  • Will Twitter become an ocean of suck? (Matt Taibbi)

Twitter CEO and ornamental hermit Jack Dorsey has resigned and everyone is wondering what this means for the world's favourite digital sewer, since he was - not kidding - leading the charge for freedom of speech as much as there is such a thing at Twitter.

I respect Matt Taibbi as a reporter but I think he's being hopelessly optimistic here. I can't think of any force that could raise Twitter to the level of merely being an ocean of suck.

Yeah, I'm allowing recent hits as well as the 1979 chart, for a bit of variety. Fair amount of suck in any single year.

9 My Sony tv seems to work well enough- but I also do not connect it to the internet. Pipe everything on it through the PS4 (which is a whole other kettle of fish, but there you go.)

11 Still digesting Cowboy Bebop. I may have to reconsider one of my fundamental tenets regarding anime- the only insanity present is really Ed- and even she is worked into the story in a way that she does not come across as anomalous. Dude with breasts makes sense in the context of the story.

Probably the best example of dramatic storytelling in the animated genre that I can think of. Certainly for the weird noir/ronin/character study/space opera niche it created for itself.

Posted by: Aetius451AD at November 30, 2021 03:08 AM (csEWM)

12 To all my Anime morons here, Hulu has a deal where it's 99 cents a month for a year (deal might be ending soon, not sure) but I'm really surprised how much anime they have on there and how much of it is dubbed.

13 We dumped the tv lineup but kept cable internet. Since removing the boxes (smooth move, CATV co-- going *back* to boxes after 30 years, idiots!) haven't reconnected the DVD player, &etc...

Already had one Roku TV, so hubby can veg out on that.

Got a couple more Roku sticks but haven't connected to the other TVs. I just don't have time for video! Well, maybe in a few weeks when there's nothing to do outside, lol.

Just reading the latest from Vanden Bossche, posting to Peter McCollough's listserv. He's getting worried about ADE in the vexxed with Moronic, and what it will evolve into.

The problem with ol' Geert is he uses such precise language in his field, that he can say in a few sentences what requires pages and pages for the rest of us to understand.

Something about "allosteric mutations". I'm reading, and trying to understand what ol' GVB is saying.

25 Mornin', folk,

Up to work out; 50 F. outside, but dry (as dry as it ever gets here at night), so I have no excuse not to. Chekov the Ailing Codger Cat not only wants his breakfast, he is actually pacing around, albeit slowly, rather than simply lying on the living room floor and chirping at me. Since he has dry food, I may make him wait until after I work out. I need to give him the morning nerve pain pill, and that is supposed to be every 12 hours. It's only been about 9 since last night's.

Would like to formally adopt this one; he's been hanging around for 2 years now.

He finally (sort of) trusts me but getting him caged and into the car just might ruin that trust for a long time...

31 I'm okay with Samsung being able to brick stolen televisions. To me that's a feature, assuming they have a good process for pulling the trigger. It would be nice if a thief left your TV because he knows he can't sell it.

It's the rest of the stuff they're doing with new TVs that I can't tolerate. Audio snooping. Ads. Collecting data on what you watch. Nope - none of that.

Anna, I once did the same: started a fantasy novel, laid it aside to begin a mystery, hit a sticking point on that, and went back to the fantasy. When I finally typed "THE END" on it, I took up the mystery ms. and found that my sticking point was now obvious: too many plot complications, and therefore too many characters. I cut a lot of that out and had much more fun finishing it.

CNN's report noted that the xenobots were "easily extinguished" by scientists and they are biodegradable and regulated by "ethics experts."

"This is an ideal system in which to study self-replicating systems. We have a moral imperative to understand the conditions under which we can control it, direct it, douse it, exaggerate it." Uh huh uh huh. Sure ya do.

65 I'd say those Samsung TVs were fair game to be bricked until they were the property of someone other than Samsung or the retailer.

Just providing a remote administrative password the purchaser can change would solve the issue of the company messing with the TV for non-legit reasons.

