The GOP: It Is A Tale Told By An Idiot, Full Of Sound And Fury, Signifying Nothing.

The GOP (Grand? What a joke...) reminds me of the story about an elephant lounging around the savanna one day and all of a sudden he looks down and to his surprise and amusement, a mouse is busily humping his leg.

The mouse looks up and breathlessly says to the Elephant,
"Don't worry, I'll be gentle!"

GOP maps Biden probes, prelude to 2024 culture war

Does anyone remember a substantive hearing about political malfeasance on the part of the Democrats that actually led to something? I sure don't. I do however remember endless hearings with carefully orchestrated talking points and sound bites and 10 seconds of screen time for the Republican politicians who needed a bump in the polls for their election campaigns.

This may be the most significant difference between the Republican party and the Democrat junta...The Democrats do not care about the collegiality of the Senate or the House. They are perfectly content to cast aspersions and charges on their opponents across the aisle, and the veracity of the charges is of no particular importance.

And it is smart politics. The Democrats keep the Republican party back on its heels, unable to do much other than respond to often spurious and ridiculous charges.

"I Did Not Have Sex With A Goat!"

Gee Senator, thanks for that!

Lyndon Johnson famously ordered one his aides to start a rumor that one of his opponents f%*&ed pigs. The aide responded "Christ, Lyndon, we can't call the guy a pigf@#&er. It isn't true." To which LBJ replied "Of course it ain't true, but I want to make the son-of-a-bitch deny it."

Until the Republican party as a whole takes the gloves off and admits to itself that it and the country are in an existential war, we will continue to lose most battles, have a few draws, and every once in a while win one...usually on a Friday evening before a holiday.

Yes, there are refreshing outliers who relish the battle and are willing to fight hard. Marjorie Taylor Greene comes to mind, and there are a few others. Until the entire party embraces the fight, Greene will be alone in the wilderness, and so will we!

I honestly do not understand why supporting a political party that not only will not fight, but will actively collude with and support the left's actions and narratives is somehow 'better' than giving all power to the Democrats and have them destroy the country.

We seem to be arguing over whether it's better to go into the showers today or say, 'no, I'll take the Zyklon-B next week instead.'

I'm not even being sarcastic. A corporation is an organizational tool designed to limit liability and hopefully maximize earnings for owners. If you depend on a corporation to protect the environment or remediate historical injustices, you will be disappointed. It's like washing a window with a hammer. It's the wrong tool for the job.

A union is a tool for maximizing compensation and working conditions for its members. If you depend on a teachers union to educate your kids, or the UAW to make great cars, it will not end well. That's not what that tool does.

Are we using the right tool for the job?

I'm not sure what the right tool is, but like many people here, the sledge hammer is starting to look pretty tempting to me. I guess we could take a lesson from the Lefties. Soros got some real on the ground change with his targeting of DA races, maybe there is something to making local/small victories add up.

We can't simply cede the Federal issues, however. We are seeing new tools come to bear in the media battle, censorship be damned. Just as there are multiple power centers in our government, we may need multiple tools. The left has foundations who do the lawfare battles that prevent oil pipelines, etc.

I've made it pretty clear that I think voting is futile at best and the opium of the masses at worst, the few and far between 'victories' notwithstanding. The last tool we have before the gun is massive, nation-wide, sustained, overwhelming resistance. A national strike, a national boycott, whatever it takes to bring this phony administration and its handmaidens to their knees. A resistance to make January 6 look like the cakewalk it was.

Sadly, I don't see this happening, nor do I see violence from 'our side' happening, either. People's personal economies and lives are too precarious.

109 "Is the purpose of the Republican Party to implement Conservative policies or is it designed to raise money?"

Trump and a few others have won elections while being vastly outspent. That needs to happen more, as people realize the GOPe is serving the donor class (or worse, serving the globalist junta).

But 2020 showed the money that changes elections is not just about campaigns, it is actions like the Zuck spending $400million to "get out the vote" which appeared to include raw printing of fake ballots. The frauds in the machines (not just Dominion) is another avenue to buy elections.

But it does take organizing, community or otherwise. The current clarion call is to purge GOPe of traitors/seditionists that sell us to China, or the highest bidder. They need to hang actually, but they still control the machinery.

And moreover, that a demo unaffected by C19 in any of its variants would somehow benefit from efforts to "limit" its spread?? So when do 10-yr olds start getting their mandatory shingles vaccines, and flu shots, and pneumonia shots?

