How Soon Until Faux-Conservatives Proclaim DeSantis (and Youngkin) To Be Too “Exhausting”?

Are you exhausted yet with all the scandals and controversy surrounding Governor Ron DeSantis in Florida?

Or how about Governor Glenn Youngkin in Virginia? From his controversial campaign to his mishandling of the I-95 snowstorm, aren’t you just exhausted? Now to be fair, Youngkin hasn’t actually been sworn in yet as Governor, but you have to admit his future tenure is already shaping up to be exhausting.

I jest. But only because it is quite clear which playbook political-media leftists and faux-conservatives are following to try to destabilize prominent GOP Governors.

In November 2019 I wrote a piece about the evergreen complaint that Republican Presidents are just too “exhausting,” and how faux-conservative pundits were using the “exhausting” angle to weaken Trump’s successful presidency.

Is Trump's Presidency More "Exhausting" Than Reagan's Presidency? (Ace of Spades HQ - Nov 2019)

A recent meme among allegedly conservative pundits is that they are *exhausted* from covering the Trump presidency. With a heavy heart, they state that the exhausting nature of Trump’s presidency is not sustainable, and therefore something must change.

I won’t bother going into great detail about the left’s DeSantis derangement syndrome, but one example is Jen Psaki stating last week that DeSantis has been “not exactly advocating for people in his state to get vaccinated.” Of course that’s false, but it creates an air of controversy around him. By contrast, after vaccines rolled out, 60 Minutes did a hit piece on DeSantis, accusing him of corruption for trying to get vaccines to grocery stores that could vaccinate senior citizens, his most loyal constituency.

The stories that the left is pushing about DeSantis may be false, but aren’t you exhausted by all the controversy surrounding him? Surely there is someone like Jeb or Nikki who is less controversial and less exhausting, right?

We all had a good laugh at “conservative” Jonah Goldberg this week for his ignorant tweet trying to blame the I-95 traffic jam in Virginia on Glenn Youngkin, the Republican Governor-elect. All the mockery and insults hurled at Jonah were well-deserved, but the critical point is that he never got around to criticizing the actual Governor, who is a Democrat.

Jonah - Youngkin.JPG

Once we stopped laughing at Jonah’s pompous ignorance, it became clear that the purpose of his attack on Youngkin was to soften him up, so that people will eventually be tired of all the “controversies” and “scandals” surrounding Virginia’s Republican Governor. Youngkin was elected without the consent of the Beltway’s political-media class, so you can be darn sure that he will get the DeSantis treatment, and that everything he does will be scandalous. And exhausting.

Embrace exhaustion if you want to see effective conservative leadership. I am hopeful that Ron DeSantis will be our next President, and that all the right people will find his presidency to be exhausting.

I remain trapped in a snowdrift on I-95. We ate most of the dog yesterday. The kids and I are beginning to eye each other warily. A couple of nice young men in a 4WD truck offered to pull us out and help jumpstart the car yesterday, but remaining firm in my conviction that the governor will fulfill his emergency functions as promised, I turned down the offer. As a side note, urine doesn't taste half bad when you're really thirsty. As always, we end the day by praying, "Our Gov, who art in Richmond hallowed be thy name. Thy tow trucks come, thy melting sun, on Northbound, as it is on U.S. 7. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our student loans, as we forgive those who have student loaned us. And deliver us from private sector rescue, for thine is the first responders and the water bottles and the contact tracers for ever and ever. Amen"

Going along to get along NEVER works. It's no different than giving in to your kid's tantrums. Sometimes, you can figure out what is setting the kid off and you can eradicate unnecessary triggers, but sometimes your kid is just being a PITA and pushing you to see how far they can control YOU. People on the right expressed exhaustion with defending President Bush on his policies during his administration - especially the war efforts - when he refused to defend himself. People on the right expressed exhaustion with defending Rush Limbaugh when he made statements to expose the left that people on the right felt were 'uncouth'. People on the right expressed exhaustion with defending Trump.

