Peace In Our Time: Biden to Allow Germany, I Mean Russia, To Take Parts of Czechoslovakia, I Mean Ukraine, With Promise that Hitler, I Mean Putin, Will Stop All of His Territorial-Expansion Behavior Soon

Biden will press Ukraine to basically accept that the Donbas region, which Russia has troops in, has been successfully conquered by Russia and is now part of Russia.

But as a face-saving measure -- to save Biden's face and no one else's -- the Donbas will be called an "autonomous region" which is under no one's control.

Except, you know, the actual Russian troops that actually control it.

Again, this does nothing for the Ukraine, as it cedes their territory to Russia. It does nothing for Russia, as it pretends away their victory.

This would only be a "victory" for Joe Biden, and only a PR one at that.

In addition, while Biden will pretend to refuse Russia's demand that NATO never admit Ukraine into NATO, behind the scenes he's telling Ukraine... that NATO will never admit Ukraine into NATO.

Our foreign policy is down to Democrats begging Russia, "Please do not make this too humiliating for us, because we have midterms coming up and we're already going to lose a lot of seats. And you guys remember -- we were always your close ideological allies before we pretended to be your savage opposition starting January 20, 2017."

Administration officials have suggested that the U.S. will press Ukraine to formally cede a measure of autonomy to eastern Ukrainian lands now controlled by Russia-backed separatists who rose up against Kyiv in 2014. An undefined "special status" for those areas was laid out in an ambiguous, European-brokered peace deal in 2015, but it has never taken hold.

Biden also will have to finesse Ukraine's desire to join NATO. The U.S. and NATO reject Putin's demands that they guarantee Ukraine won't be admitted to the Western military alliance.

But senior State Department officials have told Ukraine that NATO membership is unlikely to be approved in the next decade, according to a person familiar with those private talks who spoke on condition of anonymity.

For Biden, the challenge will be encouraging Kyiv to accept some of the facts on the ground in eastern Ukraine, without appearing to cave to Putin -- a perception that could embolden the Russian leader and unleash a fresh line of condemnations by Republicans as Biden's popularity is already in decline.

Our "foreign" policy under Democrat presidents always, always devolves into a purely domestic policy psyops operation aimed at deceiving the American public for the political advantage of the Democrat Party, begging foreign regimes and the propaganda state media to pretend that everything's going just swell when things are falling apart and that America is winning when America is being humiliated.

Hey everybody --

Remember when any policy decision with respect to Russia short of declaring physical war on a nuclear-armed country was proof positive that the president was under the direct control of the KGB?

I remember, because I'm older than four years old.

Screenshot (930).png

Meanwhile, delusionary neocon chickenhawks demand that we do go to war with Russia, with the hollowed-out, ineffectual #Woke military and the divided country-in-anarcharic-chaos which they helped bring into being:

Screenshot (931).png

Tell you what, we can put boots on the ground in Russia so long as the first boots on the ground belong to PFC Noah Rothman and PFC Jim Swift and of course Generalissimo Bill Kristol.

I will totally, rabidly support war with those conditions.

Oh, and I want video. Draft the Young Turks team as war "journalists" (LOL) and have them report from the front lines.

45 There's no real strategy here because we have no strategic options. This is a binary choice: do nothing, or launch a military campaign on another continent in winter against an adversary on home turf. Does an expansionist Russia justify the latter? Perhaps, but I sort of doubt it. Could we reasonably go down that road with a chance for success? I doubt that, too.

But those are the only choices because we've ceded any other strategic response. Russia holds Europe by the balls on energy, and we can't fill the gap. Last year, we could have made a credible claim to be able to do so (albeit at outlandish expense), but now we can't. We can't control enough of their economy and the deep state hates economic sanctions anyway. Economic responses are off the table. Ukraine has so much graft flowing through it that leadership on this side doesn't want to touch it, so we can't even use them as a pawn.

We have zero strategic options. Our own brain-dead and insane policies along with our corruption and ideological and operational rot has made this into a binary choice. Europe got its way: a strategically-stymied, weak America. They can now bask in it.

And I don't approve of the US making any statement of any kind here. We already made our abandonment of Ukraine abundantly clear during Obama's reign of error.

But, more importantly, the United States has no influence anywhere. Pretending we do makes us look ridiculous. Better to say nothing and be thought a fool, etc.

We need to stay out of this. And all things everywhere. There is no upside to any hostile foreign engagement, diplomatic or otherwise. At best, we embarrass ourselves when everyone laughs and walks away. At worst, G-d forbid, we end up in a war, that we will not and cannot win.