Oh.

It's the complete collapse of science on the institutional level that is perhaps the most terrifying and astounding thing the last 2 years.

Its also a proxy for enemedia exposure.

This was a major factor in my proposal to the GSA when they were bidding out measuring CoViD NPI compliance.

Yeah, I could use CV to monitor live public camera feeds and run that through simple data analysis - which would be suitable for measuring results, but forecasting is what they were looking for. In which case I proposed social and news media exposure believing that there is a very high correlation between exposure and compliance.

Several of my high paying clients who were looking for guidance on their office space polices in relation to C19 hysteria saw the high correlation once presented to them.

In short, their policy governing reopening had almost all to do with measuring fear saturation.

Cool. As far as the grid, "Shorting the Grid" is a very readable primer on the complexity of the grid, particularly from an administration standpoint.

My day job gives me access to an enormous wealth of data and a powerful platform to model geospatial-temporal data on an interactive globe/time-line control.

During the holiday fortnight, I'm focusing on capturing and modeling the real-time data on energy capacity, generation and consumption to as fine as detail as the data permits. I have wind/solar generation feeds, hourly wind/solar forecasting data, extensive powerline and pipeline data, now trying to get as much pipeline flow data that is possible. Pricing, consumption, temperature history... its going to be some work.

Oil can be manufactured. But we'd need to get past the progressive religion's insistence that carbon is bad and batteries solve everything before we consider its widespread use as an artificial energy storage device.

179 Anybody who thinks electric power can be created without a lot of petroleum consumed getting there is delusional. ... This is the Oil Age. When it's gone in a couple hundred years civilization dies.

Back in the day when power generation was more of a vertical industry whereas it has been "deregulated" which means that you have distributors and you have generators, occasionally one company might do both, but they are passed through an RTO that has a bidding process for who is going to get paid for the next five minutes of power generation.

What has happened is that no one is responsible anymore for resiliency. That is what Perry was fighting FERC over during the Trump Era of Plenty. FERC pretty much said Phuque Ewe to the American people because FERC didn't want to Name That Fuel (which obviously would be oil a/o coal).

Natgas comes in a pipe, can't be stored onsite, and generators follow homeowners for dibs on what dribbles through the pipeline during high demand.

187 As far as the GOP goes, the truth is that big donors run the party and those donors, by and large, only care about economic harm to their interests. They do not care about public education, borders, crime, CRT, the military, social issues, prohibiting abortion, fellow citizens in the republic, etc. They care about money and so the GOP goes. Essentially, it is 'I'm Alright Jack.' Once you understand that, then you understand the essential betrayal of its constituents--they are Lucy holding the football, and their voters are Charlie Brown trying to kick that ball again and again.

However, on the Democrat side, the big donors and the moonbats on the ground are on the same page. Only the financial industry that will take a hit from a depression really cares about fiscal responsibility--the techlords certainly don't.

If you notice, the only Republicans that are not borg like sellouts are those running their own funding--Rand Paul, MTG, Nunes to some extent, etc. Those that rely in packaged financing for them by GOP leadership/campaign finance are drones that will vote as told in order to make themselves rich.

Overall, I find the stark utter ignorance about how the modern economy and way of life work, or even are possible, especially WRT energy (among the masses, and people known in meatspace), to be amazing.

This of course provides the "basis" for the absurd make-believe energy schemes and concepts, and for such idiocies as thinking electric cars are somehow "environmentally" desirable (untrue, even when a real-world environmental framework, not an imaginary one, is used).

192 Furthermore, the auctions aren't just simple "who supplies", but there are all kinds of rewards and punishments, ways on how companies get paid, such where wind/solar has such incentives from tax rebates that they can and often bid zero or negative prices for each MWh - because they get paid through subsidies and through selling Carbon Credits.

it should be no surprise that the biggest investors in wind/solar farms is Amazon, Walmart, Apple, Facebook, and Google. All of these companies can use their social media empires and deep profits to buy politicians, manipulate stupid people and otherwise coerce ratepayers and taxpayers to get raped to give them their tax deductions in exchange for non dispatchable power.

I'd enact legislation that would force "Green Power" utilities to use solar or wind for their contingency ops. So, if your wind turbine needs a generator for some reason it must be a solar one. If your solar farm needs something similar, it must be a wind turbine.

I doubt the "Green Power" movement would last more than a couple years with that sort of constraint.

