PBS/Marist Poll Puts Brandon at Lowest Level of Approval Yet

FJB.

As President Joe Biden heads into the end of the year, he's facing a sour reality: The number of Americans who approve of his performance has hit a new low. Just 41 percent of Americans approve of the job he has been doing as president, according to a new PBS NewsHour/NPR/Marist poll. Support among independents alone dropped eight points in a week.

Overall, more than half -- 55 percent -- of Americans disapprove of Biden's performance, including 44 percent who strongly disapprove. His disapproval ratings have jumped 20 points since he took office, reaching a record high this month. The number who strongly disapprove jumped 6 points since a Marist poll conducted just one week earlier.

Everyone hates Brandon:

isapproval of the president stretches across most demographic groups, with his level of disapproval topping 50 percent among white and non-white voters, people living in cities and in rural America, and voters in every age range except those over 74 years old.

Biden still garners strong support among Democrats, with 87 percent approving of his job performance. But even among blue voters, his disapproval rating has jumped 7 points since he took office. Republicans are similarly entrenched: 95 percent disapprove of the job Biden is doing.

But the worst news for Biden is among indepdents, or, as I now call them, "Republicans:"

Perhaps the most alarming drop for the White House and Democrats heading into the midterm election year is Biden's support among independents. Two-thirds of independent voters disapprove of Biden, including half who strongly disapprove. Both numbers are up at least 30 points since he took office. Just 29 percent of independents approve of his job performance.

Brandon's only source of loyal support is Suburban Women, who supported him at 59% in 2020 and still approve of him at 57% now.

Karen is stubborn and dumb and wants another chardonnay.

Update: A subsample of 224 Hispanics shows even worse news for Biden.

Big caveat: the smaller the sample, the bigger the margin of error. A sample size of four hundred and change is usually the smallest poll people will run, and that has an MOE of about 5%.

A sample of 224 would have a larger MOE, around 7%.

That big, big caveat noted, Brandon isn't doing well with Hispanics.

Again, note you can't put any stock in this specific number.

A new national PBS / Marist poll finds Joe Biden’s approval rating is significantly LOWER with Hispanics than it is with whites.

Hispanics
Approve: 33%
Disapprove: 65%
Net: -32

Whites
Approve: 40%
Disapprove: 56%
Net: -16

These numbers are devastating for Democrats. pic.twitter.com/XWZyKktuGd

-- Giancarlo Sopo (@GiancarloSopo) December 20, 2021

And for those asking…

Hispanic n = 224 (sizable for a sub-sample)

Hispanic MoE = 7%

538 rates Marist with an A. If you look at their 2020 polling in FL, PA, and NC, they certainly skewed Dem. Their AZ poll was correct.

Make of that what you will. pic.twitter.com/3HdeDdh8Jv

Never underestimate the power of a woman's desire to belong with her social group. I can't think of anything else that would explain this. A non-trivial number of those women have husbands who's lives are being made harder, daughters who are at risk in school and sons who are being humiliated day in and day out. That in-group acceptance must be a tremendously powerful force.

And Trump. Don't forget that Trump left Joe a plateful of world problems, a Potemkin economy and still has white supremacist supporters who want to destroy the country and infect everyone because Trump was a sore loser who can't accept the results of a legitimate election.

118 Never underestimate the power of a woman's desire to belong with her social group. I can't think of anything else that would explain this. A non-trivial number of those women have husbands who's lives are being made harder, daughters who are at risk in school and sons who are being humiliated day in and day out. That in-group acceptance must be a tremendously powerful force.

