Joni Mitchell needs to hop in her big yellow taxi and drive over to Neil Youngs place. She is so last century it's amazing *I* even recognize her and I had some of her albums.
Maybe she and Neal can do a collaboration on something, just not sure what. PS ... Good Morning Pixy! Posted by: Gmac - WTF did you think was going to happen? at January 29, 2022 04:12 AM (qZdIZ) 3

Joni loves Chachi. I can see a lot of "never have beens" joining in. People were pissed when Rogan left YT. For Spotify. These Lefties will not quit, they are not trying to win a debate I can see Spotify quitting and Rogan going somewhere else. But we have not crossed that bridge yet.

Joni's fanbase, I'm pretty sure, does not listen to her over Spotify. This is all virtue signaling.

Never cared for Joni Mitchell's music.
NY's Heart of Gold was popular when I was in grade school, and I liked it then. I have a couple of CDs of his stuff, but mainly think he's kinda whine-y. Spotify? Whaazzat? Posted by: Quint at January 29, 2022 04:17 AM (slg0w) "Spotify struck a $100 million deal with Rogan in 2020 to gain exclusive rights to his show The Joe Rogan Experience" (clipped from some random online site) I presume that Rogan got the contract written in such a way that he gets every single dollar of that no matter what Spotify does. I like Neil as a musician, and Joni too. If you play (acoustic) guitar it would be pretty tough not to.
Here's Joni playing "For Free", a tune she wrote about a street musician in NYC. It is an amazing melody. https://youtu.be/2bSgoNNQ0m8 Maybe she'll leave that one up on Spotify. You know. "For Free". I have a lowtech tech question:
I'm on a MacBook Air mid 2011 macOS Sierra Safari v 12.1.2 (I also have Chrome, but not as my default) I get lots of spinning beachballs (fewer in Chrome). Is this a RAM problem? Is there something a lowtech person (me) can do to make this all better? Thanks. Posted by: m at January 29, 2022 06:50 AM (t9+T7) 63

"In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king."
-Erasmus I was looking at graphics cards last week, and I'm gonna go against the grain by suggesting that the 6500XT is actually a pretty good GPU. Yeah, sure, its performance sucks and the pricing is bad even in the age of fun-flation, but unlike every other card out there it's crappy enough that you can actually buy it for close to MSRP. And from an actual retailer, too; not a scalper or a shady Ebay dealer unloading worn-out mining equipment. And I find all the "but for that price you could buy a 1650 Super or whatever" comments on various sites rather tedious, as they don't seem to understand that One Does Not Simply Buy Stuff In 2022. So it's not gonna provide any kind of spectacular performance, but at least people whose late 2010s card is about to crap out have a roughly equivalent replacement option. It's too bad about the horribly gimped bandwidth because aside from that it would actually probably be pretty good. But then I suppose we would all just be lamenting that the retail channel only lasted about 15 minutes.