We had no business making an agreement to defend your borders. You certainly shouldn't have disarmed. Sorry you trusted us. 93 I hate that man Joe Biden. I really don't understand the whole obsession with Ukraine is though. Nearly half the country is Russian. 20 years ago people in Russia were asking why the Ukrainian border wasn't changed after the fall of the USSR. Basically russia had shit for power back then and the west wanted as much division as possible. And thst makes sense given the hell the soviets inflicted on the world. What the West didn't see was that the boundaries of the soviet republics were culturally meaningless. Russia seeded the republics, or colonized them, with Russians. They sent the native populations east.

The Russians and the Ukrainians have been at daggers drawn since forever. The Ukrainians - who in many respects are similar to our Texans - finally semi-succumbed about 300 years ago, and made a deal with Russia that left Ukraine sorta semi-autonomous, with the condition that Ukraine supply Russia with cavalry: the Cossacks.

135 One of the downsides of the progs' rejection of objective reality is that everything to them is either a talking point or a magical talisman.
They believe the US and the west have unmatched military might, therefore it is so, and they will operate on that belief until those so believing get removed - either by foreign adversaries, or by ambitious domestic progs who have successfully "made" a new prog reality by consensus and displaced the previous orthodoxy.
This is why they consistently faceplant on what should be simple tasks in the real world. Unlike the CCP - which *knows* when they're creating "reality" by decree and does so deliberately - NOTHING is real to the progs. Their constant internal jousting over made-up realities and gaslighting of outsiders has created a political ideology that is amazingly effective at grabbing power - but then can't wield it competently.
What we are seeing is a complicated interplay between Obama factions ("US influence needs to be destroyed") and Clinton/neocon factions ("US influence must be used ham-handedly to line our pockets and fuck 7 year olds"). A lot of the latter group doesn't realize they're being set up here by the former.

good summary, I agree. But because they don't understand the reality of what they're doing, if it ever comes down to a situation that calls for actual force to be used, they will always surrender without firing a shot. That's what unrealistic people do when they run face first into reality.

And this would be why the "smart" people in the Dem party are all about trying to negotiate some kind of face saving giveaway, because they realize that the only other option they have is unconditional surrender to whoever is challenging them.

172 Disclaimer: don't expect me to read the f-ing post carefully. it is 3:30AM here and I am too tired to make coffee yet.

This sounds like typical FJB policy nonsense.

The reason we have claimed Ukraine is not fit for NATO is because of their conflict with Russia. How can we invite them in when NATO is all about mutual defense against Russia - it would mean a commitment to war.

The reason for Ukraine to find a settlement would only be to get into NATO.

So FJB takes the bad stuff from column a, and the bad stuff from column b and build a policy that accomplishes nothing.

It's as if he does not understand the situation at all.....

Ukraine is a giant grift ATM. The only reason there would be a war would be to save the grift. If the Russian's leave half the Country in place, that keeps the ATM running. So no war. And also, provides incentive to sell that half more weapons which makes defense contractors happy. Plus, Putin agrees to not spill his info on Hunter and gets his 7 billion back etc etc. Its a win win. Unless you are an ethnic Ukraine living in the wrong half.

We fucked up in failing to oppose it at the start, and - perhaps - in making the promise. It would have been much better for our (by our, I mean actual Americans, not Globalist cunts in DC) interests for Ukraine to retain their nukes.

The really sad thing here is that even with all the justified historical loathing of Russia on the part of Ukraine, they're likely better off being subsumed under the Russian umbrella. 228 Ukraine as a NATO member was effectively ruled out quite a while ago. It was never going to happen. However, privately saying it behind closed doors, and publicly announcing it, are two completely different things. While I don't endorse sending US troops to Ukraine if the Russians invade, there are plenty of tools that Biden has that don't involve our own military.

If the information in the post is correct, then it's an horrible mistake. We should be sending Ukraine more Javelins, and threatening to turn every soft power tool at our disposal against Russia instead of rewarding Putin for causing trouble in Donbas for the last decade (roughly). The Russians shot down a Malaysian airliner over this conflict, and now we're patting them on the back, and saying, "Great job, guys!"

A part of me wonders if this deal is an attempt to punish the current Ukrainian president (who is a former comedian elected in a populist surge) for attempting to investigate the corruption of his predecessors... and one Hunter Biden.

