The Useful Idiots Are Always...ALWAYS...Expendable

Three Killed, Including Safe Streets Worker, In East Baltimore Quadruple Shooting

The sad thing about the current insanity of "Defund The Police" sweeping America is that there are actually people who believe that it is a good idea, that humanity is inherently good and perfectable, and that a kind word and six hours of de-escalation training is sufficient to create the socialist utopia that we all so desperately want and need.

Well, one of them is dead, thanks to a careful, well-planned program to destroy the rule of law in Baltimore. It was hanging on by a thread, so it didn't need much to collapse entirely!

The city's Safe Streets program aims to reduce gun violence and homicides using "violence interrupters." Members are trained in conflict mediation, counseling and mentorship.
Didn't work so well, did it. It's almost as if there are bad people in the world who are intent upon taking what they want and doing what they want, and the only way to stop them is with force.

Who knew!

"Safe Street workers mediate the very types of conflicts we saw tonight," Baltimore Police Commissioner Michael Harrison said. "All the Safe Streets workers are to be applauded for their work in reducing gun violence and promoting a message of redemption and peace to the many young people of our city."
I'll bet he knows exactly what will ease crime in Charm City, and his blather is simply cover for this latest experiment in failure theater. The real purpose of defunding the police and replacing them with the useful idiots of the soft left is to destabilize society, create an untenable situation in the inner cities so that SOMETHING MUST BE DONE!

Yeah...it's a dead horse but let's beat it anyway...this is pure Antonio Gramsci, perhaps the greatest communist thinker in history. His analysis of "capitalist" society showed the committed socialists of the world how to destabilize it...break down civil society; create class and race distinctions as a result, and presto...

BLM, Antifa, "Defund The Police," Soros puppets in many powerful legal positions across American cities yields the breakdown of the rule of law and a widening schism between suburban/exurban/rural America and the increasingly feral inner cities.

But to what end? You name it, they will try it. Federalizing police to remove the last vestiges of Federalism. National Guard troops in the worst cities to increase the disconnect between them and a civil society and of course increase the tension even more.

Destroy society and then rebuild it any way you want. Unfortunately that includes and a comprehensive police state to ensure that we comply, and gulags for those of us who don't.

21 Predictably, NYC's new mayor is calling for stricter gun law in NYC after a cop is killed and another severely wounded responding to a mother-son domestic dispute.

No mention of mom failing to mention on her 911 call that son was a nut with an illegal Glock. It's as if the cops were set-up.

I expect that SCOTUS will knock out NYC's hyper-strict gun law (only celebrities need apply). I live in the South Bronx. Can't wait to get a Glock. Classic 17?

45 I believe that there's a lot of people that know some people are bad but they believe that it's THE POLICE and/or the neighborhood and WHITE SUPREMACY and RACISM that are making them bad.
And if we just stop treating them badly (even tho they've done bad things) that they'll stop doing bad things and do good things).
They are what we call Stupid Assholes. I have mixed emotions when one of them (particularly a white princess who's never had a bad thing happen to her in her life) rubs up against one the stone evil bastards and gets either hurt badly or dead.

And in a way you want to go "believe stupid things; win stupid prizes" but that is some family pretty lil girl who are now in a lot of pain (altho because of her beliefs she may have brought this all on her self. At the least her pals in thoughts marches have brought this about.)

Sorry. I'm sexist cause when the man bun cute white guy gets axed I laugh and laugh and laugh. Cause I've lived in stone ass evil peoples neighborhoods and it's easy to stay alive. 55 "The real purpose of defunding the police and replacing them with the useful idiots of the soft left is to destabilize society[...]"

The main goal is to Nationalize policing. The "defund" movement, like the "social justice" one, is the rhetorical stalking horse for the perpetuation of the Left's centralizing goals.

The way it works is, FIRST discredit local governing subsidiaries in every sector, policing, education, infrastructure maintenance - the whole caboose, THEN erect uber-structures that pretend to fill the old structures' shoes.

(This is where the Left's frail artifices clash with traditional, foundational parliaments in the Anglo Saxon world. Their abuse of media to massage this impasse is paying ever-diminishing returns.)

To the degree that COVID has discredited our Federal Government bureaucracies, it deliberately plays into the hands of those who want to supplant our elected Republic with the centralized, post-national UN. This is because, in the wake of their own vandalism, they can superimpose their favored strong-man afterwards as the 'only adult in the room.'

82 I think there was a model where police rarely had to use lethal force to maintain order 70 to 80 years ago. It did however rely on using the full force of the law to catch any perp who harmed a LEO and the DA would then push for maximum penalty. Thus it was in thugs' best interests to not shoot in the direction of LEOs.

