Governor Blackface, Ralph Northam, MIA and Radio Silent For Hours as Motorists Are Stranded on Highway From Winter Storm Snow Emergency;
Noted True Conservative and Asnes Chair of Liberty Fellow Jonah Goldberg Blames Glenn Youngkin

A lot of complaining in Virginia about the highways being impassable, and emergency vehicles failing to rescue people literally snowbound for hours.

Nearly 50 mile stretch of I-95 in Virginia is shut down this morning. Some drivers say they’ve been stuck for over 10 hours! https://t.co/cBLE7AXGRW

-- JoeyLive5 (@JoeySovine) January 4, 2022

John Rogers
@JohnRogers8News

We've been getting calls from people stranded on I-95 for up to 16 HOURS!!

People running out of gas and food while stuck in awful backups lasting for miles and miles.

We'll be covering it all this morning on @8NEWS

Enter fat failure and comfort-craving weakling softbelly liberal Jonah Goldberg.

For instance, Jonah Goldberg, who we have been reliably told is a truuuue conservative or something, said on Twitter that "If I was Glenn Youngkin I'd be flooding the zone to get this I-95 crap fixed. DC suburbs are vengeful about this kind of thing."

I'm glad that RedState quoted that, because I didn't think to screencap it, and the Coward Weakling Jonah has now deleted it.

Screenshot (1153).png

Nice save, Jonah. You're so funny, you're able to effortlessly turn a humiliating error that exposes you as an on-the-payroll leftist shill into a humorous, charming moment by using 2005-era slang like "baller."

I know why he claimed that Youngkin was governor -- because other leftwingers, the only people he trusts, were making that claim on Twitter, the only platform he reads.

How long would it have taken you to actually confirm who the governor is of the state right next to the District you live in, Jonah? Two seconds?

Yeah why bother. You're too important for that, rewriting the same breezy, bullshitty "essay" week after week, often, ahem, "incorporating" the thoughts of others in "your" work.

When was the last time you'd say you really put in a solid four-hour workday, Jonah? Can you even remember?

73 The problems in VA with this storm...

No one predicted the severity til hours before...
It was severe all over the state...
Virginia does snow removal at the state level b/c we don't get enough to make it cost-effective at the local level, so the state had to cover everything.
Much of that equipment is usable only for 8 inches or less, and we got much more than that, so only some of it would work (even if all of it was out).
Virginia was both coming off the holiday and is in the biggest Covid outbreak it's had since Covid, so fewer workers available.
Transition of government hasn't happened, but all Northam's people probably already left, so no one can handle the problem...and no one prioritized b/c 95 should ALWAYS be 1st, followed by 66, 495, 64, and 81 (I think those are the biggies)...

And it was Northam's 1st real all state snow storm...so I guess it's good we only had one with him in charge.

89 What's really the most damning thing about this whole exchange is that Jonah's "snappy comeback" is ludicrous on the face of it, revealing that he has zero ideas how trucks or snow works.

What is the Gov-elect supposed to do with his truck? He can't plow a highway with it. The highways are blocked. So...what would this "baller move" consist of?

Goldberg doesn't know because he has no idea how to do anything at the point of action. He has zero experience of digging a car out of a ditch, directing traffic or doing anything other than plagiarizing Ace's wit for "hot takes." That's why even his 'sick burns' completely fail.

What they were saying is that the road became icy, then several tractor trailers jacknifed and blocked the hwy. For 48 miles. I was not aware that I95 has no exits for 48 mile sections. The Hwy was then "closed" whatever that means. Apparently no one has a vehicle that can drive across a media with snow and head down the opposite lanes, which were completely empty in the drone view I saw. Fire trucks were rolling up and handing out ENTIRE cases of water to vehicles and carrying buckets of water to a trailer with horses in it. It was the dumbest thing I have ever seen. Since the weather channel guys didn't seem to understand why this hwy was not only shut down but everyone forced to sit there for hours and hours I'm sure I don't have the full story. But there is no way in Michigan people would sit in their vehicles for 15-20 hours while the hwy is closed.

206 The craziest wreck I ever saw was years ago on I-95. A few miles south of Woodbridge, I was headed north. The accident was only about half a mile in front of me so I didn't have to sit for too long. Got to the scene and there were two smashed up cars off the side of the road plus a Scoobie-Do van with an empty boat trailer. The trailer looked a bit twisted and as I got there I could see a beautiful, 20 foot ski boat about 30 feet up a tree next to the van.
I started laughing and the cop hurrying traffic along was laughing as well.
Weird!

207 Can anyone in law enforcement of emergency response explain what actually takes so long to clear an accident? I'm sure there are all sorts of protocols, but whenever I drive by a clean-up, it looks lackadaisical. There's no apparent urgency or effort to open lanes in Colorado. I presume that there's a reason for this and first responders aren't just milking the clock, but that's how it looks to a civilian.

212 I know why he claimed that Youngkin was governor -- because other leftwingers, the only people he trusts, were making that claim on Twitter, the only platform he reads.

Exactly. His info pipeline is leftists so that's what he went with, but in a way disguised so as to seem supportive "here's what I think he should do" instead of "WHAT A FAILURE!"

