The Morning Report - 12/3/21

hoganklaushero.jpg

Good morning, kids. The weekend is here and you'll all be thrilled to know that the GOP drew a line in the sand and said "enough!" by rejecting the raising of the debt ceiling and tying it to any potential vaccine mandates.

Psyche! Of course they caved, as if you expected anything but kabuki theater followed by a bukkake "happy ending." And of course, brave Joe Manchin flexed his man-chin to declare:

"In the midst of the [Chinese] COVID-19 pandemic and as the new Omicron variant emerges, I will not vote to shut down the government for purely political reasons. There is too much at stake for the American people. But let me be clear, I do not support any government vaccine mandate on private businesses."

In the immortal words of Henry Mancini, "where do I begin?" First, everything that is done in Washington DC IS politics. Second, we are already trillions upon trillions in debt with no way of ever paying it back, let alone the trillions in interest on the borrowing. Third, the government is NOT the economy. At least not yet despite the anti-American left driving us off that cliff. Fourth, Manchin just voted to give the government and its bureaucracies the blood money it requires to impose its will on the American people whether we like it or not. Fifth, the fact that Joe Manchin, despite being from West Virginia, is still a Democrat, and worse, he and not a Republican is the one making this statement, transparently and laughably phony as it may be, is just the bitter end.

And this segues perfectly to yet another infuriatingly clueless pundit supposedly on our side who rails against the GOP, phony conservatism and -- you guessed it -- Trump.

If Trump returns to the White House in 2024, and the Republicans regain power, this will be a rallying call for the Left as it was when Trump was elected in 2016 and as it continued to be throughout Trump's administration. The zealotry of #TheResistance succeeded in defeating Trump and his party. There can be no doubt that, had [Chinese] COVID happened in, say, Hillary Clinton's final year in office, we would've had a very different 2020 -- Democrats would've wanted to get reelected.

To those who will doubtless object that my case against Trump in 2024 and what's become of the conservative movement is defeatist and that I am an appeaser of the Left, I don't know what else to say. My entire point is that the defeatism and appeasement of the GOP and Conservatism, Inc. is what brought us here. Those of us who have supported them throughout the years should at long last abandon that support.

How many disappointments, betrayals, and failed promises do people need to endure before they say, "Never again?"

It is amazing how a smart man like Jack Kerwick makes absolutely zero sense whatsoever. He's blaming Trump for being surrounded on all sides by Deep State traitors, most notably from within his own alleged party as well as krony korporatist frauds who pretended to be outsiders, for their malfeasance, criminality and collusion (heh) with the globalist leftist enemy.

Look, Donald Trump for sure has his faults, his biggest one being the same as we all had: blindly trusting that certain crucial institutions were beyond being corrupted by the left. Seriously, as cynical as many of us are, could anyone have believed that the DOJ/FBI and CIA would actually work hand in hand with both the Democrat Party and actual foreign intelligence agencies both friend and foe alike to overthrow TWO separate elections? This is the same DOJ that still imprisons scores of innocent Americans on trumped up charges of insurrection and treason; the same DOJ that has labeled concerned parents as "terrorists" for opposing the mind- and body-rape of their children. The same law enforcement agencies and sadly individual police officers who protected their pensions and jobs rather than life, limb and property as scores of cities burned in an orgy of Democrat/local government sanctioned looting and arson as a means of political intimidation and terror. Same deal with the terrorist attack on Waukesha. Same deal with the persecution of Kyle Rittenhouse who tried defending himself and fellow citizens from same. And on and on and on.

And could anyone have believed that the CDC, NIH and the other seemingly non-political agencies were not first and foremost concerned with the health of Americans and not money and power as well as helping a sick, evil g-dless totalitarian empire in the PRC actually use our taxpayer dollars to create biological weapons? The same CDC and NIH that has used the mercifully relatively harmless Chinese COVID as the greatest psychological weapon in history to traumatize an entire population into surrendering its freedom and handing over a shattered economy to government control?

