Friday ONT: I'm Baaack!
Hi everybody! Glad to be back onboard for the usual Friday night ONT meme madness! Little's team made the playoffs (1 win got them in, which is a bar low enough that even the Ravens might cross it) and the game was yesterday at 5. In Houston. Which is a 4 hour trip (including the requisite stop at Buc-ees). Each way. So my day yesterday was shot, and I'd like to personally thank Maet for graciously stepping up to the plate and covering the ONT. I noticed some of y'all posted links to the Downfall parody I made, but this was a one off, I won't be making “Hitler finds out Maetenloch has returned to the ONT”. Sorry.

It... is spread out. One thing I always liked about it is that outside of direct downtown, it is like a giant suburb.
Distillery row is a nice place to drive of an evening with the windows down.

Had a summer job with a roofing company in Louisville. We re-roofed the American Tobacco Companies plant. Monstrous job. I was the only non-felon on the crew. A pitch dust and fiberglass atmosphere makes bathing at the end of the day problematic. We did get plenty of free cigarettes though.

It can greatly simply things to just use a bar of Lava soap in the shower. The scrubbin' is built right into the bubblin'. Bonus, it doesn't slip outta yer hand quite so easily as ordinary soap. My old next door neighbors had a little beagle, who was always ready to play. My giant yellow lab was probably 8-10 times her size. She wanted him to play and chase her, and she ran around in circles. He just sort of watched her with detached bemusement, then walked away.
She was, after all, a pretty sweet little dog. I would go sit in their yard, and she would crawl up into my lap for scratches and attention.

You get around that by getting a young adult, rescue beagle that has spent time with a foster family. Mine came house broken and reasonably well trained. They are not the easiest dogs to train. They do tend to be healthy compared to other breeds.

That stuff is amazing. I stopped by the shop one day and wasn't dressed for working, meaning I had non work clothes on, and somehow I got involved in something and I ended up with oil, parts washing fluid and brake fluid all over my pants. I scrubbed the stains with dawn and they looked brand new after the wash.

It is time to sue the hell of that pharmacy (which I assume is a big chain). I don't think they have immunity from this sort of thing, especially in other cases where they gave the ClotShot rather than the flu vaccine to children, which has happened more than once.

I had to consult my household expert (my 12yo son), who has gotten PS3 and PS4 controllers to work with Windows. USB wired connection always works; Bluetooth wireless connection sometimes works.

Any corded Xbox one controller as it has a usb connector or a wireless and he can hook it uo via Bluetooth. To do that he gotta go into the computers settings, find the Bluetooth area, turn on his controller and press the button to pair.
It should pop up on his computer screen.

There is an orange cats that patrols my yard. I see him all the time, but no clue who owns it. Its a chubby bastard, so I know its well fed, and it isn't afraid of me. You can use an official Xbox controller with PC wired with no problems at all. If you want wireless, you'll need to get a Bluetooth adaptor for the PC. Those can be a little finicky sometimes, so I wouldn't cheap out on that particular component.

I have seen Moe, Larry, and curly. I'll never forgot this one job we got called into. Beautiful old 3 story house with a corner tower. The electricians that worked in this place should have been shot on sight. They destroyed this house. They cut right through hard wood floors as if they were trying to rescue somebody. Big square haphazard cuts like they jammed a circular saw into it any old way and finished off with an axe. They blew gigantic holes in the wall to put new outlets and switches in, so you had holes that looked like a crane ball went through, and they had the balls to hook up the outlets with the covers, not attached to anything, and just swinging free in the huge holes. It literally looked like the 3 fucking stooges did it. It took 6 weeks to undo the damage.

Mentioned not long ago here that Poseidon Project, which is next door to Harland Brewing's Bay Park location (by I-5/Mission Bay), has excellent neapolitan-style pizza. Perfectly done. keena, I think, noted it.
And while I have yet to not like any craft beer of the dozens (hundreds?) I've tried locally, Harland is really outstanding, across their portfolio.

Americans do the same thing. So many guided "European Tours" that start in London and end up in Rome or Athens. You spend most of the time on a bus and also a boat. There is nothing particularly wrong with this as a trial run, but the reality does set in at some point. Dots on a map are one thing,but when you have to do the travel, it is another thing.
My criticism of Euros is the places they want to visit. Sure it is a generalization, but it seems Vegas and Orlando are the top two. If you ever want to not get a clue about real America, those would be the two places I would choose. After those, you have NYC and DC. I can understand that a bit more.

When I used to do that metal cruise every year 3/4 of the ship was euros. They were a little more discriminating. They would do things like rent bigger cars and do road trips. One dude from germany rented a tahoe and drove to the florida keys, another dude went up to maine, shit like that. They would take a month vacation, spend 1 week on the ship, and the next 3 weeks traveling around the country. They wanted to see nice stuff, not touristy shit. Its like they did their research. I know in Europe the way to pick a restaurant was to be sure they didn't have their menu outside, translated into five languages, and also, you didn't see any tourists. The fun of it was, you could go two streets away from the tourist haunts and it was another world.

When I go to bed, he will move from wherever he is or crate and lay on his pillow between me and the door, facing the door.
When I have had to go out of town and leave him with someone else. He evidently will keep his eyes glued to the door at all times when he is not actively eating or drinking.

Sorry. Even in N.J. where so many people are masked I have never had a problem with people saying anything about me not being masked except one old guy about a year ago because we were at the end of the supermarket belt and he was where you loaded your groceries and he said, "Can't you wait till I'm out of the store to put groceries on the belt?!" Masked people who were upset about me not being masked either veered out of way or moved their shopping carts really fast.
