Sefton: sefton at cutjibnewsletter.com | Has-Been Former Child "Star" Who Hasn't Worked in Years Tries to Cancel Dave ChapelleNo one has ever liked Wil Wheaton, ever. >>>47 Who the f*ck is Wil Wheaton? I know who he is? But who the f*ck is he?Netflix is defying the Trans Ban on Dave Chappelle, making him the host of a comedy special. Wil Wheaton is not only demanding that Chappelle be fired, but that any comedian appearing on this special also be #Cancelled. After condemning Dave Chappelle’s remarks about transgender people in his most recent Netflix special, actor Wil Wheaton has apologized for his own past homophobia. “For much of my teen years, I was embarrassingly homophobic, and it all started with that comedy special,” the “Star Trek: The Next Generation” alum wrote in a Facebook post, a reference to Eddie Murphy’s 1983 standup show “Delirious.” In the lengthy social media post, he detailed a moment when he was young and said a slur, referencing gay men in a locker room — a room full of gay men, no less. He said he was “embarrassed” and “horrified” and still “thinks about it all the time,” offering up an apology nearly 30 years after the incident. Then he turned to Chappelle’s comments in his controversial Netflix special “The Closer.” “For a transgender person, those ‘jokes’ normalize hateful, ignorant, bigoted behavior towards them,” he wrote, then turning to those who defended Chappelle seemingly because he is a person of color. “And it’s all okay, because they were dehumanized by a Black man. And the disingenuous argument that it’s actually racist to hold Chapelle accountable for this? Get the f–k out of here.” Comments(Jump to bottom of comments)1

Certain celebrities -- or former celebrities, or " " " celebrities " " " in Wil Wheaton's case -- jumped on Twitter early. Really low-value people like Chrissie Tiegen.
++++ It was immediately a weird kind of pseudo-credibility. At the beginning, I remember Larry King and some other CNN person in a public competition to be the first to get a million followers. That number was the goal, and would determine which of them was better. It doesn't matter. It never has mattered. But for some reason that follower count on Twitter (even more than the "friend" count on Facebook) was steeped with the false impression of value and worth. I watched the Chappelle special in question. From what I understand he's been a lot harsher in the past, but it seems what really pissed off Woke Inc is the fact he basically laid the blame for a trans friend of his killing herself because Woke Inc tore into her for defending him at some point.
So it's nothing Chappelle said about them, OTHER than stating the fact that these people obviously don't care about actual trans folks, but only those who subscribe to the Woke Inc religion. Posted by: BurtTC at December 09, 2021 12:25 PM (YV6PJ) 36

There is no such thing as "transgender". All humans are either inherently male or female. You can't change your chromosomes. It's a biological impossibility.
Anyone even using the term "transgender" is participating in a delusion. They have psychological issues which prevent them from intellectually, and factually litigating absolute, demonstrably provable truths. We call that a "psychosis". Don't blame me. Blame the natural world and fundamental scientific truths. Ultimately, it's why you hate God. He doesn't participate in your unrealistic, fraudulent, evil delusions. And barely any of this "Twitter fame" extended very far away from Twitter itself. Yeah, Twitter's biggest lie has always been that you can BE SOMEBODY by nudging up against Important People with BLU CHECKS! that respond to you or even -- heaven -- retweet YOU!!! Wesley wasn't in, or featured in, that many episodes of ST:TNG. Yeah, okay, a lot in the first couple of years. After Wil, and his character, grew up some and he became part of the bridge team, he was a lot easier to take.
To a degree I was glad he was there. It usually meant scenes with his mother, Beverly (Gates McFadden), the hottest doctor in Star Fleet history. Once he left the ship and she stayed, I didn't miss him. Would the character of Wesley have been easier to take if another actor had played him, and if he had been named something less wimpified? Twitter is fading as a force now, thankfully, and Twitter no longer elevates zero-grade non-celebrities into Twitter "Stars."
There will be no more Jake Tappers for liberal Republicans to fall in love with, thinking "Oh my gosh, we're both on Twitter, maybe we can be best friends some day! (Or maybe we can be more than best friends!)" ++++ This may be true, but it is because one of the odd attributes of social media at the beginning: openness. The platforms were open to all and a lot of stuff grew organically. The Twitter celebs exploited their networks to grow phenomenally and reenter people's minds. But way more than them, a lot of people got as big or bigger than these guys exclusively in those networks. That openness, however, is now over. The platforms are fading to some degree, but they won't be replaced. The last decade has seen gigantic consolidation among infrastructure players. If someone wants to try to replace it or return to openness, they'll be stymied by the big players like Amazon and Microsoft and Google. We are in a way back to the 80s. Walled gardens and top-down control, just bigger. Posted by: Joe Mannix (Not a cop!) at December 09, 2021 12:29 PM (DU+/6) 73

"I have come to the conclusion that I must continue my work as attorney general," James said on Twitter, adding that she would instead run for re-election. "There are a number of important investigations [read Trump] and cases that are underway, and I intend to finish the job," she wrote.