No, Mr. Kerwick. Trump is for all intents and purposes to my way of thinking blameless for what was done to him and in point of fact to all of us. Now that said, whether or not he is the ideal standard-bearer going forward is another matter and one that we are going to be debating more and more as 2022 and 2024 approach. For sure, the GOP is not only dead but is every bit the enemy of the people as the Democrat Party. America as founded is dead. I do not even think we can go on as we did before with regular order, elections and all that because one side (with both parties) is anti-American to the core and wants to destroy the last vestige of the old Republic and those of us who supported it.

It is time for a second American Republic. And while I revere the original Constitution as a truly Divinely inspired document, it's Achilles heel is that it required very flawed human beings to respect its proscriptions and practices. We all know what happened since its ratification, especially over the past 110 years or so. That is the Gordian knot if you will of a free society; how does one preserve a free society when truly evil human beings will use those very freedoms as the means by which to enslave us? If there is a second American republic, which no doubt will have to rise from a sea of ashes, we'll have to figure how to solve that in the next set of founding documents, lest we lather, rinse and repeat all over again.

And speaking of ashes, look at what the hell is happening in Germany and Australia.

Merkel announced the measures after a meeting with federal and state leaders, as the nation again topped 70,000 newly confirmed cases in a 24-hour period. She said the steps were necessary to address concerns that hospitals could become overloaded with patients suffering from COVID-19 infections, which are much more likely to be serious in people who have not been vaccinated. . .

. . .The country has an almost 70% vaccine rate. I don't know if Merkel will require the unvaccinated to wear anything for identification. But I have a feeling they'll have to show their papers.

You know, Germany. Yeah -- . . .

. . . Australia continues its overreaction to [Chinese] COVID. The police in Northern Territory (NT) arrested three teenagers for allegedly escaping a "voluntary" quarantine camp. Have you seen these camps? It looks like Jonestown.

The three teenagers will likely face more time in quarantine despite them posing a low risk and testing negative:

He said the escape could mean an extension of the time the teenagers were required to stay in quarantine. "Absconding from Howard Springs isn't just dangerous -- it is incredibly stupid," he said "Because we will catch you and there will be consequences."

Another man escaped a few days ago. They're investigating the incident because no one could want freedom, right? Now they're installing more CCTV cameras in the camp.

About those three teens who escaped from Stalag Woolamaloo? Get this:

All three teens tested negative for [Chinese] COVID the day before they bolted. They never actually HAD the China flu. They were locked up for coming into contact with someone who had it."

Kyle Rittenhouse is one thing, and it's a big one. But if you really want to know why we have a Second Amendment, look no further than the absolute abomination that is happening in Australia. G-d help this illegitimate junta and any of its enforcers if they try this shit here. And G-d help us.

In that light, I want to wish a very happy Hanukkah to you all of you, not just the members of the Tribe. A festival of light and of life - and of miracles - when all around is darkness, is something we can all use right now.

25 SAINT OF THE DAY

St. Francis Xavier (1506--1552) was born in his family castle in Navarre in what is today Spain. While studying in Paris he met St. Ignatius of Loyola and joined him in the foundation of the Society of Jesus. Instead of devoting himself to academic pursuits as he had planned, and in which he enjoyed great success, he became the first Jesuit missionary priest. His missionary activity began in Goa, India and extended across the Orient. St. Francis Xavier was known throughout the Far East for his humility, care of the poor, and miracles including healings, speaking in tongues, and prophetic powers. His passion for Christ and zeal for souls won him many converts to the faith. It is said that during his missionary journeys he baptized over 40,000 people. He is considered by many to be one of the Church's greatest missionaries since St. Paul the Apostle. In his travels he left behind flourishing churches that were the foundations of the Catholic Church in Asia. He is the patron saint of navigators, missionaries, African missions, India, Japan, China, and New Zealand. St. Francis Xavier's feast day is December 3rd.

minor quible with this JJ, we KNOW PDJT isn't the ideal standard bearer for conservatism, but he seems to be the ONLY standard bearer for conservatism at the moment who is willing to make a presidental run.

does that change in the next 2-3 years? possibly, you've got MTG, Boebert, Darth Santis, and a few others. we might have options. but we might not.

