I suppose this could all be a hoax -- with, I guess, actors in authentic-looking NYPD police uniforms. Seems real, though. Reminds me of Adam Carrola's theory about why they're determined to "get 'em young" even though the young face near-zero danger from covid: Because you can't "crate-train" a middle-aged dog. You can only crate-train a puppy. They want to crate-train the population, and you can only crate-train the population for obedience from their earliest years.

Why do they get arrested at places like Applebee's? Likely because it's the only places they've been challenged. Your local mom-and-pop restaurant *probably* cares more about their customers than some stupid rule nobody cares about. The big corporate job, though, is going to enforce uniformly and with zero tolerance.

Regulations governing crossbows in Britain are receiving renewed attention after a man was apprehended with one on the grounds of Windsor Castle, where members of the royal family had gathered for the Christmas holiday. "We are considering options to strengthen controls on crossbows," a spokesman for Britain's Home Office said in a statement Tuesday, as part of a continuing review of rules on lethal weapons ordered this year by Priti Patel, the home secretary. The renewed scrutiny comes days after an intruder breached the castle grounds on Christmas morning.

Why should someone else be able to take away YOUR Rights, when they already have to comply with things like Civil Rights laws?
Well the problem is the interpretation of civil rights laws. Right to property overrules any generalized sense of "that's mean and unfair". This is where the BAKE THE CAKE thing comes in. Either businesses are free to do what they desire with their own money and property or they are not FULL STOP. As long as they are not violating actual rights (like murdering customers or stealing) then they should be allowed to do what they wish. But the system has to be free to make that work: as in no monopolies and no cronyism using the government to prop up and protect themselves. Besides David Pakman just wanting to be a little bitch, trying to act like he's a high class man who only eats at 3 star micheline restaurants (yet sucks off hookers in a Harlem alley way) is there any point to him?
But to answer his question, why wouldn't you protest there? It's a much bigger space (if cops get violent at some 20'x20' SoHo Italian restaurant there's a much bigger chance of getting injured or someone else being injured, raising your charges from trespassing to assault) The big corporations are more like to not press charges, especially since you can point to other incidents where they don't like BLM burning their place down. The burden is on a huge company if there is damage (or if you need to sue them) and not some small business that can be ruined by any incident. And it's easier to film there, with lots of space and bright lights. Posted by: Rbastid at December 28, 2021 02:32 PM (lEDjA) 136

The medical profession is doing what they have been told to do just as the police have been told what to do. They don't want to lose their pensions, in the doctors case they don't want to lose the "prestige " of being a doctor in a big medical complex. They don't care about truth or the general public. They are going to have a lot to answer for whenever this ends. I have no trust in either.

Right, the one they demanded the papers from was just the little boy: single person, "Deine." And yes, the more stuff on your menu the worse the quality is likely to be. Its very hard to get consistent quality results from dozens of options because the chef will not be proficient, comfortable, and prepared for that many choices. There are exceptions. Most ethnic food is a combination of the same 6 or so ingredients mixed in different proportions so you can prep easily for that. But a place like Applebees that tries to have everything all at once, its going to suck. And it does. Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at December 28, 2021 02:37 PM (KZzsI) 192

Panera is the big one. Pei Wei is sort of a Chinese food version. There are various others, but a lot of them seem to be regional. We have one here called "Chicken Salad Chick" that is a lot like Panera, only they focus on - just guess - chicken salad. It's good, but its shtick is how feminine everything is. Posted by: Oldcat at December 28, 2021 02:57 PM (eoQWY) ++++ Which is why the coffee is awful and tastes like it's been run through a smelter. Starbucks coffee in the store sucks because it's not a drink, it's an ingredient. If you're loading up a drink that is mostly milk and sugar, the coffee needs to be extremely powerful just to have a hope of punching through the noise to give the final product a hint of being something with coffee in it. Make a "Frappucino" (or however the hell it's spelled) with normal coffee and you're unlikely to even taste the coffee at all. United States forfeits world junior hockey championship preliminary game due to quarantine
https://es.pn/3z8chsA Team USA was forced to forfeit its men's U20 world junior championship preliminary game against Switzerland on Tuesday due to a "mandated team quarantine" following two positive COVID tests among the players in Alberta, Canada. The International Ice Hockey Federation announced that rather than a postponement, the game will be recorded as a forfeit and a 1-0 win for the Swiss, per IIHF rules. The U.S. team's quarantine status will be reevaluated to check for false positives and to determine whether it can compete in its next preliminary round game, which is scheduled for Dec. 29 against Sweden. The ignition on Saabs is between the seats next to the e-brake. There was an insurrection among Saab enthusiasts when they moved the ignition to the dash later in the 90s.
Posted by: IllTemperedCur at December 28, 2021 03:04 PM (n+4am) The Saabs were the first Subarus with a cult following. Hippies loved them more than Volvos. They were wildly popular in Marin CA in the 70's. One of my HS friends' mother had one of the 2-stroke fuckers. Had a big footstand on the rear bumper, and you used it to jump up and down on to mix the oil and gas. Seemed nobody owned just one if there was a second car. If you saw a redwood tree, there was a dead Saab underneath it. Posted by: clutch cargo - processed in a facility that may contain lead at December 28, 2021 03:11 PM (wAnMi) 423

It doesn't matter if there's life outside of Earth. If it's also outside our solar system - which is likely, assuming that life as we know it is not a unique event (for which there is no evidence to the contrary) - then we'll never know about it. Whats especially bizarre about this is that the only other place Ive heard a discussion about how the religious would react poorly to knowledge of alien life is from a UFO podcast Ive been listening to. Its from one of the more sane UFO researchers but its still bug-eyed crazy. And this particular worry is, in my opinion, projecting their own paranoia onto a convenient target. The rise and fall of Fox does not really interest me. The idea that Fox is disingenuous about conservatism is not something I'm against. I imagine they are, considering their owners and board. However, it is just to note the irony of them trying to appeal to conservatives again at the same time that more than conservatives are watching, much more than those who watch MSNBC and CNN, combined. This was a remnant from the merry prankster shit he was involved in. Graham did a great job of cross booking a lot of acts that would never have entered mainstream listening and subsequently, never been successful. Old blues acts, soul singers, jazzmen...all benefitted from their exposure to crowds that were there to see the artists that these less well known acts influenced. Apropos of Fox, you know who really lost me? Newsmax. Time was they were pretty reliably common-sense conservative. Then over the past year they started pitching Covid panic-porn and burying the lede in every good news Covid story with the steady point of vax, vax, vax, vax.
It was actually weird to see how much they contorted themselves so every story had the same "Moar Vax" implication. In their case I truly believe there must have been some change in ownership or critical financial event that essentially captured the company. Like Pfizer just bought a controlling share. And did those amino acids ever become a protozoa, or a bacteria, or evolve into a frog which over time became a tiger? Silly yes. But there's more to creating "life" than meets the eyes. Posted by: OneEyedJack at December 28, 2021 03:26 PM (MFphb) No - carbon dioxide, water, ammonia, a few other compounds to provide elements that make up more complex compounds, and a spark to drive the reactions that might form. Each spark gave a chance for something to happen. The idea was to simulate what might happen on the early earth. But the argument was about producing the stuff our life is made from, and that has been found to be easy enough, not the billions to one claimed above. Obviously building that up is harder, but some of the smaller viruses are very simple on a semi-living thing scale. We see lots of intermediates out there. None of this affects an argument for or against God. God can set up life using mechanical processes, or he could set up billboards proving his existence any day.