80 Just as a reminder that "Green Energy" has nothing to do with sustainable or "Carbon Free" but has everything to do with hurting people and deliberately spreading misery and death...

Germany is on course to decommission six more nuclear reactors representing eight and one half gigawatts of "carbon free" power by the end of next year. Half of them, which are also the more recent designs and younger, will be closed by the end of 2021.

All the while they are increasing their dependency on Russia gas, while also NATO saber rattles with Russia.

Fortunately the mRNA mandates will effectively depopulate Germany by the end of 2022 where this base load power will not be necessary.

90 Advertising is a necessary evil, I get that. But, in many cases it's been hijacked, like so much of everything else. Propaganda, and "nudging" (at the point of a gun, get right down to it, or near enough)

My tolerance for specious bullshit lectures and hectoring from pseudo-intellectual quacks, grifters, and just plain ole garden variety outright stupid fv$&ers is at something decidedly less than zero. Her Majesty and Delilah arrived home last night after their 3+ week trip. At least she came home to a tidy house, a clean kennel, some nice potato and bacon soup to eat, a clean, freshly-made bed and the washing machine and dishwasher empty. Today we pick over the wreckage of her travels.

114 I can't think of any force that could raise Twitter to the level of merely being an ocean of suck.

When you realize its it 90% people preening for Big Govt and 10% trying to punch the preeners in the dick you understand how little it mean in the real world.

I added up her travels and by the end of the year, she'll have been on the road for more than half of 2021. That includes a one-month trip and several three-week ones.

119 Good morning Hadrian! I saw Delilah went out over the weekend and won everything in sight. I met a borzoi once - gorgeous, amazingly polite and well-mannered dog.

I spent some time with a friend's litter of puppies on Sunday. Not shelties, so I didn't want one, but still a lot of fun.

Mmmm, yeah, I don't want to be here!

120 A TV manufacturer has every right to brick a stolen unit.

Why the fuck should they provide updates, etc. for stolen units?

Practically speaking, however, it does little to hurt the end user of that TV. Plug in a $20 Roku or Fire TV stick, and you once again have a very smart TV.

Means nothing if they continue to employ richard munn and his Social Justice training modules.

127 Dear Samsung, it has come to our attention that Pixy Misa uses a Samsung television. Are you aware that he is a racist homophobic bigot? How can you enable someone like that to be entertained, when he threatens the lives of millions? We demand that you disable Pixys tv and provide $100 million in funding to the Social Justice outreach center.

128 A friend of mine, recently lost his wife, is a real traditionalist. In his living room is an old RCA color console, complete with one of those gubbmint hi def convertor boxes and a set of rabbit ears. However, since the wife passed, a spare bedroom became a man cave and he has something resembling a stadium jumbotron in there.

129 Watched a suggestion from the Saturday movie thread. The Holly and the Ivy from 1952. Had to stream it on my iPad since none of my Roku apps had it. Really need to investigate streaming over one of the smart tv's. The movie was good but a bit depressing as a Christmas movie. Slow start and quick ending, they needed to speed it up a bit on the background and explore the happy ending a bit more slowly. Not going on the yearly watch list.

138 "Considering the government of Kenosha and in Madison had given a green light for the rioting in the first place by ordering the cops not to interfere and not calling in the National Guard"

This is exactly what matters and should be the takeaway from last summer's anti-White pogrom and riots. The "government" was at war with us. We owe it nothing but returning the favor in kind BAMN. The Rubicon was crossed when state-sanctioned violence became the norm.

I agree with you that Soros can end up the winner here. Let's hope what he conquers is an even more unstable, bankrupted shithole than the one he has created, a pariah in the eyes of the world (to the extent the United States is not now).

139 If a "Smart TV" is one that has internet connectivity built in then I just bought two that are not "Smart" and not too expensive either. I got a 55 inch and a 32 inch with the same brand as the 27" computer monitor I bought over a year ago, Sceptre. $250 for the 55" and $140 for the 32"

Bought them as spares in case the older ones I have go down. And since I'm not a gamer they both could be used as computer monitors if needed as they have the inputs and resolution. YMMV
