Happy Thanksgiving Eve

I hope your turkeys are thawing, pies are baking, and families are assembling.

Here’s also hoping that Biden-era scarcity and inflation haven’t impacted your ability to buy a turkey or the roast beast of your choice.

Sean Davis - Thanksgiving Inflation.JPG

If so, I trust you found an alternative.

In addition to all my other blessings, I’m thankful to the Ace of Spades community.

Ace, the Cobs, and all you morons are simply the best. Blessings to you all this Thanksgiving.

Willowed: The appliance bulb for the oven? Chances are about 90% that it's a regular appliance bulb. They were pretty standardized by the 60's. They're extremely low wattage and last forever. When I worked in the hardware store in the mid 70's, we were selling the very same ones that work in most ovens today. Little GE bulb. It wasn't until they started using little tiny halogen bulbs behind glass that things changed in the late 90's.

You don't HAVE to be able to remove the giblets and stuff first. Brining tom turkey to finish the thawing instead of putting him in plain water in the sink gets a juicier bird when carved. I probably do more t-day related cooking after the big meal, making turkey pot pie, usually do a turkey rice casserole too and then turkey soup. Just dad and I. I thought about reaching out to anyone on their own this year but I would not have been able to get the house into company shape.

Thanksgiving was often spent at the Grands-(father, mother), where there were a LOT of the extended family.
So when the dinner bell/whistle sounded, you needed to get your ass in the line for the food: ASAP!
Seconds were based on how fast you INHALED your food and what was left.
Good times fighting with my cousins over that last deviled egg!!!

193 120 Ok, so had to comment on the Molon Labe Turkey meme:
Thanksgiving was often spent at the Grands-(father, mother), where there were a LOT of the extended family.
So when the dinner bell/whistle sounded, you needed to get your ass in the line for the food: ASAP!
Seconds were based on how fast you INHALED your food and what was left.
Good times fighting with my cousins over that last deviled egg!!!

249 Whereas last year at this time, I was in deep despair over the election and the state of the country, I feel a bit of hope right now. The VA and NJ election results, Brandon's poll numbers, and the Rittenhouse verdict made me think the country's not finished yet. It might just be that "wokeism" will end up being seen in just a few years as a ridiculous fad that people will deny they ever bought into.

The reason I think that is because I know someone who watched the Rittenhouse trial and is convinced it was self-defense. This same person was baying for his head last summer, because she was stupid enough to believe the media. When she told me the other day that anyone who watched the video had to admit KR was innocent, I kept myself from saying "That was clear to me last summer because I watched the video. And you told me I was full of shit." My friend, a Dem, is now starting to realize just how much she's being lied to.

300 Cooked a Turducken in 2006 for T-Day. Blew up the oven and filled the house with smoke. The thing looked like a headless, legless and armless human torso, and was delicious along with the myriad number of side dishes I made. It was the first time I'd ever cooked for a family (had got married the previous March and inherited two young kids thereby) and I loved every minute of the experience even though it ended in disaster.

I miss cooking for a yuge number of people now that I've been divorced lo these last 9 years.

Two cops saw the vehicle slowly approaching the parade and suspected that he was going to do something crazy. They even approached and pounded on the vehicle and ordered him to stop. He peeled out and they shot at him as he headed for and plowed into the parade.

The cops knew what was up immediately, and the false narrative was all the MSM hiding a fact that one of their BLM pets went on a murder spree.

Planning on stopping at a Petro with a little Indian restaurant right across the street and now as I type this I realize they'll probably be fucking closed goddammit and I was really looking forward to that sonovaBITCH *grumble**grumble**grumble*

379 Going to Sin's tomorrow for dinner. Ham, no turkey.

I did some baking (cloverleaf dinner rolls and braided what didn't fit in the muffin tin. Looks good). Mrs IMG did whole cranberry sauce, obligatory green bean casserole with fresh beans, and pasta salad. We picked up some pies (the pie factory here had a line 1/4 mile long) pumpkin and apple.

I am bringing the "Old Man's Likker" as son calls it. 4 Roses small batch. He calls anything north of Valu-Rite "Old man's Likker"

Well, it's all numbered boxes stacked 3 stories high. That could be the new State Lottery, I guess. Time to start taxing the thieves, yes? I mean, since they don't get prosecuted.

Actually, they do, if you live in the wrong right place...

381 ... felonious meth-head daughter was arrested a couple weeks ago shoplifting at a Walmart. $370 dollars in clothing worn under her street clothes. A dozen and a half pairs of panties.

We were on vaca out of state (second day of 2 week trip) and the car in my name I was letting her drive was impounded. $600 fee.

She's cut off and Son will take the trashed car. It's almost to laugh about.