210 Reuben I'm also quite interested in the energy part of your research focus, though I'm having some trouble following your comments.

Most of my knowledge comes from reading papers and legal briefings because energy production/distribution is a profoundly over-regulated, rigged and fluid system that is mind boggling complex.

The book, which I have been whoring here "Shorting The Grid" is without a doubt the best book to at least be considered an introduction to the topic. It is a page-turner for non-fiction. The author could really use an editor, but it is readable, but far more important the book provides the reader with the vocabulary to better grasp the topics of all things relating to the power grid.

It tries very hard to not be political, which is a huge thing given that RTOs try to be resilient, but they are stymied with State policies and cross-border conflicts in policy and who ends up paying for the growing BS and overhead.

232 "The Real Anthony Fauci" (author is RFK jr) is for sale on kindle for $2.99.
Richly footnoted (more per page than I've ever read), it is a scorching critique of Fauci, not just as regards C19, but his whole career, during which time every major health hazard in the world became worse in the USA than in other nation.
Cancer, diabetes, TB, autism, birth defects, you name it.
During his watch life expectancy in the US declined, for the first time since records were kept.
And yet, he is the highest paid Federal employee.

236 My concern is that ERCOT is going to fail, and many of the popular articles out there after the Great Texas Freeze were food fights over the folly over wind.

But after research, the financial incentives are perverse in such a way that stored fuel energy generators are, in effect, punished for being resilient while the unreliables are given legal preference.

For example CCGT is nearly twice as efficient than simple gas fired generation plants, but because of wind/solar is so unreliable, the less efficient gas fired plants can spin up and deal with the sun/wind fluctuations and failures (CCGT not so much). So it ends up being less efficient than if the damned windmills were not connected to a reliable grid and we relied on CCGT generation.

Of course, nukes are probably the most resilient and best bang for the buck, but between policy and auction pricing schemes, nukes are being discarded because getting paid isn't just by delivering power, but also rate charge categories and distribution cost sharing.

38 days after its C19 vaxx became available to all, Moderna discovers that the virus mutates & that new viral strains are likely to be more transmissible. You'd think they'd employ some virologists there.

Jean Rees at_JeanRees10

The U.S. date that the C19 [vax] was open to all Americans was 4/19/21 (it varied by state -- but that was the official date, that everyone had to be opened).

38 days later and Moderna is already talking about waning efficacy of their [vax] that was supposed to be 94% effective? https://bit.ly/3J5xBn5

This is all political now. Sure, the medically compromised should always try to avoid infection, this is not new for them, but it's new to the media and to those who don't have such limitations. They can continue to isolate when needed. IMO, having the rest of us behave like we're compromised when we're not only slows the virus down, but will not stop it. It can't burn out when we keep feeding it more unexposed people in little amounts.

Where could I find that out?

246 This is why the closing of my essay back before Thanksgiving was "Unfortunately, the largest benefactor will be Kevin McCarthy".

The GOP is mostly useless. At least the Democrats will try to do what their voters want (even though what the want will lead to national extinction).

There is some hope, this year we have a record number of candidates who understand that this is war, and they aren't being asked to go to Washington to be collegial.

Also, the base understands more than ever before what a scam the GOP has been.

Unfortunately, next year they will win a majority in the House and Senate. And more than likely they will squander that victory with more failure theater. The only benefit is it keeps the most radical of the leftists from setting legislative policy.

If Trump wins in 2024, I have hope that he will better understand that it is better to fire every political appointee, than allow the backstabbing of his agenda. Because he has been shown to be very weak at personnel decisions.

Sure, they can score some sweet campaign cash from Big Tech who are the major investors/sponsors of Green, but it would be great to show how losing a nuke or a few major coal plants will crash the grid and cause rolling blackouts.

One would think that a politician would like to see why their constituents are erecting guillotines.

The Turnip will not give us his Souped-up Winter COVID Plan until Tuesday, as of now. Some of the Dem-Media Complex clowns are publicly wondering why The Turnip is waiting until Tuesday, if the situation is so ultra-bad.

Good question. It's the Junta's public statement Standard Operating Procedure for any crisis. They always take several days before sending The Turnip out to make a public address. It happened during the Kabul Bug-Out. The Junta needs time to get first-draft feedback from focus groups and key members of the Dem-Media Complex. Then one more edit-feedback cycle. Then the address can be finalized, and talking points for every Dem written and distributed.

