  • The bus factor for PHP was two. (Musings)
Maybe as few as two people would have to wake up this morning and decide they want to do something different with their lives in order for the PHP project to lack the expertise and resources to move it forward in its current form, and at current pace.

Just focus on that number for a few seconds ... think of the number of people whose livelihoods depend on PHP, the number of mortgages, car payments, school fees, entire payrolls ...

It's the scariest number 2 I have ever seen.
Learn a real programming language, losers.
Everybody who follows the development of PHP knows who these two people are.
They are Dmitry Stogov, and Nikita Popov.
Hmm. Oh. Neat, maybe we can just let it-

    God damn it.

  • I have no idea what I'm doing. (Surfing Complexity)

Well, yes, but also no. Or possibly vice-versa.

  • When a Google cloud server gets compromised, it's mining crypto within 22 seconds. (CNBC)

Only 8% of compromised servers are used as a platform for further hacking attempts; the majority are hacked and immediately mining crypto, which if you have any monitoring all will set off all your alarms.

  • Hololive Gen 6 - holoX, pronounced hollocks, seriously - has launched, and YouTube is doing what it always does: Automatically unsubscribing tens of thousands of fans.

Exactly what they did to EN Gen 2 three months ago.

YouTube is an interesting mix of incompetence, arrogance, and antipathy. They actively hate their users - creators and viewers alike - but they know that there's not really anywhere else for people to go.

I think we're gonna need a bigger bus.

Sana's fans were hopping mad after Youtube stripped her of so many subs. The really irritating part of it all is they do it without any explanation. Are they doing it because their algorithm is detecting fake accounts? Is it just a bug? Does anyone at Youtube even know, or is this all automated?

Surely one of these days one of the other services will catch on.

Chicory coffee is my standard, MLiI. Not every part of the country is used to it, though. I could buy it in Denver, and did, and brought some one day to work to treat everybody. An hour later I heard somebody asking the receptionist, "Is there something wrong with the coffeemaker?" I gave up after that.

47 G'mornin', folk,

Winding up a 4-day weekend is weird. But Chekov the cat is doing better on his gabapentin pill, I think. Certainly he spent more time out in the living room with me all day yesterday, ate with more enthusiasm, and moved in a better way than in 2 months.

I'm looking to replace my DVD player, which dates from 2006. Bezos' little hobby site has a few simple DVD/Blu-Ray players for about $80. I don't want something that streams, but I admit I don't know the everyday details of that. Aren't the streaming ones much more expensive, and if you don't subscribe to any such service and just want to play DVDs, they're a waste of money?

Someone here suggested it. There's also the cocoa mixes you can buy at World Market, dark chocolate and mint and milk chocolate flavors, and mixing a little of that into coffee is a pleasant change from generic Sweet & Low.

Stronger than dark roast, not as strong as espresso. Coffee without it or tending to the espresso end seems awfully thin to me. There are precious few "southern" things I subscribe to -- but chicory coffee is one of them. If I wind up moving to W.Va., I hope I can get it there.

All of my cats have wanted to spend time with me, on my lap, insisting I play with them (darn kittens!), accompanying me to the bathroom when I brush my teeth, etc. Big black Wolf would sit up, and when I paused in the petting, he'd reach for me with an obvious "Don't stop!" paw. 93 I hate shaving, as a commercial years ago stated I'd rather set my underpants on fire. It's the one saving grace of "all must be masked at all times even when eating and recieving mouth to mouth resuscitation" edicts at work, I can shave once on Sunday night and not have to do it again until the following week.

I did too. Electrics irritated me, and the multi-blade horrors nicked me often. Then I discovered old-school wet-shaving: a vintage or modern safety razor, one double-edge blade, a good cream or soap. Now I look forward to my shaves.

There is a lot of persecution of Christians by Muslims there. The author of this reflection doesn't mention that but he does reflect on worries and prayer:

And Democrats won't care a bit, because they control elections and don't need the black vote anymore. They also control the narrative. How many Americans know that the dirty unvaxxed include a high number of blacks/minorities.

And look at NY state. The only reason they got rid of Cuomo is because they had the tyrannical bitch waiting in the wings to take his place. And despite all that she is doing, New Yorkers will never vote for a Republican. So Democrats have zero fear of backlash from anything they are doing.

Mussolini was part of the Italian Socialist Party, and when they had the most humiliating defeat ever in elections, he rebranded.

We all know (though few others do, since it's problematic to the left) that the Nazis and Commies were brothers in arms trying to dismantle Europe, and the commies only switched sides when they saw the Americans were going to join the war, which caused Stalin to shit his pants.

Nazis, Commies and Fascist are all bred from the left wing and are still their bedrock, no matter how much they try to lie and hide it.

180 Why are the comments not accessible on all the older threads in the sidebar?

Please and thank you!

Because the URL's in the links are wrong.

The comment you're reading now is accessed at acecomments.mu.nu/?post=396709

But if you go to the archives, and click on the post, the "access comments" link takes you to
minx.cc/?post=396709

So, to get to the comments you have to replace "minx.cc" with "acecomments.mu.nu" I imagine Pixy could do some magic in the Python to make that happen automatically, but I don't care enough to even try to dig through it myself.