And this would be why the "smart" people in the Dem party are all about trying to negotiate some kind of face saving giveaway, because they realize that the only other option they have is unconditional surrender to whoever is challenging them.

I think the smarter Progs are concerned about the potential to seriously get our ass kicked - that whoever is nominally calling the shots *won't* back down. Some want it kicked, but only moderately so, to put us in our "proper" place. The sort of one-sided wins we've had against Russian mercenaries in Syria are largely not in the offing in Ukraine against regular Russian troops, and not likely against the Chinese in their AO either.

This is not something super visible outside the military, but most of our combat arms formations have stagnated over the last 20 years.

Not that it's interesting to anyone but me, but Stan Laurel, despite his character of a hapless, child-like boob, was actually the brains of the team. He came up with most of their routines, wrote scenarios and gave directions to Hardy, who was happy to just show up, do his bit and go home.

Kino International put out two collections of Laurel's solo work prior to teaming with Hardy. They're hit or miss, but some of them are very funny. I happen to be a fan of 1918s Just Rambling Along:

I do not think we have enough components left of our ruling classes that are capable of going toe to toe with the Chinese and winning. Ironically this is the result of the Soviet-backed long march through the institutions, and the Russians are only hanging in because they bit the bullet and ejected the western hucksters and have a pile of nukes leftover to deter the Chinese.

An audience has expectations. When an actor comes on stage and points to the cue card guy then to the fake set, it upsets the audience's expectations. Unmet expectations lead to an emotional response. Why can't he just say his lines play the character he is supposed to play!!! Some in the audience dont like the play and want to see it get taken down a notch. Others love it. Others, wish for a different ending, but they don't want a different ending if for that to happen if it means the fourth wall is broken. Restore the norms!!!!

I see some of that here with commenters--expectations against Trump are in part because he followed the law and judicial rulings and thus was weak himself.

The unspoken assumption by those commenters is that any president elected from the right will have to operate outside the law, much as Lincoln did, in order to smash the left. This is essentially conceding Lincoln's argument was valid that he had to operate outside the Constitution's prohibitions because the Confederates were aiming at destroying the most important part of it--the Union itself.

That memorandum similarly reflects that the defendant told these employees that he was not representing "a particular client." 407 Sorta related side note;

20 years ago we got caught out LARPing as the pre-eminent world military power. Sure, nobody could really compete, but we were going through the motions and doing cargo cult nonsense. You'd have things like MEU's out on ships that didn't have even a single days' worth of batteries for their night vision in supply - stuff like that. It was hollow.

Then a short ramp up with large scale ground ops, and then a decline again. A few lone voices in the wilderness in some combat arms units are seriously dealing with things like enemy drones and autonomous weapons, private snuffy carrying personal electronics, proper multispectral camo, not running around with active IR like you own that spectrum, etc, but largely speaking we are setting up for an amazing drubbing if we are not careful. Our troops are doing a lot of the things that got the Armenians and Ukrainians clobbered.

606 The Ukraine from 6 years ago when Russia last invaded is not the Ukraine of today. I fully expect a full-on invasion by Russia to be a bloodbath, and Putin knows it.

Ukraine's military has been bolstered heavily with materiale from the US and NATO, and it is much larger than it was. Ukraine was not in a position to resist Russia 6 years ago. Today, that is not the case.

Additionally, the primarily Russian-speaking, Russian supporting areas like Donblas and so forth, are easy conquests to hold, since the populace is friendly to Russia. The remainder of Ukraine is not nearly so friendly, and I suspect that taking Ukraine, proper, will result in asymmetrical warfare that will bleed Russia white, just like Afghanistan did to them in the 70's.

Unless Putin is a complete moron, he's after Donblas, and that's it.

As much as I hate to say it, Biden is correct here: US troops should absolutely not be involved in that conflict. Donblas doesn't care if their Russian. Russia isn't going to invade Ukraine, outside of that specific region. This isn't a war worth fighting, and it's not a war worth a single drop of American blood.

746 has only four whole=number factors (746, 373, 2, 1), does not have a square factor, and is itself the sum of four consecutive numbers (185 through 18. There is no vital American interest at stake in the Ukraine. Furthermore our military has been gutted to the point where I doubt we could even win a war against a regional power like Russia. IMO, what Putin wants is A) permanent control / access to the Black Sea and B) a 'pledge' of neutrality by the Ukrainians (e.g. - NO NATO ALLIANCE) and things will (probably) calm down. Frankly, Putin has bigger fish to fry (like China muscling into the 'stans with the Belt & Road thing, not mention their noising around the edges of Afghanistan).