Now the FNM arm of the communist party airs story after story about "excessive police force", "biased policing" etc. With brief pauses and stories lauding "heroic officer who put his/her life on the line to keep our city safe" when they've managed to get a member of the mob they whip up to actually kill a LEO.

The commies were very damn successful in infiltrating higher education and especially in creating "journalism departments" where they indoctrinate the people that will be hired to narrate new stories to the communist vision.

Posted by: klaftern at January 23, 2022 12:16 PM (taPSh)

No windows unless you are rich. Glass was expensive. And shitty.

Windows had wood shutters or a leather or cloth to keep out the wind and things. Or you just did without. Some houses had NO windows. Maybe a small one up high to let out the smoke cause there weren't chimneys either. (once again; rich people had them poor who lived in huge apartment buildings did not. They cooked on a stone or iron something or other and did it near a window.

Or used communal cooking facilities or just ate at the corner stew pot.

91 Defund efforts, whether it be for the cops or whomever, is an offshoot of the "cancel culture." Cancel, or do away with something or someone you dislike. It really caught on with the BLM movement, for obvious reasons.

Remember a couple weeks ago a pair of congresswomen were carjacked? One of them, a white woman, recently said she still wants to go down the "police reform/defunding" path as she feels people of color are unjustly harassed by the cops.

She'd be a perfect "Safe Street Worker."

105 There is a move in places like Berkeley to have unarmed non-cops do traffic stops, since cops are icky and profile and stuff. (It would a require a change in California state law, but look at the legislature.)

Predictably, this program will continue until the first unarmed "traffic advisor" gets blown away making a traffic stop by a criminal who knows that the "traffic advisor" is unarmed. It won't take long.

The Portland cops have abolished the Traffic Division devoted to traffic enforcement, and a cop who wishes to make a traffic stop has to get permission from a supervisor, since cops are icky and profile and stuff. (The cops are also prohibited from chasing people who refuse to pull over.)

Remarkably, people have figured out that there is now no traffic enforcement in Portland, and many people now go 60+ mph on arterial streets, frequently running over pedestrians. But at least the cops aren't profiling anymore.

In honor of this thread and in other attempts to define what sort of -cracy we are stuck in, I submit this:

I'm coining a brand new word that at present defines the last two years of governance: "ekphobiocracy ", ekphobio comes from the Greek. Phobia, we know as its root in "flight" as in a fear that causes one to run. ek- is a modifier that transforms phobia into "extreme fear". -cracy is the usual governing philosophy. Thus ekphobiocracy is Governance from and by a terrified mob. The "leaders" (outside from the Davos elite) operate out of fear. Fear of being out of step, cowardice, fear of the unknown, fear of being canceled, fear of mortality, fear of being impoverished or made ill. The people, likewise. Ruled by extreme fear.

114 And yes; defunding the police and letting the criminals out on no or easy bail contributes to more crime and thus chaos on the streets.

Chaos on the streets alarms the citizens who have to take up arms themselves and/or complain to the Gov/Reps/ Mayor about the crime and the left can then respond with martial law.

And having martial law lets in all sorts of stuff and it forces out all sorts of freedoms and thus there's the opportunity for stronger government, harsher punishments, more opportunity to arrest innocent citizens. And brings on Tyranny.

The progression is always to tyranny.

120 frequently running over pedestrians

Most of the people being run over in Portland are poor and minority, since poor and minority neighborhoods have more people who now ignore traffic laws, and since the old parts of Portland have gentrified, the poor live in newer neighborhoods with wider streets.

The Left has a solution - crippling the carrying capacity of roads in the poorer neighborhoods to make it harder to drive fast, since it would obviously be racist to allow the cops to enforce the traffic laws again.

Of course, this is going to make it a lot more difficult for the residents of these neighborhoods to get to work, but that isn't a concern among The People Who Matter.

124 Part of the civility that is gone is that we used to know all our neighbors.

These days there are too many people and also no one bothers.

This first happens in cities. So many people who live there but they are strangers cause there is so many people. the more strangers the more one is used to strangers being about. This lends a cover for any criminals. Most criminals will not commit crime too close to home. (some do and they are what's called Stupid Criminals)

They do tend to stay in their ethnic neighborhood cause other wise they stand out elsewhere and people get suspicious.

