Two Polls Show Brandon Got No Bounce From His Slurring, Incoherent State of the Union

On Friday, a very unlikely poll found that Biden had gained eight points in approval, Egg with Legs Chris Cillizza to wet himself in excitement:

"m" points out that Joe's nose looks absolutely rekt in that photo.

A new NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist poll suggests that all might be changing. Biden's overall job approval rating among Americans is at 47% in the survey, up 8 points from where he was in the same poll last month.

I didn't mention that because I try not to post bad news late on Friday and also because that poll had the stink of nonsense.

I mean: Eight points? Are you joking?!

Two other polls have now come out which say that poll was, in fact, joking. It was a fluke outlier.

An IBD/TIPP poll finds Biden gained a single point of approval, going from a low of 38% to 39%, owing solely to a gain among Democrats.

An IBD/TIPP poll conducted after the speech on March 1 found that, overall, 39 percent of respondents approve of the job he is doing as president, compared to 47 percent who disapprove.
This is a slight improvement from the 38 percent approval in February's IBD/TIPP poll--the lowest figure since Biden took office.

According to the IBD/TIPP poll for March, 74 percent of Democratic voters approve of the president's performance, with 15 percent expressing disapproval.
This is an improvement of 8 percentage points since February, when 66 percent of Democrats approved of Biden.

His approval from independents remains stuck at a woeful 27%. Though his disapproval from independents fell from 55% to 53%, if Brandon wants to hang his hat on that. (Note that the more you slice up a sample, the less likely these numbers are to be meaningful or accurate.)

The Quinippiac poll also finds Brandon stuck in a quagmire called Alzheimer's.

For his overall job approval, Americans give Biden a negative 38 - 51 percent job approval rating with 11 percent not offering an opinion. This compares to a negative 37 - 52 percent job approval rating a week ago.

rhenningantx points out this same poll points out:

As the world witnesses what is happening to Ukraine, Americans were asked what they would do if they were in the same position as Ukrainians are now: stay and fight or leave the country? A majority (55 percent) say they would stay and fight, while 38 percent say they would leave the country. Republicans say 68 - 25 percent and independents say 57 - 36 percent they would stay and fight, while Democrats say 52 - 40 percent they would leave the country.

So you know how much all those Ukranian flags in twitter profiles mean.

Gee wonder what the partisan breakdown of that would be.

That tends to decrease oil prices but that increase is so small that it will probably be lost in the noise. Commodities usually cool down as interest rates go up. But, it can get weird as the last stagflation in the 70's occurred. You had high interest rates AND high prices on oil. That led to a very deep 1982 recession.

I'll hope so, but it strikes me that even if we got involved in Ukraine, defeated Russia, liberated Ukraine, took no loss of life, spent less than $10 billion doing it and other such impossibilities, the numbers wouldn't improve for more than a week or two if gas and inflation stay where they are.

Big companies and big investors have access to hedging financial strategies which us peons don't. BTW, watch for those big company affiliated gas stations offering cheaper gas prices than the usually cheaper indies. Reason is contracts requiring fuel buys from those stations usually limit upside of prices while the indies buy from the spot market. Airlines are another big user of hedging fuel prices with other financial instruments.

The new BLM rules require each drilling be approved separately.
So if you need to drop in 3 or 4 wells to see what is in the ground each is its own application now.

PS I read it also been over 30 days since BLM has approved any drilling.

419 a quick computer question. My 2 year old HP died, right out of warranty. (had to go back to 13 year old Compaq) got a new one, but all web pages, the text is basically in the middle (like here, there are 3 inch white borders on each side) or to the left like on lucianne.com
I must have fixed this issue somehow 2 years ago, but now, any zooming, either on firefox, or thru windows doesn't work, nor font adjustments. I looked at add-ons, didn't see anything that helps, any suggestions?

The new BLM rules require each drilling be approved separately.
So if you need to drop in 3 or 4 wells to see what is in the ground each is its own application now.
PS I read it also been over 30 days since BLM has approved any drilling.

If I understand it correctly, each lease is just that...a lease on the opportunity to search for oil. It does not mean there are 9,000 new wells out there. Maybe, after hundreds of thousands of dollars are spent and a year or two goes buy, one lease in ten will result in a pump being put in.

Loss leader plus McDonalds is large enough to hedge on beef prices and does have intl reach on buying it frozen. Beef prices have always been more volatile than chicken or pork because the latter two are more or less raised in confinement. Free range and all that other products though are going to be blow up pricewise.

Last company I worked for, I started right as it was getting comparatively big, moving from spunky startup to trying to grow responsibly. A month before I started working, the CEO swam across a lake (that might have had alligators in it, no one was sure) to celebrate a revenue goal.

By the time I left, it had been pretty thoroughly corporatized after its IPO. The efforts at loyalty were all but gone, but I suspect that the board had been trying to sell the company to a new majority stockholder for at least four or five years.

The basic design is decades old. However, there have been modernisation programs for the plane. And that's really what determines how good a particular MiG-29 is. A comparison would be the modernisation programs that have produced the F-16V and the F-15X, both of which are far superior to the original designs for each plane.

I don't think the latest MiG-29s are *that* good. But Russia hasn't started mass-producing a replacement for it yet.

A comparison would be the modernisation programs that have produced the F-16V and the F-15X, both of which are far superior to the original designs for each plane.

I don't think the latest MiG-29s are *that* good. But Russia hasn't started mass-producing a replacement for it yet.

If I were defending the guy, I would argue that he didn't have the intent to use the gun unlawfully, which is an element of the offense. Most likely, he brought the gun with him to use for self defense, which is not unlawful. However, we don't know what statements he made to cops. Given what we know about how these Jan. 6 defendants have been treated, it is entirely possible that cops tricked him into making some incriminating statements before providing him with an opportunity to consult counsel.

If I were defending the guy, I would argue that he didn't have the intent to use the gun unlawfully, which is an element of the offense. Most likely, he brought the gun with him to use for self defense, which is not unlawful. However, we don't know what statements he made to cops. Given what we know about how these Jan. 6 defendants have been treated, it is entirely possible that cops tricked him into making some incriminating statements before providing him with an opportunity to consult counsel.
