When ten parents wrote a joint letter to the NCAA and to UPenn protesting the insane policy of allowing Buff Jacked Dudes to beat the crap out of girls in physical sports, UPenn told them to "take advantage" of the school's "robust" psychiatric resources, as well as their LGBT support services.

The university sent a terse response to the parents, claiming the school is doing what it can to help the student-athletes navigate Lia's success, shared a link to mental health services.
'Please know that we fully support all our swimming student-athletes and want to help our community navigate Lia's success in the pool this winter,' the university replied. 'Penn Athletics is committed to being a welcoming and inclusive environment for all our student-athletes, coaches and staff and we hold true to that commitment today and in the future.
'We've encouraged our student-athletes to utilize the robust resources available to them at Penn, and I'd like to share them with you as well,' the school wrote the parents, providing links to 'counseling and psychological services, the LGBT Center, Restorative Practices and our Center for Student-Athlete Success staff.'

We were a dual Navy couple, and after we'd been engaged for a bit, she said she wanted to keep her last name.

Which was actually her EX HUSBANDS last name. I said, no, if you are not going to take my name, then why get married at all. So, she took my name.

Then, after 4 years of marriage, I found out she was screwing around on me, so Divorce, where SHE DID NOT WANT TO GIVE UP MY LAST NAME. Facepalm moment, luckily I forced it in the Divorce decree.

Young people:
1 - Aren't taught about Western Culture, at least nothing positive about it.

I'm of mixed opinion on this. Granted, yes, it is painfully weak and ghey, but maybe it's a better alternative than when the wife just keeps her maiden name and doesn't take the husband's name. I've known some couples like that, and it never lasts. My theory is that if you get married and the wife keeps her maiden name, that means that she doesn't love him enough to take his name, and he doesn't love her enough to give a rat's ass. Kind of a red flag, I'd think.

Mrs Boswell did not take my name when we first married. I didn't care really, we were both in our early 30's and had our own careers and assets we had accumulated up to that point.

But later, it just became a pain in the ass for her when she quit work to have children - buying a house, getting banking accounts, investing...so she changed her mind, and took my name. We've been that way ever since and very happy.

Technically, Spencer Churchill (the surname of the current Dukes of Marlborough) is a double-barrelled name, just without the hyphen (like Ralph Vaughan Williams). The first Duke had no sons, so his son-in-law was allowed to add the Churchill name to his own. The Earls Spencer (Diana's people) are a collateral line.

It started as "Becky", then all the white folk started using that, so black folk said "shit, we need a new one", and "Karen" was born.

I can see the raw nerve about language appropriation. It must be exhausting for black entertainers to keep having to reinvent their language week to week just so they can speak distinct from the white people they hate so much. A friend of mine when she got married did some research and found that there were many things like that where it is easier to be Mrs X than some lady Y because it is the default assumption, so she put it on the form as taking it and didn't use it at work.