Civility also comes by having the punishment meted out rapidly. Sometimes right at the scene and by the cop on the beat. This releives the court of the petty thief and shop lifter. Bam Bam goes the hickory stick. If you get caught and punished you may not do it again. (at least not there anyway)

But Chicago was a gang town going back to the 30s with the Irish and Italian gangs, then the south side with the Black gangs (I used to know the names but I don't live there no mo so I don care) and now the suburbs is all gangs too. Goes from the Indiana border all the way along the lake coast to Wisconsin. With some places where the cops will beat your ass if you don't live there. Oh and the gangs OWN the NW corner of Indiana. The problem with "one strike and you're dead" laws is that if you're about to be arrested, then obviously your only play is to shoot the cops and any witnesses. And once a country gets to that mode, then you have to go straight to a strict military dictatorship with fortified machine gun posts on every street corner.

154 If we can't even discuss or describe the problem, it will never get repaired.

It is true, that the Cops in general aren't really setup to be mental health professionals. That isn't their job, and it is completely unworkable to expect them to be. By necessity some of them probably get good at it, but that's probably not the way to bet?

But giving shrinks guns - now you're talking Crazy Town. And if you think it's bad now, you Ain't Seen Nothin' Yet. Because that's what "liberalism" is - Replacing What Works, With What Sounds Good. Thomas Sowell done told ya already. And he ain't wrong.

156 Like everything else, when the people who are pushing for this crap are inconvenienced themselves, or are the receiving end of the crime they may change their tune. As I said upthread, the congresswoman who got carjacked a couple weeks ago still thinks police reform/defunding is the answer. It makes you wonder if people like that will ever change their minds about how to deal with crime and violence. Or does it take something more "personal" for them to see the light?

157 105 There is a move in places like Berkeley to have unarmed non-cops do traffic stops, since cops are icky and profile and stuff.

***

He's on the right track I think. American exceptionalism is/was based on a central set of commonly accepted behaviors and norms. The vast majority understood right and wrong. And those who did wrong, and were caught, were punished.
We don't have that today. That central ethic is missing. Now it's everyone for themselves, especially in built up areas.

Not enough cops in Portland to do traffic enforcement.

I discovered that my suburban town outside of Portland collects an average of $20 a year in traffic fines per resident, which seems uncomfortably high. The police chief did note that three-quarters of the fines came from non-residents.

It's possible that the residents are aware that the traffic laws are actively enforced here, unlike non-residents. We don't have people getting run over, either.

So eventually it reaches the quiet neighborhoods and because there is low crime there are fewer cops and so criminals go wild as there's no cops around patrolling.

On the other hand more people are carrying firearms so they might just act as a pro tempore Sheriff and plug their azzes.

The problem in Colorado, they give you two months to get your plates, after you buy a new vehicle. However, the state is at least three months behind in processing new vehicle title paperwork.

So... ours is now about two weeks past the expiration date. We finally got our paperwork, and have sent it in. There's a little blurb on it that says "local cops can still ticket you for not having plates, even if it wasn't your fault." Or something like that.

I don't see the point of blaming the populace for not wanting to obey the state that can't create a system that does NOT allow one to obey them properly.

Which is why we need to not worship the cops but acknowledge while they have an important job, you are still giving a great deal of power to deeply flawed people. They don't turn angelic once the badge is assigned and the blue clothes are put on. And police unions need to go. And cops need to be buttressed with a heavily armed law-abiding populace, because even if all cops were angels, they still work for Police Chief Sir Isaac Newton. Or Einstein perhaps?

222 Another hot trend in Portland is driving without plates. Since there is no traffic enforcement, why bother?

That is one way to defeat ALPR tracking. Tracking plates once was the number one way to deal with drug trafficking.

I guess that has been replaced with tracking phones, but that is easily defeated too.

So that leaves LEO having only two real jobs: being the violent force behind city policy, and physical protection of the ruling class.

So why do we pay for this?

Strictly speaking, repeal would have reverted to what it was before, actual investigation and prosecution rather than the new fangled tolerance. But the way it was 'tlrepealed' was to go in the opposite direction and support not just merely gay but more extreme degeneration.

Therefore 'repeal' of 'defund the police' would be treated as a popular call for an overt total police state.

315 The push to defund police only happens in largely unarmed locations. Blue cities. In red areas the armed areas police are seen as a necessity for a reason. Armed citizens are more numerous than the police. I'd say my neighborhood is as well armed as our local police if not better armed. We don't ever see patrols here they aren't needed. Also our murder rate is nonexistent. We don't want to defund our police they live here and they do a job that needs to be done.Note... I live in a blue state but red area. I dont go into the City unless absolutely necessary.

And lost in the conversation will be that possession of the gun itself was illegal, as was the murder. I've got $1000 that says the POS was a felon who wasn't legally allowed to own a firearm, too.

Nothing about the magazine needs to be in the discussion, but it will be what is used to ban them for people in Arkansas who like to spend their time efficiently at the range.
