Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Biden Announces Ban on Russian Oil, Then Lies and Claims He's Not Stopping US Oil Production (Despite Running On Doing Just That)Gas prices just hit a record -- before this announcement, though the entire Democrat-Media Complex is now claiming that this announcement has reached back in time and retroactively caused Biden's inflation. Breaking911Thanks to AnonysaurusWrecks. President Biden on Tuesday said it is "not true" that his administration is holding back domestic energy production, while warning that the United States' ban of Russian oil imports will "cost" American families, as Russia's invasion of Ukraine continues. Biden on Tuesday warned that gas prices will "go up further" from their current record levels, and he reiterated his support for government spending on renewable energy sources and criticizing the oil and gas industry for not taking full advantage of drilling opportunities in the U.S. Americans are experiencing the highest gas prices since the 2008 financial crisis, with the national gas price average reaching more than $4 per gallon -- the highest average to date, according to AAA. "The decision today is not without cost here at home," Biden warned. "Putin's war is already hurting American families at the gas pump since Putin began his military buildup on Ukrainian borders." "And with this action, it's going to go up further," he continued. "I'm going to do everything I can to minimize Putin's price hike here at home in coordination with our partners."No, he's not. He's not going to end the sanctions on US oil production. ... Defending his administration, Biden said it is "simply not true" that his policies "are holding back domestic energy production." "Even amid the pandemic, companies in the United States pumped more oil during my first year in office than they did during my predecessor's first year," he said. What a very strange, carefully-tailored metric to cite. You mean that when Trump came into office, and was still operating under the rules that you and Obama left him, the US was pumping relatively little oil, then in 2021, operating mostly under the rules Trump left you, you were pumping more oil than Trump did operating under the rules you left Trump. How about comparing your first year to Trump's second, third, and fourth years -- you know, as the US began operating more and more under Trump's rules? Of course you don't want to do that, because US energy production plummeted from Trump's administration to yours -- as planned. As you promised AOC and the "New Green Deal" caucus. The entire plan of the Greens is to artificially cause "energy prices to necessarily skyrocket," as Obama promised long ago, so that the prices of "alternative energy" will look competitive by comparison. And we're in the "causing energy prices to necessarily skyrocket" phase. Biden keeps citing all the places people are allowed to drill, but aren't drilling. Yes, that's because those wells are non-productive. But you won't grant leases to drill in productive wells. You keep citing all these dead wells people are allowed to drill in. Gee thanks so much. Can't wait to spend millions to drill and get the earth to cough up some dust. But when people find a new lake of oil, somewhere it makes sense to drill, and file for drilling rights, you say "No." Meanwhile, the left is in full blame-shifting mode: Replying to Rubio, this... "journalist:" That's a "journalist," by the way, not an out-and-open Democrat operative. Kind of hard to tell the difference, isn't it? Via John Sexton, she also argues that Republicans should not "seize" on Brandon's surging gas-price troubles. Including, apparently, the surging gas prices that occurred over the past year. If Republicans truly believe our patriotic duty is to orchestrate a Western embargo of Russian energy, they should commit, today, to not politically exploiting the economic pain such sanctions will inevitably cause American consumers.Sexton comments: What Rampell and Sargent are arguing, in so many words, is that the GOP should help Biden sell this, or at least not make it harder for him to do that. That’s a nice thought but it's not likely to happen. Republicans know it certainly wouldn’t happen if the roles were reversed in this little drama. After the past four years, Democrats are really in no position to ask Republicans to take it easy on the president because he's engaged in foreign policy with Russia. That's just not how Democrats have been playing the game.It also, it should be noted, wasn't Trump who encouraged Ukraine to get out on a very parlous limb with Russia, thereby setting this entire calamity in motion. That was the neoliberals, assisted, as usual, by their neocon Renfields. And the claim that announcing that America was back in the energy production game wouldn't reduce prices is wrong. Of course, prices would start to fall on a signal that future supplies are increasing... AGOf course it's "intentionally deceptive" -- it's from a "journalist." Everything they say is intentionally deceptive. They're liars and propagandists by trade. They have no other skill or function. Plus: How does she know how long this will go on for? One analyst said his belief was that this would turn into an Afghan-style quagmire for Russia that could go on for years and years.

