Unexpectedly, Producer Price Index Rises by Nearly 10%, the Fastest Rate in 11 Years
Jen Psaki Blames the High Cost of Meat on "The Greed of Meat Conglomerates"

The unexpected surge in the Producer Price Index is a real "unexpectedly" because this exceeded analyst expectations. They projected a 9.2% increase.

But Let's Go Brandon, huh?

The Producer Price Index measures the prices for goods bought and sold by, well, producers, rather than consumers.

It's more expensive for producers to produce, which means it's more expensive for consumers to consume.

Odd how that works!

Prices charged by businesses for goods and services purchased in the U.S. rose 9.6 from a year ago in November, their highest annual pace in records going back nearly 11 years, the Labor Department said Tuesday.

Screenshot (983).png

If that graph looks alarming to you, don't worry: It's fake. It's a hallucination.

Or it's caused by Gouging and Price-Fixing by Big Meat.

At least that's what Jen Psaki is claiming.

Lady Braniac over here just told us al that the high costs of meat were not due to Brandon's out of control inflation -- caused by his out of control spending, injecting the economy with literal trillions upon trillions of fake new dollars chasing the same (or shrinking) pool of goods -- but due to "meat conglomerates."

Thus it always is with Marxism: When their Marxist schemes result in immiseration and catastrophe, as they always do (and always must), they blame Saboteurs, Wreckers, Hoarders, and Foreign Agents for undermining their miracle 5 Year Plans that would have succeeded if not for the manipulations of Greedy Kulaks and Big Meat.

After demonizing the "Wreckers," the next step, of course, is weaponizing the government to "crack down" or arrest these Subversives who are unpatriotically sabotaging the brilliant Marxist 5 Year Plan.

We're not at the "arrest" them phase. Not quite yet. But we definitely are at the "legally harass" them phase. Maybe sic the DOJ on them, on a politically-motivated fishing expedition for a pretextual price-fixing investigation.

Let them know that their King expects them to cut prices and take no profits -- and maybe run a loss for a year or two -- to get the King's popularity up to 45%.

Or there will be... some official unpleasantnes.

Psaki also just told us that the CBO's projections about the real costs of the Build Back Bolshevik bill were all a Lie told by Running Dog Capitalist Lackeys.

In fact, every disaster you think happened under President Disaster Pants is a Lie you've been told by Running Dog Capitalist Lackeys.

Noam Blum

Lab leak? All in your imagination
Gain of Function? All in your imagination
BLM riots? All in your imagination
Afghanistan disaster? All in your imagination
CRT? All in your imagination
Self-defense? All in your imagination
Inflation? All in your imagination

You're just crazy!

Note that, below, Doocy asks a good question. He knows that Jen Psaki has a prepared answer to the obvious question, so he asks an inobvious one: If the Build Back Bolshevik bill is serious about all this social spending expiring after one or three years -- which is a lie, obviously-- will President Ice Cream Cone "commit" to that? Will he promise to keep to that sunset schedule?

Of course she blows off that question and just runs to her rehearsed one.

And she calls the CBO analysis a fake analysis of a fake bill.

But by not committing to really guarantee that the bill's social spending will expire in one or three years, she's in fact confirming the CBO is actually analyzing the real bill.

thank to it's me donna for that memory.

>>>"Why are ribs and bacon so delicious, but pork chops are kinda meh?"

Two reasons, IMHO. First, fat. Fat tastes good, and ribs and bacon are loaded with the stuff. Chops, not so much.

Second, preparation. Because they're leaner, chops needs to be marinated or basted, then cooked more slowly over a lower flame. I usually baste my chops with olive oil that's infused with rosemary and garlic, then cook them very slowly in a ribbed pan. Leave just a hint of pink in the middle. I serve them with home-made pear sauce: delicious!

Definitely the fat. Fat is delicious and juicy.
And the blood. The red blood/juice in red meat is delicious -- it's like nature's marinade.

Pork blood isn't even red. It's yellow. Not right.

297 Here is the choice:

Deflationary depression (would result if Fed did a Volcker, with added beneft of federal govt. default): bread costs 15 cents a load, but you don't have any money to buy it.

Inflationary depression (stay the course). Bread costs $100 a loaf, but you only have $50. You still don't get any bread.

The only difference is the value of the currency. You can either have little valuable money, or have a lot of worthless money.

299 One of the truly saddening realities in the food service industry is visiting Costco and Sam's Club around the first of the month.

You see individuals of the Asian and Hispanic persuasion pushing multiple carts packed with meat and cheese. They then process payments for said carts with EBT cards. They then turn around and sell said meats in their restaurants.

So while you are paying your taxes at your restaurant, your competition is buying their product with your tax dollars and undercutting you on prices. It's truly depressing.

Consider that the next time you go buy the Speedy Gonzales #2 combo at your local Mexican restaurant. Hopefully it makes you choke on a tortilla chip.