Russia's chief source of woes are to the south and (far) east; having a stable western region (European Russia) is a MUST. Given Russia's penetration into EU's energy infrastructure (thanks Biden / Obama / Merkle), Moscow is NOT worried that the EU is going to march on Moscow any time soon...FFS, the EU can't even manage the muzzie invaders they stupidly allowed in.

Russia has lusted after an all-winter open port for its entire existence.
Posted by: Christopher R Taylor at December 09, 2021 01:58 PM (KZzsI)

True, but Sevastopol is kind of a shitty strategic port for military use. The port facilities are fine, but it's buried so deep in eastern Europe that it's kind of useless as a military base. The Russians would have to send their fleet through THREE straits (Bosporus, Dardanelles and Gibraltar) before getting into truly open sea. Hell of a gauntlet for their shitty navy to transit.

On the other hand, as a commercial port, it would be a serious asset. The location and straits that traffic would have to transit are less of a problem for commercial use.

Maybe not an admission so much as their lawyers "repositioning" them for any lawsuits where FB claimed to do fact checks but were really censoring conservative thought, which they knew to be factual.

"Opinion Assertions" (and insertions) are just "Free Speech", not slandering conservatives by calling their truths lies.

645 There is no vital American interest at stake in the Ukraine. Furthermore our military has been gutted to the point where I doubt we could even win a war against a regional power like Russia. We certainly couldn't take on Russia and China at the same time, which I suspect is what that conflict would devolve into.
Posted by: Ernie McCracken at December 09, 2021 02:26 PM (Xt3H6)

Let me tell ya how this game works - we gotta scream "WE NEED TO ACT NOW!!! " and we gotta tell the Biden Admin "you are Betraying the Blood of all of our Patriots! You sir are betraying America unless you do something to stop it RIGHT NOW!!!'

Now we know Biden won't do shit, and we can hang this around his admin's neck like a flaming south african tire. Worst case - he's actually stupid enough to try something, and it fails miserably, and he looks even worse!!! We can't lose!!!

oh and when we take back over, our first line of business will be to point out "Well that ship has sailed, it's far too late to do anything about it now." Easy peasy, barely an inconvenience.

659 As to the Kiev / Kyiv thing, that's simple... Kyiv is the original name of that city (before the Russ 'incorporated' the Ukraine into 'Greater Russia'. Kiev is the Russian renaming of that city. And yeah, there's a LOT of bad blood between the Ukrainians & Russians...genocide, forced deportations, etc.

Folks in that part of the world have looooong memories, so don't expect anybody to 'hug it out' anytime soon. And as you might have guessed, the main troublemakers in the area are Russians who 'bussed in' to replace the Ukrainians that were deported / killed decades ago.

The whole region is an ethnic minefield that's best left alone... ProTip: tell the neocons to STFU and let the locals work it out. That'll keep the bloodshed to a minimum.

660 We wouldn't have to put boots on thr ground if Obama didn't remove the missile systems were promised countries like the Ukraine and Poland, and Biden didn't stop any arms deals we had with them. We were setting countries up to protect themselves, but these idiots wanted to side with Russia instead.

I'm conflicted because i don't want to see US troops in Europe fighting for Europe, but i want to see dead commies. Too bad no European nation will do anything, since they are all indebted to Russia and they'll look the other way, just like when Russia blew up an airliner and no one did shit.

664 It's called reality. There is absolutely nothing the U.S. can do to stop Russia if it decided to invade. Russia has the power to completely destroy any military resistance if it decided to invade.

The fact is that Russia doesn't want Ukraine. Its only concern is the rabid neocons who want to use Ukraine as proxy to attack Russia.

The only reason we're in the this mess is because of the neocon who supported a coup that overthrew Ukraine demcraitily elected government. If they want to start WW3 they they can grab their guns and go over there themselves as far as I'm concerned.

666 If you are not willing to go to war no matter what, what difference does it make how Biden capitulates, other than to score points political points just as he doing?

One thing though, if Russia is Germany, Ukraine is Czechoslovakia, and Biden is proclaiming peace in our time, remind me how that worked out afterwards.

Especially since China will be playing Japan with Taiwan playing, well, China, and this repeating itself when Xi sees how easy it is. Again, how did that work out for American interests when we had a weak military and pushed back with economic sanctions and demands to cease expanding?
