Carlin (Save the Bees):
So the plastic is here, our job is done, we can be phased out now, and I think that's really started already, don't you? I mean, to be fair, the planet probably sees us as a mild threat; something to be dealt with, and I'm sure the planet will defend itself in the manner of a large organism. Like a beehive or an ant colony can muster a defence, I'm sure the planet will think of something. What would you do if you were the planet trying to defend against this pesky, troublesome species? Let's see. . . what might. . . hmm. . . viruses! https://tinyurl.com/4wzbw2dv Posted by: m at November 05, 2021 02:24 AM (TZgEk) 7
These Pixy tech threads are cool, and the tech upgrades are nice reads, but we have gotten so far away from what's important, and simple, in life: a good guitar, a Marshall stack, a lid of Northern California's finest, and your preferred cannabinoid delivery system. Once you've gotten to there on Maslow's hierarchy of needs, it's a clear path to self-actualization.

Mornin', all. Up early, but not early enough to smoke a pre-breakfast pipe. Thus I sit here with coffee and the purring but still ailing Codger Cat Chekov. One more weekday to struggle through. Though I have a long string of errands to deal with tomorrow, at least some of my time will be my own. Early voting for mayor of my dump ends tomorrow, and I may not make it to the courthouse; so next Saturday I'll have to head to my regular polling place, early. On the good side, I intend to pay off the Buick this month, almost 2 years early, and drive the big red beast sans car note. The money can go into the bank, or I can divert it into my pension/retirement fund. My contributions are matched at least partly by my employer. I hope it will all be worth something by the time I retire -- which I am thinking should be next June.

The vermin of Portland can add another piece of history destroyed to their scoreboard.
The retired US Coast Guard 125ft cutter Alert which had been moored near the I-5 bridge and was a museum ship sank Sunday. The ship had been closed for the past year and a squatters camp moved aboard. Not all details are clear or the exact cause of the sinking. But being abandoned for a year and having squatters defacing and stripping the ship probably have something to do with it. Posted by: Anna Puma at November 05, 2021 04:14 AM (EIFTC) 44

The only news article on the sinking that pops up on first page is written to make it seem the ship was just there abandoned and sank. Posted by: San Franpsycho at November 05, 2021 *** Not really. Chekov used to be a lap cat, as long as I put the couch cushion on my lap. He'd hop on me and stay a while, leave, then repeat, several times a night, and sit in the living room in between. Now he spends most of his time on the floor in the bedroom. Mornings, though, I often wake now to find him in the living room, and he stays and purrs while I drink my coffee. Until I feed him. Then, back to the other room. The late big black cat Wolf was occasionally a lap cat, but he sat more often than not on the arm of the sofa right near me.