This is exactly the case. Human beings are tribal, and women especially are sensitive to group dynamics out of a fear of being displaced. Upper middle class women seem the most sensitive, I'd argue because their positions are the most precarious. When you're awash in debt from student loans, mortgages, and credit cards trying to keep up with your social circle, and your job is part of the laptop class and much more vulnerable to sudden layoffs, you tend to be very sensitive to keeping on the right side of those whose goodwill you need.

this is gonna backfire bigly. i haven't read mollie hemingway's book "rigged" yet but her husband was on tim pool and explained it thus:
wasn't fraud (though there were many anomalies) but we got outplayed by the dems: specifically that cunt marc elias. they went in and filed lawsuits through state courts to ram home absentee voting, ballot harvesting etc. so it wasn't illegal per se, but it was certainly unethical. we do know that some states violated their own constitutions with the vote changes, and allegedly these are being addressed.
i'm trying to summarize a three hour interview here, so i recommend you guys check it out.
so the bottom line is the line "election stolen" i think will turn people off.

They leaned on covid protocols heavily to get a lot of stuff through like the mail in ballots. That's been pretty universally repealed. That's months of cheating they can't do again.

Plus places like GA have actually enacted new laws to help affect some of the chicanery.

There will be cheating, but their ceiling of cheating has been lowered fairly significantly.

We all saw that coming to a poster. I also think every poster saw the Jan 6 trap but a lot thought we wouldn't let it happen.

Trump talked about it constantly. At everyone of his rallies he would make it a big part of his speech.

The people who blew it were the RNC and the state governments. But even there they were thwarted by the courts. PA tried to sue before the election and it went all the way to the SC where they ruled they couldn't do anything because the election hadn't happened and then after the election they punted again.

Wine in large quantity. It's a cardboard box that contains a plastic (well, a variant of Mylar, I think) bag inside. The bag is full of wine and valve protrudes from the box to fill glasses. The valve is one-way, so the wine keeps well after being opened (though not indefinitely) and it is usually fairly cheap.

The classic in this segment is Franzia, which may have been first. The "box wine" meme started here as far as I know, as Franzia sucks but you sure do get a lot of it and it became something of a joke about, on and by yuppies. There are various competitors now, including those that claim to be a better - and sometimes actually objectively good - product that is cheaper due to its bulk packaging and much easier shipping. The "Bota Box" is an example of the latter.

It's literally a box of wine.

I don't think anyone (other than Mike Lindell) has explained or attempted to explain the (never-before-happened) phenomenon of Trump's vote counts going down in real time on the networks. Assuming they get those numbers from the computers, it's the computers that were the biggest issue. There is also nothing to stop truckloads of phony ballots and screened election employees in the middle of the night, mostly because (1) the media will never report it and (2) judges won't touch it. 392 Polling is hard to do. How do you get a reflective audience for each year?

I've suggested the best way is to poll the same people year after year since you can check their bias after each election. EG if Governor Someone wins by 5% and your people were +10 for him you have a 5 point bias for Someone's political party.

I think I heard that is what Barnes does from someone here.

I mostly agree. Democrats have been cheating since the formation of the Democrat party. It's what they do.

Republicans have historically been much more play by the rules. I don't it's always necessary to attribute nefarious actions when complacency is much more prevalent.

Trump is right about one thing. Republicans need to learn to fight as hard and dirty as Democrats.

Ballot harvesting - legal here in California - is a major exception. The only real way to utterly crush it is to get very high turn-out numbers at the voting locations so that you don't have to worry about Joe Antifa and his friends showing up late in the day with a few thousand votes that they "collected".

And even then, I'm not sure what would happen if someone had both an in-person and harvested ballot both under the same name.

409 The question of fraud and the 2020 official outcome is a bit complicated and key parts of it require the kind of extensive work that just isn't going to happen - such as audits followed up by focused additional investigation to establish whether "anomalies" are in fact fraud.

AZ did its largest county, and its first pass (it didn't go beyond ID'ing anomalies to finding out what was behind them) produced 5X the # of extremely dubious "votes" as the official state margin of victory.

