18 Morning, everyone! I see the tribute thread to Oregon Muse and other absent friends of the HQ ran on to the wee hours and grew to 1035 comments. I'd have stayed longer, but I'd gotten up very early for work and was nodding off over the keyboard. Howz da weather where you are? Temp here is right at freezing, the coldest we've seen in nearly a year.

Chekov the Ailing Codger Cat ate all of his dinner plus nerve pain pill last night, and is dozing on the floor near me. Perhaps I'll wait just a little longer to feed him, so he'll eat his breakfast.

Happens to me a lot. Now I try to force myself to stay up later on Friday and Saturday so I can sleep later, and on Sunday I push it a little too. Well, on Sat. and Sun. there's nap time to look forward to. I've napped in the afternoon nearly all my adult life when I could manage it. In 2020 when I worked from home I squeezed in a quick nap from 12 to 2 or so nearly every day, and nobody was the wiser.

"Are they censoring terrorists or pedophiles? Criminals who have Twitter profiles? No, they're censoring people, and they're shadow-banning people who have dissenting opinions about vaccines. Why is that? Is that because Pfizer cleared $33 billion last year and Big Pharma has more lobbyists in Washington than senators and representatives combined? Why is the reason?

That's just a snip, the whole thing is masterful. He even takes a poke at Biden's 81 million votes.

23 Oh, and last night, since I don't drink, I promised I would pack a favorite pipe with a favorite tobacco and smoke it in OM's memory. I've set out a little Sir Walter Raleigh on a saucer to dry -- it burns even more easily when it dries for half an hour -- and chosen my oldest pipe, a bent Peterson from the '80s that I refer to as my Sherlock Holmes pipe. Appropriate, I think, to honor the Book Thread man!

I don't know any pot smokers who have gotten it. But then, I don't know any pot smokers in real life.

Since it's virtually impossible, due to government regulations, for legitimate labs to use marijuana for any sort of tests, we'll probably never know. But both CBD and Hemp oil are 100% legal for testing and they've both been proven effective.

Yup. Site of a real life "broken arrow" event. 1968, B-52 went down on an ice sheet with live nukes. The jet fuel that caught fire detonated the non-nuclear explosives in the weapons causing massive radioactive debris to be scattered in the area. Took years IIRC to clean up.

The cold-pressed Hemp Oil we purchased is food grade. I put it on crackers, the wife on a salad. You could probably mix some of that in with his food. It's pretty nondescript taste wise, but very high in calories - about 120 per tablespoon.

But I'm not a vet, so kinda uncharted waters.

I saw the school's rationalization for that garbage: we just wanted to encourage the kids to have a discussion about the author's perspective. What b.s.
Okay, let's have a discussion about how completely idiotic this whole "privilege" concept is.
There are all kinds of differences between people.
Joe is tall, many other people are not tall. Does Joe's height "privilege" cause other peoples' shortness?
Emily is pretty, many other people are not pretty. Does Emily's attractiveness "privilege" cause other peoples' unattractiveness?
Laquisha runs fast, many other people do not run fast. Does Laquisha's speed "privilege" cause other peoples' slowness?

Should the able-bodied person apologize to the handicapped person for being healthy? What if the handicapped person has a great sense of humor, should he or she apologize to the able-bodied person who doesn't?

You think Tom goes out of his way to hear differing opinions ? Probably not. He's got a staff of assistants, and they all know that the easiest way to keep employed is to keep telling Tom what he wants to hear. Tom, on the other hand, naturally hires people he likes - and what he likes are people telling him what he wants to hear.

At least, when you get out and amongst the workplace or the bars, you hear opposing views. They may be full of shit, but that's a good exercise as well, just wading through the bullshit.

288 There's probably dozens of Hollyweirdo's lining up to give lip service for the bleeding brain. The LoFo's out there will absorb it without thinking. The media's really a big part of the problem. They continue to push the Narrative even though it's readily apparent things are not what they seem.

The left is way ahead of us with messaging. Obviously they have a lot of help. If you've ever heard a politician talk, I mean off script, they sound incredibly stupid. Pelosi's slurring isn't entirely Vodka and meds. Her incoherent babbling is endemic of most of congress. Imagine if they had no propaganda outlets like the MSM for their message. Imagine if the likes of Pelosi, McConnell and Sandy Cortez had to get in front of a camera and a microphone and explain what they wanted to do.

one of the hardest things in the world is being honest about things when they don't reflect how you see the world, one of the harder things is listening to facts to try to prove yourself wrong.

One of the tricks we do is to seize on mastery of facts or information to cement our status ranking in our communities. By admitting we are wrong we threaten our status which, evolutionarily, is a serious threat to survival (in the monkey troupe)

(I of course am always right, and fully informed, so there is always room for me at the table)

I truly can say if you are feeling like you have arthritis but don't have arthritis then go buy G/C. They are together in one pill which they, recently, have made into a smaller size pill-thank God. That pill was HUGE. You must do the required 6 week regime. Take the pill not the liquid drink because the drink has quite a bit of sugar in it. 311 If these schools want to have discussions, let's have them. Pick any one person and you can name hundreds, if not thousands, of attributes that person has: skin color, height, weight, sexual preference, intelligence, athletic ability, artistic ability, friendliness, sense of humor, spatial perception, health, wealth, education, etc., etc.

The race-baiters pick out just a few of these attributes -- among the hundreds or thousands that they could chose from -- and insist that these attributes are somehow "unfair" and the people who have them should feel guilty and be shamed for their "privilege."

Fifth-grader John is white and heterosexual and lives in a nice suburban house with a manicured yard. John is short and fat, struggles in school, has asthma, and his parents fight all the time and don't even notice that John is unhappy and has few friends. Fifth-grader Juan is an illegal alien and a homosexual and he lives in a small, cramped apartment, but his loving parents are devoted to him and he has lot of friends and artistic talent and robust good health. So who is actually the "privileged" one?

Wutt?? The story I heard, from a reliable source at the scene, was that Fen had sprinted out of the store in pursuit of a fleeing shoplifter who had packages of frozen chicken nuggets stuffed in his pants. She was nearly catching up to him, to the cheers of the large crowd that had gathered, when she attempted to spring over a parked Tesla. Sadly, her toe caught the roof rail and she tumbled (caught in Slo-Mo on the store security cams) over the roof and onto the pavement injuring her knee and causing injuries to her face. The thief, unfortunately, escaped, but not before he dropped his loot and vanished among the maze of cars. A parade is now planned in the Spring to honor Fen's bravery. The crowd gave Fen a final score of 10!
