CBS News May Boot Norah O'Donnell From Anchor Chair Over Poor Performance, Karen-Like Demeanor
I don't know about you all, but I'm so tuned out of television news I didn't even know she was their evening news anchor.
Seems like I'm not alone. No one's watching the CBS evening news. Another loss for the white wealthy leftist power feminists of the Karen Kollective.
Norah O'Donnell is in danger of losing the top spot at "CBS Evening News," as cost-slashing execs at the broadcasting giant quietly search for her replacement amid sagging ratings, The Post has learned. The 47-year-old news anchor -- who muscled her way into the evening slot in 2019 as she fled a reportedly strained relationship with co-host Gayle King on "CBS This Morning" -- now stands vulnerable to the network’s bean counters as her ratings have stayed stubbornly stuck in third place, according to sources close to the situation. Insiders likewise pointed to O'Donnell's hefty pay package that is in the ballpark of $8 million a year and a three-year contract that’s slated to expire next spring. She faces the possible heave-ho after CBS shelled out millions to move the evening broadcast to Washington, DC, from New York City to accommodate O'Donnell and her husband, chef Geoff Tracy, and their three children.

But behind the scenes, The Post has learned that Khemlani has hired management consultants to find ways to trim fat as parent company ViacomCBS continues to digest the 2019 merger of CBS and Viacom, and potentially make the company more attractive for a sale, the sources said. ... Sources told The Post that O'Donnell’s diva-like behavior wouldn't be missed in the network’s corridors. They said she continues to be rude to hair, makeup and wardrobe staff -- despite years of complaints that she is "divisive" and "toxic" with colleagues. She also has demanded new designer threads throughout the pandemic, a move that rubbed some the wrong way, as she reports on COVID deaths, political upheaval and unemployment. ... Zirinsky, who denied at the time that O'Donnell's move had anything to do with King, "thought she could control" O'Donnell's ego, but she couldn't, according to one source close to the TV network.

When, on the rare occassion, Mrs. Reason has the CBS news on for one specifc story, Norah comes off as a nattering scold.
One of the local AM radio stations simulcasts the CBS news. In audio-only format, Norah remains a nattering scold. If anything, even moreso then, because you are focused entirely on her intentional word-choice and arent' distracted by the visual scold-cues.

In short, they're actors. So hire an actor and pay him or her a decent salary to read the prompter. When they stop being pretty, you can fire them just like any other actor. Why does anyone pretend these people *aren't* actors? Just put out a casting call and seat someone who looks good, reads quickly and speaks well.

Shut down the news division. Just shelf it. Almost nobody goes to the networks for news these days (or almost anything, really). Shift your entire operation primariy into being a TV studio, rather than a channel. Run old shows people love and your new content done by your studio, but stop thinking its 1974 and you're the only game in town. You're nothing. Turn yourself into Netflix for old people, who frankly are the only ones watching network channels now anyway.
These slowly dying dinosaur organizations need new blood to come rip them apart and change direction for the new reality they are in. Publishing companies, network TV, there are a host of formerly huge businesses that cannot seem to come to terms with what's going on today.

Whenever a fictional prime-time TV show starts to slip in ratings, certain "adjustments" are made. Language becomes saltier. Female clothing becomes more scant. Instead of the married couple talking over coffee in the morning, they are talking in the bedroom as various characters change / shower / etc. It is most obvious when binge-watching a series, and has actually become a game in the Reason household. "Spot the moment ratings fell."
I wonder if Norah will consider the same "adjustments" here. A few less buttons buttoned. A perch on a stool in a short skirt with no desk in front of her, FNC style.
Perhaps an occassional, "...and now we go live to West Clattersboro to see what this shit's all about. Bill?"
At the end of the day, will she see herself as a journalist with integrity, or as an actress reading her script and playing a role?

It's never what you expect. I always go back to the example Ceausescu's downfall in Romania. It was due to the totally routine oppression of a priest. Nothing special, nothing unusual, nothing even all that bad in terms of what he did his entire reign.
But it was the last straw, and he was dead in a schoolhouse shortly after. You never know what ends up being the trigger, and it rarely makes sense on its own and is almost never predictable.

Mostly people vote and act not on stuff that's horrible, but stuff that actually affects them directly. Fast & Furious was one of the most ghastly scandals in American history (the federal government deliberately feeding weapons to bloodthirsty Mexican drug cartels in the hopes that it would lead to backlash and restrictions of a constitutional right).
But it was too abstract, disconnected, and remote for people to grasp or react to.

Probably wanted to but couldn't get the budget. Movie studios are surprisingly tight fisted these days, having taken a huge bath all last year and nothing doing as well this year.
THe biggest earning movie of the year so far is Shang Chi, making just over 200 million by best estimates. That's a movie that before the panic could have pulled in 500+ million. And they slashed the budget down to a fraction of previous marvel films.

The way I read it is that they already had HIV and some drug experiments were performed on them. The nurses who administered the drugs said they had horrific side effects. I think every participant in the 'study' died.