Then, The Turnip needs time to do a lot of verbal run-throughs of the address (he's said a number of times this is his public speaking SOP; it is probably why he is always late for his speeches.)

Optics uber all!

264 " becoming heresy to suggest that all the idiocies and depredations and opportunity costs and self-inflicted damage in our society are anything except the devious schemes of shadowy forces, top-down, imposed on noble innocent citizen-victims"

Much of it is top down globalists taking advantage of the common failures of the masses. Technology and a quadrillion in shadowy derivative markets have given these globalists more leverage than ever, and it is being used to run the current "global coup" against "The West".

Power corrupts, imo there is more "nobility" in the common man than in the Soros/Zuck/Bazos/Gates oligarch. But sure, the masses should have produced more heroes ... should have resisted more 50 years ago. And more deep in government should have fought the DeepState more. ... But if we commoners need a common enemy, it would be the oligarchs/DeepState.

Manchin is in the proverbial catbirds seat, and there's nothing any Dem can do about it. (If there had been a single competent person in the dem leadership, they would have seen this coming)

Manchin dies or resigns? The Republican Governor appoints a Republican replacement.
Schumer and Biden and Pelosi attack Manchin viciously and threaten to kick him out of the party? Manchin quits the dems, goes independent and makes McConnell the new majority leader.
Dems suck it up and say, Yes Sir Mr Manchin, whatever you say Mr. Manchin? The progs throw a fit and kill everything out of spite.

That's really the entire point here. Already prevalent, highly infectious respiratory viruses are not appropriate targets for the (still mostly speculative) concept of "mitigation".

Community resistance (herd immunity) is not slowed or otherwise affected by measures that don't in themselves do anything.

The sad thing is that they lost a golden opportunity when the Vermont Yankee plant in your neck of the woods disclosed that they were going to close because there was no money in it (through the complex pricing and auction schemes).

The NE-ISO saw that the closing of this plant crushed their Winter Reliability plan and tried to make all kinds of deals to re-establish it since it won against the legislature to close it for political reasons, and also was recertified.

But because the convoluted pricing schemes and how the plant was going to be penalized under the Peak to Peak distribution contribution racket, they closed anyway.

Again, thanks wind. And thanks for being such a complex subject that the GOP couldn't understand it or build a campaign around it.

297 Overlooked in this post is the core issue, which is that the GOP does not represent us, are as a whole not particularly conservative, and have much more in common with progressives. As such they see their role in DC more clearly than we do, which is to be the amiable dunce Washington Generals to the D's Globetrotters.

Never forget that while the D's hate us and want us dead, the GOP holds us in contempt, but only hates us during election time when they have to "pander to the rubes".

Well, that's my .02 on the big differences in the parties

While the rest of your comment is spot-on, I don't think - unfortunately - that this part is correct. Simply a matter of how the intended and legit, and de facto existing, process works at the moment.

Congress cannot, in a practical sense, force the executive to follow the laws nor to enforce them. Not in many key areas and in the short term, that is.

Just one example: borders and sovereignty. 98% of what Trump accomplished in this area was without, or over the active opposition and sabotage, of Congress (including "his own" party) - he arguably even went unconstitutionally rogue to get $$$ for the border barrier system. Anything short of veto-proof majorities in both houses - and even that - leaves execution of policy in the administration's hands. And that means continued, complete abandonment of rule of law, and common sense, on borders and immigration.

But if you want to feel good today, search online and look up what Biden and Psaki are saying about Manchin - they are spitting nails, and the beautiful parts are that a) they never saw this coming, even though anyone who was paying attention saw this day coming years ago, and b) there is not one damn thing they can do about it.

Joe Biden's Presidency has failed. 11 months in, and he's already a lame duck, and his "agenda" is dead.

Posted by: Tom Servo at December 19, 2021 02:02 PM (evAgx)

327 Reuben perhaps over-generalization/simplification (but not really), but there is nothing the least bit difficult about establishing and running a power system vastly less costly than the current frankenstein. With some exceptions the earlier iterations of this system of systems worked just fine, and was fairly cost-efficient. It's not rocket science.

Price signals are no less dominant as the only important guiding principle here than they are in any other area of economic activity.

If actually applied now, this would most likely mean lots of clean coal plants, nuke generation/water desalination plants in CA, and natgas as the surge/back-up fuel where coal wasn't as cost-effective. Rejiggering the current mess on the basis of ridiculous fake "costs" and "prices" that are almost entirely regulatory artifacts can only yield less-worse, not much better.