My basic comment from last thread.
Something is not really adding up for me. By any sane logic, the Dems would (should) be obliterated next election and the one after that. The damage done to the American pocketbook since Biden was elected is astronomical. And yet, there is zero attempt to right the ship. They are going full steam ahead. I just don't get it. Even communists intent on destruction want to win the next election. Maybe they just want to destroy as much as possible while they can and are deciding that they will then live to fight another day. Posted by: SH (Overturn Roe) at March 08, 2022 05:23 PM (sX1BW) A couple thoughts: 1) The Dems are trapped by the power of their base, who are full-on global warming cultists, and often urban libs who won't see the impact in the same way as blue-collar voters. This is one of the drawbacks of abandoning blue-collar white voters as your party rank-and-file. 2) Many in the admin no doubt see this as an opportunity to push through their BBB and Green New Deal programs under the guise of fighting rising energy prices. It obviously won't work, but they're gambling that they can get something through. 3) The Dems may have already decided that losing Congress is worth it to cause pain now, hoping that two years of government gridlock will prevent any repeal, that the GOP won't be willing to shut down the government in order to undo any of Biden's moves, and that by 2024 the voters will have come around to accepting this all as the new normal. The fact these people aren't being pelted with garbage as we chase them down the street to a good flogging is absolutely amazing.
We're being condescended to by people who think we're going to get rid of fossil fuels and then drive around in an electric car that is mostly plastic and synthetic materials. And that's on top of the fact that practically every line and angle of our current civilization is probably 75% or better made from petroleum based products. "Good news, kids! The new iPhone is here. I have brought this up in the past, but a good metric for how much energy a product uses to manufacture is.... cost. To a first order, for similar class products, excluding luxury brands,

As has been noted, Steven Den Beste wrote the definitive articles on the fantasy that is, so called, "alternative energy," almost twenty years ago.
Alternative energy is a straight up bullshit, marxist nonsense. It's inefficient, it's unreliable, it doesn't scale. The US uses PetaWatts of energy already, and with the push for EV, we'll need PetaWatts more. As a data point, the largest solar farm produces anywhere from 300 - 500 MW. Virtually every square inch of unused space in this country would have to be taken up with Solar Panels. Wind is a non-starter. It's f**king ridiculous that this shit is even up for debate or consideration. Posted by: Thomas Bender at March 08, 2022 05:51 PM (H2lev) 170

Not only that, while in the US natural gas is only loosely correlated to crude oil, a rise in crude prices means that gas demand does increase where consumers (mostly commercial and industrial) can switch from heating oil to natural gas. So when the price of natural gas goes up, so does the price of electricity. You know, like what you use to recharge your Tesla. My read on the Marxist Uniparty's plan to ram through the lunatic utopian (and in the end totalitarian) green energy plan is predicated on massive subsidies for its infrastructure and EV vehicles while artificially driving up the cost of fossil fuels by restricting extraction and permits until their price exceeds the green energy subsidized prices. It should be noted that this subsided price is at best 1/4 of the actual cost. This process began in earnest when Biden took office, and the Ukraine war was the excuse needed to accelerate this goal while waving the virtue flags. Soon enough, if this trend continues, you can be assured anyone opposed to this development will be subject to a propaganda war that will drive anyone opposed into the ground. This entire energy crisis is manufactured according to a desire, possibly a plan, to destroy the USA constitutional republic and replace it with a uniquely American Marxist-Fascist hybrid government and society. You can also rest assured when this plan fails to bring the Green New dealers utopia, they will blame the public as reactionary or wreckers in 1930s Soviet parlance. It is then when utopia will begin good and hard.