It's not about needing a government to look after you. It's about setting down guidelines so that the government doesn't lord OVER you and that you respect the rights of others like you.

Never a set of precepts before in history like it. It's only flaw, as stated, is it requires the morality of people like you and me to respect what it means and stands for. We do. Too many do not. And they are in power.

There is no element of COVID that is free from the stain of politics, from its financing, its origins, its release - accidental or otherwise - the response to it, etc. There has perhaps never been a more political event in modern history.

We know things are bad -- worse than bad. They're crazy. It's like everything everywhere is going crazy, so we don't go out anymore. We sit in the house, and slowly the world we are living in is getting smaller, and all we say is: 'Please, at least leave us alone in our living rooms. Let me have my toaster and my TV and my steel-belted radials and I won't say anything. Just leave us alone.' Well, I'm not gonna leave you alone. I want you to get MAD! I don't want you to protest, I don't want you to riot, I don't want you to write to your congressman, because I wouldn't know what to tell you to write. I don't know what to do about the depression and the inflation and the Russians and the crime in the street. All I know is that first, you've got to get mad! You've got to say: 'I'm a human being, goddammit! My life has value!' So, I want you to get up now. I want all of you to get up out of your chairs. I want you to get up right now and go to the window, open it, and stick your head out, and yell: I'M AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GOING TO TAKE THIS ANYMORE!

Just look at who we have in Washington driving us to absolute financial and social ruin. Just look at all the ground the hard left has captured. There is no rectifying it. There is no toothpaste going back in the tube. These people are not ever going to give up ground or come to their senses. This entire country is so FUBARd and we have to admit that. There's no going back. The only way out is to reestablish ourselves and our freedoms within a new republic.

86 NYC's Tenement Museum Faces Backlash After It REPLACES Story Of White Irish Immigrants With Woke Tale Of Black New Jersey Family Who Never Even Lived In The Lower East Side Building

The Tenement Museum is facing backlash for scrubbing the history of the white immigrants who inhabited the building on Manhattan's Lower East Side with stories about black and other races that never stepped foot in its now-hallowed hallways.

Chief among the complaints is the museum replacing the story of an Irish family who resided at the building at 103 Orchard Street in the late 19th and early 20th centuries with that of a black man -- who worked near the building and lived in New Jersey for much of his life.

When the museum opened in 1988, it was devoted to re-creating the immigrant experience of the more than 7,000 people who inhabited the 22 apartments in the five-story building during the 19th and 20th centuries.

The vice-foreign minister Xie Feng, in charge of managing China's relationship with the US, also urged against political boycotts of the upcoming Beijing Winter Olympics, saying it harms the interests of athletes and was "unpopular".

Key business groups including the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai and the US-China Business Council, met Xie at a virtual forum on Tuesday, according to a transcript of his address.

What we have *now* is doomed. It's too unstable and corrupt. What we had before - a republic based on rights, transparency, fairness, etc. - is already dead.

The past six years - and particularly the past two - have been the end of the world. This doesn't mean your cities fall to ash or the world stops turning or the sun blows up, but it does mean the world ended. Today is not like yesterday. The world hasn't ended since the late thirties and I have no idea what it will mean this time. But thoughts about "the world as we know it" are wrong. The tense is wrong. It's the "world as we knew it."

I don't think there's any point in things like "saving America" anymore. America is over, as is everything else. The real battle is over what comes next and what we turn into.

I'm not against a 2nd republic or some other option but that does not get rid of the millions you point out are driving us to ruin. They would still exist and are spread out everywhere that makes it impossible to separate from them. That seems an intractable problem I have not heard any solution to.