Why corporations would want this liability when they don't need to make these mandates is beyond me. But Big Business ALWAYS seems to have good reasons why they need to support far left causes that no one except a handful of blue checks on Twitter are demanding.

There's a famous law case where a company would only hire women that had their tubes tied because the chemicals they were around would cause birth defects.

Company lost the lawsuit. Seems a lot of parallels here.

==
Some idiot lawyers think that if they can exhaust the jury by the time the defense get up the jury won't be listening. This is, in fact, incredibly stupid. Still. I have seen some lawyers do everything in their power to do this. Even a tired jury would perk up, if they realize, after a witness or two. The defense lawyer will get up and in 5 minutes get everything out they actually need to know. By the end of the case, they will sleep through the first party and wait for the second party to make sense of it.

310 High gas means we need to go to electric cars. High meat prices should make us vegetarians. Right? Right?

The vegetarian part is going to be a bit of a problem. Animals are remarkably well suited to take land that has little to no utility in growing crops and efficiently converting grasses and other non human edible plants into nutrient dense food (aka 'meat'). No need to grow soy and insects and then run them through an energy intensive industrial process to make some phuqued up frankenfood.

But by also killing the so-called "fossil-fuel" industry, they are also pricing natural gas out of the market for critical functions such as making fertilizers. With all of the wasteful corn growing for ethanol fuel, a process that quickly depletes the land which must be replenished with fertilizers, they are creating a famine.

Feed can be brought to cattle in case of regional droughts, but crops need CO2, land, water, fertilizer and equipment and can't grow in drought areas.

I don't think there's that much exposure. Proving causation in the context of pharmaceuticals is not an easy thing. No medical causation, then no harm from any mandate. Given the lack of data transparency, and the political incentives not to publish epi studies suggesting these vaccines are dangerous, will probably be fatal to claims. Plaintiffs aren't going to be able to get there based on adverse event reports.

Posted by: sock_rat_eez

Most of the materials in feed apart from supplements are grown in the US. The confusion probably comes from some pet companies, in order to bolster profits, import additives from China. That is how dogs and cats got poisoned a few years back.

Cattle can also be grass fed during the growing season and hay after that with relatively few minerals etc. Sometimes feedblocks that contain molasses plus other food supplements are put out depending on how good your hay crop is. Then, there is silage that can be made onsite along with field covers for off season planting like clover or vetch.

FWIW, CAT, cattle can digest dried and processed poultry manure among other things as the chickens do not process all of the feed value into meat/eggs.

Forage crops can also be planted as I mentioned above.

The truth is the corporate farming generally does not fully use the land and the old timey farmers are quite competent at using most of the land to produce crops, meat, milk, and have a truck farm for human consumption. You work with what is common in your area.

My BiL has a small herd of cattle. They graze on grass, and also get grain at least twice a day (which they love).
He is also not making a killing of any sort. He probably does a little more than break even on raising cattle. He does it more as a sideline, and because he can liquidate a few head and get cash when he needs it. I think he looks at his herd like a bank account he can draw on.

Container shipping prices have gone through the roof in the last year. On routes all over the world.
You're right, with the ships parked, waiting to unload, they really aren't making much money. Which is part of the shipping inflation conundrum.
Also, diesel prices and usage in Australia and much of Asia are going to be in trouble, because the Australian domestic maker of Urea is shutting down for .....reasons.
Urea is part of the solution mixture that is used to treat diesel exhaust on tractor truck rigs. No urea, air pollution problems that will make the government shut it all down. And then people starve.

Mostly the processors but with cattle, small guys are increasingly selling direct to consumers and both the consumer and producer benefit. Would not be surprised to see small slaughterhouses open back up.

You can, with the right planning, make a subsistence living at farming but most people don't want that kind of life, even farm families, because it requires labor from sun up to sun down. You can't borrow money for such and often the other spouse has a job with benefits, etc.

I come from a farming family, had relatives in the feed business, and did agri crop and farm surveys for the USDA during schooling to help pay the bills.

That's not actually the problem. The problem is this administration has put rules into place making productivity terrible. Therefore we have a mismatch of money to productivity, which is causing the inflation, the money that is out there isn't as valuable.

Gold has nothing to do with it. Money is a marker for the issuing entity's (in this case the USA) economic productivity. The gold standard caused just as many problems just with different mechanisms.

Posted by: Ben Had

You can feed clover to cattle but you have to do it carefully and supervise their feeding. Can't let them do it unsupervised as they will bloat from overfeeding. Using a trocar on a cow is not a pleasant thing to do.

People do it around here along with planting hairy vetch and other cover crops. Winter wheat depends on weather and processing facilities around you. I have seen some that use it for forage if wheat prices are lousy. Double cropping around here is generally what is done with soybeans and winter wheat. Due to defoliants, cotton ground is pretty much cotton ground. Corn requires a good water source and rich land but grain sorghum is a more drought resistance alternative. Rice has requirements that are all of their own.