Common thread among all those was not Bush, Rush and Trump. It was the relentless attacks and lying and smearing of those men -- and by proxy, everyone on the right, their supporters -- by the left.

The fact is that the left is not going to stop, no matter who is the defacto leader of the right. If people are exhausted, they can do two things... recharge and get ready for worse to come or... shut up, 'ring the bell' and step aside. Because the left is never going to stop.

What these people want is a candidate the Democrats and MFM will just love. They want peace, defined by the absence of conflict. It will never happen. They don't remember that Romney, when he ran against them, was the Devil. McCain was pure evil. Bush was Hitler.

Whoever you think they love, or even tolerate, like they did Trump for his entire pre-political career, they will make into their Emmanuel Goldstein until you're "exhausted" by the candidate. It doesn't matter who it is. Get used to that, and pray for a candidate who can take the abuses.

This is a similar mistake to things like publicly calling people liars a few years back over complaints about business taxes when pundits who'd never worked a real job in their life didn't realize that people with payroll are paying taxes quarterly.

Ordinary people took a stand on Jan 6, 2021 and they've been in prison rotting in DC for almost a year. Parents go up against school boards and the teachers unions work to get them declared "domestic terrorists".

Trump and DeSantis don't have those worries. Trump is rich and DeSantis is Governor. So he can't be fired until the next election or a recall. The rest of us do not have that protection for our livelihoods.

156 Good point. And it does take a rare individual who 1) is willing to fight, b) has the arguments ready, and i) has the loudest physical voice.

Nationally the loudest voices are the Ruling class, the MSM, and the entertainment industry.

Not just that. Need individuals who have a platform. We used to have Rush. The left tried their damndest to get him off the air, to no avail. But now they are having success in shutting up people on the right through censorship. Lots of people on the right fit 1, b and i, but just do not have the platform to reach the masses.

It's painful to realize how much of an influence Rush's show could have had through this Plandemic to get out information to the masses. (i.e. the truth about HCQ and Ivermectin and monoclonal antibodies, the truth about vaxxines, etc.).

You really do need to sit down and read the Constitution. It gives the states independence to do mostly what they want as long as individual rights aren't fucked with. Nothing insurrectiony about it. It's all there in black and white..

160 There was no "Muslim ban". Obviously. Just a tiny example of how complete nonsense and lies have replaced reality thanks to crude cartoonish propaganda replacing a press and real information, and of course the failure of any remaining sane adults (in this case even the Trump team) to pound the correction into the public's heads.

Of course the buffoonish lawless riot of the "judiciary" on this nicely complemented the mass disinformation hysteria, and completed the picture of stupid, ignorant country dumbed down beyond recognition.

161 >>Well, they have a lot more protections than the average person. If I make a stand, depending on what it is, I could my job. Ordinary people took a stand on Jan 6, 2021 and they've been in prison rotting in DC for almost a year. Parents go up against school boards and the teachers unions work to get them declared "domestic terrorists".

There are always costs to fighting back against an entrenched, dominating opponent but there are also costs to not fighting back. We didn't fight back for decades which is how we got into this position in the first place.

It doesn't always require something as big as Jan 6th. Just refusing to accept their narratives and pushing back with our own is a whole lot more than most do now. I am so sick of those who say, "Well Trump did a lot of good things but .....".

Fuck but. Stop apologizing. The left never does and they have a corrupt, demented failure as their standard bearer. Hit them back even harder and make them defend for a change.

That is, until Biden's "basement campaign" where he barely even left the house and spent most of the day sleeping.

But its hardly surprising she underperformed in multiple states, she barely performed at all. She intended to just ride the publicity and establishment backing of "of course Hillary wins" against what they perceived as a joke candidate.

So they underestimated the massive groundswell of popular support for Trump, and did not have the mechanism in place to inject votes when it came down to counting that they had for 2020.