Agreed. It is tempting to write "burn it down" but this needs to be done in a more orderly way so our people do not suffer too greatly. It was good to see DeSantis starting to form an independent military in Florida, for example, and the first governor who builds a system of weapons of mass destruction has my support. Slowly, then suddenly. D.C. can be choked off gradually and made to want to separate. It is also a psychopathic garbage regime and the place most likely to harm you and your loved ones.

Kabuki theatre used to inspire anger. Now it causes laughter, which actually is a positive development.

Grifting pieces of shit like McConnell, McCarthy, Pelosi, Schumer, whatever, are symptoms rather than causes. It is the pimps who tell the Administrative State what to do, not its dutiful whores in front of the cameras and behind the cameras.

I think we're at a point where we're talking past each other. We must have some form of government, evil that even the most benign form of government still is, in order to ensure the functioning of a civil society. The Constitution is or was damned good. It is the people that are flawed who trashed it.

132 I'm not against a 2nd republic or some other option but that does not get rid of the millions you point out are driving us to ruin. They would still exist and are spread out everywhere that makes it impossible to separate from them. That seems an intractable problem I have not heard any solution to.

--

Oh, I agree Ripley. The most difficult task of all is figuring out how to accomplish a second American republic. How do we get out of this festering burned out cinder? It's a question I have no answer for. Rudimentary speaking, I've held hope that states are the key. Starting the full break with the federal gov't. All states have leftists polluting the citizenry. I get that, and without excising those people, it's a futile effort. My rose-colored glasses hope leftists, who clamor so hard for their ideals, will only want to live in states that reflect those (polluted) ideals. And vice versa. Again, I have no answer, but I do know that this cannot go on.

166 Government should be minimized, but acts as a moderating force which is why all groups of men have one. And all men are, at least to some degree, social creatures. Some moreso than others, but every man has to find some way to work with other men.

This is why anarchy is a doomed system, just as doomed as other utopian ideals. Men *will* organize because they have to because they work together. Anarchy does happen from time to time, usually in the aftermath of a system failure. And what happens after anarchy surfaces? It vanishes. Something replaces it extremely quickly, usually by force. "Do as I say or you will die" is the crudest form of government, and usually the first. In a power vacuum, a strong man will fill it. Sometimes - rarely by historical standards, but it does happen - great men try something new that works better. We tend to call those periods "progress" or "golden ages."

But anarchy as a durable notion? No. It doesn't work and it can't work. The guy who can pick up the heaviest pig will become the forcible strong-man dictator. It happens every time.

185 Taxpayer Funds Went to Democrat-Led Attempt to Overturn Iowa Election

Earlier this year, Democrats utilized the power of the Committee on House Administration to formally challenge the results of the close election. The Democratic majority on the committee paid law firm Jenner & Block approximately $699,294 to attempt to overturn the results of the election. In response, the Republican minority paid another law firm, Jones Day, around $126,942 to defend the results of the election. These totals were revealed by committee records that are freely available to the public.

In addition to the amounts spent on the services of the rival law firms, the committee's ranking Republican member says that additional costs of challenging the election were not taken into account in the congressional records.

When the "stagflation" of the 70s happened, it was a surprise because it was impossible. Economic theory (largely but not exclusively Keynesian) didn't allow for it. It took everyone by surprise and they were left holding their dicks and unable to act until someone else fixed the problem.

Then we spent the 90s and beyond playing a different game of economic management. The new theories don't allow for this kind of inflation, either. It isn't supposed to happen. The Fed opens and closes sluice gates, the government directs capital and everything is fine. Debt and money are no different, all debts self-liquidate, trees grow to the sky and good times are here at last.

The current theories are wrong, too. They're learning that now.

Perhaps. I by no means discount the possibility and at this point I think I would like to see China make a move like that just so we can settle affairs and determine how we're going to proceed.

But COVID enriched the people who would be expropriated in such an action, and expanded those people's power.