The question in some cases may be unanswerable: did what was clearly fraud or illegitimately counted/cast ballots spell the difference? When courts throw out federal elections and mandate do-overs (it happens), they don't do so on the basis that a plaintiff has established that he won by 80, vs. the other guy officially winning by 50. It's that the process has produced a result that cannot be trusted, based on process evidence and anomalies.

But details and thinking are haaard, and icky.

While the wine box has a very 'down market' image, it's actually a good way to store wine. The wine is typically held in a mylar bag inside the box, and as wine is dispensed, it collapses inward. No air (specifically oxygen) gets in.

At this point, I trust no one - Fauci, Trump, doctors, ace, whoever - who suggests that they think people should get a "vaccine" or "booster". After all we know about them at this point, no one should be recommending them to anyone. Everyone should be recommending immunity boosting things such as vitamins and exercise and informing people of all the successful treatments out there such as HCQ, Ivermectin and monoclonal antibodies, not to mention the long-lasting immunity from natural immunity and infection recovery. And informing people that those pushing "vaccines" and "boosters" have been lying to the world about everything to do with COVID from day 1.

No need. We did some quick studies last year that showed that neither is highly effective at saving people who were untreated until they were near death, so we already know they're ineffective.

So, I think, even outside of Twitter, his attempt at creating controversy is yet again to draw focus to something.

473 Anyone looking at the actual lawsuits by the Trump campaign last year saw that process irregularities, or even specific violations of state law, are exactly the kind of thing in their complaints - well documented too. They even won, on the state level, in WI - but the court's "remedy" was an impractical sad joke that couldn't realistically be accomplished.

Why there wasn't a hurricane of legal action and protest about Clark County NV's absurd, Third World comedy-level election process fiasco I still don't understand. It was so bad, even local media were documenting and mocking it - *before* election day. And - bupkis.

Our system (on every level) proved completely unfit for adjudicating a presidential election with significant fraud and illegal and unconstitutional process, but that's something nobody wants to face, and even the least clueless default to "Average Joe voter doesn't get it or care" instead of facing it squarely.

534 What he did was mostly done by executive order and Joey Plugs began unwinding those immediately.

(pt 2 re Trump)

He said all the right things in 2016-17 but produced lasting results on few. And whatever obstruction the Legislative would produce, under Dem or GOPe control, he did have control over the Executive and he put in too many who'd sucked up to him early (Sessions) and too few executioners.

And he's done himself no favors since leaving office, too much about him and not enough about what needs to be done. Maybe he's learned a few things. Maybe not.

If DeSantis runs, I'm in his camp.

He did, and I get it. He needs to establish himself as the heir to Trump, however, and the only way he can do that is to run to Trump's right. Explicitly say that he would finish the job that Trump started. Nobody else in the GOP is embracing Trumpism for some surpassingly strange reason, and if he waits until later, it'll be a jump ball with NeverTrumpers in camouflage trying to coopt the movement.

He won't win if he runs, but he needs to lay the marker now. At this point, he's defined by the MFM. That needs to change if he's to get traction in 2028.

Yea, I've heard this argument. I don't think people make it sufficiently appreciate that he was under threat of impeachment from the day he was sworn in and had almost zero support from his own party in Congress. It's great to assume that Trump could have just said "This whole Russia thing is bullshit and I am shutting down the investigation" and assume there would have been no repercussions but I don't buy it.

I also don't think people realize how hard it is to fire civil servants. Comey was a political appointee and he was fired. McCabe was not and neither is anyone at the DOJ outside the US Attorneys he appointed.

It's great to say you are going to drain the swamp of all bureaucrats. Doing it is something entirely different. Firing civil servants has been designed to be extremely hard to do by decades of swamp creatures.