In my opinion, we have a lot of big voices, it's just that I'm not sure how much credibility they have with the general public yet. The great thing about Rush was that he had built up a following based on trust and respect. The 'big voices' we have now have only come recently (last 10+ years or so) to the party. And I don't think all of them have the same skill for teaching and informing people about history like Rush did. Today, too many people are all about trying to say things not to educate or inform, but to sensationalize in order to get clicks and hits.

Rush did that sometimes too -- being absurd to expose absurdity -- but he was mainly about educating and informing about conservatism and its benefits to society.

217 the meme/trope of "exhaustion" depends on the simple fact that most average people, whether on the left or right, are terrified of confrontation and just want everything to be nice, easy, and happy. 242 Here's a new line of attack to put leftists on defense.

Yesterday the head of the internal security group in Kazakhstan, Karim Massimov, was arrested for potential treason for being a part of the riots against the government. This look suspiciously like a repeat of the color revolution we helped run in Ukraine in 2014.

And just like in Ukraine Hunter and Joe were deeply involved in corruption in Kazakhstan. Hunter was getting paid big money by corrupt K-stan oligarchs and pols for access to Biden and there is a photo of Hunter and Brandon meeting with Massimov at a DC restaurant while Brandon was VP, a meeting Hunter set up. He also bragged in emails that were found on his laptop where he claimed Massimov was a "good friend".

Do you think Putin knows this? I am sure he does. Start making leftists answer for this for a change.

246 I don't think that's exactly right, there are a fair number on our side who are vaxed, me for example. I'd say the dividing line is more like voluntary vaccination vs state mandated vaccination.
Posted by: a.moron

So, I would fall on the side of state mandated in my mind because even though I refused to be vaccinated until July 2021, I did surrender so that I could cross the border to once again be "allowed" to see my mom and son in Canada. but, to most, I voluntarily made that choice.

For some, losing their job was the dividing line.
For others, it was their own personal healthcare choice.

Mandated vs voluntary choice has become blurred and it's just as onerous as black vs white, rich vs poor, south vs north, pure blood vs adulterated blood, at least to me.

You could probably get hired, especially if you have police experience and a college degree (they love that, no mater what it is. I don't think its a requirement any longer since Hoover died, but it might be).

In the end, I think that's what doomed the FBI: that college degree requirement. When colleges were fully radicalized, all that meant was every agent was poisoned.

The U.S. and Japan on Sunday agreed to keep American troops within their bases as worries grew about a sharp rise in coronavirus cases in the country.

The restrictions starting Monday will last 14 days, confining U.S. military personnel to base facilities except for "essential activities," a statement from the U.S. Forces in Japan said. The Japanese Foreign Ministry released the same statement.

The allies will share information and cooperate on coronavirus measures, "given the extraordinary virulence of the omicron variant spreading throughout Japan," the statement said.

U.S. military members will wear masks, both on and off base, when outside their homes, and will continue to carry out strict testing before leaving for and after arrival in Japan, it said.

Nobody was wearing a mask. I told them that an Anglican priest in Canada has said that you need to present vaccine papers in order to come to church. I told them that if I start demanding papers in order to attend church they need to call my boss and ask for me to be removed, because I will have gone bonkers.

Its cargo cult mentality such as this as to why the Party Military is a toothless paper tiger.--well not sure what that means, but if it is a knock against this military leadership I do not have a huge disagreement, but in the case of Japan, we have pretty good relations with them. And we are their guests. And their citizens are taking the same precautions ( warranted or not). So in this case the leadership is not doing anything particularly wrong

341 . So in this case the leadership is not doing anything particularly wrong

So if someone proposed to both the Japanese and The Democratic Party Military that they discontinue the manufacture, distribution and use of NBC protective gear because its expensive, bulky and is no more effective than a My Pillow™ cloth mask, do you think that they would get on board? Or would they object mainly because of the MIC kickbacks in ordering NBC gear?

The cargo cult mentality w/r/t to masks is: "Oh surgeons wear paper masks so that means that it stops all viruses" or "Asians wear masks all the time, therefore it must work".

lets just forget that OSHA would penalize any paint shop for using this high-tech form of air filtration of paper/cloth masks.