>>>This may be true, but it is because one of the odd attributes of social media at the beginning: openness.
Walled gardens and top-down control, just bigger. ... True. Still, the "i'm going to be friends with a celebrity" stuff was always stupid. Posted by: ace at December 09, 2021 12:32 PM (0G13K) 105

cis = not trans het = heterosexual Posted by: ace at December 09, 2021 12:29 PM (0G13K) ++++ I think it is very subtly different from that. It isn't to marginalize normal people so much as it is to normalize abnormal people. They built all these groups and mechanisms and invented this new ecclesiastical language to describe the deviants. This had the effect of layering precision into the description of deviance, but it had the effect of explosive growth in the number of ways one could be "other" but without reducing the "otherness" of all those narrowly-defined groups. The application of the language of deviance to the conditions of normality is more of an effort, I think, to recast the deviant as normality rather than to recast normality as deviance. Apparently Gene had waited his entire life to stick his own avatar into one of his shows, and he went all the way with it. ---- It's almost entirely a fashion trend. People who actually have gender dysphoria try to blend in as much as possible and not make spectacles of themselves. Roddenberry's vision of the Star Trek universe was unusable as a television show, which contributed to how awful the first few seasons were. Under its new management Twitter will push to be the forum for woke corporatism and state-media.
While Twitter sought to expand its user base by "selling" the concept of easy access to celebrities, what really got Twitter going was independent citizen journalism. The "arab spring" videos, etc. With its new media policy, Twitter will have none of that, unless it supports what state-media is saying. cis = not trans het = heterosexual
== More technical (of time) closer to the present. "cis-Elizabethan" Proximity "on the side nearer to" "cis Alpine" was side of alps nearer to Rome. Cis heterosexual is used like a veiled slur. But I think it means more like closer to the "norm". As if to say heterosexual orientation is sort of a thing closer to the present/now, current or closer to orthodox. ie closer to Rome. But that's tote's a judgment call on my part. Its a weird usage and probably not fully understood by almost all the people using it now. The grand thing about ST:TNG when it was new, was that you didn't always know how the story was going to play out. We were used to Kirk, the Alexander the Great of Star Fleet, the guy who would find a way to slash open the Gordian Knot. Picard was different. Look at "Darmok," the counterpart to ST:TOS's "Arena." We still quote from that episode.
Also: Not everything always got resolved in a happy ending in 50 minutes. Remember the story of the people who had deliberately removed gender from their society, but there were still those who had male/female feelings in secret; and one of the female people has an affair with Riker. At the end, he cannot save her from being brainwashed into being a "happy" no-gender drone, and returns to the ship, a sadder man. Posted by: Wolfus Aurelius at December 09, 2021 12:46 PM (txdEq) 241

TNG had some great ideas, some good episodes and moments, but was pretty terrible overall.
Q was fun. The Borg were a terrific enemy. Barclay or whoever it was using the holodeck to virtually bang all the chicks on the Enterprise was a hoot. Klingon politics with figures like Gowron were fun. The Darmok episode was dumb but still very entertaining. But overall? Picard and Riker were wimpy metrosexuals. Data's quest to be human was dull. Troi's and Guinan were terrible characters even in concept, and would be utterly loathed but for Wesley's much higher loathsomeness quotient. La Forge, like most of the other men on the show, desperately needed to use the replicator to brew up some testosterone supplements. Can you "normalize" what is considered *normal*?
"Society is homophobic" is what the intersectionality would say. Therefore, nothing is "normalizing" "homophobia" it simply is the norm, and expressions of "homophobia" are expressions of a social norm. I never knew Wil Wheaton was trans. Is he trans? He must be, right? I mean, who would be so insightful as to determine the depths of offense that a gender-confused person would and order the cancellation of a whole swath of the public for holding an opinion based on observation -- unless they, themselves were similarly gender confused? Surely, it can't be that an actor whose last role was an annoying pubescent in an otherwise interesting show would dare to realign "normalcy" on behalf of a phenomenon that he has no personal stake in. That would just make an insufferable, arrogant ass, speaking against millennia of biological fact.

Captain we've been attacked by aliens! The most fascinating thing about twitter is how huge corporations bent the knee to the demands of moderate mobs of lunatic shut ins. Has there ever been a real twitter boycott that actually succeeded? I know corporations surrendered without a fight. But I mean has there ever been an instance where a corporation said "fuck off" and the twitter mob won and damaged their business? The few examples I am aware of - Chic-fil-A and Hobby Lobby - were catastrophic failures for the geek cult lunatics, and if memory serves, their business increased when they told the Twitter mob to get bent. Are there any counter examples?