I just can't make sense of this whole situation. Putin isn't going to nuke anyone. He is an old KGB agent and you don't get to be an old KGB agent by being reckless. I think he had bad Intel, thinking the Ukraine people would just roll over, but he has the advantage. He doesn't care about public or world opinion either. He supplies oil to most of Europe, they aren't going to do anything significant. He will bomb them until they submit. My feeling is Biden has made some kind of deal with Putin to get oil prices up. Putin is then rolling in money, enough to rebuild Ukraine. We are paying over $10 a gallon, slowing domestic auto traffic. Roll in the Green New Deal, we aren't beholden to Russia for energy.

Russia has stated clearly that any Ukrainian use of foreign territory for these purpose will be considered an act of war by that foreign country. That is, if Poland were to let Uke pilots come in and fly the planes back to Ukraine, that would be an act of war by Poland in Russia's eyes. Brandon will follow the 3rd world banana republic socialist playbook to the letter. Demonize them as price gougers, impose price controls, then blame the resulting shortages on hoarders. Posted by: publius
--- The FJB government is essentially a hostile takeover of the country by the Green New Deal / Climate Change religious cult which governs not for the benefit of the citizens but the benefit and expansion of their religious ideology. The purity of the religion must be protected at all costs and an essential element of this is rooting out the heretics. A proof point of this would be to ask the 1930 Ukrainians, if you could travel back in time. But that would still fail because Stalin killed millions of them for being hoarders and wreckers. 6. Why are Democrats not trying to change course?
I think it's because Biden is not in charge, it's a committee of leftists. With Obama, at least Obama wanted to win a second term, and was smart enough to realize that he had to make compromises. Biden was never as smart as Obama, and at this point, he's not in control at all. So there is no person, not even Klain, who can put their foot down and make the difficult decisions that are needed to win in the long term. Posted by: Dave at March 08, 2022 06:38 PM (mXUCw) 428

My dad's dad explained to me that he wanted us to reflect on the joys we had had with him when he left, and laugh if able.
I did, my dad spent an afternoon rage crying at his headstone. Life and death are hard to figure. Posted by: sven These are hard times for a real patriot, someone who genuinely and deeply loves this country, and what we think it stands for. It is the time for all good men and women to try and stand up against the spreading gloom that hovers over the world. Jesus loves you Sven, and I am not trying to write a cliche'. Even if you are alone (and I know you are not) ,there are still things worth living for. If you can, try and find a book by Viktor Frankl, "Man's Search for Meaning" and read it. It is not a religious book, but a direction in finding meaning in your life. Not all is lost. Depression is a terrible thing to ride on your shoulders. I lost someone very dear to me to suicide over depression many years ago, too. Don't let this eat you up. Posted by: Bozo Conservative.....nic at night at March 08, 2022 06:43 PM (vcOmj) 433
One common trait that all of the Global Elites Who Wish To Rule The World have always had in common is staggering incompetence.
World War I was one of the earlier examples. You are just seeing another example. It is almost axiomatic now. If a group of elites tries to enact their policies for "heaven on earth", it will turn to shit. It's not going to go on for years. The Russians already have enough logistical problems, keeping the war going for months just isn't possible at the present operational tempo. They don't have the supplies for it. They need a face-saving way to declare victory and go home. Zelensky knows that, and based on his comment today about having "cooled" on joining NATO, he's going to try to give them that pretend win.
It could be over in another week, with Russia proudly announcing that it has cleansed Ukraine of Nazis and stood up to the bullying West, and everybody knowing what really happened: the Ukrainians kicked Russian ass, Ukraine isn't officially in NATO but will be turbocharged with NATO equipment, training, and money, official NATO is re-invigorated and re-arming, and Putin committed the biggest, most counterproductive geopolitical blunder in centuries. I dream of firing them all, confiscating their pensions, cancelling their perks, just like they do through inflation and causing oil prices to go through the roof strangling the American people that pay the taxes that pay for all the above WASTE. If we cut government employees by 80% most of the working Americans would never miss them. We would enjoy the raise in pay and productivity resulting from firing them. F them. -Eliminate the EPA. -Control the influence of the BLM and Energy. -Stop the Federal government for restricting the construction of energy projects including nuclear facilities. -Allow production on properties that are leashed.