213 the Dallas high school incident - it's astounding that no one realized that if you send a few cops in to try and get control of a big crowd of angry teens, some of them are going to start some shit. Guaranteed.

also, the case that started the protests, a girl was molested and the boy who did it was given a pass by the administration; we don't need to know anything more than that to know that the girl was white, and the boy was black, which was why the school was terrified of saying anything to him about it.

214 Not anarchy.

Free men.... Do NOT answer to anyone for defending themselves. Free men do not seek permission for violence. Free men do not have others act in their stead....because if they do.... They are not "free."

Let's just start by correctly defining what freedom is and is not. Shall we?

We're NOT free.

"There is only one basic principle to which an individual must consent if he wishes to live in a free, civilized society: the principle of renouncing the use of physical force and delegating to the government his right of physical self-defense, for the purpose of an orderly, objective, legally defined enforcement."

265 One of the more cogent analyses of Hayek vs Keynes economic theory I've read relates to the future; Keynes was gay, with no progeny.

So. He was clearly in the YOLO camp. He had no future, his line was dead, and his theories reflected that. Party on, dudes.

No surprise that the Dems seized upon that; they don't give a fuck about the future either, only that they steal enough to last thru the Tough Times for them and theirs. See Pelosi as a prime example of this.

The fact that she's even talking about stuff like this shows you how wrongly decided Roe v. Wade was.

These debates about when life begins, and if recoiling from painful stimuli is a sign of conscious life or not, don't belong in the supreme court; these debates belong in legislatures. Legislatures are supposed to be the law-making organizations in our system, NOT courts.

If Sotomayor wants to run for the state legislature in her home state, or if she wants to run for congress, and make arguments about when life begins in the womb so that she can justify some abortion law she's proposing as a lawmaker, that's fine. But she has no damn business doing that as a judge on the supreme court.

I literally don't care if I'm the only person not wearing one, and I don't care if I get yelled at or have to leave places - and the ONLY time that happened was when I went to vote. in that case I made them get me a mask (I don't carry them, not ever) and I put it on my hand so I was technically wearing it. lol.

anyway the mask people want everyone to be the same as them. WE are not like that, so I don't care if I'm the only person unmasked. I tend to overall ignore the mask people. they have chosen to be less-than, so I don't need to worry about them.

"Tragically, it took conquest -- facilitated by the Europeans -- to transplant the indigene into the historical process by inserting him into the civilization crucibles of Judeo-Christendom, with its emancipatory moral narratives and an evolving political philosophy that discovered, recognized and protected the inalienable rights of man. These include freedom and liberty, the right to the pursuit of happiness, freedom of conscience and speech, the right to bodily integrity, and the right to property."

JJ to your question - governments (of any type!!!!) simply must be SMALLER in scale. they are just way way way too large. and if only we break up, and China doesn't, that's also a problem b/c they will happily take over the planet.

but the trouble isn't with the systems - I honestly think a wide range of them are workable. it's with the scale. too big. way, way too big.

not sure the solution - hoping China collapses isn't really a plan, now is it? and we've been awaiting that for a long long long time. many two weeks have passed.

384 290 Sen. Shaheen to SCOTUS: "If You Want to See a Revolution, Go Ahead, Outlaw Roe v. Wade"

-
That's a legal argument if I've ever seen one.
________________

It's also a pretty good indication that she has no friggin' idea how the court system works, or even whose interests she represents.

If the supreme court decides to limit or reverse Roe and allow either the MS or TX abortion laws to stand, that will not "outlaw" Roe v. Wade, nor will it "outlaw" abortion rights. All it will do is allow the states to regulate abortion without the restrictions imposed by Roe. Some states will respond by imposing more restrictions, but most states won't. And lefty states like NH will certainly not.

So since Shaheen's constituents are New Hampshirites (or whatever they call themselves), why does she care if Texas or Mississippi women have to go out of state to get a later-term abortion? That's not her business. She does not represent those women, and if those women feel imposed upon by their states' abortion restrictions, then they can vote out the state legislators who imposed them.