I agree that Trump pretty frequently trips over his own ego, but I think this particular approach makes sense. He should be making it about him. He's like a laser-pointer to the media and leftist cats. All they talk about is Trump Trump Trump, and that keeps him visible. I think we've already reached critical mass of people immediately dismissing negative stories about Trump from the MFM. That little-reporter-who-cried-wolf sentiment is a good thing for him. If he starts giving opinions on how specific things should be handled this far out from an election, that gives them not only more time to discredit the ideas rather than the man, but also more time to co-opt and bastardize his ideas and claim they were theirs in the first place. I know the logic is kind of convoluted and I'm probably not saying it right, but it makes sense to me.

GEORGE: You telling me that wine is better than Pepsi? Huh, no way wine is better than Pepsi.
JERRY: I'm telling you George, I don't think we want to walk in there and put a big plastic jug of Pepsi on the table.

ELAINE: George, we can't show up at someone's house with Ring Dings and Pepsi.
GEORGE: . . . . And I got news for you. I show up with Ring Dings and Pepsi, I become the biggest hit at the party. People be coming up to me, "just between you and me I'm really excited about the Ring Dings and the Pepsi. Europeans with the Beaujolais and Chardonnay . . .

603 No, it's not a "fun fact" that any significant % of the federal civil service "serves at the pleasure of the president". Not even close. Schedule C (last I knew, the "plum book" was under 4,000 jobs), a bunch of mostly unimportant board appointments, that's it. A president can utilize or isolate some people in some situations, which gives some control.

Yeah, but she got fired, but not for that of course. She failed to advertise in the required 50 some Pennsylvania newspapers some temporary amendment to the states laws that permitted victims of abuse * cough former Boy Scouts * to sue for far longer then the previous statute of limitations.

The trial lawyers in this state were not happy in waiting another year to collect 1/3rd of a few billions of dollars. Which is peanuts to some 90,000 victims, if one does the math.

606 Trump supported covid vaccines in the naive belief that the pharma companies were really trying to make something safe and effective, instead of being hand-in-glove with the Mengeles who built the damned virus.

Posted by: Alberta Oil Peon at December 21, 2021 01:30 PM

He was also obviously completely oblivious to the WEF's plans to use the Plandemic and the "vaccines" to implement The Great Reset and China-style social credit system in all Western nations.

Even worse is if he actually did know that and went ahead with supporting Fauci and pushing Operation Warp Speed anyway.

oh? read biden's eo # 14043- you get canned if no covid vax.
i am sure a similar eo covering fidelity, upholding oaths of office etc. could be written and used to terminate employees.

609 The classic in this segment is Franzia, which may have been first. The "box wine" meme started here as far as I know, as Franzia sucks but you sure do get a lot of it and it became something of a joke about, on and by yuppies.

Happy Birthday. Stay Classy. No wine from a box.

610 Trying to tighten the handle on my kitchen faucet. It's a single handle, lever style. The little set screw will not bite when I put the handle back in place. The set screw will tighten into the threads of the handle when it is not on the actual faucet. But when I put the handle back onto the faucet lever, the set screw will not bite into the threads of the handle. I have to back the set screw all the way out to get the handle back onto the faucet. Any suggestions??
Posted by: Doof at December 21, 2021 01:01 PM (mZUr4)

I expect the threads are stripped at the point the set screw tip hits the valve spindle. The handles are soft metal, brass in the good ones, zinc in the cheap ones.

A Helicoil thread repair is one solution. Drilling out the holes, and tapping for the next size larger set screw may also work, if the part has enough "meat" on it there.

I hate single-lever faucets, and always install the kind with separate hot and cold taps, when I have a choice.

612 The only CDC sponsored Ivermectin study gave it to people in hospital and on vents. It didn't work very well, because it works when given early on. Lots of other countries have had double blind studies given correctly.

Latest promising drug is colchicine, which people take for inflammation from gout.

613 Get this stuff: https://tinyurl.com/y34tjhd5

You have to have some fine snips in order to cut it small enough. I used it for a 3/8" #6 machine screw.

But so far, it seems to work.

614 I think Franzia wines started in Modesto, where Gallo is. But I can't check the location on their site to see if they are still located there.
