Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | CDC Changes Quarantine Rules from 10 Days to 5 Days -- As Fauci Admits It's About EconomicsThe Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) just dropped adjusted quarantine guidelines for COVID-19 and vaccinated individuals. This is after an outcry from the airline industry that the guidelines and the surge in Omicron variant cases were causing staffing shortages.Quoting AP: U.S. health officials on Monday cut isolation restrictions for Americans who catch the coronavirus from 10 to five days, and similarly shortened the time that close contacts need to quarantine. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention officials said the guidance is in keeping with growing evidence that people with the coronavirus are most infectious in the two days before and three days after symptoms develop. Is this based on "The Science"? Nah, son. It's based on what everything the government does -- politics, and appeasing powerful interests. Such as the airline industry. Now I don't object to the change -- but I am going to underline that this decision, like the recommendation to close schools, was made not based on "The Science" but by the request of powerful lobbies. The airline industries wanted this; the teachers unions demanded schools be closed. Though I bet "The Science" is much, much stronger in supporting this latest change. But still, that isn't why the decision was made. The science has been clear since May 2020 that children have low risk from covid and transmit covid at very, very low rates but we've kept schools closed, and kept kids masked, because the Democrats' key labor constituency and donor group the teachers union demanded we punish kids to make teachers feel Important and Respected. And it's probably been clear for a long, long while that 10 days quarantine was excessive and unnecessary. The reason for the change, then? Not science -- complaints from industry. Barely anything in the past two years of the pandemic has been done because of science. It's all politics. And dirty, crude, base-stroking politics at that. The Left is aghast that Fauci admitted that "The Science" is really The Politics:

I think that a lot of this has to do with BBB dying. Afghanistan and BBB were supposed to be two major accomplishments of the Biden admin, and both have turned into major failures. COVID was the third accomplishment, and between the hysteria over the omicron variant and the upcoming SCOTUS cases, I think that the admin wants to try and disengage itself so that they don't have another loss on their record. Hence why Biden did the 180 to pass it off to the governors.

We're back to "normal" for certain values of normal.
It was only a matter of time. We live in a soup of disease in a way. Trillions of organisms trying to eke out a living off each other. No living being is free from feeding off another in some way. parasitism is one of the oldest means of an organism acquiring sustenance. It's more easily digested, compact and all placed nicely in a single package for ingesting now or taking away for later. "The reason is that with the sheer volume of new cases that we are having and that we expect to continue with Omicron, one of the things we want to be careful of is that we don't have so many people out," Dr. Anthony Fauci explains why CDC changed Covid isolation guidelines.
++++ So you did a cost/benefit analysis on aggressive and disruptive measures to contain Omicron, and found that they are not worth pursuing. Two questions CNN *should* have asked, but didn't and never will: 1. Was this kind of cost/benefit analysis - or any kind - performed at any point prior to this, whether in the initial outbreak or later during that outbreak, or with the Delta variant? 2. Given this admission that at least some COVID response measures are generally deleterious and too expensive to be justified, have you reassessed any of the existing COVID response measures for cost/benefit tradeoffs and will your organization be recommending a stand-down on any other existing measure? Those questions would be polite, neutral, incisive, non-inflammatory, reasonable and informative. It will never happen. Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at December 28, 2021 12:14 PM (DU+/6) 63

I think the green screen is for a couple reasons:
1) Larger room for teleprompters and aides to keep Biden on track. 2) Gets people used to the idea of not seeing him in the actual oval office, so we don't know where he's actually being recorded. 3) Allows them greater control over who has access to Biden, so fewer chances of word getting out about his deterioration. 4) Allows them to prerecord certain speeches when Biden is lucid, rather than risking an actual live speech. In January of 2020 we smelled a rat, by February of 2020, we started piecing everything together by May/June of 2020, most people knew the score and that this whole thing was a Deep State/Globalist political Op. It's looks like it's achieved as much as it can and now it's becoming a massive liability and has destabilized, economics, politics, culture, the civil society, etc. And as others have said, they are trying to figure out how to end it. yeah, it is political since it served specific political interests (BigTech online shopping, BigBox store allowed open, Teachers, Airlines) ... but at the same time Fauci still thinks "keeping society running" is not part of the "scientific equation". Great Harm was done by shutdowns, and they needed a much more valid reason for such draconian damages. But to the degree they killed small business, isolated political revolt against the coup, shut down religious gatherings pre-election, ... the real agenda emerges as an attack on American Liberty ... probably planned for years, actually. Joe Biden really has no power to declare Covid over. He can say it. But having whipped up a significant part of the country into an irrational panic, they've lost control. Problem with basing public policy on irrationality and fear-mongering is that you can't reason people out of it because you didn't reason them into it. If Biden et al. want to end this, they'd be better off trying to convince the media to carry their water (instead of more panic porn) and use media like Twitter to heap scorn on those who continue to worry. Peer pressure would be a lot more effective than data.