---------------

I'm optimistic America's system is working ... to some extent. Our federalist system is so wonderfully unique and brilliant. Being subject to two governments will provide greater protections for liberty than just being subject to one. This is sort of playing out ... if slowly. It's easy to say move, but harder to actually do it. But if red states continue to be free and blue states get more draconian, we will see more flight to red states that are a bulwark against the national government. History doesn't happen in the blink of an eye. It takes time to play out. Its not perfect, but it is what we have. Our federalist system is maybe the most brilliant aspect of the founders Constitutional design.

They're all unique.

There's a struggle going on in the capitol city over control. There are inside and there are outside forces. None are "on our side." IMO there will not be any sort of revolution or other kinetic type action until that struggle is complete and we find out who/what we're facing. Right now it's a huge clusterfuck with way, way too many possible targets.

415 We have the best system right now. Nothing needs to change. It's a moral issue. As Madison said.

We have a Cold War era police state thats entirely too big to be constrained. This insistence that "our system is fine" is a big part of the problem.

This shit was all built under the guise of "safety and security". First from the Soviets. Then from domestic terrorism. And now from the plandemic. Our current system is anything but fine.

I don't give a damn how "moral" anyone is who is given the keys to this police state - the results will always be poor. I need much, much less of all this "good people doing good via government".

417 If the supreme court decides to limit or reverse Roe and allow either the MS or TX abortion laws to stand, that will not "outlaw" Roe v. Wade, nor will it "outlaw" abortion rights.

--------------

I'll give them credit. If the Court honestly takes abortion away from the federal government, they know it will be restricted ... even in the liberal states eventually. Abortion is a losing issue for them once laws start getting passed and enforced. That's a minority opinion, but true. Only a few lunatics actually support partial birth abortion. But many support Roe. Gut Roe and you start putting reasonable restrictions in place. Once you do that, it is only a matter of time before those restrictions make it to the liberal states.

Then you can start making the rational argument that the federal government should prohibit abortion all together. The pro-lifers will be on the offensive.

Roe is the bulwark holding this sea change back.

Its the perfect argument for Roberts. Above all - he fears the loss of the reputation of the court. She just let him know if he throws out Roe - he'll be ignored. Roberts won't risk being ignored.

Thats why he saw ObamaCare are as a tax. Because the Dems would have went ahead anyway - thus crushing the mystique of the courts.

432 Ultimately we just have to get it through our heads that, as the US grew and time went on, the nation itself--not just its government--became too large. It may have made sense for the original 13 colonies in 1789 to bind themselves together, but modern California, Florida, Texas, and New York? Let alone Alabama, Wisconsin, and Massachusetts?

The states--and the peoples in them--have simply grown apart. I do not believe they can, or should, co-exist in a single polity. The would-be hegemons will naturally refuse any loosening of the grip, and will not do so willingly--or peaceably.

It is not advocacy to acknowledge the inevitable.

440 My God that Kerwick piece is an absolute abomination. Problem #1, as stated here, is conflating the GOPe and Conservative Inc. with Trump is a failure beyond redemption. If you can't see that Trump had literally nothing to do with either of those entities, responsible for exactly the failure and betrayal the author complains of for 2 decades before Trump even ran, again, you're beyond redemption. Nevermind that the GOPe HELPED the Democrats and the #Resistance undermine Trump at every turn and not only did nothing to stop the steal, but actively participated in it.

Furthermore, I looked into Kerwick and he seems to have a bit too much David French in him. I'm not anti religion and have actually come to view religion in a new light where the benefits of religion help develope sense of morality that you don't owe to God, but to your own community. But the people who seem the most hell bent on telling everyone else how being as Godly as them is super important seem a bit on the fake side. Like, not actually conservative, but trying to fit in while they cover for their abject immorality by overcompensating. Think kiddie diddling priests.
