and a paper trail. Yes, that could all be forged - but he *did* bother to provide it, which is more than I can say for anyone in the "Sources Say" and Twitter Curator press.
2. I have known rich, poor and not-as-rich-as-they-think drug addicts before. This kind of thing is completely believable. Dropping a laptop full of evidence off for a repair and then going to chase the dragon for a bit, then completely forgetting about it, then failing to pay a small bill to keep your ass out of trouble, is a pretty believable thing. Hard drug addicts, functional or not, do not behave normally most of the time.
So yeah, I think it's credible. Is it the truth? Your guess is as good as mine.
Jonah Goldberg should try using his brain on occasion. Fat chance, I know. Maybe he can go enjoy a hot dog while continuing to ponder over its classification.

I don't think they're taking anyone out. Sure, maybe the Politburo is playing 12-D chess to start forcing out Biden, but I kinda doubt it. This story is (was) a hot potato and this is a great time to come clean. It's a standard press whore move. The progression, approximately, is:
1. Deny any bad behavior by a Party member
2. Attack the credibility of any source indicating the bad behavior
3. Suppress the story as much as possible
4. Wait for a lull (like, say, early in an off-year election cycle and with other events taking up most of the national attention)
5. Publish the disingenuous mea culpa
6. If it ever comes up again, fall back to the "this is old news, it's already been handled, you're an obsessive conspiracy theorist" position to prevent it from getting traction.

They likely won't just lose control of the House but probably the Senate and more governorships without a major overhaul in messaging (forgot policy changes, Jake, it's the Democrats) and something to generate excitement. I think the plan was that Harris would either step in early or quite late but they're desperate. They are also up against the catch-22 that if they wait until 2023 to replace Harris so that she can run in both 2024 and 2028, it means they will likely leave the choice of the VP to the Republicans in the House and Senate.

It's important to keep in mind that Democrats didn't start the 2020 election planning on getting Biden the nomination. Obama tried to talk him out of it. The NYT laid the groundwork for Kamala. The media pushed alternative (Buttigieg) after alternative (Warren) after alternative (Beto) to try and get anyone but Biden, but the media's efforts at creating Good Ole Joe (a pure media creation) for more than a decade had worked too well.
In conjunction with the crazy leftists, Biden was the only one with the name recognition to appeal to the more moderate members of the Democratic electorate in places like South Carolina (combined with last second BTS stuff to help keep Sanders from winning). They went to town cheating in the general with what they had, not what they wanted. They didn't plan on Joe. And Joe has turned out far worse than their worst nightmares.
They're lost, without a leader, and all of their power centers trying to gain what they can while still in positions to make it happen.

I'm still convinced that they never expected Biden to win, and only pulled out all the stops on election night because they saw the House returns and were terrified. It was supposed to be a blue wave, and instead Trump nearly pulled the GOP into the majority. If he'd done so, won reelection, and held onto the Senate it would have been a compete repudiation of the Dems and a vindication of Trumpism as a political philosophy.

I kinda feel like the laptop repair shop "oopsie!" was an unconscious self-outing. Hunter has been put in the family bagman role all his life, while sainted Beau got all the love and respect from daddy Joe. Hunter's behavior has been escalating for years, yet nothing he does can get him out of the family business - not getting kicked out of the Navy, not impregnating a stripper, not even sleeping with his cancerous brother's wife (and her sister and daughter). The laptop should have been the final straw, a way to end the suspense of when the MSM would get around to outing all that Hunter's been up to, for business and on the side.
Seriously messed up family dynamics. Not excusing or pitying Hunter, but it sure looked like on some unconscious level he wanted to get caught to get out from under it. . .

I do think that if it was a suicide (and the evidence points in that direction) that Neila was intending to kill the kids to to keep them away from Jill (and also to punish Joe). Unfortunately, I have to disagree. It is clear in the Constitution that the states have electors vote, the votes are sent to Washington, and they are counted in the open in a joint session of Congress. That joint session isn't there as a decisionmaking body -- it's there in the Constitution for transparency, so that everyone can see how the states' electors voted. The states don't even have to have an election (and didn't, in the early days of the Republic); they just have to have a procedure for selecting electors that is approved by the state legislatures. Not a single state legislature failed to send its electoral votes to Washington, and once the votes were sent to be counted, not a single state legislature tried to recall them. The burden is completely on the states to elect the President, and the states elected Biden. For anyone to try to stop that would have been outside the Constitution.