But ace the "science" is even more basic and cuts off this whole discussion much earlier.
There is no conceivable reason for any "quarantine" for a prevalent (possibly already endemic) highly infectious virus with an IFR less than that of flu for most of the population. "Vulnerable" or higher-risk people may want to isolate; people may want to "quarantine" away from such people - those are rational but still low-return responses. But all people "testing positive" quarantining never made sense and still doesn't. "The Science" has been totally abandoned from the outset, and almost the entire population - including many "skeptics" and "anti-vax" people, still operate on the unscientific assumptions that are the foundation of everything since March 2020. But if you looked at the original report it was something like 90% of cases had a 5 day or less incubation period, ~95% at 7 days or less, with a couple of likely outliers (likely they missed the actual exposure event) at 10 days or so. But CDC tacked on an extra four days "to be safe." I've seen some early stuff that had Omicron looking to be more like 95% within 3 days.

The left fully supports government's dictates, and Fauci's tyranny, so I'm sure they're 100% cool with this. What's DU saying?
"The CDC no longer cares about spread of COViD 5 days instead of 10 means more people out spreading the virus. I get my booster shot in the morning but that isn't the point. I do not want this virus in my body and I am not going to allow it. The CDC and government could try to help me with that. I guess I just have to treat everyone as if they are spreading it. I don't care about getting asymptomatic healthcare workers or airline workers back to their jobs. People can wait for the next flight, people can wait for their non emergency appointment or surgery. Posted by: TheJamesMadison, who is too old for this shit at December 28, 2021 12:52 PM (LvTSG) +++++ Yup, and that library was also a big factor in their purchase of Fox. They wanted the library and they wanted exclusivity for their own platform. Well, they got it. And Disney+ did gangbusters growth before stalling out. Which is to be expected. Growth is easy at the beginning. But the library is not all-powerful, and while it might get people to walk through the door, it won't keep them on the estate. Eventually you watch what you want, or you binge and burn out. And then you'll cancel and come back in 6-12 months to watch some more of whatever it is. But why pay in the meantime? You don't. Just how dumbed-down, machine-like, and corporate most of "medicine" has become was dramatically illustrated the past 2 years. Many key features that characterized medicine throughout the modern era, especially pragmatic empiricism, simply gone - not just gone, but demonized and policed into the shadows. Thus the utterly mundane and normal phenomenon of doctors doing no-risk experimentation in the face of urgent need - trying different things and letting experience guide them, as was normal in the "art" portion of the science and art of medicine, seems to have vanished.
Management doesn't approve. State board might review your license. All kinds of blackballing potential hangs over you. Ridiculous. And not a passing thing - a revelation of degradation that's systemic. Posted by: rhomboid at December 28, 2021 12:57 PM (OTzUX) 330

I checked the data the other day (to see if Walensky was lying) and it seems clear that a vaccinated person has an 18-20 times greater chance of surviving than an unvaccinated person. Once the FedGov created a health plan for older people and children we were headed towards this. Doctors are not adjunct Federal Agents. You cannot be guaranteed you right to privileged speech with your Dr. If they did this to lawyers people would hit the roof. Drs are now REQUIRED to report people for a whole bunch of stuff. And they are required to report things they THINK are happening or been done. And now we find out that they're not interested in giving you advice and treatment to get you to be healthy or regain your health. They're there to fill in the boxes so that their group can get paid. All we've become are Federal health dollar filtration units. Because the FedGov keeps the fees low, they have to run people thru their practice like an assembly line. You spend at most 10 minutes with your Dr. and most of that time they are filling out the visit form. Posted by: jakee308 at December 28, 2021 01:06 PM (6R0HD) 394

MaxMBJ doesn't seem you understand the import of your earlier claim. Stats have to show, in the real world, not some "study", that "vaccination" has reduced mortality below what it would have otherwise been.
Just setting up that comparison in a valid way is quite a challenge, given the circumstances. But looking at the macro numbers, one has to find a clear departure from an expected path, or a path experienced by some similar population (in this case, a form of influenza, this means age and Hope-Simpson adjusted). Not aware of any, any more than for all the other "interventions" - masks, lockdowns, distancing, quarantines. Posted by: rhomboid at December 28, 2021 01:10 PM (OTzUX) 416