How long would it have taken you to actually confirm who the governor is of the state right next to the District you live in, Jonah? Two seconds?

And aside from sloth, this is evidence of bias. He presumed the worst of the man because his leftist buddies do and that's the only voice he chooses to listen to and surround himself with. If he was more balanced, thoughtful, and neutral, he'd go check it to make sure. Its easy.

But the fact that this apparently did not occur to him -- or he was too busy eating fistfulls of crisco out of the container to bother -- says oceans about the man's mindset.

We had a big pileup, drifts, etc, the IDT came out guns blazing but the good old boys club had the mess half cleaned before they even made it to the location.

It's no surprise that the blue staters feel like it's ok to be completely dependent on the government the way they do... THEY ARE ALREADY.

Here a while back we had a big artic blast come through. The highway department was struggling to open rural roads up, so me and a couple of my neighbors got in our old snowplow-equipped pickups and opened the roads in our area. I passed a highway department plow on one of my passes, figuring I'd be getting my ass chewed for plowing county roads without permission. Guy gave me a big smile and a thumbs up.

You couldn't cross 95 through the ditch of snow and ice to the other side - you'd just get stuck...

Not sure why the exits weren't used, although you do have to wait a few miles between exits, so 3-5 miles worth of people probably would have stayed uber-stuck...not sure about the other 40 miles...although the ramps were blocks of ice and it only takes one dead Tesla or car that can't get off the ramp to block that off, especially if it wasn't getting plowed when the snow was pouring down...

Where I grew up in semi-rural Colorado (rural county next to the semi-rural outer county in the Denver metro), if you put your own blade down on a public road, they'll fine you at least and might arrest you. Emergency or not, you don't encroach on official road clearance.

Once it gets to the point of "traffic stopped on expressway with heavy snow falling" the salt trucks and plows are stopped with the traffic. You have to clear an exit (and have its road cleared) and have the plows work backwards from that.

Yeah, there's no real good solution in that kind of situation. Running your engine to keep the battery from running down can get you chocked with CO because the snow might create a pocket of vapor around your vehicle, and it doesn't vent the gasses as well as when in motion.

AMC invented the future with the Eagle, they were just about 25 years early. A tall station wagon with four wheel drive and car-like driving characteristics? Why, that's the "Crossover Vehicle" that they invented.

They also invented the future with the Grand Cherokee. Chrysler made a very good move when the bought AMC and picked up the Jeep brand and AMC's engineers.

Having been a firefighter/EMT whose station covered about 5 miles of I-75 near metro Atlanta, you can find the hairiest part of my ass and kiss the hell out of it.

We close lanes and use our equipment to block the road so that the next hairy-knuckled fuckstain barreling down the interstate at 80mph while texting and eating a jelly donut doesn't plow into the crash scene and kill us all.

And, news flash, it takes a while to move multiple tons of wrecked steel and aluminum, triage, treat, and transport whatever patients might be involved, and then clear your precious roadway so you can get your wife to her bull's apartment on time.

I believe the standard is 10" snow = 1" rain. now that can vary based on actual conditions when the snow is falling, but typically the initial forecasting will use the 10 to 1 ratio for begining predictions.

We froze because the heater sucked in those cars - air cooled engine.

586 "VW used a gasoline fired heater to warm the car. There was a little gasoline burner in the dash. You did not want it to be bigger."

Those were optional and most were "heated" by heat exchangers on the engine exhaust. I had a 66 and learned to drive in the snow in Ohio in that thing. It would go when a lot of other cars would not.

They need monoclonal antibody treatment. It works. Don't believe the BS that 95% of US covid cases are omicron. That is just another lie to justify HHS shutting down shipments of Regeneron.

No, he's the one with the big tits in his family.

589 Hey I'm okay with Jonah Goldberg the regular schlub at the bar not knowing when the governor is inaugurated. I don't know or care.

What matters is that this kind of thing is supposed to be his job.

595 Iirc chains and studded tires have been illegal for years around here. Claim they tear up the roads. Tons of salt laid down every winter makes millions of potholes but those are job security.

This seems like a big deal. Newly elected Manhattan DA Bragg promises no prison time for any sentence except for murder and some violent felonies (plus white collar and government malfeasance). This is after trial and conviction.

604 So late joining the conversation, but this is why I ALWAYS keep a "zombie apocalypse bag" in my car.
Not a lot of things, some dehydrated food, heat source, blankets and/or emergency blankets, etc.
Stuff that I would expect to be needed to survive ALONE for 24-36 hours!
Just saying...

Lived 6 years in Alaska, and a few years in California where chains are often required when going to Tahoe (aka Donner [party] Pass).

608 "Emergency or not, you don't encroach on official road clearance.
Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!)"

Yeah, Joe, that's technically the law here, too, but at least here I think it's more of a way for them to hold you responsible if you do damage than it is to necessarily stop you from doing it in the middle of an emergency. They're pretty clear that they don't want you doing it, but I've got elderly neighbors and I'm not going to play the "they needed medical attention but the ambulance couldn't get through" game.

So it's definitely not legal, but it's not really enforced unless you do something dumb.