---- I kinda disagree, what I've seen is the first season is usually trash bc they have "big ideas" that "aren't fleshed out" and then they hit their stride. So...Parks and Rec Season 1 was supposed to be about Pohler but that sucked so they retooled. Obv TNG season 1 was trash. And the Office Season 1 was garbage lifted from the woefully awful british show (like episode 1 firing Pam for a joke). and then again, I think Friends S1 was pretty good and gathered steam..Community was perfect from the beginning. and that's all the TV i've seen. Yeah, J Rod's insistence that the federation be post-scarcity and without currency never made sense. I think a few episodes here and there mention "transporter credits" or something to govern public use of transporters.
The energy requirements of the replicators would practically force some kind of currency (or rationing). Posted by: Revenant at December 09, 2021 01:17 PM (C35Jn) ST: Picard established that replicators use "omniprotein" and that different types have different effects on the quality of the food. Additionally, it was long established that replicators created approximations at best and had to be tweaked. My theory is that for food, replicators work by basically "printing" out the item using a few basic templated patterns. For example, a chicken breast might consist of a segment of cooked meat repeated multiple times into the shape of a chicken breast. An apple would consist of patterns for the flesh, skin, etc. This saves computing power and memory space. High end replicators can get close, but are still imperfect substitutions. Low end public replicators might provide a basic menu of "gruel." Posted by: Colorado Alex in Exile at December 09, 2021 01:26 PM (wmDcS) 530

Hence why Picard's family still runs a vinyard: you can't replicate wine easily because the complexity of flavors and texture from fermentation is difficult to replicate. It would be like adding Everclear to grape juice and calling it "wine." For higher quality items the emphasis is still on naturally created. When those aren't available, people pay a premium for a high end replicator and someone who knows how to tweak it.
For industrial applications, you still need to harvest the raw materials needed for replication, and it may make more since to manufacture using traditional methods rather than a more time consuming replicator route, especially for simple items or large-scale production. Posted by: Sponge - Michael Byrd MURDERED Ashli Babbitt at December 09, 2021 01:19 PM Women's sports for me are basically like watching high school sports, whether boys or girls. Compared to professional men's sports, they're all slower and less skilled. Which is fine. I go into watching those sports knowing that's what it is. What is annoying is the claim that women's professional sports are just as good as men's professional sports. And that they "deserve" the same acclaim and the same pay for a much worse product. You don't pay the same professional pay for a product that is at the level of high school sports. If women's sports were the same level as men's sports, there would be no need for women's sports. Because they'd all be competing in the existing sports leagues. Posted by: Clyde Shelton at December 09, 2021 01:45 PM (Do5/p) 543

----------------- ...which is lazy story-line baloney. Wine is a mixture of chemicals. Once you know what chemicals are present, and in what concentrations, all you need are those chemicals to "replicate it." Even if it's something very very suble, only a few ppm...if your original source was properly analyzed and recorded, making unlimited quantities would be easy. Thinking of a replicator as some sort of next-level 3D printer that works on a molecular level and has all base elements available as raw materials - the wine inside the bottle would be the easiest part to make. Far easier than the bottle itself, or the cork. Not dogging you, just the plot hole. Posted by: reason at December 09, 2021 01:46 PM (o0WIV) 545

Posted by: Heavy Meta at December 09, 2021 12:28 PM (NgqoH) Because it's being treated as a real disease. It's a fad. Like colleges girls going bi in their sophmore year. And it fed all sorts of inner turmoil. Then the jocks discovered that they could really make it pay off. Get back at all the girls siphoning off money from the guys sports when no one cared about girls sports (except skating) and no one went on to the pros. So they got back some of there's. Meanwhile the Dems were able to exploit all of this and make the straights take all the nonsense seriously and it warps their brains. Posted by: jakee308 at December 09, 2021 01:47 PM (1hoTV) 546

I don't think adding women's leagues into video-game sports is going to go so well.
Assuming these games are made accurately, where the players represented in-game have the same general performance as their real-world counterparts (skating speed, ability to change direction, shot power, liklihood of making a shot, liklihood of blocking a puck, etc...), then this is going to be a disaster. EA will be putting front-and-center into the hands of everyone who buys the game an immediate method of directly comparing / contrasting male and female athletes. It may not be as pronounced in hockey, I have no idea, but it wlil be OBVIOUS when this is done to the soccer games. MOMMY MOMMY LOOK I CAN NOW PLAY AS MEGAN RAPI....why is she slow Mommy? I rather liked Wil Wheaton in "Stand By Me". The writers for "Star Trek: the Next Generation" didn't know what to do with most of their characters. He's actually appeared as an actor in 110 separate screen productions since 1994. That includes 19 films, six made-for-television films, 49 television series, three miniseries, and 33 other sorts of production. He's appeared in that time in about 170 episodes of conventional television series and mini-series, and that doesn't count his appearances in new media like podcasts, video games, &c. Don't care for his politics and have hardly seen him in anything in > 25 years, but people do pay him to perform. He's had a mess of credits just this year.