Then upon return to California fourteen days 'isolated' in a hotel a mile from my house - state paranoia, family paranoia, I still came home to walk the dogs when no one else was here.
I have had my three shots of Moderna, two plus booster, every one of them had more immediate aftereffects (okay, not quite the fever) than the virus itself. I've spent six days really incapacitated by the shots vs four-and-change somewhat incapacitated by OG Wuflu. I still look at Ohmybod or whatever the current variant is as probably God's Vaccine. I checked the data the other day (to see if Walensky was lying) and it seems clear that a vaccinated person has an 18-20 times greater chance of surviving than an unvaccinated person.
I'm going to call Bull Shit on you. That statistic has never been true, not even close. First of all, what variants? What age demo? What comords? Did any receive any early treatment? Any fool who says "I checked the data (in a univariant way) and came up with a binary response" knows absolutely nothing about analyzing data and should be kept out of the room where actual data scientists work. 147 One thing about the school closures that I don't understand, did the schools still get paid per student "attending". Because if so, that would go a long ways toward building up the schools' cash reserves if they got the same Federal income, without having the expenses of students physically in class.
Posted by: IllTemperedCur at December 28, 2021 12:25 PM Lol...oh, that's precious. Of course we all got paid, through the taxes of the remaining workers our lock downs didn't crush. Or debt! People can argue all day long about the efficacy or helpfulness of this vax, but I don't see the point of getting 2 shots and a booster when even the govt says you can still get the virus and transmit it when the data show 99%+ recovery rate and vax adverse reactions are greater than 1%. Simple math for the under 70 crowd says skip the shot.

You cannot be guaranteed you right to privileged speech with your Dr. If they did this to lawyers people would hit the roof. Drs are now REQUIRED to report people for a whole bunch of stuff. And they are required to report things they THINK are happening or been done.
posted by jakee308 That is not quite correct, it gets complicated other than psychotherapist patient privileges. In criminal trials, circuits are split on doctor patient privilege per se but often apply other rules of evidence to exclude it (relevance for example). Civil cases involving federal questions are different than diversity cases. In diversity cases, many states have such privileges, on federal questions, it is complicated like in criminal matters. But there is no reason for the Atlanta Constitution to exclude typical newspaper reporter info, leaving more questions than answers. There is simply no way to decern whether what they are reporting is as meaningful as they try to suggest - that Trump's a liar. That seems to be the purpose here, but they fail to convince. You are more convincing just in that one sentence than they were in 5 paragraphs. Posted by: Boswell at December 28, 2021 01:19 PM (5iUNf) 450

Good luck with that pal with half the country about to become deathly ill and many will die, a lot will be crippled and the rest will be chronically sick for the rest of their shortened lives.
Meanwhile the purebloods will have to go into hiding because they will get blamed. In every incidence of mass hysteria there is always a scape goat or two. to relieve the stress. Posted by: jakee308 at December 28, 2021 12:25 PM Yep. All those "vaccines" we forced on the world? Immune-system-weakening drugs. Which means lots and lots of sick people for decades going forward. The other problem is that the licensed material (movies, mostly) jumps from platform to platform.
Yeah its a real problem, because you can never tell what or where something is that you might want to see. And if you get some exclusive thing like Disney+, the content is so limited you wonder why you're paying. They have all the more modern stuff, a tiny portion of their old stuff, and a tinier shred of the gigantic amount of things they bought to set up Disney+. Properties from other companies they purchased. You get maybe .01% of their catalog available. Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at December 28, 2021 01:22 PM (KZzsI) 456

Your privileged speech is lost because the Dr. is filling out that form which can be seen by anyone who can come up with an excuse to see it or hack it.
Those forms are the equivalent of a Drs. Case Notes but in a computer readable form for putting into a database. You can't opt out of this system. You can't be guaranteed who will or will not see this information. I'm not talking about a lawsuit or a crime. I'm talking about other people knowing personal information about your health and treatment. Posted by: jakee308 at December 28, 2021 01:29 PM (6R0HD) 459

Okay, back from lunch. Just checked to see if I'm still getting hammered. Check. Here's my general response.
Throwing out "99% survival rate" is pretty worthless. Since many of you believe -- as do I -- that pretty much everyone's going to get covid in some form or another before this is all said and done, let's apply that 1% death rate to the general US population. That's over 3 million people. Hm. That's a lotta people. Furthermore, if I'm in a room of 100 people and I'm told one of us will die in the next twenty minutes, I'm a trifle nervous. But then someone says, "But if you take this shot in the arm" it will only be 1 in 20 of these such rooms" I'm taking the shot. Period. Posted by: MaxMBJ at December 28, 2021 01:42 PM (Q3oNv) 465
And does everyone recall how the medical community came up with "Long Covid" when everyone realized that almost no one not already deathly ill was dying of the 'Vid?
Another invisible, undefinable, unstudyable enemy. In other words, the perfect foil. They used this one to argue for "super immunity! (TM)" for the already infected, as in: welp you just don't want to risk that Loooong Covid now do you?? I'm sure they'll roll this one out again for Omicron.
